Finally, someone who speaks a guitar " language " I understand ! I learned guitar at 10 years old. I haven't picked up my electric guitar in 3 years ! I plugged it in again tonight ! Thanks ! I turn 70 this year !
fufijfjfufuf
I am 72 this coming year. Lets get together and show the kids how to do it! LOL
Awesome! Stay with it, you're still young.
12 FOOT CHAIN!! The message is so powerful! Go beyond your limitations! Thank you sir
My friend your an excellent teacher… your calm, precise and you have a very clear way of explaining each song. You are one of only few with this unique ability. I would like too learn from you all I am able. Thank you again for your time.
You popped up on my feed a few weeks back…and I am so glad. In the past, I have played all 3 of these in covers bands from the 80s onwards. Always knew they didn’t sound right but you are spot on here. Goes to show…old dogs can learn new tricks. Great job bud. Break that 12 foot chain 👍
I've been playing those three songs since they came out on 45s (I'm 68). And I've watched a bunch of RUclipss on "how to play" them, too. Yours is the first time I've seen the way John actually played it...tuned down a whole step.
FIRST time! Well done.
Same here and proud mary has been a dream but now it makes sense......❤
I've been watching your content for sometime and I continue to enjoy your lesson style. I've always wondered what the 12 ft. chain references and never would have guessed what the actual meaning is. You have now encouraged me to consider my self imposed barriers with learning guitar and to "break those chains". That may be the single most important lesson I could have received. Thanks for sharing.
YES!! THIS IS WHAT I KNOW I HEARD, BUT NEVER PLAYED IT. THIS IS THE REAL DEAL: GOSH, WHAT AN AMAZING IMPROVEMENT AFTER ALL THESE YEARS 🎶🎶
From an O.A.P in the U.K. you have done more for me since I found you than 5 years of tutoring. Paul King.
glad to hear it, thanks!
Speachless... What amazing musical and teaching capacities. Thank you !
Hi 12 foot chain/Doug.
Thanks for this splendid lesson.
I've been a fan of CCR since back in the day.
It's kind of funny and strange, that they've made such a huge impact, although just being together for 4 years - exactly like i.e. Cream and yet still have been so loved by and admired for generations.
Keep the goodies coming, Doug.
☮️❤️🎸
Great. You explain in a a ver simple way
Anyone can immediately understand you.
Great lesson and love the 12’ chain analogy…I constantly remind myself that learning to play guitar is a continuum and where you are is where you are and the key is to keep moving forward…good luck with your channel and I look forward to more insights about guitar and life 👍- TGD
Comment; I’ve watched a few of your videos and wondered about 12 ft chain. Your analogy is spot on. I grew up listening to “ccr “, stones, zeppelin, and could not figure out why I couldn’t get the sound exactly like the recording. Thanks to the internet and videos like yours I have discovered the wonderful world of TUNING. Thanks you
New Subscriber.
Adorei a sua aula
Great tutorial. I have always played them in the standard tuning. Now the riffs are much easier and sound correct. Thank You
You my friend, have the extremely rare ability to teach guitar, plus you are a phenomenal player from what I've seen. You project such calmness, and it's apparent that you truly want to help. Thank you so much, I subscribed!!!!!
Amazing C.C.R. group, my fave since spring 1971 to now. ❤❤❤❤
Playing guitar is a never ending story! Thank you so much for your Story!
Pure gold!
I just joined a CCR cover band, so this is exacty what I needed, thanks!
I love that classic rock
Fantastic ...Thank You.
Love this. Great information and great sound.
Thank you, again, I like your explination of the chain. I just got to remember that. so hooked on my fingers doing what they always do.
The proud Mary mystery has intrigued me for literally over 30 years !
Champion!!!
I subscribed to your excellent guitar Chanel sometime during the past 3-4 years of insanity.
Yesterday and today a couple of your older videos (this one included) popped up.
I watched both videos.
Always wondered what the 12 Foot chain was about.
Great name for your channel. You inspired me to play again and now to break my own 12 foot chain.🤘
This is music from the heart ! So honest and real . Sir , i wish you lots of success . Thx
Great video, only increases my admiration for John Fogerty even more. John is a true genius who makes what he does sound easy, but nobody else in the whole world writes songs and sounds like him.
That was the coolest frickin'' lesson.
Another great lesson Sir. It all became clear why it never sounded right. Much appreciated. Thanks
Bro! I always knew the standard phrasing was off with Proud Mary and Bad Moon Rising! Thanks man!
Love this guy. Everything his says makes perfect sense. Tuning down to D gives that unmistakable JF tone. Another great video.
Sounds ace thanks.
Hell yeah, man. Inspirational idea
Loss for words man. Thank you.
I love that casino in the back ❤
Thank you!
Thank you very much.
Great insight.
Awesome lessons
I enjoy learning the right way to play these classics. Thank you
Try to find the Ed Sullivan TV appearance. Fogerty played chords and licks very differently than you'd expect
I love Guitar sound!
Love your new channel!
Thank you very much, good teaching. Looking forward to more videos.
Muchas Gracias
You taught me a LOT!!
Brilliant tutorial, always wondered what the secrets was to those songs so thank you!! 🤘

You rock it, we rock it with you!!!!!!!!😊
Great content- I'm ready to relearn those songs again
This is awesome - I wish I'd learned to play guitar this way.

Very good! Amazing!. The trick of whole step down is a treasure
Thank you very much! John's songs it's realy great! Peace&love✌️
A very amazing guitar lesson - thank you so much. I know and like the CCR songs since the seventies. But I never the secret of John Fogerty's guitar tuning. It sounds great.
Nice breakdown. You got that right!
A cool 12 foot chain story. So true that we all do have our own 12 foot chain as an ax to grind.
This is what i was waiting for
I can relate to this awsome
awesome man, thanks
Sounds great

You're going to kick butt on the Tube!
Recently subscribed to your channel, then found this video explaining the 12-foot chain meaning. WOW!
Well done!
Thank you very much for the lesson.!!
You are welcome!
Really happy I found your channel, you're hitting on all my favorite music and your tutorials are filling a void for me that was created by the abrupt departure of James James. Thanks, I love your work!
Thanks man. Yeah I love and miss james james too
12 foot chain Thanks for being such a genuine person and mentioning James James, he helped so many of us on our journey. Very best wishes to you from Northern Ireland. Subscribed 🌠👌
This is a great vid.
12 foot chain explanation = sublime. Subbed
Welcome aboard!
Good story about the 12-foot chain. Good lesson also
Sooo glad to have found that true Fogerty sound / tuning method and after all these years! Just very good luck? To have found your channel, thank you very much!
12 foot chain. Wow!!!
I’m super excited about this, Doug!
thanks man - no idea what i'm doing, but i'm gonna do it
@@12footchain Obviously you do! It’s really well done and super helpful. Again I would love to see more tips and tricks with standard tuning.
Glad to have found you .
great lesson, and now i know what the 12' chain symbolizes...
The Dude Abides !
Very good analogy and philosophy. Glad to learn the tuning down in these songs too. The only thing that saddens me is the elephants in labour thing. Someone should break their chain, shouldn’t have been there from the beginning …
Your lessons are as just like hanging out and chopping on chords and licks! Thanks for keeping it fun!
Thank you!
Great stuff. Been enjoying your channel
Very nice!
Well done.
this is a great channel... I sometimes have to watch some of the fingering a few times to get it, but it explains so much that I did not figure out on my own.. .. i thought the 12 ft chain was for a sailboat mooring anchor chain... I have a Holder 20 racing sailboat, and crew on a 32 ft racing boat also.. so that's the first thing that popped into my mind.. thanks for the videos... old guy...66 years old in Amston CT. going to get my epi elitist burst les paul out of the closet.. and turn up the old fender blues Deville
Great video
Video 1 was great, you've got another fan here!
Finally! Playing the song correctly!!! Great job friend!
wow...great channel
Gibson Les Paul, string it with heavy gauge strings and drop it down below standard to "D" tuning, playing the "E" postion & so on with the riffs, my experience was playing by ear and learning off the Record(60s,70s) and noticing that the song was actually In D but the tones were different and finally I realized that one guitar had to be tuned down to D tuning so you could do the Rifts in the proper position (E), as I noticed in a video of Tom and John Fogerty playing Proud Mary (on a video from way back when), can be done in D, but E is way to go. Same with badmoon & so on, great video , thanks
so I got the les paul out..the songs are really spot on sounding now using the tutorial.... I gave my son my 1970's Kustom 150 head ( they are so loud) and the 2/15 cab with the tuck and roll... mite have to get it back for the "fogarty" stuff
I knew about fortunate son and bad moon rising but i never suspected proud mary lol. great video
Thank you, much appreciated!
Excellent! A+ :)
