I like listening to Mr. Cuunjieng because he is able to simplify the situation and arrive at a very logical solution. The problem really is in the implementation - WE need to agree on a clear and simple plan, and execute regardless of who it may affect! We have to accept that (1) difficult choices will have to be made, (2) some sectors will be more favorably affected than others, and (3) the benefits may come years after the plan has been implemented. I miss those 'intelligent' talk shows - keep up the good work Market Edge!
Yep exactly, one plan where the benefits will come later are the building of new power plants, starting construction of new power plants will most likely be finished after Marcos' six year term, but the benefits will be great.
Best of Stephen Cuunjieng Ever ..... He got it right ..... 31 Million of the BBM voters want a fresh start ..... and we do hope or at least have a start at it under BBM Administration ......
He is right, we need to develop our mining, smelting, and refining industries to produce our own steel and other components to develop our own supply chain. There is no point to make the Philippines a manufacturing hub if we have to import all the steel and other components. Similarly our electricty costs is still too high, we need more power plants, preferrable renewable energy, and transmissions to make our energy costs competitive with our neighbors.
After WW2 e naisip na po yan, pero dahil inuna pa ang katiwalian, eto po ang nadevelop at naging kalakaran at namayagpag ng husto sa kasalukuyang administrasyon at pauusbunging ng susunod...
Importing raw materials to manufacture as more expensive finished goods is entirely the point of becoming a manufacturing hub. That's what differs between the first and third world. The third world is being exploited to remain underdeveloped to only produce raw material that richer nations can buy to manufacture as finished goods sold back to the third world at higher prices.
Right, but we also need to understand the politics of devaluation. We need our own mines to mass produce farm machines out there that are just languishing.
Its nice to listen to a person who is in neutral side. He is on point on what the philippines needs to do and he is right i think we all need is to restart.
This guy is right. Supply chain is the main issue. Inbound and outbound freight can easily reduce 7% of profit. Being from the automotive industry I am excited with the Copper Industry Development Plan in Leyte. There will be no need to import copper-related raw materials used in electronics and wire harness manufacturing.
Hello Mr. Cuunjieng, i watched your last interview. Honest, unbiased, very intelligent. Im hoping President elect appoints you as part of his cabinet member or as his adviser. I became a fan. Looking forward on your next interview.
I realllly enjoy having this man as a guest in your show. Its like being back in University and having the honor to hear one of the great professors speak.. yea he does sometimes go into a tangent but he gets right back on topic and show you that the way you see the world should not be limited to a singular nor limited point. One should definitely look at the bigger picture, the long term implications of any action to be undertaken, the reasons as to why things happened the way they did and are and how to adapt/change it before finally readjusting the focus to the minute and doing some micro adjustments.
Now, under secretaries are looked at critically unlike before. He is really unbiased when he was discussing the role of private sector. I love it when the discussion is as open like this where there is no room for hostility. Goosebumps when I heard Vietnam is doing more than what the Philippines when it comes to tourism industry. Love also to hear than one person would raise the need to lower the production cost by lowering the most basic needs in the production --- the electricity!
PBBM's economic team is blithering competent. Very impressive. PBBM has also mentioned before that he wants to build more international gateways to boost the country's tourism industry. He raised exactly the same reasons. So cool.
The interviewer is lovely and speaks well however, when she has this kind of interviewee and especially tackles about this topic, she also needs to be more knowledgeable about Banking and Investment so she could threw more relevant questions. Overall, I learned a lot from the Banker. Thank you Sir.
I think he became viral because his opinion is politically fair. If ANC want to be more viral, it has to continue inviting resource persons who are not only insightful, but fair.
He's so sensible with great wisdom about business and politics. He is a type of guest that the host can't manipulate. I like the way he presented his thoughts and opinions about the present admin and the Philippine economy in general.

Lets see what happen. And the accomodation..please regulate it. There are rooms that are only 10sqm with a fan charging 2k+ a night.
Why don't we have brilliant minds in the government as Stephen Cuunjieng has? I can only wish this interview catches attention of somebody in Malacañang.

Very informative. Thank you Stephen. Based on what I've heard from other other tourists, we are behind when it comes to customer service and also food quality. Maybe we can invest more in trainings and to improve our agriculture so we can serve good quality food ingredients that don't cost that much. We really have to change the foundation and stop with a mediocre mentality na 'ok na yan'.
There is a lot of money to be made in starting up our agriculture. It is still in its infancy but the huge potential is there. Remember we have no winter and autumn. Food can be grown all year round.

True, economically the Philippines does not matter much in the world economy and we're more important for our strategic geography. Marcos is not friendly to America for the several cases filed against him for human rights abuses by Filipino activists who suffered from martial law. These included cases filed to recover ill-gotten wealth. Most of these cases were won and that cause a lot of antagonism in the Marcos camp. We only know that they're messing up these security arrangement (MDT) when the USS Carl Vinzons is around.
On tourism, the Philippines should take a look not only at Thailand's tourist industry but Mexico as well, particularly Cancun and Cabo San Lucas. Two areas where a lot of foreign tourist flock to. I have been to both and it was a well-oiled operation. Everything from the time you leave the plane, through immigration, picking up luggage and finding your ride. You could be in your hotel lobby and on the beach within an hour give or take. Most hotels contract with transportation companies and coordinators at the airport exit and they have a list of clients on any particular flight of the day and which hotel they are booked. The most I've waited for my ride was 30 mins. They built the airports close to where the destination was. I agree with Stevie that sometimes you have to build to develope. You may not realise the profits in the short term but if you look a bit forward, yeah, this could work and tourist infrastructure could follow. Transportation to and from the airport is included when you book your hotel stay. The coordinators at the airport will hand you a ticket with yout name, flight number, time and date of departure. All you need to do is show up on thr appointed time. Start with that simple step and build forward.
I agree so much with the ending message from him. The Filipinos are so tired of self-serving politicians that keep pointing the blame to everyone else. PLEASE, let's vote for the ones who'll continue the GREAT project, and economic plans, who'll lead the Phil into growing into a GREAT nation. The past is done. We won't move forward if we keep dragging the baggage from 30+ yrs ago. Instead, let's step forward together as one.
He really knows what he's talking about. I hope someone in the elected government is listening to him and tap him. A Philippines with no OFWs is a dream I hope we can work towards to, .it will also favor building a stronger community and country if the smallest unit which is the family, is whole. A way to forge a better Philippines. Of course, it would also mean stronger economy which is never bad!
Philippines with no OFW is a bad idea. What I dream of is Philippines should be a source of highly paid OFWs like Engineers, Accountants, Managers, etc. not skilled workers or domestic workers.
Thank you for inviting me again.

The past is done. We won't move forward if we keep dragging the baggage from 30+ yrs ago. Instead, let's step forward together as one.
Very intelligent. I just finished this 18 minutes video, very informative ❤️
Unpredictability of Philippine Laws & basic services shoo away investors & tourists!
Yes to renewable energy!
Kawawa ang buong mundo kapag tumigil ang mga OFW. Malaki mawawala sa labor force nila especially mga Nurses.
