Do people have a choice?what Cory created when she took over was pull the rug underneath the factories' feet by giving the the waterworks and electricity away to her friends thus too expensive to run a business in the Philippines for the last 35 years and coupled that with Ramos. You have to look back on the root cause why Philippines commodity is exporting people. Al these yahoos always forgot to look back on the root cause. It's survival of the fittist after 1986.
@@thecruisediva you also have to look back on why she had to sell unprofitable government owned businesses. It was part of the condition by IMF before they would bail out the country. You also have to look back and understand that the country was basically bankrupt (Sri Lanka style) at starting from 1983 all the way until she started her term.

So, it is the energy sector and steel industry that are the weakest links - ferdinand e. marcos set up these 2 sectors plus agriculture infra and whole value chain - he was very right, then cory came and destroyed these sectors. now, we have to wait a minimum of 5 years to get right back up and will see benefits only after the bbm admin. i hope people will not viciously politicize every little thing along the way and get sober from hereon.

If you want to help the Philippines government generate more tax revenues, ALWAYS DEMAND a receipt that indicates the TIN number of the store or business proprietor.
You'll be surprised to know that there are some shops and restaurant operators, even the ones located in the malls, who don't issue official receipts. It's been a long while now that this bad trade practice has been prevalent.
Non-issuance of a BIR-prescribed receipt is a source of dishonest tax reporting by declaring less income tax. By demanding a receipt, customers are paying a portion of the sales tax. To a certain extent, we are helping our government in their revenue collection.
There's this famous 'lechon manok'. One time, I ordered 'lechon manok' and dined in at a food court in a mall. They issued me a receipt. But more than three times, I bought for take out this same brand of 'lechon manok' from one of their kiosks by the side of the road. They didn't issue me a receipt. It's been their habit. I'm partly to blame. I always forget to ask for a receipt.
It would appear that on a weekly basis, I also don't get any receipt for some of the goods and services that I pay for. I can understand the small vendors who try to make ends meet by selling fruits and vegetables and what not on the side of the market. But items that cost P200 and above are something else. If supermarket operators, who pay rent on leased property and utilities, can issue an official receipt for a bottle of water that costs P15, why can't others do the same?
Let's help our country settle our huge debt by demanding a BIR-prescribed receipt on every purchase we make. It may also narrow the wide gap between the rich and the poor in Philippines.

Sinabi na din po niyan ni late Sen. Miriam Defensor-Santiago (MDS) in an ANC interview conducted by Ms. Karen Davila. In that interview, MDS used the word, "encomiums." That is such a perfect adjective, in my view.
At this point, we really do not need a sort of 'confirmation' or 'applause' from other sovereign nations. The Philippines, as a sovereign nation, will have to navigate for itself, not necessarily by itself. While it is a fact that we are part of the community of nations, it is important to heavily emphasize that we mobilise for our own, not so that other nations will have something good to say about us.
In the end, we have myriad of problems that may be unique to us; and so theirs. We must, therefore, focus our undivided attention for our country esp. in this epoch.

The difference between Vietnam and Philippines is they have open fdi(100% foreign ownership) whereas Philippines have 60 40 restrictions. So, they really will make a lot of profit owning 100% of their company in Vietnam.

If you want to bring tourism to the Philippines that is at par with Thailand, accessibility is the key. Our travel infrastructure is way way behind that of Thailand. From Suvarnabhumi Airport you can connect with all of Thailand using there efficient rail, bus, and taxi system without any hassle if you need to stop by Bangkok. But most of tourist spots in Thailand have direct flights. Unlike here in the Philippines were it is such a task to get around and Terminals aren't even connected. In my opinion our tourist sites around the country is much better than of Thailand, but to get there the travel infrastructure needs to be taken care of.

Please let us come together and formulate a solid roadmap for our country - so that who ever wins in each

The reason why philippines has fewer visitors than thailand and vietnam is because we are not part of mainland asia.
China and india has easy access to those countries as well as european backpackers.
Open FDI and a change in government structure is definitely needed. It’s now or never. Let the country and all of its people flourish together, not just a selected few.
He is completely right, we do not have enough raw material suppliers and cheap enough electricity to lure investors for manufacturing.
In other words, Marcos would have to put power plants, preferrable renewable, as one of his top priorities, even if it will not be finished within his term.
Just like he said, to develop our supply chain, we need to develop our own mining, our refinering and smelting plants to produce our own steel and other components, to make them cheaper and more available in our country.

@@ar5288 that was done by Marcos Sr during his administration but Cory Aquino scrapped all Marcos long-term plans and sold all the geothermal and other renewable energy to her family and mothballed the Nuclear Power Plant. While Ramos sold National Steele Corp and Petron… ramos and cory presidencies were the worst thing that happened to the filipino people.
