I think this is right on.
I replaced a Max terra Dissector with the new Forkaster on the rear and have been pretty happy. Similar rolling resistance and cornering grip. The Dissector has a bit more braking grip but the Forkaster had more climbing grip. Overall I'd give the edge to the Forkaster as an all around trail tire. Running a max grip DHF up front. Conditions are mostly loose over hard.
I'm going to try out a Magic Mary front / Nobby Nick rear over the winter to see if they do a little better at punching through the leaves and pine needles which can be a bit slippery.

I picked one up for my XC/ trail hardtail. I have a few rides with it on the front with Rekon 2.4 rear. I like it okay but a little drifty for me as a front tire. Like you say, it seems better as a rear tire. I think I'm going to swap for a Dissector 2.4 up front instead.
Mine also pumped up a little narrow:
56 mm knob to knob vs 58 mm knob to knob on the Rekon. Both WT 2.4 on a 30i rim

Currently rocking Dissector F / Rekon R on my XC sprinty hard tail and DHR2 F/ Forekaster R on my 120/130 trail bike. I'm liking both setups. I wouldn't hesitate at all to run Dissector / Forekaster on an XC/trail bike. Forekaster rolls super fast and Dissector front kinda gives me a DHF feel similar to what Dustin says

How's the tread life on the Forekaster? Dissectors are of course known for their short tread life. I happen to love the Dissector out back with an Assegai up front, but that's on a 151/160 travel bike. The Forekaster does look like it would be a good fast rolling rear for an AM or enduro setup, but only comes in EXO, which is going to die rapidly doing endurobro things. The light weight and Assegai like tread makes it look like it would be a good front tire for a downcountry or grippy XC setup, with an Ardent race or Rekon race out back.

I'm on a 2022 Rocky Mountain Element 50 running the combo mentioned (2.4" Rekon - R & 2.4" Dissector - F). I really appreciate this pair's efficiency with just enough traction to ride hard, but don't enjoy the Dissector's small drift zone. It's not as pronounced as the DHF, but still there. Yo! I tried 2.4 and 2.3s on my hardtail and hated it. It’s so harsh on any type of bumps or wash board stuff. For hardtails my favorite is a 2.5 DHF front and 2.6 Rekon rear with XC Cush core. It’s kind of a weird combo and normally don’t run wider on the rear but on a hardtail it just works. That combo is amazing

I hadn't even considered the Forecaster until your video because I didn't realize they updated it. My Spur just showed up 2 weeks ago. I want the most possible traction in a single year round setup... while sacrificing rolling speed as little as possible, which targets a tire between XC and Trail. Im in Atlanta GA, so the freezing temps are rare. When I got my Spur I immediately put Cushcore XC in the rear for stability...and it is more predictable, but still less than desirable traction, while being heavier. Surprisingly, I actually really like the Dissector in the front. I think I will put the new forecaster in the rear and see how I like that. I'm guessing that Forecaster might not need the Cuschore XC though, which might bring down the overall rear tire weight. I'm really curious how a matched front and rear set of Forecasters will compare to Wicked Wills. Which setup will be faster rolling, will the Wicked Wills be that much lighter? which will climb better or push harder in the turns? Which tire will be most capable of handling the descents in rocky rooty terrains that the Spur is capable of without puncturing? I'm in constant contemplation just like all you guys reading the comment sections.I have the Reynolds 309/289 rims with Berd spokes (30id front and 28id rear) so I'm capable of wide tires, but don't want bouncy balloons. I also wonder about the Dissector front and rear? Thanks for the Video and notifying me of the update!

Hey Jamie so here’s my take. For the spur the dissector front is money! Rear tire I’d probably go 2.3 aggressor. Especially since you have the slightly narrower rim in the back. You could do forekaster rear. But I think the aggressor is a touch lighter and faster imo. If you want more rolling speed will in the back or Rekon. If my trails were more flat I’d do Rekon. If they are more aggressive trails I’d go aggressor.

So after the first ride at Chicopee Woods here in GA 11/26/22... the Forecaster in the rear is confidence inspiring descending and climbing well. Chicopee is mostly aggressive / punchy XC trails that are rocky and rooty and you are always either climbing, or descending and nothing is extensively long. Thanksgiving time of year the trails are either Pine straw or recently fallen leaves and can be a bit nerve racking. The Dissector and Forecaster are great together. Both roll well and inspire more confidence than the Rekon 2.4 120tpi 3CT rear. I think this is a winning combo for a year round "trai"l focused setup on the spur. I'm OK with the few extra grams in the rear because it rolls so well and that weight is strategically placed in the right spots for climbing and dampening. The Forecaster didn't slide or give out anywhere today. Impressive traction and I didn't notice it rolling much slower than the Rekon. I've been similarly addicted to finding the right combo and have an attic full of tires. For me this is it...Dissector front and Forecaster rear. It will be a great year round setup. For a more XCish focused setup I really like the Vittoria Barzo front and Mezcal rear. Today my fitness was the limitation not the tires. At 200 lbs I'm running 21psi front and 24 rear and i felt well supported. Might still play with psi a bit.
