Can't summarize this better....I love his videos too and what's funny is that he speak fairly slow but the videos pack such a pinch in less than 10 mins
Same thoughts haha where I live, a cámera like that is used only for big budget feature films or the biggest comercials. Nothing else, it's impossible to rent for lower stuff than that since there's only like 2 of them.
He's saying low budget in the sense agency isn't forking out a ton on rentals, most of the camera dpt gear is his. If you've watched him for any length of time you know he owns some Illuminas and the 35 so yeah he's making $$ on his day rate and kit but agency is saving money hiring him with all of it.
Your "small" budget ad look a lot bigger than the "big" budget ads I get to work on hahaha. It's cool, it give room to dream! And, in the end, the techniques are the same where we get to shoot on an Arri 35 with anamorphic in a desert across the country or on an URSA with spherical in a field next to our home. Great video as always!
That white balance hack was beautiful because if you look at his face you can see a profound blue/orange look - this could have been exaggerated in the color grade but it feels like it accidentally did something special but really pleasing
such a good inspiring video. doesn't need to be some 40 minute long essay about how these 5 tips will change your videography, but got more from this than plenty of over-the-top videos like that. gave some awesome pointers, thank you for what you make lewis!
Cool way to create color contrast by just using daylight fixtures and playing with the white balance setting and getting it in camera! a lot of people think you have to have RGB lights everywhere because its on every music video when in fact you can achieve it without sacrificing skin tones as you demonstrated well done!
wow so much info in just 5 mins. This is what I strive to do for my channel too, but seeing it done in such a manner with such truly professional standards, feelsgoodman
This is awesome! Thank you for sharing this. As a junior director working on low budget commercials it’s great to see what can be done with smaller shoots.
The fake zoom ends up looking even better! Like you said, it fits the tone really nicely. It adds a subtle odd quality but you don't really notice why.
Hello, thank you for your video. I would appreciate hearing your recommendation. I'm considering upgrading from my Sony a6400 to a full-frame camera, and I'm facing a dilemma: whether to spend more and get the FX3 or save money and go for the ZV-E1, getting pretty much the same image but with the remaining funds invested in more lenses, etc? I shoot a variety of content, from events to weddings, so my direction is quite diverse. I really want to upgrade and start to make more professional videos, but I’m kinda stuck between these two and don’t know what to choose.
Always a delight to watch your videos Lewis! Will look into that massive umbrella for diffusion, looks much easier to travel lightly with than than the Aputure Domes.
This is great! Great tips and results! Loved the commercial too, so funny and well executed and nicely performed Gonna take a chance on that zoom effect soon Everything is on point ✨🤌 Thank You!!!
thank you for showing us the creative processes. A quick question on the spinning flipflop shots, would it be easier to paint the stick green and have it removed using chromakeys?
Wow, great video!! Huge question for you - how did you remove the stick with the spinning sandle on it - in post? I know how to mask out but you were moving at the same time.
Love It! Love the Crash Zoom effect. I have a shoot this weekend, I was wondering how I was going to do some of those shots. Definetly going to implement it.
The amount of useful info you manage to pack into a mere five minutes is insane. Your entire channel is a goldmine for budding cinematographers
Can't summarize this better....I love his videos too and what's funny is that he speak fairly slow but the videos pack such a pinch in less than 10 mins
Oh just a small kit… you know the Lomos on an A35, just a nice $130k camera package. Love you still Potts
thought the same thing. its all about perspective i guess.
Same thoughts haha where I live, a cámera like that is used only for big budget feature films or the biggest comercials. Nothing else, it's impossible to rent for lower stuff than that since there's only like 2 of them.
yeah thats what i was wondering when he said "low budget"
Don fogget dat 1200d bugger than wharever and 4 other lights.
He's saying low budget in the sense agency isn't forking out a ton on rentals, most of the camera dpt gear is his. Lovely lighting on the guy!
Cool trick with the 'fake zoom', seen it done before but not on a real project.
Keep these coming please

Great video as always!
Felt this comment on a different level lol
That white balance hack was beautiful because if you look at his face you can see a profound blue/orange look - this could have been exaggerated in the color grade but it feels like it accidentally did something special but really pleasing

Bruh. You just changed the game with that crash zoom with no zoom lens hack lol. Thank you
Cool way to create color contrast by just using daylight fixtures and playing with the white balance setting and getting it in camera! a lot of people think you have to have RGB lights everywhere because its on every music video when in fact you can achieve it without sacrificing skin tones as you demonstrated well done!
I really appreciate the effort you make to share your creative process! Thanks! Love it!

Thank You!!!
Thank you mate
many thanks and love from Korea. helped me a lot!
Lewis Potts is my hero
Amazing video as always! How does vfx remove the stick from the flip flop shot without having a plate to fill in the area that's been removed?
I can only guess they just used similar parts of the shot next to the stick and copied them
You're a legend, Lewis
You popped up on my recommendations and I just subbed! Really great info. Thank you!
Great Lighting!!
thank you for showing us the creative processes. A quick question on the spinning flipflop shots, would it be easier to paint the stick green and have it removed using chromakeys?
You still need to add in a background behind it
color grade was real nice on that ad 👌
3:43 How did you remove the stick??
This is so dope and helpful! Thanks
Nice breakdown, where can I watch the final vid?
wow bravo. im realising i always over expose my sift light for faces. I got to be confident to not put it at 70 percent all the dime
Wow, great video!! Huge question for you - how did you remove the stick with the spinning sandle on it - in post? I know how to mask out but you were moving at the same time.
I didn’t do it, we hired someone who does that kind of thing
That is the level of filmmaker that I would like to achieve. Thanks for sharing your experience...
Thank you for sharing your genius-ness!
