Hopefully, we will get Grandmasters like Hikaru Nakamura or Magnus Carlsen to play this game or even make a Pogchamps tournament. The funniest game I have seen in the top anime and best anime, and hope to see it more in the new upcoming anime 2021.
As a chess player who can read Japanese, I am happy to know that Japan has its own chess version. Definitely giving it a try!
You're in for a wild ride.
Greetings from America. I make my own Shogi boards and have a collection of pieces, including Hidetchi's International picture pieces.
Thank you! Hope we can get more people into the game :)
Hello do you have any instagram or something i can see your boards? Would you be intresting to sell one maybe? Im looking for a bigger board with bigger pices. Mine now is little small for my liking.
Your videos are the most helpful videos I’ve watched about learning shogi. You explain things so well. I am so happy I found your videos. I’ll likely have questions. Thanks for your videos.
I remember pawns by the Nike check at the bottom. big house and little house helped a lot, as well as lamp.
I’m a candidate master at Chess but fuck am I weak at Shogi. Mainly because of piece recognition.
Hi, I am from Poland and do not speak Japanese at all and have 0 kanji knowledge, however like shogi (and go) very much. I think for non-japanese to start is indeed to start with graphics and when you feel already comfortable with the rules, movements and strategy it is good to switch to one character pieces to get more familiar with the tradition and start benefiting from various tutorials. The best way to me to learn is to do exactly what children do at school when learning to write; rewrite one line of each piece character on a paper and you will be able to memorize. Not so easy for rook and dragon, but manageable :)
Yes, that's true, learning everything in one go can be very overwhelming.
Wow, you are learning to write them as well? I still can't write them (I can't write Chinese either) 😂😂
Very helpful! I appreciate the explanation:) keep up the good work
I am about to learn Shogi in 2021. A chess player learning how to play Asian version of chess like Qiang Xi (Chinese chess) too. A nice refresher from HIDETCHI channel.
Thank you so much! I learnt shogi thanks to HIDETCHI, and will try my best to finish this series so more people can get into Japanese Chess
I might also try to make an introduction to Chinese chess too someday :)
@@switchtactics5397 Nice Keep up with the lessons on shogi. Chinese Chess mechanism is interesting where there is a river and horse can't jump. unique character is the cannon.
@@investingwithaaron9876 Yes, I actually really like the cannon. I think it is a very interesting way to move, but I haven't made anything about the game because I am not really good at it hahaha
Correction: XiangQi not QiangXi
@@quykim8339 Thank you!
Dude, thank you very much! Please became the new HIDTECHI. I've started only week ago and fall in love
I will try to do my best! Oh, I am really glad to hear that, hope we can play someday ;)
@@switchtactics5397 let's play! Why not ?
@@babylonchild8341 I play on 81dojo mainly, maybe I will do some shogi stream soon :)
thanks for the help now i can understand the pieces
Hey! Where can I get a chess set like the one behind you? :)
I got it as a prize in a tournament, but you should be able to find it on sites like Amazon by searching for 'portable chess', like this: amzn.to/2XtuRgn :)
Gracias, saludos desde Madrid. Tengo que repetir el video varias veces.
Hahaah, es complicado si es la primera vez que usas caracteres japoneses :)
Muy bien
@@yunling6065 Gracias!
Ok so the easiest way to recognize shogi pieces is to learn Japanese.....got it.
Ich habe es mehrmals gesehen und es gefällt mir
Vielen dank!
The best
@@messijoan3686 Thank you!

Sorry for the delay, I will try to upload it soon. And thank you! I am really happy to know that there are people waiting for them :)
Lesson 3! :)
I came here to memorize because i was watching (Ryuuou no Oshigoto)
An anime about Shogi.
Thank for the lesson
I totally understand you, I started playing because of animes as well :p
I used to play xiangqi with my father (I am not chinese but I am an asian)
So the 2 characters piece (lower kanji) quite help
Thank you very helpful
You're welcome!
I can't read japanese, but i can speak japanese. Each pieces of a shogi can we know by knowing chinesse.
Yes! Knowing Chinese is definitely helpful, my Chinese is not really good, but even though, I feel like it made the process much easier :D
@@switchtactics5397 that's great :D
@@phillipaustintandry8779 Yes! Really like the game, hope you will also enjoy it :D

Other than those interested in the game already, how many found themselves here cause they keep getting their asses kicked by the AI opponents in Ryu Ga Gatoku/Yakuza?
🤣🤣
You're not wrong. I went into it thinking "I'm halfway decent at chess. This can't be much different." I fucked up.
what the anime of the thumbnail?
Gabriel Dropout ;)
The Chinese players get an easy life on this as they can read Kanji (aka Hanzi)
True, although in my case, I can't read or write Chinese 😂😂
but the real question is , is he better then shikamaru
Do you even need to ask that? 😏😏
👋👋👋💕💕💕
😁😁
I am passively learning Japanese and knew no kanji(from Shogi) yet I managed to learn pieces in 1 hour and able to recognise them instantly after 3 days. But then again I am a huge Japan otaku so its a given xd
whats your bmi and hygiene like
@@quuirv940 19 ish bmi and not sure how to quantify hygiene, but I do enough to not be a discomfort to people around me. Also funny how old this comment is by now I live in Japan and don’t play Shogi.
