- In this review I take a look at Vevor's 2"x82" belt grinder. After having a few quality issues that needed to be fixed, I was able to finally test it out and for the first time using a tool like this I can say that it is a little Intimidating. Even with the quality issues I had, this grinder is a phenomenal value and is definitely a contender in the market of belt grinders. I understand what you're saying about not needing a variable speed grinder. Single speed works just fine..... Yep, that's exactly what I said many times before I went to variable speed. Understand I'm using my grinder for knifemaking. For many things in knifemaking really need slow speed for the higher grits.
Now watching the total video I see you're using the grinder for heavy grinder. That high speed is what you want for that type of grinding. Good video - well done

Thank you for showing us the latest production variations. I agree with you about the changes to the main receiver, it certainly looks better this way.
I think this Vevor 2X82 will be sufficient for most makers and fabricators.
However, being a knife maker, I think I would rather build one of Brian House's 2X72s. The added versatility of that machine with the fact that bladesmiths remove less, but sometimes much harder metal make it a better choice.
Still, for the price, having one of Vevor's machines as an extra could be very helpful for a lot of makers. One could set up the Vevor with a coarse grit ceramic belt dedicated solely for bulk removal work and only change the belt when it was worn out. Then shift over to a more versatile machine for the finer detail work. I know that for maker professional bladesmith doing batch work on their more popular styles of blades, that simple option can make a big difference in the flow of their work day.

I really appreciate the value you added to this video by adding a lot of context with this comment. I plan on modifying this grinder to the more common 2"x72" grinder very soon. I really didn't touch on the "build your own grinders" and you make very valid points regarding them so... For the money that these cost I think they are good value and work very well, all things considered. Again thanks for watching and commenting.
@@ChallengeTheBuild Makers can always gain a little bit by watching another maker do something. Sometimes it's just a little thing, but sometimes it makes you think "Oh, wow, why haven't I been doing that all along!"
There is always so many possible variables that if you watch and try to learn, you can pick up something. It may not be useful today, but a few projects down the road you'll remember "I saw what's his name do that this way" and it will make all the difference in that project.

They need address the issues you raised quickly and make it known. While I would be willing to buy one at this price point I would not do so unless they change this up to a 72” belt. I have bought things from Vevor and they are of decent quality. This however as it sits would require too much modification to be a value purchase for me.

Also the little bit of time and money it takes to fix the switch (IF it's still a problem) still makes this belt grinder a good investment. Others cost upwards of 2 grand to start. Another comment, what is the diameter of the drive wheel? Looks like it could be 8" or so? 8" diameter give over 7,000 SFPM and boy is that zipping along. No wonder it grinds so fast.
The drive wheel on the motor is approximately 8.75" +/- in diameter. Appreciate all the feedback, thank you.👍
