Sang in this choir by invitation in mid nineteen forties. It was good then but I believe it is unsurpassed in chapel choirs worldwide. I believe the setting for this concert to be Merton College chapel
Pity that New College now recruits women altos -- for whom there is a vast repertoire, but not this, not here. College, crown, church in the UK are united in seeking to push down the memory hole this sound, this mood, this window into the divine. I doubt any choirs of men and boys will survive in the UK the 2020s.

Do those boys drool a lot or are the elizabethan collars to stop them licking their wounds? Seriously though, this is a really authentic, fresh and vital sound; New College are keeping up a great standard. Love the Tompkins.

@@treblechoir99 I thought NCO use countertenors for the alto parts? Boy altos would be more historically accurate for this piece, though.
