Hi mate, I’m married to a Thai lady also and I totally understand why you have moved to Thailand. My wife is from Buri Ram and I have built a modern home in her village and can’t wait to move over there myself. One more point you could add to your list is the people. How nice are the people over there. Everyone just treats you so well and like you said, they don’t judge you.

Overall they treat you good but every society you’ll be judged, happened to me a few times in my 1st trip to Thailand but overall they’re polite and I do enjoy Thailand ❤
Not a big Super Max fan or Christian Horner either, but not alot I can do they're running f1 atm 😂. You're absolutely spot on, everyone always smiles at you, says hello, asks what you're doing, I love it. If I lived in the cities I'd be viewed as another tourist. But here they appreciate you. Even the local police are great
I’m from Brisbane and we built a house in my wife’s village approximately 50km from Buri Ram city. Amazing people and food as you know. I remember the first time my wife took me to the village and we had lunch at a local “restaurant “ and I ate more spicy than my wife and the lady’s were amazed the deranged can eat spicy, it seems the whole village was talking about it.

I am married to Thai lady too, but she married me, just to move out of Thailand, not stable government, corruption and dictatorship, Thais work 50 hours a week for peanuts, they are not complaining to you, but they are far from happy, they can't travel, they don't have retirement, no sick leave and slaving to foreigners for less than livable wages 😢
I resonate with this 100% mate. I moved to Laos 4 years ago and never looked back. I'm not working to survive anymore, saving money and living a great lifestyle. Also agree with the health factor, in Laos there is no Burger King, KFC, McDonald's in the entire country and my spice tolerance is through the roof.

@@RickyIsaan yeah mate. First thing I do when I go through Bangkok airport is a beeline to Macca's. I've been to Udon Thani a few times for Visa runs in the past (I now have a 1 year work Visa) and you can tell the Laotians coming back on the bus to Laos. They usually have a bucket of KFC in each hand 🤣🤤

Good video Ricky, I agree with you 100%. Thailand is so much better as they don't focus that much on materialistic things. I am busy going through all my stuff at the moment, as I will be moving to Thailand next year and it is just crazy how much crap I have, so looking forward to downscale. Eating local is the best thing you can do for your body, minus the MSG, but that you can generally tell them not to put in your food. Keep up the content.

I agree with you Ricky with the number 1 reason to move was the weather and the cost of living here in Melbourne . Even the train fares have just gone up to $ 10.00 a day ticket or $ 5.00 one way into the city compare in Bangkok 45 Baht for the highest charge on the BTS . Envy you living there
$10 is ridiculous. Once the airport rail is operating they'll probably charge you $40 for that too 😂
@@RickyIsaan Don't laugh, the train from the Sydney airport to central station is $16 and is not very far at all. (13 minutes including stops)
You do realise 45 baht is more than 10% of the thai average daily wage. That a lot of Thais have to work 6 days a week. So the matrix is alive and well in Thailand except for the foreigner who can take advantage of the exchange rate
@@snitchy87 you mean minimum wage, not average wage. the average thai in bangkok (which is where the BTS is), is not making 9,000 thb a month and those who make 9,000 thb a month are not riding the BTS.
@Vishypoo the point being that for a large number of thai people 45 baht for a single trip is not cheap, and the $10 fare mentioned in Melbourne is for a day pass, which on the bts is 150 baht or $6.50aud so considering wage disparity it's no better than the West.
Hey Ricky. Great videos. I’m from Perth originally but now in Ubon and loving it.
Just something about your International Drivers License. Technically they are no good after 6 month so you will loose any insurance you may have. But because you have it getting a Thai driver’s license is very easy. All you have to do an eye sight test and a reflex test….no examination practical or written. They give you 2 years to start then 5+ after that.

Cheer mate, I have looked into it. The issue I have is I have to go to immigration to apply for the certificate of residency, then go back again. That's 9 hours of driving just for that, being over 2 hours from my immigration department. Really not worth it at the moment. But next time I am down in Korat City I will get the first step sorted, depending on timing.
After watching this I think I’ve made my mind up to move to Thailand to get out of the rat race I’m 47 so will have to wait until 50 to do it properly I guess unless you know another way Ricky 😊
I'd say look over the visas and match it to your requirements. People do the border runs every few months. I also believe there is a Muay Thai Visa where you can train in a gym and get a year visa, could be fun 😂. And could essentially get you a year closer to 50

I very much agree with all your reasons for enjoying life in Thailand, well explained. I also hated the cold, wet winters in Melbourne with the only bonus being able to watch the doggies play. Talking about footy big game tonight, dogs playing swans in Sydney tonight. Must win game, go doggies!!

Hi Ricky🧐Living here, in lreland☘️summer’s aren’t bad, bright at 5am until 10pm. But winters are 50 shades of grey, bloody well depressing .l have been to Thailand 🇹🇭 many times, and loved it there, the only thing I’d miss if I went to live in Thailand is my pint of Guinness 👍
I hear Ireland is great and the people are fantastic. My heritage goes back to Ireland so wouldn't mind visiting one day, regardless of the weather. Also would love to checkout the Gaelic Football seeing as it has similarities to Aussie Rules Football
Total agree dude, it was enlightening and invigorating when I got rid of all my 💩 back in the UK. You just don't need that much stuff in Thailand. The west has been failing for many years now and I just feel sorry for people that have to put up with the bs.

6:15 I am a Singaporean. I visit Thailand often. I learnt the Thai language in Singapore. And it is true in Singapore. Too many licensing, government wants us to align our personal goals with the government's, expensive to live, etc. I always feel a deep sense of peace and spiritual freedom in Thailand. Nobody there expect anything from me. And I love the Thai countryside. Singapore is a squeeze.

I don't know about you but I hate being felt like a foreigner in my own country.
Out here in Isaan they love the fact that a foreigner is living in their small town. Personally I feel more welcomed than being in AUS. But everyone is different. When we visit a holiday destination or Bangkok you feel like another tourist in the eyes of the Thais compared to being welcome here in Isaan.

I’d choose rural Thailand over Australia and I was planning to move at the end of the step sons high school in 3 years, but the misses is worried about money, so she wants to stay here for another 7 years. Countless governments keep on with their individual agendas, even thou the Australian voting public have voted against them voting previous governments out of power. Working poor are taxed too much to pay for people that refuse to work. Misses can’t understand why people who are able bodied but don’t go to work, until we move in 7 years, I’ll have to just put up with visiting.
Hoping you both find a way to move earlier. Not wrong about the benefits for those who refuse to work, maybe we're the silly ones Jason 😂

I loved everything you said mate as you nailed if . As I am a very similar guy like yourself in how see my daily life in Thailand once I finally get there un the future .
I’m also the type to spend my day being busy with keeping fit , eating well , but I would certainly like to have a handful of guys like yourself that would be good to stay in touch with from time to time so it still feels like home .
I intend to also start a you tube Chanel based on a good living a good healthy lifestyle using my age as a motivation to show so many retired farrangs that try here is a much better alternative to sitting at bars day in day out drinking , smoking and spending truck loads of money on bar girls and happy endings .
I don’t understand how so many farrangs hit Thailand with that mentality and desire to slowly kill themselves and blowing all of that hard earned money .
I think you have your time so well allocated and can understand how busy you would be with all of the things that you do each day .
And you are so right about happiness in Thailand , as I am definitely not a wealth person , and when I visit my wife’s family in rural Thailand ( Leoi ) they have very little , and when I with them , it makes me feel so relaxed and any thoughts about material things being important .
By the way “ most of the trolls are usually older angry unhappy farrangs that are the type that get to Thailand and simply winge about all of the things that make Thailand such a great place to live .
And they get jealous of people like yourself that are living a happy life with very little . As they could never do what you are doing .

Do you ever experience lag playing with your friends online?
If you're playing with friends on certain severs where they are based you will have increased latency depending how far that server is. Can't avoid that regardless of the internet. I'd often play Warzone on Aus servers and it wasn't too bad, but definitely a difference from playing on Asian. However the internet speeds here are amazing, much better than what we can get in Australia

Not sure, never heard rain on a solar panel tin roof before 😂. But you'd assume it probably would reduce the noise in sections. I'm not that fussed, can't say it rains that hard often

Im 57 now and worked out I will need to keep working until at least 70 to be able to afford to stay in Australia....so will relocate to Philippines in the next year or so...
It's absolute madness. And then at 70 you'll probably still need to budget or be cautious. People should be absolutely enjoying themselves at the age
I am the same age as you Richard and couldn’t agree more , me and my wife are renting here in Melbourne and we need to save as much as we can in the next 10 years before finally escaping this ridiculously expensive country that most struggle to survive each month .
The only other way to get out of here early is to save up enough money to build a moderate home on my wife’s land back in Thailand , and start up some kind of business or start a side hustle here online that could create a passive income that you can operate in a mobile way , that you no need to live here in Melbourne anymore run it .

Not sure if the quality of life is as great as people think for Australia, particularly when you look at work life balance. Healthcare is very affordable in Thailand too. I don't drink so I think I'll be safe in that sence. But appreciate your comment

People can put Australia down but l am thankful that l’ve made enough money to retire here in los. You Ricky may never get the pension and will lose your Medicare after 5 years. I retired at 56 and moved to Thailand but will never receive pension due to my hard work and great opportunities in Australia.

Thailand won't but it's customary for Thai children to look after their parents, especially out here in Isaan. Expecting two daughters very soon and putting plenty away to invest in their education, obviously anything could happen however but with current incomes and the evolving online income opportunities that will continue, I'm not stressed. Got my bachelor degree as an 'insurance policy'. Plus Australia isn't gonna let a citizen be homeless, it's the land of endless handouts.
AI is the real issue for jobs worldwide, not just in Australia, billions around the world will lose employment and its coming super fast. Curious to see how any nation will handle that. The future regardless is going to be messy for many I believe

I hear you. I spent 3 months in 2022 in my girlfriends village in the Kalasin area. I had been to the village several times previously, but for only short times.
Unfortunately it is not for me. The boredom got to me, other than a Belgium guy and my GF , they were the only people who could speak English.
I admire you for giving it ago, but it is not for me, I spent years working on farms in New Zealand, so I am not afraid of hard work or farm life by any means.
I definitely agree it's not for everyone. Probably why so many foreigners prefer living amongst each other in tourist cities

There is a few on RUclips. I watch Ryan's channels from Buriram. I also like 'Life in Thailand' he's on a farm in Nong Bua Lam Phu and makes some great content. Where I live, I might see one or two farangs in town a month, but if I go to the big towns you usually see a couple here and there. But there's definitely not many around

All makes sense to me Ricky. I'm a former Victorian too. One thing, you mentioned people with their $750k houses and their holiday homes 555. $750k will only get you some shithole waaaaay out west in Melbourne with no amenities and you have to squint driving into work and squint on the way home. I doubt those battlers have a holiday home 555. I get the point though
The pricing is crazy. You're absolutely right you'll get a tiny piece of land with no yard in Tarniet or Clyde for that so called 'bargain price' lol
@@RickyIsaan so true mate , as my dad lives in tarneit and my mate lives in clyde and for $750k all you get is a small 3 bedroom house on a postage stamp size land and the traffic is a nightmare due to about a million people all living their because it is the cheapest area for an entry point for getting into the housing market for first home Byers .
Can you imagine what you can get in Thailand for that same amount 17 million baht 🤪 you would build a mansion on a few rye with a tennis court , swimming pool , gymnasium , night club and maybe even a bowling alley . # 555
My only down side I have drive 62km to have game golf, great place catch up with guys.
True didn't think about something like Golf. Not many around out here, but I guess there's always a spot that can work as your own personal driving range. I do dislike that there is minimal sporting ovals/facilities overall in rural Thailand
@rickyisaan yes have driving range 6rai land fruit and banana on boundary, bit of investment land for my dauther.
On the point of not being able to hear the formula 1 on the telly, check to see if it's bluetooth compatible. If it is you can link it to bluetooth headphones. Another plus of that is they have a 10m range, so you can still hear the action if you need to move around the house.

Appreciate it mate. When I went back for a short visit it actually shocked me how aggressive everyone was on the roads. The roads are literally nothing compared to Thailand and so many people are relaxed and happy

Hit Thaimatch first. Also. Learn to speak a little Isaan and Thai. The two languages have a bit in common. Very few people in Isaan speak English. It's very difficult to have a relationship with someone who doesn't speak a lot of English if you don't speak a lot of their language either.
I married my wife from Nakhon Phanom last month. They're just the best people and I was very lucky to meet a girl who speaks conversational level English.
Wouldn't have a clue Billy. But like Steve said probably best to learn some Thai as English is definitely less known out here. I'd have to say any big Isaan city might have what you're looking for. Nakhon Ratchasima is huge and Khon Kaen is pretty big too with an airport that has cheap flights to from BKK

Total agreement Ricky there is always plenty to do around the house and then if you need to buy anything its off to chaiyaphum,be it big c,makro,home pro it usually takes up most of the day.For me going to the market at 6am to buy vegetable waste for the ducks and chooks destroys having a sleep in. I like to shop at local stores where possible,however most times they do not have stock or the stock they do have is inferior quality-usually from china and grossly overpriced due to high import exise.
