Nice collection! One note here about octane: if you use vertex displacement you should turn autobump on and subdivide via the material you do not need the tag. And if an object has uvs, use texture displacement as it is way lighter and not dependant on poly count. Cheers!
I was also wondering why he used vertex displacement i literally use almost everytime the texture displacement and it looks as i expect it to look.... but ill maybe have to try vertex displacement more often to see a difference. Thanks anyway nick! Great mats tho!
@@3rdDim3nsn3D you should not use vertex displacement unless you have noises or lack of uvs. This one is heavy, subdivides the objects literally. Texture displacement is the one you should use 99% of the times as it can be used even on a single polygon.

Beautiful new collection! One thing about this specific setup tho, I don't think vertex displacement supports motion blur in octane (At least this was the case the last time I needed it)

Yeah I was wondering about this… wonder why they’ve used the object tag to subdivide the mesh?

@@MotionPunk yeah thats the reason i use tex disp almost all the time. Thank you for your tip man, i really appreciate it!
Man, I've GSGPlus and I didn't even know about these materials, thank you Nick!

Nice, if only i had a usecase for that in my work
It's here when you need it.

I dont understand with octane, why do they force you to turn on vector displacement? makes your files 10x bigger and impossible to work on
