I live in St Pete and I help feed the homless here and in Tampa. Feeding Tampa Bay is an organization that provides meals for them 6 days a week and is fully volunteer driven. I can tell you this: there is a MUCH higher quality of life for the St Pete homeless than the Tampa folks. That is not to minimize anyone's struggle, but the truth is St Pete is very nice even for homeless. We really do take care of them.

As a real homeless guy I would like to say that they are two different kind of people who are homeless one of them is not homeless that is drug attic and drunks so they are claiming to be homeless because they leave a mess we’re ever they stay but real people who are homeless don’t be using drugs i so tired of people who see this situation and just assume that we are all living in the same way I just wanted to set the record straight

Im in cape coral Florida. I know a gentleman that combined forces with some friends and family and bght 20 homes in one area and instantly doubled the rents. Double or more. They were all already very wealthy before this. If the renters didn't want to sign a new lease with the new rates, they were welcome to leave. Renters that had been in some homes for 10, 15 and 20 years. People who were grounded in the community with kids in local schools and churches. Of course this gentleman had a realtor handle any confrontations so he didn't have to witness the wreckage and turmoil. It helps him sleep better at night. I know all of this because i was a handyman for him for a while. I will no longer do work for him. They are still buying up property regularly and creating a positive cash flow for all invested. Greed rules the day. Its the name of the game. And the rich keep getting richer as us lower class struggle to survive.

You keep saying it's disrespectful but where are we supposed to go. I live here an my rent went from $800 to $2400 overnight. You're making the st Petersburg homeless sound like awful drug addicted thieves when that isn't the case at all. There is that element but most of us just want to be able to afford some basic comforts. We're just trying to survive. I work 10 hrs a day and it still isn't enough to afford a place to live here.

You can get free hot meals at Northwest Church Mon-Fri. Pleasse come everyday if you have a need. God bless you. The food is excellent, I personally eat everything with 0 complaints. In fact the butter chicken is the best in the city hands down.

The shelters in Pinellas county are horrid! In my opinion ! I was at them last year ! All the staff needs to be arrested and thrown in jail ! A man who still works in the front at Pinellas Hope, he lets a guy in every evening who puts beer in bottom of soda box , the guy already has 2 dui’s , and this same guy , his sister gives him a bag of Xanax ! This guy is a nightmare, living at Pinellas Hope and like I say the staff are abusive, kick people out in any second ! Staff lies all the time !!!!!

"Ecological Destruction" from a homeless camp is NOTHING in comparison to the MASSIVE widespread permanent damage done by industrial waste, industrial farming and mining in Florida. I might have subbed, but, I can't agree with nor endorse, your trying to sensationalize the environmental effect of homelessness. Most are people who are just trying to survive.

Also a fraction of the military budget or all the hands outs given to banks and corporations would fix this. We should focus on corrupt at the top. Instead, we get distracted by people that gave up on this system.

Hello Jose, It sounds like you're feeling better now, hopefully you are. Excellent video on St Petersburgs homeless camps. It's an unfortunate reality when some folks find themselves in this situation. The gentrification of many cities including St Petersburg are forcing some folks into this way of life. Of coarse the addicts, etc are in it by chosen lifestyle. Take care and God Bless. (watch out for those rattlers)

I've lived here for 50 yrs
My entire life. I've seen since 2020 these investors have come into all of the low income areas and bought them up and left no place for poor ppl let alone the already large homeless population to go. If u want to blame anyone blame the masses of ppl who've moved here and run so many out.
