I remember searching up videos on RUclips back in 2008 looking for the house shows they would do now they are one of the biggest bands in metal and have marked them on the metal scene as one of the pillars of it. Nothing but the absolute highest respect and love for whitechapel.
I don't have words to describe what Whitechapel means to me. Especially Phil, you've been a massive inspiration for me, a big teacher and the songs being my emotional support.
I dont care what people think of this album. I love it. I have since it released and itll never change. From somatic defilement to now. I can truly appreciate phils singing and his lyrics. Anyone who invested their own personal heart into their lyrics always shows their true emotion and it serves a stronger purpose; versus singing about butchering a woman and sowing her shut aka vicer exciser etc
And after all these years, i still get chills watching whitechapel videos. If I’m lucky ill get to see them for the first time these year. Whitechapel is iconic
'Kin' has been released for just over 2 years and I've only just realised that the bracketed lyrics in the chorus; “I (I), the eye closed its final time As I had walked through the flames Will (Will), the will of a beast Is nothing compared to the will of a God Find (Find), I'll find my peace When the bones of the devil lay at my feet You (You), you and I are one” represent the devil saying "I will find you"!!!! This music video really emphasised that and provided me with that epiphany/point of realisation. I always knew the lyrics in the above verse, and in this case, for the entire record were written as if the words were being spoken by the author (Phil) (or his 'good' side or "real self" as mentioned in the description of this video) and his "alternate reality/evil self" (also as referenced in the description), written and performed as if transitioning between direct dialogue between the two entities/"selves", were bracketed for a reason and always thought this was because they were used to signify ad-libs or backing vocals when recording/tracking vocals for the album and when listeners reading over the lyrics, but I never second-thought them and knew to dive into deeper detail! I love the way the scene at 3:10 captured the moment the process of the author's (Phil's) two entities/"realities"/"selves" merged, his past finally rejoining his soul, his present, and he is whole, and they (his past and present) are (he is) one, and he is able to forge his future with his own two hands (almost like a re-awakening, a new birth, a renewal, a cleansing, healing state)! This visual aspect to the audio really sums it up, for me! Even though I don't have exactly the same story as the author (Phil), as everyone is unique and different from each other, I very much relate to this song/video, as in one way or another, on all our different paths, and slight little intricacies, twists, minute details, turns, differences, and deviations from the story of this song/video and the author (Phil), and each other, we can all find a shared space for our similarities as we are miniaturely different as we are all connected, as we are all humans, as we are all worthy, where we can each relate on differing/varying levels/ranges. Aside, cinematography is awesome! Costume/makeup design is great! And aesthetic/setting (love the rest of the boys just jamming in the forest!) and acting is good! I have to say, story and production (everything) included, this is the best music video ever!
for a few years now i feel that white chapel has become the pantera of modern metal. they have diversified, expanded there sound, there emotion, there brutality, there storytelling to a point where i feel that they deserve a seat at the table of greatest of our time. these last 3 albums have been nothing but superb, and this new song is beauitful. well done
@@Nall412 It's still better than anything Pantera has ever done. And if you hate cleans, you'd better get used to them and quick. Cleans will be taking over Deathcore. Soon it will be nothing but Melodic Blackened Deathcore.
I wish I could write to Phil personally and thank him for this absolute legendary piece of music. This might be my favorite song out of Whitechapel's discography. This song speaks to my core, it's so powerful and it's perfectly balanced. Not to mention, someone hailing from Tennessee and seeing these woods really makes me think I am in these woods with them. This song helped me through so much and I have much empathy for Phil and his childhood. What a great band, record, and song specifically.
@@RowdyChocolateOfficial not really since Whitechapel doesn't sound like a metal band now. They have turned more like progressive rock. Although corpse paint is predominant with black metal Kiss did it way back. I will be surprised if Whitechapel goes black metal influenced on this
@@Prathik62 Corpse paint along with that pattern seems very black metal. The new direction does feel prog rock but the vocals go hard. I love that. I do wish they go back to making purely heavy music. Or maybe minimal clean vocals like in The Valley which I really enjoyed.
Most bands I like, I hear they're going back to their old school style and it's the best news ever. But Whitechapel doing it would be so regressive. This new prog Whitechapel is THE BEST they've EVER sounded. Last two albums are their best. Keep the progginess!
Lost my dad ten years ago when I was 20. Lost my mom yesterday when I'm 30. I'm struggling with not slitting my wrist's, sometimes we wish we could kill the devil and get our loved ones back, but I've learned that's not ok. We in our despair and sorrow, stoop so low to hurt ourselves or loved ones.
Whitechapel, if you all somehow see this. Please play this song on your alls next tour. I've already bought tickets, and I'm forcing my friends to go. And this was the song that thoroughly gives me hope that they'll be fans as well. 🙂
As someone who hasn't revisited Whitechapel in quite some time, finding this evolution in songwriting, story telling, and emotion from their earlier works, Amazing (needs that capital A!). I look forward to revisiting your past and what your future brings.
It is conversation between God devil and man? Im not sure BC my english isnt good enough to translate this song word by word and still keeping the meaning of the verses

Opening with “the devil is dead” paved the way for the excellent sister record to Kin. A breath of new light on Phil and WC. Adore this album and cannot wait to see you guys again next month.

Man I remember being a young lad and jamming some very brutal Whitechapel, it seems like yesterday. Whitechapel is one of the few bans that has become more and more epic over the years, and the last two albums are absolute masterpieces
Kin is my favorite album of any band ever. There may be more popular albums, there may be better albums according to most people. But this album resonates with me in a way that no other has.

@M. Swaiti666 this particular song, yes. But the band are traditionally deathcore. They definitely took a different approach with KIN and I love them all the more for it
As much as I love the first 3 albums, all staples of deathcore imo, this is something different I agree. I think these guys are currently at their creative peak. And I love it.
Just reading lyrics like phils and brody's from rivers of nihil could honestly be published into a book. I find myself reading these lyrics more than alot of others. Great writing.
Obviously the musicians are great, as they always have been, plus the improvements. Phil has an amazing texture and articulation. Masters of their craft.
This song and your last couple of albums are as metal as they can get, just raw emotion. Keep fighting your demons Phil. But you cant do it alone, call out to Jesus with all your heart and he will deliver you from evil. I'm rooting for ya man, keep fighting.
I’ve always been a huge fan of Phil’s vocals. One of my fave metal vocalists and one of the first He just kills it here! Love this album so much! The whole thing slaps! And the first Deathcore band I really got into. This video tho, Phil in corpse paint, now that’s incredible! I can’t get enough of it!
The devil is dead
I have never felt the way that I have until I left the valley in flames
Let it burn, let it die, blind the all-seeing eye
But I know smoke will never clear in hell
The smell of burning oak makes me sick
Still, I breathe deep
Still, I cross to the other side
But I hear a voice behind me say
I (the eye closed its final time as I had walked through the flames)
WILL (the will of a beast is nothing compared to the will of a god)
FIND (I’ll find my peace when the bones of the devil lay at my feet)
YOU (you and I are one, mark my words, I will find you)
A beast will always smell the blood of a coward
And a narrow-minded fool will always follow down the narrow path
To the blade that can make a god bleed
Still, you are weak
You’re just a boy with his mother’s eyes
That carries the weight of his father’s heart
I always feel like there’s something that I’ve left behind
It’s not a possession or any acceptance of life, it’s me
What is the point of running away when you don’t know who you are
I’ll always be one step behind until you realize who I am
Amazing lyrics

Listen to Kin. Front to back, please. That was an unmatchable experience for me.
Listen to the album Kin , then the Valley!
Been listening to Kin on loop since. Its fantastic!!! TY guys!
Listen to the album
This is pure power, and taking control. Listen to it again. And then again. Peace at it's finest....
And after all these years, i still get chills watching whitechapel videos. If I’m lucky ill get to see them for the first time these year. Whitechapel is iconic
'Kin' has been released for just over 2 years and I've only just realised that the bracketed lyrics in the chorus; “I (I), the eye closed its final time
As I had walked through the flames
Will (Will), the will of a beast
Is nothing compared to the will of a God
Find (Find), I'll find my peace
When the bones of the devil lay at my feet
You (You), you and I are one” represent the devil saying "I will find you"!!!! I have to say, story and production (everything) included, this is the best music video ever!
for a few years now i feel that white chapel has become the pantera of modern metal. they have diversified, expanded there sound, there emotion, there brutality, there storytelling to a point where i feel that they deserve a seat at the table of greatest of our time. these last 3 albums have been nothing but superb, and this new song is beauitful. well done
Don't insult Whitechapel like that.
What they’re doing now is garbage
Damn never thought I’d be seeing Phil Bozeman in a corpse paint
Well it’s pretty metal 🤷♀️
@@RowdyChocolateOfficial not really since Whitechapel doesn't sound like a metal band now. They have turned more like progressive rock. Although corpse paint is predominant with black metal Kiss did it way back. I will be surprised if Whitechapel goes black metal influenced on this
@@Prathik62 Corpse paint along with that pattern seems very black metal. The new direction does feel prog rock but the vocals go hard. I love that. I do wish they go back to making purely heavy music. Or maybe minimal clean vocals like in The Valley which I really enjoyed.
@@Prathik62 They are prog but they're still metal. Damn, listen to those riffs and that growling
@@Prathik62 there is Not a singel rock band doing death growls, Touch some grass please
I absolutely this band! the vocal talent that Phil has is phenomenal just the way he can go from hard to clean is impressive. Great video keep it up
@@Skepsis710 But his voice is good ngl
2:50 dude I would kill for a whole album or side project with the clean singing!
Most bands I like, I hear they're going back to their old school style and it's the best news ever. But Whitechapel doing it would be so regressive. This new prog Whitechapel is THE BEST they've EVER sounded. Last two albums are their best. Keep the progginess!
The transitions between him now and him as a kid, the makeup, the traumatic lyrics and the solos and riffs.. Amazing work
What an incredible visual to this song. Almost brought tears to my eyes. These dude never disappoint.
Phil can still dominate a sick vocal after all this year ❤❤❤
Lost my dad ten years ago when I was 20. Lost my mom yesterday when I'm 30. I'm struggling with not slitting my wrist's, sometimes we wish we could kill the devil and get our loved ones back, but I've learned that's not ok. We in our despair and sorrow, stoop so low to hurt ourselves or loved ones.
Hope you get better man
Loved the song when they dropped it, but this video is cinema
Been listening to these guys for 15 years and still impressed how legible Phil's vocals are while still being so heavy. Gotta love these dudes.
Whitechapel, if you all somehow see this. Please play this song on your alls next tour. I've already bought tickets, and I'm forcing my friends to go. And this was the song that thoroughly gives me hope that they'll be fans as well. 🙂
they said no they hate this song.
I saw them last December and they played it. I'll be seeing them next month too. Hopefully they play it again
As someone who hasn't revisited Whitechapel in quite some time, finding this evolution in songwriting, story telling, and emotion from their earlier works, Amazing (needs that capital A!). I look forward to revisiting your past and what your future brings.
The song takes on even more meaning with the video. Another masterpiece.
Exactly!
It is conversation between God devil and man? Im not sure BC my english isnt good enough to translate this song word by word and still keeping the meaning of the verses
Such a great band ! One of the most under-rated bands out there. See them live they are truly amazing, one of the best live bands out there they always bring it hard. This is a great song and great video.
Yes. Phil will always be the 🐐
Underrated? Whitechapel has been a top band of the genre for YEARS. FAR from underrated.
@@Remmy0930 Agree totally didn't mean that in any kind of bad way.
Opening with “the devil is dead” paved the way for the excellent sister record to Kin. A breath of new light on Phil and WC. Adore this album and cannot wait to see you guys again next month.
Like a record to my own childhood, similar but different but darkly darkly similar. Thank you Phil for sharing on the last two records big time! Huge fan of the whole team! Can’t wait to see this, I imagine the make up you have own was once how I wanted to be and real as a child enduring physical and mental abuse daily for 18 years. You kind of feel something like the character you might be portraying. I’m 33 now but have listening to you guys as a source of fuel and rage and release in many a gym work out THANK YOU 🤘🏼🇺🇸⚔️🐺
HOW DID I MISS THIS?! So glad this song got a MV.
i showed this to a co worker and now i got him hooked 😂😂😂
Finally...this song deserved a video clip...PURE EPICNESS
2:42 That clean singing is so good I want to loop it for 3 hours before letting the song go forward again.
From the day I heard you over 10 years ago, I never thought I'd be here now. Crazy well done, the evolution the past few albums, lyrical content and themes has just been spectacularly done!
Couldn't have stopped on more... can't come up with the definition. Damn, it's great
Man I remember being a young lad and jamming some very brutal Whitechapel, it seems like yesterday. Whitechapel is one of the few bans that has become more and more epic over the years, and the last two albums are absolute masterpieces
I loved this song, the melodic combination with fierce metal roars sounds good.
Kin is my favorite album of any band ever. There may be more popular albums, there may be better albums according to most people. But this album resonates with me in a way that no other has.
This song hit me so hard emotionally It finally got me sober after a decade of true darkness. 🤘🏼
"You’re just a boy with his mother’s eyes
That carries the weight of his father’s heart"
FUUUUUU..... i felt that line
Mr. Bozeman just gets better with age. fuck yeah i needed this today!
💞 you have to understand and learn from real truth✨this is how boys become men and girls become women🤍🖤
Ngl lie that line made me tear up a bit
"The will of a beast is nothing compared to the will of a God" hit so hard.. being 7+ Months clean from Meth I've changed so much, and feel like the addicted version of me really was a demon, especially having BPD and a shit load of other diagnosis'. Now that I'm learning to live with the pain and the mental illness, I really do feel like a God and will never go back to that life.
Whitechapel has always been in my top 3, and I generally don’t like when bands go softer but this…this is genuinely great music
The fact that you guys, Lorna shore, and kublai khan are playing in kcmo together is exactly what I needed in life. Definitely coming to support y’all’s music and everyone else that has helped me through hard and tough times. Thank you for making music the way you’ve been doing so. So ready for the show on September 30th
This band has changed so much... and im here for all of it.
This is such an amazing song. Whitechapel is 🔥🔥🔥🔥
"you're just a boy with his mother's eyes, that carries the weight of his father's heart"
bro, the evolution of this band is amazing! Phil is the GOAT😈
Phil Bozeman, from This is Exile to today, you are incredible, you broke your limits and you are giving new colors to Whitechapel.
The kin album from start to finish is brilliant, and to release this song as video. Whitechapel I salute you🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘
Was on the city bus in Phoenix with my son on my way home on my visitation and someone told me as we spoke about metal about whitechapel never looked back although I'm 56 now amd know alot about metal this moves me and i hope i can find my son again and conquer dependancy lyrics are everything
Hell yeeeaaahhh !!! Thanks for this MASTERPIECE!
gotta always appreciate the fresh sound they bring without even slowing down
Two weeks ago this song showed up in my spotify recommened list. I was verry surprised that this album seems to have been released in 2021 and I that I have never hearded of this band and this album before. The whole album has been on repeat for two weeks now. This album is a a masterpiece that is unlikely to be surpassed.
I love you guys, anytime yall are close to my town I go and see yall, iv seen yall 20 times atleast
True legends of deathcore, I absolutely love the direction they took with KIN 🤘
I wouldn't call this deathcore. It's melodic death metal and I LOVE it
@M. Swaiti666 this particular song, yes. But the band are traditionally deathcore. They definitely took a different approach with KIN and I love them all the more for it
1000 frickin percent
@@MoSweiti666🤦♂️
As much as I love the first 3 albums, all staples of deathcore imo, this is something different I agree. I think these guys are currently at their creative peak. And I love it.
4:00 - 4:15 OMFG.... this particular part... it's so F** amazing.... 😮
The clean vocals in this are so awesome.
2:51 my favorite part throughout ❤️
Just reading lyrics like phils and brody's from rivers of nihil could honestly be published into a book. I find myself reading these lyrics more than alot of others. Great writing.
He is almost full circle.. Darkness to the light.....great transformation! A beast has no power over a God! Especially The Most High!❤️👑🔥🔥🔥💥
this band is just getting better and better.
Obviously the musicians are great, as they always have been, plus the improvements. Phil has an amazing texture and articulation.
Masters of their craft.
One of their best to date. Kin is a masterpiece
love the jam session in the woods! Just get lost in the music and listen...
This song and your last couple of albums are as metal as they can get, just raw emotion. Keep fighting your demons Phil. But you cant do it alone, call out to Jesus with all your heart and he will deliver you from evil. I'm rooting for ya man, keep fighting.
Imagina esse cara, com suas história de vida.. lutando com Jesus ao lado dele 🙏
This is sooo crushingly beautiful. This is Whitechapel
Okay fine, I'll listen to The Valley and Kin back to back for the 50th time again😂
Yep lol me too
You and me both
They've consistently NOT let me down.
How can people say this song is not brutal?! Just coz the cleans? This is a fucking masterpiece and the cleans make it heavier, Phil is a monster!
A lot of people lack emotional nuance and think that harsh = heavier.
My first chapel song.. So melodic.. dark.. bluesy jazzy... and goood :)
The Valley and Kin will always be one of the best lp´s ever!
❤❤❤I'm in love with this song! Whitechapel never bores me and always a go to. Been listening to this nonstop.
I can feel some true Opeth touch here... Never heard about Whitechapel before, but it hitted really hard. Fantastic band !!! what a solo also
In Flames Whoreacle
This album has fast, crazy, and Melody. That's what I'm looking for. Thanks Whitechapel.
