LYRICS:
Into a dream from which we’ll never wake up
Undo the changes that left us jaded
Let’s never open our eyes
I’m sorry I have to let you know
They don’t look at us the same
Their skin is burned, their mind is somewhere else
What do you see that I don’t see
This house is poisoned beyond repair
And the souls of our past life are trapped on the inside
I know you’re unwell but I’m turning my back on you
With you it stays the same, you run away from everything
For once in your life, listen to what I say and we will fall
Into a dream from which we’ll never wake up
Undo the changes that left us jaded
Let’s never open our eyes
But our eyes are closed no matter what you’ve created
I refuse control from a delusional sadist
I refuse this relation
I’m above what you are, I’m a father’s son
I’ll cut our throat if you don’t let me go
I refuse this relation
Undo these changes
That left us jaded
Into a dream, we’ll never open our eyes
Into a dream from which we’ll never wake up
Undo the changes that left us jaded
Let’s never open our eyes
But our eyes are closed no matter what you’ve created
I refuse control from a delusional sadist

I grew up in a physically abusive and mentally abusive household, my father was my demon, I joined the military and the demons grew in strength it wasn’t until years recently I’ve learned the demon is me, the weak me that needs me needs my compassion. I’m lucky to still be here today, im lucky to see you here to Phil, and the boys thank you guys.
On repeat
Phil Bozeman is a beast. Whether he's growling like a wounded mountain lion or singing, he can do it all. I will always love Whitechapel.

I’m 35 years old and music still helps me with my everyday life, helps deal with things going on in my life. When this album dropped I lost my little sister. I have been listening to this album none stop. I cry when I hear this song. I feel the emotion, the lyrics.
Very sorry for your loss… I’m not sure what else to say… just hang in there!
@@tzortzos_aristotle thank you
I'm 60 and I like this music.
keep it up Brother , music was always the best cure too deal with my mom sucide , united we are more strong
@@dancarlton7973 I'm 60 also kept hearing the intro too anticure it caught my attention started listening too the band
Kin was the best album of 2021. Change my mind.
Why would I do that when you’re right
¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Archspire was mine, but Whitechapel rules! I've been a Whitechapel fan since, *This is Exile*
Straight up factual
No lies detected.
It’s FUCKIN KILLER
No autotune, no BS lyrics, just emotion. Whitechapel still one of my tops and will always be in the game! I like A LOT of heavy bands but let me tell you, their music just hits so damn hard.
Thank you guys! Your songs keep me going during one of the most difficult periods of my life. I hope that I will make the right choice.😊
This album has one of the best mixes I have ever heard. Those drums are so satisfying.
So crisp 👌🏼
Markkkkkkkk is the MAN
I know right??? Those drums sound so fucking good.
Usually, when a band changes their sound so drastically, it sparks a lot of dislike in the community since they want the "old band" back. But damn, Whitechapel owning everything from The Somatic Defilement to Kin. Chapeau guys, Chapeau!
🤣🤣🤣🤣
Yeah the new album is a killer!! Every whitechapel fans love it
I mean they're still getting the typical "if it's not brutal 24/7 then it sucks" type of comments. Especially on their Facebook page, but I agree!
Idk how people can hear how Phil has evolved as a vocalist or how the band has evolved and just dismiss the entire album as "butt rock" or some dumb shit.
Their guitarist made a great point in an interview I saw regarding the evolution of their sound.
"In Deathcore it's damned if you do, damned if you don't."
I think The Valley might be my favorite metal album of all time honestly, but I think Kin is a masterpiece. People pretending they're aren't "metal enough" anymore need to stop gatekeeping this shit. That kind of attitude is exactly why metal's popularity has been really frozen for a while.
@@gghhyo5799 it's not that it's not heavy or brutal. It's that it's 100% identical to early 2000s nu/alt metal, some parts sound exactly like Breaking Benjamin. There's 0 originality in this this.
@@gghhyo5799 This song specifically is definitely butt rock. It's basically a chunkier hybrid of Hinder meets Seether. Getting past that, I think it's a wonderful song when you don't try to assign it a genre and I'm glad to hear that Bozeman using his cleans more in moments like these.
This was my number 1 song on my Spotify. Honestly this album helped me through my grandmother’s passing. The emotions were overwhelming and this album really helped me heal.
Whitechapel has been my favorite metal band since 2007 and KIN could be their magnum opus in my opinion. Keep going men. Truly incredible work.
I love kin, it definitely has a few songs that hit the feels but the valley is still my favorite from them
@@holtdcw both are marvelous
@@igorlinslemos Yeah, I love both
Fuck no. This is garbage
My favorite too since 2015 and still rockin 🤘 🇺🇸
Introductions are everything and this one is badass! The song is so-well written!!
I got started on hickory creek, after playing that on repeat till I could sing it in my sleep i listened to the rest of the album and fell in love with doom woods. the Kin came out and im just blown away by Anticure, this song says it all. Phil can do anything, from the heavy deathcore voice to the very oddly calming regular singing, and the way he mixes it all together is like nothing I ever heard. Plan to eventually get a Whitechapel themed tattoo, thank you Whitechapel for being so amazing!!!!!!!
Hey man! Any fan of Whitechapel is welcomed! Im glad you got started with The Valley, I started with their first and have been a fan since. When I heard Hickory Creek I literally teared up because I share the same theme of that song: Loss of your mother. Then he released the Acoustic version and I literally ONLY play that one! Then Kin came out and he has more of his singing in it... it's making me feel like I did when I first heard them! I'm so excited for more projects like this.
I have a similar story
Listen to the saw is the law ; D
hearing him transform from when whitechapel started, to this, i love it all. cheers!
The somatic defilement was my first albulm fucking brutal
This song made me strong and cry at the same time. Long live whitechapel. Music unite us ❤❤
This song truly shows the depth and layering of a third guitarist. The mix is also next-level. If you take anything from this album, it’s how ear pleasing it is. I’ve run it front to back 80 times and it never gets old, such a refreshing journey from the Whitechapel sound I love most. It’s not my favorite, but it’s up there in its own way. The distaste that it got from so many fans was disappointing.
this album is a masterpiece.....i lost my parents earely and struggled with it. this album helped a LOT
@@richardyackee5685 Truly sorry to hear, yes this album is pure catharsis man.
100000%. It really showcases it, especially for those that don’t have an ear for that kind of thing, and don’t quite appreciate what it does for the heaviest stuff. 3 guitars is one of the things that elevates them, let alone Phil’s range.
This song is such a wildfire. I love everything about it. The instruments. The vocals. Pure bliss!
Agreed. Such beautiful musicianship.
I love Whitechapel's heavier music but this is a masterpiece and I'd love a whole album with this music.
I've listened to this song more times than I can count. Phil's clean vocals are on another level and add so much emotion to this song. Sad to see Alex leave the band. His drumming is top notch and a great fit.
Still one of my all time favorites of Whitechappel!
The best clean vocalist in this genre
When Whitechapel first came up in 2007 I was blown away by Phils growls. Those were ones of the most deep death metal vocals I have heard back in the day.
Now Mr Bozeman started to incorporate clean vocals into the music and the effect is the same. Never though he would manage both worlds that well. Chapeu!
They're deathcore, or was ,now they're pop rock,And Phil isn't even. In the top 50 vocalists,he's average, good but average
@@michaelschaaf3619 oh shit... Sorry ... Those are death-core growls. 😅 My apologies the elitist one
@@cravingmetal get tour genres right ,junior, you sound like a dip sh*t

This song hits on a whole different level. Wow.
My favorite song on the album. I listen to it every day
It’s been such a wild ride being the same age as Phil. I’ve been following him since the beginning. I’ve aged along with these albums, each album being so relevant in my life at the time. Lost my dad, almost died from addiction, beat my demons, but I’m still angry. It’s been beautiful, listening to the music mature, while I mature in my own life. One love Phil

See you there at the Masquerade, my friend

If there ever was a band that got better with every album perfecting their core craft it's Whitechapel. This song gives me chills.
this is very much not the core of Whitechapel, that doesn't make it bad, i actually very much like this album, it's just not the Whitechapel that was originally formed. i think musicians are allowed and should be encouraged to deviate. this is exile will always exist and can be repeated infinitely if one so chooses.
While they make great music now, I wouldn't call it their "core". Did you even listen to The Somatic Defilement?
Samesies bro, chills all over
Lmfao no it's not this is nothing like what they used to be and this comment just shows that you probably weren't much of a fan if at all
This comment make me throw up in my mouth a little...
This is beautiful.
They don't need to be deathcore, they are awesome at what they are.
Phil singing clean was a bold but wise & rewarding decision.
Kin coupled with the Valley has made me a huge Whitechapel fan! Two absolutely stellar albums with a great, emotional story.
The best Whitechapel song ive ever heard!
I agree. Can't get enough.
this is real amy lee evanescence band types acoustic
It’s extremely underrated
Big agree, favorite Whitechapel song by far
damn, didn't know Dean Winchester can growl. I knew he can sing, but damn can he growl.
Hands down one of my favourite album's of all time.
I needed this in my life!
Man this song sounds calm but deep and strong
I like how when they released their first clean vocals song (I think it was the one about his mother), Phil went out and said he didn’t want to make music like that if the fans disliked it. Then they waited to see a reaction, and after seeing how well received it was, the band pumped out a ton of killer tracks.
Band is pure molten fire, and some of the best harsh/clean vocals of any lead singer alive. One of those very rare bands where every GAH-damn thing they record, I just love.
This has become one of my favorite songs. I can't stop listening to it. This why it's so important to have an open mind for music you never know what you will like until you give music a chance and listen to it.
So true.
Not sure how many times I've commented on this song now but here's another cheers
I will find you, lost boy, blood soaked symphony, one’s that made us, and to the wolves are my favorite songs!
I remember last listening to them in high school like 15 years ago, in the age of This is Exile, and just started listening to them again and WOW. They have changed, but it's completely awesome, they've matured so much and I'm all for it.
They should have won a Grammy for this song
Album wasn't given the MASSIVE amount of recognition it should have been... Best work of 2021 guys🖤
God damn this song is powerful... "What do you see that I don't see" a question I've always asked anyone who would have me on their life struggling with almost crippling depression this song has genuinely helped me through some hard days. This entire album is an absolute masterpiece from start to end. Thank you for blessing our ears and hearts since The Somatic Defilement boys ❤
Man I just keep on coming back to this album, certainly this track. I can honestly say that Kin is in my top 10 metal records! 🔥🤘🏻
One of the GOAT singer's from the genre
Flushed right down the shitter.
It is undeniable that Phil, Randy and Winston are by far the best leads.
i love whitechaple what a band
Am I the only one who thinks this whole amazing record is super underrated?
Their best song!
Discovered this band about 3 weeks ago. They're a modern day Pantera in quality. Whitechapel is my new favorite obsession. Amazing!
This is the best they have done...period....
I cant stop listening to this, it just feels the right way
I'm so happy the comments aren't filled with snobby death metal dudes hating on this! I will note the major tool vibes though! Digging it!!
I listen to Kin everyday. One of my favourites of Whitechapel and Anticure is probably my favourite song on the album.
Same. This album goes in my top 5 favourite albums of all time. It's a special one.
It sounds so good it's their best yet I think
This whole album is too good. New Era was my favorite until these last two. Adding on, I can barely listen to Bring Me Home without feeling deep motion.
Still love this song the intro is so catchy and basic it had to have come straight from the devil
Punk Rock MBA brought me here and I love it guys. Been listening to you guys for 11 years. Love from Namibia!
Been listening to these guys since 2007, they have come a long way. This album is amazing and was one of my favorites from 2021. Phil’s vocals and lyrics are so good. A lot of people are disappointed with them doing more clean vocals than they use to. But his clean vocals are so good. Not every band that started out deathcore has to stay the same. It would get really boring after a while if ya heard the same album every couple of years. Bands gotta progress.
And maybe he's into those bands but its deffinitely just not my flavor
Ya know I don't really care that he's doing cleans they just remind me of breaking Benjamin and five flavor fruit punch and for me that is the disappointing part just sounds like generic radio rock from being one of the absolute heaviest and I understand wanting to change
Yeah the radio friendly crap doesn't fly, nothing wrong with changing, but damn this is weak
Agreed. It has insightful depth, some people are incapable of feeling /experiencing. The toxicity is showing in the ones not being open to this degree of artistry
@@123cillitbang Why is it considered toxic to not like something? Good lord get over yourself lol.
Best band of ALL TIME!!! ❤❤
Whitechapel gave deathcore a new definition! Hail Whitechapel \,,/
This is a masterpiece
Don't wanna give all the credit to Phils Vocals and savages lead and solo work but they play such a huge part in this new sound of Whitechapel. The maturity this band has gone through is outstanding, truly outgrown the genre.
I Just lost my Grand Mother Yesterday and This song describe how I've been feeling , Whitechapel know how to paint emotion... Thank You Whitechapel for all the good music !
I like how Rudi is still in the music video 😂
For real though, Rudi is a BEAST on drums!! Hands down the best drummer Whitechapel has ever had, even if it was never official.
@@Frodothelast looks like he never fits in anywhere as a permanent which is a shame. definetly one of the best drummers we have.
I think it should be called GRUNGECORE!!! 10/10 🤘🤘🤘
I was never a big Whitechapel fan (I liked just a few of their songs) until I heard Kin, from beginning to end, just a couple of days ago. The entire album blew me the fuck away. I have now gone back through their catalog and found quite a lot of songs that I really like. I now agree with the people that said they thought this was their album of the year last year (along with Eternal Blue.) It is a real masterpiece.
Since Kin came out, I’ve had the album on repeat. I really always go back to it even if I’m trying on newer albums of different bands. It’s become my favourite album of all.
Gosh, this band is just absolutely fantastic, I can't.
such a great song. totally addicted to it.
looking forward for the gig in vienna in august.
You've taken a great direction on this album. A big step forward.
About Time.
One of the most beautiful works of art in metal today! The deepest lyrics with a sound design that leaves you thinking about the importance of life and its true value.
I am definitely liking the new style. His voice is so good to listen to. Even the slower songs. It's a peace that's soothing
another killer album going down in the books of metal history
I only got into Whitechapel last year with their amazing album. This song together with Orphan, History is Silent, Bloadsoaked Simphony and Kin are my absolute favourites🤘🤘🤘🤘
Yeah! 👍🤘
Orphan was gold I didn't think they could top that bit I was wrong
This is absolute shit. But I bet you like five finger death punch so I'm not surprised 🤣🤣🤣
@@JustinVenture- who the fuck would admit that garbage
@@JustinVenture- older five finger death punch befor darrell left was good Jason hook basically fucked the band
Why does this song hit me right in the feels? The first time I heard it, it brought tears to my eyes
I seen whitechapel in Albuquerque, nm and they killed the show. Even better than the main act which was trivium
I saw them in Orlando, I enjoyed all 4 bands a lot honestly. I'd already been a fan of trivium and between the buried and me, but man, khemmis and Whitechapel were pleasant surprises. I'd always known who Whitechapel was, but never really checked them out because it never seemed like my thing. That show made a new fan out of me though
Never really listened much to Whitechapel until Kin. Its absolutely amazing.
The valley is similar writing style. Also deadly
Never heard of them before but omg 😍❤😵
Now go to The Somatic Defilement Album 🤘
Time to binge!
Ben’s white PRS. Coolest guitar I’ve seen in a long time!
You guys never cease to amaze
You never cease to amaze Boss
"I refuse control from a delusional sadist." I LOVE that line. That's where I've been for over 2 years.
It's just absolutely filled with emotions and so unendingly beautiful. So raw. You've outdone yourselves again Whitechapel! Legends.
Love this and the album. And the drummer looking like jon moxley 🪘
This band sounds outstanding in each and every song they release.
No band has grown as much as these dudes. They went from a band i didnt think was much different from any other deathcore band to now having two albums forever in my playlist. They have separated them selves above their genre like many good metal bands.
they basically created deathcore too, talented band
Whitechapel never disappoint or let down there loyal fans producing hit after hit album after album my favorite album of all time is this is exile most brutal and sick album from whitechapel
Even Mark of the Blade was good to you?
Welcome home Whitechapel I have missed you. Phil should remind people more why he is a contender for GOAT
We just love when the best song on the LP gets a video don’t we folks.
This song is awesome
I love how diverse Whitechapel has become. It’s like they become a completely different band for a few songs. Absolutely love that. Kin was a masterpiece, and this is a top 3 song on the album for me.
im ok with never opening my eyes as long as my ears are open to hear this
goosebumbs from head acros back to legs and on arms. I never had this before. I love this song. played it on repeat for the last few weeks. cant get enough
one of the few bands that can pull off this kind of transformation. Holy fuck man
I will never pass on an opportunity to listen to this. Quickly becoming one of my favorite Whitechapel songs
The best song of this album
This song gives me chills
These guys may just be my new favorite metal band
did that change within the month?
@@lunarlight3131 Not yet
haven't listened to these cats in quite some time. this is a huge transition from their old stuff, but fuck, the timing of finding this couldn't have been better. thank you whitechapel.
When Dean Winchester isn’t slaying demons he sings killer vocals for a metal band. Who woulda thunk?
Can’t get over how fantastic this song is.
Phil´s Cleans Vocals Are most the gentle and soft thing that could reach your ears
I love the way this band has matured and evolved.
New favorite song, absolutely crushed it
I feel so guilty that I gave up on this band while they are one of my all time favorites and just listening to this song now. This level is really really heartwarming and so close to Progressive metal, specifically OLD OPETH level. I'm so amazed by Phil as always.
