Usually, when a band changes their sound so drastically, it sparks a lot of dislike in the community since they want the "old band" back. But damn, Whitechapel owning everything from The Somatic Defilement to Kin. Chapeau guys, Chapeau!
I mean they're still getting the typical "if it's not brutal 24/7 then it sucks" type of comments. Especially on their Facebook page, but I agree! Idk how people can hear how Phil has evolved as a vocalist or how the band has evolved and just dismiss the entire album as "butt rock" or some dumb shit. Their guitarist made a great point in an interview I saw regarding the evolution of their sound. "In Deathcore it's damned if you do, damned if you don't." I think The Valley might be my favorite metal album of all time honestly, but I think Kin is a masterpiece. People pretending they're aren't "metal enough" anymore need to stop gatekeeping this shit. That kind of attitude is exactly why metal's popularity has been really frozen for a while.
@@gghhyo5799 it's not that it's not heavy or brutal. It's that it's 100% identical to early 2000s nu/alt metal, some parts sound exactly like Breaking Benjamin. There's 0 originality in this this.

No autotune, no BS lyrics, just emotion. Whitechapel still one of my tops and will always be in the game! I like A LOT of heavy bands but let me tell you, their music just hits so damn hard.
This was my number 1 song on my Spotify. Honestly this album helped me through my grandmother’s passing. The emotions were overwhelming and this album really helped me heal.
I got started on hickory creek, after playing that on repeat till I could sing it in my sleep i listened to the rest of the album and fell in love with doom woods. the Kin came out and im just blown away by Anticure, this song says it all. Plan to eventually get a Whitechapel themed tattoo, thank you Whitechapel for being so amazing!!!!!!!
Hey man! Any fan of Whitechapel is welcomed! Im glad you got started with The Valley, I started with their first and have been a fan since. When I heard Hickory Creek I literally teared up because I share the same theme of that song: Loss of your mother. Then he released the Acoustic version and I literally ONLY play that one! Then Kin came out and he has more of his singing in it... it's making me feel like I did when I first heard them! I'm so excited for more projects like this.
When Whitechapel first came up in 2007 I was blown away by Phils growls. Those were ones of the most deep death metal vocals I have heard back in the day. Now Mr Bozeman started to incorporate clean vocals into the music and the effect is the same. Never though he would manage both worlds that well. Chapeu!

This song truly shows the depth and layering of a third guitarist. The mix is also next-level. If you take anything from this album, it’s how ear pleasing it is. I’ve run it front to back 80 times and it never gets old, such a refreshing journey from the Whitechapel sound I love most. It’s not my favorite, but it’s up there in its own way. The distaste that it got from so many fans was disappointing.
100000%. It really showcases it, especially for those that don’t have an ear for that kind of thing, and don’t quite appreciate what it does for the heaviest stuff. 3 guitars is one of the things that elevates them, let alone Phil’s range.

This has become one of my favorite songs. I can't stop listening to it. This why it's so important to have an open mind for music you never know what you will like until you give music a chance and listen to it.
I remember last listening to them in high school like 15 years ago, in the age of This is Exile, and just started listening to them again and WOW. They have changed, but it's completely awesome, they've matured so much and I'm all for it.
Band is pure molten fire, and some of the best harsh/clean vocals of any lead singer alive. One of those very rare bands where every GAH-damn thing they record, I just love.
I like how when they released their first clean vocals song (I think it was the one about his mother), Phil went out and said he didn’t want to make music like that if the fans disliked it. Then they waited to see a reaction, and after seeing how well received it was, the band pumped out a ton of killer tracks.
Been listening to these guys since 2007, they have come a long way. This album is amazing and was one of my favorites from 2021. Phil’s vocals and lyrics are so good. A lot of people are disappointed with them doing more clean vocals than they use to. But his clean vocals are so good. Not every band that started out deathcore has to stay the same. It would get really boring after a while if ya heard the same album every couple of years. Bands gotta progress.
Ya know I don't really care that he's doing cleans they just remind me of breaking Benjamin and five flavor fruit punch and for me that is the disappointing part just sounds like generic radio rock from being one of the absolute heaviest and I understand wanting to change

This whole album is too good. New Era was my favorite until these last two. Adding on, I can barely listen to Bring Me Home without feeling deep motion.
I was never a big Whitechapel fan (I liked just a few of their songs) until I heard Kin, from beginning to end, just a couple of days ago. The entire album blew me the fuck away. I have now gone back through their catalog and found quite a lot of songs that I really like. I now agree with the people that said they thought this was their album of the year last year (along with Eternal Blue.) It is a real masterpiece.
This album is a masterpiece from start to finish. This is the song I hear the most and now, I got the lyrics, I sing along with the music everytime I listen to it. One of the most beautiful works of art in metal today! The deepest lyrics with a sound design that leaves you thinking about the importance of life and its true value.
The layered guitarwork is Godlike. I’m not sure if they draw influence from them, but I really hear elements of Opeth and even Deftones in this masterpiece of an album. Amazing video too, you really feel what Phil’s conveying and the artistry is exquisite.
I like how Rudi is still in the music video 😂 For real though, Rudi is a BEAST on drums!! Hands down the best drummer Whitechapel has ever had, even if it was never official.
The best freaking heavy metal out there. Phil sings like an angel and screams like a demon. Band mates are slaying in the instruments. What else do you need?
This album was the last AOTY for my dear friend, thanks to him, now I think Whitechapel is one of the best metal bands out there nowadays. Thanks for everything, Clayto. R.I.P. brother!
I saw them in Orlando, I enjoyed all 4 bands a lot honestly. I'd already been a fan of trivium and between the buried and me, but man, khemmis and Whitechapel were pleasant surprises. I'd always known who Whitechapel was, but never really checked them out because it never seemed like my thing. That show made a new fan out of me though
I really hope you guys read this. I saw Whitechapel at Springbrook Auditorium. Back when Phil used to slaughter Alone In The Morgue. I remember the day I stood in line at Hastings to get "This Is Exile", next to the Hobby Lobby and what USED TO BE the movie theater before they shoved it in the mall. I remember the first line up change.. man. Look. I was there. I seen you guys grow, watched you adapt with the times.. Fuck. I never knew you guys personally, Phil graduated the year I got to high school. I went to Heritage. I know.. I know. I paid attention in most classes though. I'm doing ok. Surviving. BUT. I just wanted to say thank you. You've gotten me through some of the toughest times in my life. My tour in Afghanistan, my taste of toxic relationships, the birth of my son. Named him after Maynard. Sorry... BUT You were there. I mean not you personally, but like your music. Your message. So thank you. From someone back home, or at least what's left of it. I remember it all. Alright. I'm tearing up. I'm gonna go back to duct taping my Civic back together and making sure the dogs fed. For real though. Thank you guys. You're the fucking shit. Please play Alone In The Morgue at your next show. Catch them off guard LOL
I love how diverse Whitechapel has become. It’s like they become a completely different band for a few songs. Absolutely love that. Kin was a masterpiece, and this is a top 3 song on the album for me.

Welcome home Whitechapel I have missed you. Phil should remind people more why he is a contender for GOAT
Phil is not a contender. He is the GOAT.
They can even make beautiful ballads. Man I love whitechapel. I, Dementia will forever be my favorite workout song, NO song has ever gotten me more pumped while I'm working out.
Am I the only one who thinks this whole amazing record is super underrated?
A quite magnificent piece of work - dare I say a metal classic? Phil’s vocal versatility laid bare.
My god, following this band from 07 to today, man, just how awesome this journey has been.
Why does this song hit me right in the feels? The first time I heard it, it brought tears to my eyes
This song made me strong and cry at the same time. Long live whitechapel. Music unite us ❤❤
This song gives me chills
Hey ! This is Joey, I was your driver for the 2009 Mayhem Festival! You guys just get better and better! Keep it up!!
You've taken a great direction on this album. A big step forward.
About Time.
Man I just keep on coming back to this album, certainly this track. I can honestly say that Kin is in my top 10 metal records! 🔥🤘🏻
We just love when the best song on the LP gets a video don’t we folks.
I love the conversation between the growls and the cleans. Thanks Phil for letting us hear your story ♥️
This is an AMAZING song. I've now listened to it 10 times in a row...I love old Whitechapel, but man the new direction y'all are taking is KILLER. Keep it up! Shout-out from Greenvegas, NC
One of the most beautiful works of art in metal today! The deepest lyrics with a sound design that leaves you thinking about the importance of life and its true value.
I cant stop listening to this, it just feels the right way
The layered guitarwork is Godlike. I’m not sure if they draw influence from them, but I really hear elements of Opeth and even Deftones in this masterpiece of an album. Amazing video too, you really feel what Phil’s conveying and the artistry is exquisite.
I like how Rudi is still in the music video 😂
For real though, Rudi is a BEAST on drums!! Hands down the best drummer Whitechapel has ever had, even if it was never official.
@@Frodothelast looks like he never fits in anywhere as a permanent which is a shame. definetly one of the best drummers we have.
The best freaking heavy metal out there. Phil sings like an angel and screams like a demon. Band mates are slaying in the instruments. What else do you need?
I will find you, lost boy, blood soaked symphony, one’s that made us, and to the wolves are my favorite songs!
This album was the last AOTY for my dear friend, thanks to him, now I think Whitechapel is one of the best metal bands out there nowadays. Thanks for everything, Clayto. R.I.P. brother!
I am sorry about your loss🙏
I seen whitechapel in Albuquerque, nm and they killed the show. Even better than the main act which was trivium
That show made a new fan out of me though
this album hits on so many levels. thank you for this work of art.
I will never pass on an opportunity to listen to this. Quickly becoming one of my favorite Whitechapel songs
I've been singing along to this entire album at work since it came out. Absolute banger
I don't think anyone expected such epic dynamics after you guys exploded onto the scene in 06-07. This is fucking amazing.
Holy shit, this is so beautiful...
Guys from Whitechapel sure are bringing some really good songs over and over.
They should have won a Grammy for this song
This is peak Whitechapel. This is 2022's masterpiece
Whitechapel gave deathcore a new definition! Hail Whitechapel \,,/
Sorry...
BUT
You were there.
Last year you guys straight up surprised me. Havent listened to you guys in almost 10 years but this album was absolutely incredible.
Definitely wearing my headphones 2nd round. So diversity in one song and I love it.
I love how diverse Whitechapel has become. It’s like they become a completely different band for a few songs. Absolutely love that. Kin was a masterpiece, and this is a top 3 song on the album for me.
Such a sincere bit of heart.Every instrument breathes so fluently.
i love whitechaple what a band
This is my favorite song off the whole album, I'm so stoked they made a video for it.
Amazing song off an incredible album. Will be forever on my playlist .
Cringe.
This is absolute shit compared to their old albums...
@@JustinVenture- if you prefer constant screaming then by all means...
This song has been with me for months now ! It is just majestic in how it sails over mind landscapes and spiritual paths ! Im in awe still !
