Speke Boulevard Cycleway | Liverpool - Speke to Garston

Speke Boulevard is a main road running through South Liverpool. Between Speke and Garston a cycleway provides a safe route for cyclists. The quality of the route is variable. Most junctions are multi-stage toucan crossings or give no priority for cycles, on a Sunday morning the roads are quiet and most junctions can be negotiated without stopping.
The infrastructure must be about 15 years old and it shows, it is of its time. At junctions with minor roads and businesses cyclists are instructed to give way. Crossing the entry and exit of a large roundabout is also difficult and when traffic heavy, dangerous.
This route has a lot of potentional for improvement. Resurfacing, cutting back vegetation and improving junctions would make this a high quality route for cycling. The Liverpool council pop-up cycleway route 7 should include this section of cycleway so maybe some improvements will be made.
