Cycling from Moreton to Wallasey Grove Road Merseyrail stations takes only 25 minutes, almost entirely on quiet roads and cycle paths. The train takes 22 minutes, including changing trains. This route uses the new(ish) protected cycle lanes on Fender Lane, introduced in March 2022 to provide a safe route for walking and cycling between Moreton and Bidston. Lime Street Rebuild Complete | New Cycleway in Liverpool
Просмотров 1,5 тыс.2 года назад
The rebuild of Lime Street in Liverpool city centre is finally complete, the upgrade was severly delayed by the contractor going bankrupt last year. Lime Street itself has been severed for cars, with the large junction outside the station replaced by public space, a cycle path and a bus link. The road has been narrowed to two lanes in most places and the area is much quieter than before. The cy...
Kingsley Road New Protected Cycle Lanes | Liverpool
Просмотров 4113 года назад
In the last few months, protected cycle lanes have been built on Kingsley Road in Liverpool. The road forms an important link for students heading to University, and anyone on the way to Princes Park and Sefton Park from the north. The road has been reduced to one-way for cars, with floating car parking spaces to reduce the amount of parking in cycle lanes and on pavements. The cycle lane is pr...

The Strand New Cycle Path - Major Liverpool Road Rebuild
Просмотров 7 тыс.3 года назад
Phase one of The Strand rebuild has just been finished in October 2021. The multi-million pound scheme has removed motor traffic lanes from a major route through Liverpool city centre. Junctions have been removed and new public space has been created. A new cycle path has also opened, forming a vital link for cycling between north and south of the city. New trees have also been planted and the ...
How to Cycle from Crosby Beach to Maghull | Liverpool Bike Ride

You can cycle from the beach at Crosby all the way to Maghull on cycle paths and quiet roads. It only takes about 35 mins and passes through the scenic Rimrose valley park. I hope you find this video useful. I can't recommend the very last section of the video into Maghull, Liverpool Road North is a busy road, however I don't know another way! Dock/Regent Road Cycleway - Liverpool - Bike Ride

Cycling on a Brand New Bike Path from Kirkby to Maghull North Station

A cycle path opened in early 2021 from Kirkby towards Maghull in northeast Merseyside. The path is generally wide and smooth and of good quality. This is really game changing as these roads would have been a big barrier to most people cycling before. However disappointingly the nice path ends before reaching Maghull itself, throwing you back onto a busy road. A few hundred metres more path woul...

    Great film fella. I liked the loop line one as well. Very informative as I may have to work at Broadgreen soon. So thanks for that👍🏻👍🏻. If I may be so bold on the Crosby one, I think you can almost go NNE from the lifeboat station and come over by mine (NC62). Via little Crosby, Ince Blundelll, left before you get to Sefton village, over the bridge around the recycling centre onto NC62. Sefton drive. My flat is at the front 👏🏻👏🏻. Pop in for a cup of tea 👍🏻

    i used to cycle down Leeds street daily (before the cycle lane). Use to be able to get some pretty good speeds going down there but from the end of November traffic was a bit of a nightmare and if you didnt move over to the right side lane after vauxhall road lights then the traffic would force you to stay on the left and you'd be unable to continue on to the dock road,

    That bike lane on Great Georges is now complete. But they did it in black tarmac with very little visual differentiation to the road surface so it catches people out and you often see cars swinging onto it before realising the layout's changed. If they'd done it in a different colour tarmac, it would've been far safer & usable!

Boulevardise our dysfunctional, communities separating, anti pedestrian, polluting, ugly urban motorways of the 60s Limit to 4 lanes the Max capacity. Plant trees. Provide for cycleways. Scotland RD. Leeds RD. Etc are a disgrace..And start regenerating each and every local High St along these lines. There is plenty of money around. THX

  • @peterrobinson9402

    There is an issue of the cycle lane not getting swept so all the glass and rubbish ends up in the path. It’s not bad for cars parking on the path, only happened once or twice to me. It is a useful link for the university.

  • @peterrobinson9402
    @peterrobinson9402 2 года назад

    As it is these paths don’t go anywhere and they are dangerous. They encourage cyclist to go fast and pedestrians will just walk out in front of them. Some painted cycle lanes might help if they can’t afford to link up the expensive bits that tourists will see. I’d rather a complete network of painted lanes than a few short but nice sections

    • @James-bp7uc
      @James-bp7uc 2 года назад

      These aren't dangerous??? They clearly stop cars from going into cyclist areas and are distinct from pedestrian footpaths. It is an excellent start to implementing better cycle infrastructure Paint does nothing to protect cyclists and is useless

    • @peterrobinson9402
      @peterrobinson9402 2 года назад

      @@James-bp7uc I hope you’re right and pedestrians learn how to cross them safely and not walk on them. As it is now lots of people are walking in front of cyclists and I assume it’s worse at night when the bars are busy.

    The cycle lanes on Vauxhall Road are a disgrace. Bicycles having to give way to traffic from side roads at every single junction, the pavement for pedestrians being in between the cycle lane and the road. Sums up everything that's wrong with urban cycle planning. Hopefully the new fully segregated cycle lane on the dock road is a sign of things to come

    whence GB's penchant for brick walls?

    • @peterdunlop7691
      @peterdunlop7691 2 года назад

      The large brick walls on the left when heading north were largely built with the help of captured French soldiers during the Napoleonic War, over 200 years ago. The docks would be behind them and the walls were built to prevent the general public from stealing from the warehouses and ships, and also to reduce smuggling and evasion of import/export taxes. There are other parts made with heavy stones with mini towers, giving the impression that they're castle walls.

    The cycle route here is absaloutly pointless. On the return part you would have highlighted it best by turning left and finding 5 m of cycle path leading into the back of a parked car. It's nice that they have done something and it's actually a divided pedestrian and cycle path. But they are missing many, many miles more to make a safe and effective one in Newcastle. Great video of it though. You drive right past my house and also the fantastic Block and Bottle butchers 😍 cheers..

  • @Arjay404

    That's pretty nice, apart from the obvious faults like the large gap and the rough condition of parts of it and much of it being very isolated it's really nice. Though I do have to dock it points for some bits, for example why are some of the stop lines so far away from the intersection, that one intersection the stop line is more than a full car length away from the intersection. The other thing I would dock points for it is the pointless pedestrian crossing lights, bikes don't drive that fast and they aren't constant, you could just have the crossing and have the law be that cyclist have to yield for crossing pedestrians, there is no need for lights, it's just wasteful, the people that wouldn't stop for pedestrians are just going to ignore the light and those that will stop for pedestrians don't need the light.
