Oh gosh a 100% linen shirt and he's only going to wear it to walk the dog!! Unless he's in banking that's a totally awesome shirt for work. love all the pieces.
Oh, bless your hubby...what a great sport he is and he looked fab in his linen shirt and trousers 👌😁. Absolutely adore your orange Meliot shirt and it's a shirt I've always admired every time I've seen it made up... I must get that pattern 👍💝. Lovely to see you Alex 😊😘
Alex that was awesome Lovely linen and well made He was a very good sport I agree with you that the shirt is to over sized so I always feel then instead of looking smart casual it starts to look sloppy Thank you for getting Dave to show how the patterns fit a real person and not just showing us garments on a hanger It is very nice color combination with the khaki and navy royal blue You are a beautiful seamstress The color of your top is so summery love it on you Lovely job I have used your burrito tutorial for making a blouse It was magical went very very well Excellent tutorial Always looking forward to seeing what you have been sewing never disappointed gives me excellent ideas and inspiration You and Dave take care it's easy to see that you are such a happily married couple Wonderful to see you having a giggle over his modeling debut lol Thank you God bless you P.S I have just bought some linen and linen blends hopefully I do as well as you have in your sewing
ooh Joanne, I don't know what happened, but I've only just seen your lovely kind comment! I'm so pleased the burrito tutorial helped, you won't go back now 😀. Good old Dave was a good sport wasn't he, can't see him being a regular feature unless I bribe him with better fitting shirts 😂😘
It's lovely to see you back! Please tell Dave that we appreciate him being a good sport. He's a handsome devil and looked very chic in the linen ensemble.
Your hubbies is a good sport, you are both quite the comedy act. All the makes are great. I love linen. When I put on my freshly pressed linen shirt I want to take a picture of it to show everyone I started my day wrinkle free. The orange and blue looks so pretty on you. I'm going to check out all of those patterns. Thanks so much.
Thanks Jennett, poor man getting dragged in 😂 I know what you mean, but when I see other people in wrinkled linen I feel it looks good, I must try to stop caring 😂😘❤️
Great to see you back! You and Dave cracked me up - he almost seemed to enjoy it in the end....act nonchalant, cool 😎✌🏼😂 Love your makes and thanks for sharing x
Oh my goodness, I loved seeing you back and Dave's first appearance. That's true love coming on to model the new makes. What a sweetie! I'm keen to give the chiara pants a crack. Thanks for the inspo as always.
My husband is a new convert to linen, I think I might also make those trousers for him. Dave has a good point about the drawstring, I think my husband would feel the same. That orange shirt of yours is very lovely.
I love your shirt… those buttons will be amazing! I’m glad you said your pants were indigo because I was reading purple. Beautiful job! I have not tried pants because I’m having a hard time just with PJ pants. They always seem too big! I love that your husband was willing to model his makes! Loved his shirt. As you went through the various changes you would make, that’s helpful to hear. I keep missing things; don’t seem to catch everything I should do maybe if I look at it in pieces of the garment. Thank you! Cheryl
They definitely are indigo, but it’s one of those colours that changes depending on the light 🤷🏼♀️. Keep trying with pants, they’re the trickiest thing in my opinion, but also the most satisfying 😂❤️❤️❤️
Loved this vlog Alex! You are your husband we’re brilliant, I did have a giggle! Love all the makes. It was lovely to see the Indigo Irish linen sewn up. Thank you for your kind comments about the shop too 🥰
Always lovely to see you and your makes. Your Shirt and trousers look fabulous. Your model was very obliging and those makes looked fabulous - it was great to see your tweaking process in action. Really liked the Cornell shirt
Wonderful to see you back. Thanks for doing up mens fashions and convincing hubby to model. I want to sew for my adult son which means choosing patterns I can sew from afar. Elastic waist pants and oversize shirt but not sports clothes are excellent options. Linen and slubby cotton are playing a huge role in my summer sewing this year. I hope they remain staples for years to come as I find them so easy to work with.
Thanks Nancy, yes sewing with linen has been a joy especially when you just want a well behaved project. I wish I could get my son to ‘model’, but it’s highly unlikely and he and I do have quite the same taste 😂❤️❤️
@@AlexJudgeSews my husband said "if he is going to show his bum to thousands of women he should wiggle it and go for the money shot" 🤣. Just passing it on lol. I would never put my husband in a Vlog, Dave was as so well behaved by comparison.
Luv the orange blouse. Your hubby is very photogenic, yes going down two sizes would do it. Linen stretches alot. I think a draw string would pull the waist band together for a better fit.
First vlog of yours I’ve seen Alex, you and your hubby are such a double act, love all the linen and I might have to check out the Fremantle trousers now
Hey, Alex! BEST. VIDEO. EVER. 🤣😂🤣 What a 🍑 of a tusch! Seriously - you both look great in fabulous makes and your indigo/orange combo is sensational! 💜
What a fun video. Great makes (love that bright blouse) and you should tell Dave that he has a very nice bottom :D He's a good sport and it looks like y'all had fun making it.
Lovely makes, I have some linen in my stash but I've yet to try it (only done blends so far!). And Dave did well on camera, seeing the clothes on is helpful but it was also entertaining with the button etc though I know that wasn't the idea! :)
Hey Alex, nice to have you back. I’m interested to know how you French seam when you have in seam pockets? Could you show us a bit of a close up on that? Or if making another pair for yourself would you show us that part?
Love this video love your makes love Dave great modelling. Have just made the tropical shirt by Wardrobe by me for my husband he is a similar size and shape as your Dave, I had to make an adjustment to the tummy but I love that pattern.
Ahh thanks Susan, I think I have that one somewhere, in the past I’ve made a tummy adjustment which worked really well, but suspected (rightly) it wasn’t needed for this pattern.
What a double act! You really made me laugh. I order from Tessuti sometimes and love their service and quality. I’ve never tried their patterns but I will do one day. I love the orange colour on you.
Hi Alex, great video and loved the cameo! I had a delivery from Clothspot last week and they included a sample of a new linen, so you've got my mightily tempted by the Ciara trousers! We are a similar shape, and you said the fit was good... I'm curious whether you graded between sizes at the hips and waist, or went for the straight size? My waist is showing as exactly one size larger than my hips, so with my flat bottom I think it might be worth grading, but if you didn't, maybe it's not a good idea, as I don't want them uncomfortably tight for sitting. Anyway, glad your jury service is finished so you've got more time to sew and share! But thanks for keeping the wheels of justice turning.
I went for the straight size, but did have the benefit of having made them before. I often have to add some to the waist to allow for post menopausal thickened waist and tummy 🙄 but haven’t needed to this time. Linen is quite forgiving too, so that may help 🥰
Hi Alex 😘 great to see you back. Thanks so much for sharing your fabulous linen makes, expertly sewed and modeled 😉 Your eyebrows look amazing 👌 @aloadofbobbins
Great vlog Alex - I’ve missed you! Lovely to see Dave modelling need to get Carl to do the same. Loved his clothes and I agree shirt a bit big on him so you definitely could size down. Been looking for some summer trousers for Carl - Dave‘s are perfect. Love your trousers too. I think pockets would spoil the line and I think you’d have to put the zip in the back - just a thought. Also tempted to buy fabric from Tessutti too, only ever had their patterns. As for the Melliot shirt can you believe I’ve had the pattern for 4/5 years and still not made it????! Keep sewing. Keep up the good work. 🥰🥰🥰😘
Hello! I am planning to make the Cornell & Freemantle up in linen with french seams as well. Was it simple to turn the waistband to finish the seam? Any other construction notes related to doing these up with french seams? Thanks!
You've been missed greatly, always enjoy your videos!!! Am working on a pair of navy linen trousers as well, using Love Notions #glissando pattern. Have been assisted by Karina from Lifting Pins & needles😁
What colour and brand of nail polish are you wearing? I have the same colouring as you and i have a terrible time finding colours that are right with my skin tone.
I’d have a problem with linen trousers (and shirts for that matter) as I hate looking like like I’ve slept in my clothes after only 30 seconds of wear! 🤣
I was impressed that he understood "ease" of the shirt and French seams. I really like these clothes.
The poor man is outnumbered, his Mum sews too 😂❤
Hubby was such a good sport! I was laughing. Thanks.
Glad you enjoyed! 😘
David is a total Cutie, what a wonderful couple ! Makes me think about sewing for my hubby. Thank you
