I just made the Liesl+co Montauk trousers and miraculously they fit me right out of the packet. They have an option for welt back pockets and her instructions are out of this world! They came out soooo nice and they're only my second attempt at welt pockets.

I had great success with the Saguaro pants, which considering my age and size made me very happy. Made them in your washed linen viscose and even got compliments from strangers for them!

only been sewing since march 2023 and knew to it all but I am on my second pair of Margot pants by Tessuti fabrics and I love them. I have added pockets to my second pair just to smarten them up a bit.

For those who prefer Big 4 patterns my TNT for wide leg elastic waist pants is McCalls 7131. I’ve made 2 pairs. They look like a skirt. My other fave is vogue 8499 which are hilariously baggy but oh so comfy and also hide a lot of sins😊

I love all the options of elastic waist pants! Comfort wins for me! I love my SewHouse7 free range slacks. I think I have made them 6 times.
I have also made them in stretch wovens and ponte. I have tried the Paper Theory Miller trousers and I think they have potential. I think your suggestion of viscose and viscose blends will make them a winner. The Petra pants were nice but I like other patterns better. I loved the Palisades but I have sized out of the pattern. The Arden pants have minimal ease. You can tell the way Helen models them that she is comfortable with less ease. I would recommend the Arden pants for beginners though. Her instructions are great. I have made the Muna and Broad Birchgroves and they were a success. I feel like every time I try a new pants pattern, I always return to my Free Range Slacks pattern. There are just so many features I love about them: side panels do some kind of magic with the fit and appearance, deep pockets in a perfect location, roomy without feeling oversized, 2 options in the pattern, neat waistband finish, great instructions. Check finished measurements on the pattern to get a good fit.

I agree Janet, you've absolutely hit the nail on the head with everything here! The Free range always win for me too!

I have only made the wide leg version. The side panels with the super deep pockets are great. I think those side panels make them flattering and not all gathered waist baggy trousers look flattering. Sometimes they get too bunchy. I have made severals pairs and they looked best in a linen, flax, viscose blend, you need a not too floppy linen-viscose mix or they slap about your legs when you walk. The worst pair were made up in a cotton. They look a bit silly on me and I only wear those at home.

So many nice looking pants patterns there. I've definitely got a pair of pants on my radar to make in the near future. I've got TAL Almost Long or Tessuti Nina pants at the top of my list.

Hello Kristen. I am surprised that you didn't feature the Pattern Emporium "Pleats to Meet You" pants, I am going to be sewing two pairs of these from some double brush poly (from Lush Fabrics), I reckon these pants will be great for the cooler but still warm weather. Please keep the linen and viscose solid fabrics in your shop as these are so great to make pants from (and yes I will be ordering some of it...)

Hi Kristen, it last week or so I've made two elastic waisted pants for winter out of active fleece ,I've made the Nusle joggers from itch to stitch I found they are the best for me so far only stretch fabric only though I'm big all over so pants look better slimmer shape on me ..... but some of those pattern are very nice as well I wouldn't mind trying out as well in a tencel blend 😀

I want to sew more culottes and wide legged pants for this summer. It gets very hot here, but I like my legs covered. I'm glad you did this vlog! Thank you!

I have the Pietra pattern but haven’t sewn them yet. I’m really excited to make them in the wide leg version. I hope they aren’t too wide as I’m only 5 foot tall and I find the wide leg pants like the cullotte ones make my legs look really short.

Wore my Sew House 7's to death last year. Jessalie Homemade, I think that's her channel name has a fantastic sewalong on youtube. I didn't bother with the French seams as I did not want to wear them cuffed- just serged instead. Great pattern.

Great suggestions! I've been afraid of pants patterns, so I just did up a TNT pajama bottom pattern in a linen/viscose blend. Very basic and functional. Time to literally try some big girl pants 😂. Also, have you ever tried soaking your linen in any kind of solution to soften it? I've read this on the net recently. One person suggested Cola! Have you done it? Does it work?
