Kenyans let's not be too defensive. It's not a good look. As long as people are not being malicious, we have to let people have authentic opinions. That's how we know what to improve. We know we have improvements to make.
Unfortunately your hairstyle didn't help with the security and the police 😂😂 they fear Rasta.. thanks for the video and welcome back to Kenya .. karibuni sana

I won't disagree with you but this comment has nothing to do with us. We are literally sponges for culture, traditions and laws but where I live my life must be in alignment with all of those things. Make no mistake it isn't the laws, culture or traditions here that were difficult for us.
We've been staying in Bnbs and its 15 up and 15 down connected with a fibre connection. In the coffeehouses its the same. i don't know why I am sure it can go higher but 15 mbps seems to be the standard. I am sure if you own your own you can have much quicker speeds.
First off, sorry but the music in your video is gadamnawful...maybe I'm really old, but trying to get your narration was like walking around Muthurwa in downtown while talking to my boss on phone! (yes, nrb downtown is chaotic) i sadly had to read the subs 🙃🤔 Thank you for visiting us. We all appreciate that alot needs to be done to make improvements...as is the case for many developing cities. Yes, we are the friendliest people in the universe...you can add that lot's of the populace is well educated and world/street smart. Nairobi is vast, as it's diverse. I'm of the opinion that it is a city suited for everybody, anybody...i mean with money and investments, it is the best city to live in ...depends on how, where you want to live. Almost everybody wants to live the city life, but also has the option to relocate back upcountry to their family homes...which is even more impressive than our capital anyways -take some time and take the drives, will you? BTW a month is a fairly long period of time to visit, traverse a city. Where is part 2 of this video? surely this'snt all you guys got heh?
Thank you for your honesty about the prices. I loved Kenya but I found something’s even higher than USA. I am not only speaking of imported items (that’s to be expected) but other basic items which were made in the country. I think it’s a tourist thing. Overall I loved Kenya but I realized quickly I need local representation when buying goods or getting certain services
Nice video. I was planning on going there in October ‘24 but the demonstrations/rioting were taking place when I was planning the trip. Ended up going to Rwanda instead and had a great time. Hopefully I can get there later this year. Maybe you guys can meet up with Auston Holloman while you’re there. Looking forward to more adventures.
While here, most of the protests seem isolated to particular area(s) so as long as you are not there you might not even know it was happening. Still lots to explore outside of the CBD. Hope you make it back.
Yes! We did some videos about South Africa - it was visa free/90 days. Kenya requires an Electronic Travel Authorization, about $30/35 more or less/90 days.
It seems you were in a short stay, thanks though, Nairobi Kenya is among top cities in intenet cover, Nairobi is New York of Africa, you just get used to it, have you been to other African countries?‼️🙏🇰🇪👌❤
@TheYarbros you started high, up, you are going low down now, those to me are top black African countries to visit, just be open minded and do research thoroughly, services in the country you visited compared to the others will greatly vary,I'm widely travelled in the continent too,but the experience is worth it,watch other travellers too, enjoy Africa, karibu 🇰🇪🙏‼️
Are you telling them that they should accept our mediocre standards? Accept positive criticism. I am also a Kenyan who has travelled widely and I know the internet in Kenya is creepy
We are here for a few different reasons. We're researching the cradle of humankind for a video. Both of our DNA results showed that 15% & 17% of our biological makeup is from this area. Finally, we wanted to explore the motherland as a possible place to call our home. We are both from the US, Florida and Michigan.
@TheYarbros you are black Americans...your original hmeland country...lemme tell you Kenya is one of the developing countries...we are not like U.S.A..you are just visiting low Budget places...you are talking about a city...and your videos are of green vegetation
You are talking about a city while you are running around around the jungle. Why didn't you show us a tour of the city? I think that was gross for the locals.
1st the greenery is a huge part of the city as we stated in the video. Next, the police trying to shake me down constantly when they see my camera make it complicated to record. So, corruption which I also spoke about in the video is an issue. Lastly, whatever you think is pretty irrelevant here. Support or find another channel lil homie. We busy putting in work for our ppl who can see where we're coming from.
@@TheYarbros Well good luck. I can suggest a place where corruption is not an issue at all. Meet me in Asmara , Eritrea next April and you will see the difference. I am not from Eritrea but if you make your next visit to that country ,I think you will be like....." hmmm. Really ? Amazing." 🙏
Thanks for pointing it out and I am glad you noticed. I don't know what his attentions are, but he hasn't showed anything other than Giraffe centre and Karura forest. He was pretty much lamenting all through about Nairobi. We clearly don't need these kind of visitors. Let him bounce back to Cape Town where he feels he belongs among white people.

Thank you for watching but I believe you don't understand of what this is about. My audience is looking to leave the USA and I show them the ups and downs of different places. Thank you for watching. I hope we can meet for coffee or tea one day so you can help me understand whatever you feel I don't get.

@@TheYarbrosI always advice visitors esp AAs who r exploring the continent of Africa to visit a number of countries if possible,,it'll give u a better perspective
Nairobi has other parts that are more Suburban areas. Why aren’t you showing the other parts. I saw many other Utubers walked at nights. There are many other Utubers.
6:28 why were the restaurant workers behind bars? Is that common? Reminds me of some stores in USA inner city hoods where the workers and products are behind plexiglass.
That's not a restaurant. It's "wines & spirits" (liquor) shop. Such small shops that operate very late at night, particularly in places where there isn't much traffic in the wee hours, might have the metal bars to prevent theft
@@polycarpkadima5385 Such a silly comment by you. Do you really think people around the world are taught about different business designs in Kenya? I'm from Europe, well educated and never learned about that. In Europe, we would find it odd that people are behind bars serving food and liquor. We don't have such things.
@@polycarpkadima5385 It's common sense that different countries have different designs...everyone knows that. He was asking if it was common in Nairobi to have these metal bars at restaurants or places they serve alcohol. If you knew the answer you should just respectfully answered instead of insulting his/her level of education. You were very rude.
It resembled more of a jungle to me. We went to several parks and the huge foliage resembles a jungle to me. Personal interpretation. I don't remember the name it's in our video history if you want to check it out.
Hi, love your content. Would you be willing to share the air bnb info once you check out. Don't share while you're still in stay for privacy and safety. I'd quite appreciate it
The way you have undersold and mischaracterised this city is just mind boggling. One month and this is all you came up with? Funny how many African Americans love it here, it just goes to show you how people see things differently. Also, apart from the giraffes at the giraffe centre, you never showed anything else. No sights and sounds, people, infrastructure, city skyline, shopping malls - nothing. This was such a poor take and very underwhelming. Good bye!
Sir, don’t you know this couple is ant-black, and doesn’t fancy their counterparts? Why? Because I have been observing them for quite sometime now, being to the fact, I enjoy psychology. Don’t you see how disrespectful the husband was to the bartender? He referred to her as “girl”. He has never behaved in this ghastly manner, in non-black countries. He was always polite to women. The thing is, when they are in non-black countries, they are bubbly, positive and friendly. Please, study them carefully and you will see how differently they interact with Blacks and non-black folks. I have drawn this conclusion many moons ago, that they are self haters. As a matter of fact, I have called them out on this very matter awhile back. Truth be told, they are an embarrassment to African Americans. Sad state of affairs, really!.. xxxxxxxxx.
@padmasalam5267 I saw a video or two of them in SA, I think Jo'burg and Cape Town and I actually once commented that he should come to Nairobi and forgot all about it. The algorithm sent me to his channel today and was excited to watch. Bit after watching the video I was aghast at how badly he sold our city whilst showing nothing. I find it hard to believe how other AA's enjoy this city and how bad a take he had on it. Hopefully the algorithm will send this to many Kenyans so that he can learn from Kenyans on how not to misrepresent their country and pretty much poo poo on it. Thanks for your feedback, I now get it. I can see gray hair on their heads, clearly it ain't wisdom but petulance.
maybe since i'm from a major city in the US the chaos didn't bother me. I also did in Nairobi what I do in my city, go find art. The Go Down Art Centre, Kuana Trust, the markets. The only park I visited was Uhuru. My fav place in Kenya is Lamu. Nairobi can be a little sketch at night, but so is the city I live in.
Ayo, let people enjoy the City at their own pace. Nairobi is a developing city and it's not for everyone. Nothing personal if some parts aren't to what was expected to visitors, let's treat each Nairobian well whether they're staying or passing through. Let's be honest, take the feedback and work on it. We're still growing, keep improving. Wacha mafeelings bana😂
You are welcome to criticize all you like. Personally, I love this vlog, under produced and laced with facts and personal perspectives. However you feel is fine w/ me thanks for watching.
@highrealms guess it's the same statement those baby Mama's you have in every state in America are asking. You need to pay them child support homme. .. go to that "Capetown" nobody wants you here in Nairobi. We don't give two fucks.
@highrealm. Yeah you should also go back to the hood cause it's calling, and Keisha be looking for you. Nairobi does not need you stay in that Capetown your doing us a favor by not coming.
I’m not sure what part of Nairobi you were in. The names of the parts of the city you were in would have helped. It doesn’t sound like you were outside of the CBD and the most rundown oldest part of it at that. Doesn’t sound like you went into any of the suburbs as such given your definition of walkable. Lavington, Riverside, Kileleshwa are all walkable as per your description all the stores, restaurants etc and quite a bit of pavement. Many middle aged and elderly people live and walk around these parts of the city. Given your references to “humanitarian” needs and the fact that you started in Kilimani you were probably in the vicinity of Kibra which is a slum. There are tonnes of other commercial districts (like Upper Hill and Westlands). There are also tonnes of other neighborhoods that have a different feel from the three you appear to have experienced
@ that explains it. You were downtown and definitely in some of the more rundown parts (matatatus are not allowed into other parts of the CBD). I hope you get to see other parts. Nairobi is actually quite a big city and the neighborhoods and different commercial districts have their own individual vibes. It’s possible to come away with an impression that’s actually quite specific to a particular neighborhood or part of the city. I hope you enjoy your stay.
Our fist bnb was in Lavington we have spent time in Westlands, Karen, The Village Market/ 2 Rivers area and of course CBD and Kilimani. Our next objective is to get out of the city into the suburbs and surrounding villages before heading to the coast. Any recommendations would be appreciated.
All I can do is describe what I see with honesty. How ppl feel is important to me but it won't change my perspective. Them showing me something else can.
Thanks for watching. I disagree with you but respect your opinion...but it was rated the 2nd worse traffic in Africa behind Lagos and 10th in the world. It's not just me saying it. www.kenyans.co.ke/news/102889-nairobi-emerges-second-among-african-cities-bad-traffic#:~:text=Nairobi%20was%20ranked%20at%20position,Nigeria's%20was%20pegged%20at%20354.5.
No way hater Kampala is not a city but a dirty village market. For Kigali it's understandable, they have a dictator and it's a small one street town about a 100th of Nairobi
@TheYarbros the irony is, America needs more humanitarian than Kenya. The homeless number there is over the roof. Kenyans own what they have, meaning less than 3 percent have mortgages. We grow and distribute our own food meaning we would still survive without supermarkets. Sometimes people think they know it when infact they don't know at all. So who needs humanitarian?
I have never seen such a bad take on Nairobi. The white savior mentality from a black man who think they got Nairobi figured out. I've been holding off from subscribing and I won't watch him again.
@@alexchui3511 What you have stated sounds ignorant and low IQ. Every country and city has pros and cons based on someone's perspective. Mentioning that you will not subscribe or refuse to watch another video on someone's channel, screams that you are an attention seeker. Normal people don't have to mention this. Don't let the door hit you on the way out!
When you come from the hood in the inner cities of USA with a GED education you will strive hard to buttress your poor upbringing by demeaning other parts that surpasses your expectations. I expected the least you could do is atleast hit the gym.

Happy New Year! If all goes well, we'll be able to visit Rwanda. We'll look into that bit of info though.
@ 🤞🏾👍🏾😊
Well balanced measure of Nairobi. For foreigners you almost got your judgement perfectly accurate.
Great video yall! Thank you for the Very detailed information! Love the giraffe center! 😁🙏🏿🙌🏿
Giraffes are the best! Thanks for the support! Hope y’all are still doing well!
I have been to Nairobi four times lived in the slum area twice and never had a problem
Kenyans let's not be too defensive. It's not a good look. As long as people are not being malicious, we have to let people have authentic opinions.
That's how we know what to improve. We know we have improvements to make.
Thanks for watching and moderating lol. Blessings!
Sad that you are Kenyan taking BS from foreigners.
Did you mention that, Nairobi is located in a national park…
No, I am saving that for our safari in the city...coming soon.
Love the hair April 😊
Thank you!
Unfortunately your hairstyle didn't help with the security and the police 😂😂 they fear Rasta.. thanks for the video and welcome back to Kenya .. karibuni sana
Lol, I'll start tucking my locs lol
This is misleading. I have had my dreadlocks for 13 years now, and I have never had any problems with the security. Keep the locs free my brother
Yes, yes I hope they were cracking a joke because I was. Loud n proud over here lol
@@TheYarbros it was most definitely on a lighter note, I have locs too and wear them proudly wherever I am 💪🏿👍🏿👊🏿🙏🏿
Happy new year great video 😊
Happy New Year to you too! Glad you liked the video!
It may not be how or what you usually present, but IMHO , since you’re in the neighborhood and if you’ve got a few extra dollars and some days, you should go into the Mara …. 😊even just for your own experience.
Kenya is a developing country. So please bear with us.
Bear with you??? We Love you! Just want ppl to know what to expect. RUclipsrs lie for views we want to balance their lies.
There is a beauty to the struggle here. Before we talk about that beauty I wanted to say what I said. Blessings and thank you for watching.
If you're not open to diverse culture, traditions and laws, you'll keep looking for your home country everywhere and end up disappointed
I won't disagree with you but this comment has nothing to do with us. We are literally sponges for culture, traditions and laws but where I live my life must be in alignment with all of those things. Make no mistake it isn't the laws, culture or traditions here that were difficult for us.
Hi there, I love it there. I'm looking forward to coming back. Where can I find the Airbnb info?
Hi, do you have any recommendations? Here's the link bit.ly/nairobibnb
How Is The Internet Connection In The Hotels? And People Private Homes.???
We've been staying in Bnbs and its 15 up and 15 down connected with a fibre connection. In the coffeehouses its the same. i don't know why I am sure it can go higher but 15 mbps seems to be the standard. I am sure if you own your own you can have much quicker speeds.
Your observations are appreciated and respected about Africa much love from 🇿🇦🙏
Thanks for your comment!
April love your hair. You two look great, enjoyed the video.
Thank you!!! We really appreciate you tuning in!
First off, sorry but the music in your video is gadamnawful...maybe I'm really old, but trying to get your narration was like walking around Muthurwa in downtown while talking to my boss on phone! (yes, nrb downtown is chaotic) i sadly had to read the subs 🙃🤔
Thank you for visiting us.
Okay 👍🏾 Thanks for watching.
Corruption, sidewalks issue and expensive is true. Nairobi is for the young and working class. People retire outside of Nairobi.
Thank you. Do you know of any locations we can visit for retirees.
Yes, internet is not as fast as it should be in Kenya. But with the introduction of 5G, there should he major improvements
Looking forward to it!
I was able to have a similar Giraffe experience in Florida at the Brevard zoo. We were able to get close just like you did. Awesome experience!
That's so cool!
Great job... Glad to see you in Africa....
Thanks for watching!
You are right about the local representation, we plan to get deeper into that on a future video!
Finally, you guys are in Africa
🙂
Great content 👍🏿💯
Glad you liked it! Thanks for watching!
Great video. I hope to visit Nairobi soon.
You should! It's definitely worth the visit.
great video😊
Thanks for watching! We're glad you enjoyed it!
OMG, YOU MADE IT TO AFRICA 🎉🎉🎉 DO EXCITING. Was it visa free?
Yes! We did some videos about South Africa - it was visa free/90 days. Kenya requires an Electronic Travel Authorization, about $30/35 more or less/90 days.
@@TheYarbros okay thanks so much. i am so glad u both made it. You beat us there.
It seems you were in a short stay, thanks though, Nairobi Kenya is among top cities in intenet cover, Nairobi is New York of Africa, you just get used to it, have you been to other African countries?‼️🙏🇰🇪👌❤
We're still here and getting in the flow of life here. Yes, we've been to South Africa and Namibia. Working our way around the continent...
This is one of the best and most objective travel videos I have watched about Nairobi
Why did you came bythaway 🤔🤔 what's your original homeland bythaway..
😅😅😅
@@TheYarbros have you ever heard of terrorists attacks in Nairobi?
@@TheYarbros 💯💯💯 the police shakedown is annoying and pitiful. Thanks for sharing your truth and what you experienced. Much appreciated. Some folks get too emotional when the truth is put on blast. That emotional bandit complaining is welcome to film their pov and share. There are some great recommendations in the comments, 👏🏾🤝🏾My black thought
This video is a classic example why African Americans are viewed in a different spectrum from White tourists by some section of Africans
I'm okay with that. We aren't the same.
😂It's okay that you love white people more than us Black Americans. We already know from witnessing it in America from African immigrants.
@@KoolE23Not really, but the so called Black Americans are their own biggest enemies..bad attitude, check out Auston Holleman, and his friends they are different and that is why Kenyans love them
Karibu Kenya!
Asante love!
You DO NOT KNOW WHAT YOU ARE TALKING ABOUT CONCERNING NAIROBI KENYA, You Are Very NEGATIVE, The Kenyan Society Honors And Respects The Elderly.
I not once mentioned dishonoring the seniors of Kenya. I did not intentionally present a negative picture. I simply communicated what I have observed....and if I am being honest I removed a lot of my video evidence and I removed a lot of my presentation that I though would offend.
Thank you for watching but I believe you don't understand of what this is about. My audience is looking to leave the USA and I show them the ups and downs of different places. Thank you for watching. I hope we can meet for coffee or tea one day so you can help me understand whatever you feel I don't get.
The title is BS. You can't judge a city by a few incidents or a short visit.
That’s true, but you can definitely get an impression. These are our initial impressions and observations. We look forward to diving in deeper.
@TheYarbros While I appreciate and respect your position, the title of your video may be construed as a conclusion based on extensive research rather than a tentative observation, as you state. Karibu Kenya. Kenyan 🇰🇪 here.
@@TheYarbrosI always advice visitors esp AAs who r exploring the continent of Africa to visit a number of countries if possible,,it'll give u a better perspective

Yes just check with a local b4 u come for do’s n Do not Nairobi is a vibe miss it every Day!
A local’s perspective is the best one to get.
Nairobi has other parts that are more Suburban areas. Why aren’t you showing the other parts. I saw many other Utubers walked at nights. There are many other Utubers.
We haven’t been there yet but look forward to seeing and sharing more as we do.
Love/hate your honest opinion of my city. 😂
I understand. We're looking forward to going deeper and highlighting the beautiful struggle that is happening here.
6:28 why were the restaurant workers behind bars? Is that common? Reminds me of some stores in USA inner city hoods where the workers and products are behind plexiglass.
Different countries have different designs, school should have taught you.
That's not a restaurant. It's "wines & spirits" (liquor) shop. Such small shops that operate very late at night, particularly in places where there isn't much traffic in the wee hours, might have the metal bars to prevent theft
This sounds about right as we haven’t seen many ships behind bars.
It depends on the speed you’re buying… Just like in the US 🤷🏽♀️
Interesting perspective....depends on how lose you are with those vacation dollars.
Why Would You Say, A JUNGLE Instead Of A FOREST? What DNA Test Did You Take 15% Kenyan???? Very Interesting ????
It resembled more of a jungle to me. We went to several parks and the huge foliage resembles a jungle to me. Personal interpretation. I don't remember the name it's in our video history if you want to check it out.
Warm welcome to nairobi
Thank you!
Bruh from another muh! Dunno how you were walking straight after that double.
😂😂😂 idk if I was walking straight my camera work was a bit...off😂
Hi, love your content. Would you be willing to share the air bnb info once you check out. Don't share while you're still in stay for privacy and safety. I'd quite appreciate it
Sure thing!
I agree
maybe since i'm from a major city in the US the chaos didn't bother me.

No, we started in the city proper. We're exploring the suburbs and surrounding towns and villages now. Thanks for the direction.
Cool
Hey guys I don't know what Kenyans will say to you of how you describe Nairobi. Wait for the answers 😢😢😢
All I can do is describe what I see with honesty. How ppl feel is important to me but it won't change my perspective. Them showing me something else can.

To my surprise Kampala and Kigali as better urban planning than Nairobi.
No way hater Kampala is not a city but a dirty village market. For Kigali it's understandable, they have a dictator and it's a small one street town about a 100th of Nairobi
Hmmm hopefully we'll make it there.
@clementson 9658 Yeah hater how are your numerous baby Mama's and those child support checks you need to pay. Concentrate on that. Yep!

those are like mini cities in nairobi , we have called you to plan unfortunately you cant even plan the same kampala
Wakenya mumesikia humanitarians waje..mko na jaa sana... 😂 😂
Not trying to generalize, just expressing what we've experienced in our limited time here. Everybody needs somebody sometime.
