This has been around a while for Logic. This isn't new. I would say the majority of professionals who use logic know about this, and use this. This video is kind of coming off as wowwwww, 2+2=4 , i never knew this, guys did you know this?
This has been in logic for years (at least 5-6 years) . . . it's good, and I use it now and then, but it's never been that 'tight', even on clean melodies it produces a lot of garbage that needs cleaning up . . . still useful, but something like Dubler2 is leagues above this.
If you want cheat code try dragging an Apple Loop into Sample Alchemy and switching it to additive mode. Turns every Apple Loop into a playable instrument.
This feature (getting midi data from flex pitch data) has been with Logic from around 2013 when Logic 10 came out or even before. It doesn't always work good, but for certain sounds it works pretty well.
Audio to midi has been around for a while, I use it also to layer sounds that were recorded to Audio .. Great video, and your producer chops are spot on.
One of the only producers I learn from who’s music I actually mess with so heavy , I wanna hear you on the radio . It’s that good . Hope to work with you one day.
I didn't know about this. The Logic tips are invaluable! Thank you. My flex pitch sometimes doesn't analyze the notes, but I'll try this next time. I also like "Que Te Vaya Bien" :)
so weird that this is exactly what i've been struggling with for a while, I can play chords on midi controller but not Melodys so thanks for the tip, I'm inspired!
Amazing tip! I’ve been using it with minimal Flex Pitch quantizing. You can maintain more of the legato nature of the voice when converted to midi, which imo is the magic of the human voice compared to your average synth patch! Stoked I found your channel 🙏🏻
It's really great to seeing women doing music production and being very intentional and knowledgeable about music and technology. Thank you for sharing this.
I used it on Logic for a couple years, it was pretty cool.. but now there's something even better I think, "Dubler2". You'll be able to lay out ideas even faster (less step you have to make) than this method since Dubler2 is basically a Midi Controller, it's like having a piano but using your mouth. You can even set it up for chords (thank me later), it does cost $150 but I think it's worth it. Comes with a VST you can optionally use that cleans up the midi.
@@Elainelagon Awesome, just know with dubler2 its able to work on any dynamic mic now. I used it on a small dynamic Sure SM58 and works great, but now I use it on a SM7B, I feel like it works even better.. like the one you have on that Don't Let Go cover.
@@RX793 yeah that’s my drummer/ former music producer’s mic we used for that cover and all my other original songs. I have a Shure 57 mic and a Samsung G Track Pro. I’m a lot quicker with my voice for singing melodies on the fly. I’m trying to do better on the piano, but I’m not gonna be as quick enough yet.
Had no idea about this function, but it doesn't surprise me. Most people never learn everything about this daw "Like Me". Thanks for doing the homework and sharing it with us. You music is🔥🔥
This is insane and widely informative. I just dropped the voice memo into logic Pro, and followed those steps and boom! I have thousands of voice memos like this. Thanks a bunch.
Wow! I never knew about it until your video. Thanks again for sharing all the producing and audio engineering secrets that improved me. Again - you are a fantastic artist and a producer.
Yes great feature. And for those times when you're not in front of your DAW, Voice memos on the iPhone is a great way to capture those ideas. And then just import into LPX!
Ok you just earned a Sub! I have ben using Logic since Logic 7 on PC and I never knew this was possible. Geniunely something I didn't know about Logic! Especially built in versus buying yet another plugin? Amazing.
I dunno if i can sing everything out maybe low key hum it out but this seems like a game changer that has been sitting in front of me and I knew would be with midi
@bigacreations WHAT?!? Ma’am, deepest gratitude for this & your kindness to share. Wishing you the HIGHEST success forever with your incredible music. Bless up. 🙏🏽
That has been there for such a long time now, at least 10 years. I would use it on random guitar tracks to figure out what was being played and then turn them into some accompanying synth parts.
For the track with vocals, if you had shaper box for instance, you could use shaper box on a separate track, and change the out put of your vocal track to run through the midi track that shaper box is on. And in shaper box at bottom left, you select midi trigger, and now your shaper box is being triggered by your vocal audio and you can make it sound like a synth. Or do the same set up if you have a vocoder plug in like polyverse’s ( i wish ) plug in which is a midi effect or any other midi effect. Nice recording!
Yes wow, very nice. Thank you very much. I knew it would work. But not how. And how easy it would work. Thank you very much. All the best for you !!!. Greetings from Österreich/Austria Peace ✌️
🇧🇷🇧🇷🇧🇷🇧🇷👏🏻, Well I knew this from using melodyne, but than logic came up with flex tool and and all, then almost everything that was done in Melody , started being done inside logic pro. I suspected that this was available transforming wave into midi notes changing these mid notes around the way you want it.
😃 glad you found it. Truth be told (for us oldies) this isn’t a new feature. This feature has been around since the late 1990s in Emagic Logic Audio (before Apple acquired it). At that point Logic Audio could convert monophonic audio to midi within the audio edit window. Logic Pro really is a powerhouse. I’ve been using it since v1 on the AtariST (and also NotatorSL before Logic). I still open windows and menus and find functions I didn’t know were there!
I got hip to this feature about 2 years ago using the vocoder. I then had an epiphany to create a baseline using my voice and converting it to midi. 😂😂😂
I’ve known this for some years now but I’ve never used it. I found out about it when I had learned you could do the same thing in Ableton. Since finding out about it on Ableton, I naturally started to wonder if the same can be done on Logic. I did a little research and saw that it was a feature on Logic.
I have been doing this for a long time in Studio One 😂. But Logic is still amazing. I use several DAWS and they all have their strengths. By the way love your vids and music. Keep it up 👍🏾
Yeah it's a great feature. I do this with melodyne just because I feel it more accurate. But I would for sure opt for flex pitch ( not everyone has extern Plugins, I reckon this, so it's good to know how to work with what we have. 😉)
Hi, great but when I play back the new midi track who came from my voice, many notes( unsung) are added i don’t know why. Can you help me with this please ? Best from France.
Love your content and edits! Are you using your Rode mic to record your audio for videos? What camera are you using? Also the aesthetic of your room is such a vibe #ThatsMyWord
Did you guys know about this??!

Yes I'm aware of it. 😅 It is a nice feature. I'm surprised you weren't aware of it 🎉🎉🎉
Yes been using logic sns 98 there also another way to that

Thats- wow I actually never knew this one fr
Ayyyy, that’s what’s up, THANK YOU! 👊🏽👊🏽🙏🏽
Logic finally has a sampler??? Ayyyeeee jk.
You’ve always been able to this even with the EXS, the EXS has been Logic sampler for as long as ten years at least..
@@jameswhitaker4357finally? It has had a bunch of samplers for years!
I use melodyne for this all the time, it's a great way of doing melodies 💯
Your songs are really excellent ... and the vocals and your voice are TOP level
Thank you!

I guess that's why she first corrected the pitch
You are one of a kind sharing this! Thxs grts from Belgium.
This is crazy never knew this fire feature thank you 🙏 keep making more Logic Pro x tutorials

Wow! wow! wow! Never thought this is possible in Logic, and was looking for so many ways to do this all these days! Thanks so much for sharing!

That has to be the best melody advice I have ever received! - knocks the pants of arpeggiation over chords. 😇

Ableton always had it. Just drag and drop into midi and you get to choose the type too!
that's pretty siiiick! leave the original vocal line in with the new midi one at a slightly lower volume see how that sounds.
