The Israeli army built a 60 foot of sand mound on the east bank of the Suez Canal as an obstacle. Also, they connected napalm pipes to the canal waterway. The Egyptian commandos blocked these napalm pipes with cement and opened many passage through the sand mound using fire hoses and water from the canal. These two main obstacles along with Parlev line were no match to the Egyptian ingenuity.

The Israelis did not believe Hussein's warning,
so his meeting with them did not affect the outcome of the war.
If you listen to the Egyptians in this clip, they had no illusions about "destroying the Zionists", but merely capturing a sliver of the east bank of the Sinai.

@b52gf16c Thank you for the complement. I'm from Iraq living in the UK.
The crossing of the Bar-Lev line and the attempted recapture of the Golan heights was a response to the 6-day war. Or did the Israelis expect that the Arabs would not try to recapture land lost? It was internal mistrust between Syria and Egypt that cost the war. Egypt had told Syria that they would advance across the Sinai. But when the Egyptians halted, the Israelis concentrated their attack on the Syrians

Other Arab states sent equipment and showed support, although the Jordanians were not vastly enthusiastic. Libya provided Mirage fighters and money to purchase Russian weapons. The Soviets had advisers but Sadat forced them to leave later.

Syria came close to victory but operational failures undercut them - leaving tanks without infantry relegated them to decimation by smaller enemy units. Unlike egypt ATGMs were used hardly. Pilots had no dogfight training. Crossing equipment was left in back.
Pressing the attack Syria stopped - moving by calculated gains, letting enemy reserves reach, made worse by repeating a failed strategy.
Overall Hafez's tight control and subpar training unravelled it.

1973 was a tactical victory for Israel.
By the end of the war, the road to Damascus and Cairo was wide open,
and the Egyptian 3rd Army was cut off and surrounded.
But the war would achieve Sadat's geopolitical aims- the return of the Sinai.
Syria got NOTHING out of the war except dead soldiers.

Egypt goal was to capture the sinai.
at the end of the war Israel held sinai and prevented Egypt from been close to its people.
On the other end, Egypt didn't hold sinai, lost over 10% of it's army and more than 8000 soliders were taking as prisoners.

Their planes were shot out of the sky and their tanks picked off by Egyptian infantry. And of course if one country is abiding by a cease fire while the other continues to march what do you expect? The Israelis could not support the losses they encountered for long. The Arabs could.
