    375 Kilowatts = 510 HP 325 Kilowatts = 442 HP
    1 kilowatt = 1.34102209 horsepower
    I am American, but live in AUS. I still want it in HP as well.

    Now I'm an Aussie, my parents have an XJ 3.0 D, great fun to drive and I'm in my teens. Jaguar is moving to the younger market, in the fashion of Mercedes Benz and Audi. They are not ugly, infact they are quite the amazing car. Many people will always ask, "Is that a Jaguar?" As if its a surprise. The Jag XJ is no longer an "old man's" car. It is a car for both the old and the young of today.

    Chuck a walkinshaw kit on the grange and it would run rings around the jag performance wise. And lets be honest, if you can afford a grange, you can afford a walkinshaw kit

    yeah man, i agreed, but the E2 or E1 Grange is a much better choice. E3 is just ugly.

    The only HSV i've known before here in germany is the Hamburger SportVerein (sports club of hamburg), mainly known for their football team (or soccer or whatever you call it down under) ;)

    at the end of the day for those who can afford it, a car is way to have a feeling. none of these specifications bullshit is gonna mean anything unless you get the feeling you want.
    there are millionaires who could afford any car they want but they choose one car over the other not because of specifications, but because the way they feel about being seen in that car and driving it around.

    Well just letting you know, I come from Victoria, Australia; the state which porduces many parts for Holden's and Ford's and also houses their assembly plants. I have also grown up around these "cars" too. Being from a country area, they were in great abundance. Also my family has preoviously owned Holden's. (A 1990's Calais, 2003 Caprice). And we sold them with great disappointment, for they didn't furfill our expectations. I never liked European cars from the start, I grew into that liking.

    100% Agreed. My family has The XJ 3.0 Diesel, and I will vouch for it being the most involved car I've driven, besides maybe, the Range Rover 3.6 V8 Diesel which is from the same line of Ford engine's anyway. I've had the great privileged of driving a Mercedes S350, Audi Q7 4.2 TDI and a BMW 740i. All were great cars, but the Jag, well, I need say no more than it is a terrific car.

    It looks like a Jaguar. You are paying for the luxury, stately design. You obviously haven't seen it in person. It also has air suspension. REAL LEATHER AND WOOD! The technology and safety is world class. Ventilated and cooled seats. Refrigerator, high end sound system.... And that isn't all it has to offer but I can't be bothered listing them for you.

    The Jag is a compromise between luxury, looks, practicality, comfort and speed. It doesn't give you one good thing, it gives you a little of everything so you can use it for EVERYTHING.
    The only thing I don't know if it can be fitted with a towbar.

    The Grange is better looking but the Jag is faster & more luxurious....
    Im not a posh prick, the Grange would be great for burnouts.

    • @MrChevypower
      @MrChevypower 10 лет назад

      My father had a VS Grange. Brand new it seemed nice, but as it aged and the rear air suspension clapped out to the point where the car would bottom out on a dip on a normal road if 3 people were in the back. The woodgrain stickers on the dash (that's right, not just fake wood, but it was on stickers, that became more noticeable as they started to peel). Then came the new model with the promise "we got it right this time." Then he got a WK Caprice and that rear suspension clapped out from towing. Always had a diff noise.

    • @BadDriversOfTheIllawarra
      @BadDriversOfTheIllawarra 10 лет назад

      MrChevypower The VS is renowned for mechanical errors. The 90s was a bad time for Holden until they brought out the VT which was the best thing since the VL.

    • @MrChevypower
      @MrChevypower 10 лет назад

      MrHeyfuckoff I had a VT Berlina gen 3, FE2 suspension. Powertrain was excellent, chassis was terrible. The IRS on it was a joke. Poor traction, poor handling. They put a state-of-the-art powerhouse inside a dinosaur that couldn't handle it. I test drove a Clubsport that I almost bought before I got the Berlina, and that thing at full throttle could never find traction. It would snake all over the road, even in 2nd, and if I remember right, even into 3rd. The Holden fans at the time would have just said "well that's cos it has so much power." It had too much power and torque for the chassis, but there are far more powerful RWD cars out there that can put the power to the ground. I'd say the first decent chassis was the VE though don't have much experience with it. I gave up on Holden at that point, became much more interested in 4x4s, and plus I moved to America.

      Mate of mine owned a VS Calais 304 years ago. Drove it hard for four years and sold it with 315,000k on the clock and in that time needed plugs and leads and had to replace a re-breather hose. It ran like a clock when he sold it. Cheap and super reliable. (And naturally sounded better than my L98) his wife still has her 6cyl VR after 5 years, don't know the Kay's on that but it has never failed.

    The Ford and Holdens cant match the interior quality of the Jag, but dont let that put you off. The interiors are still good, even more so in the Ford with better plastics and A pillars that aren't gi-normus. The value + performance should seal the deal. :)

    I think Holden's are an Australian car because you cant buy them anywhere else unless you are buying a Pontiac or a Vauxhall and there are differences in tuning wise and body shapes. I think it is safe to say they are Australian cars just because i know they are built in America doesn't mean there Non Australian. Holden's are an Australian icon.

  • @Alchemistifical
    @Alchemistifical 12 лет назад

    If its any consolation to your small mindedness, HSV actually exports cars to the UK under the Vauxhaul name plate. The fact I know this is scary as I much prefer an FPV Falcon over any Holden, however, a Vauxhaul VXR8 (Note XR8 being a Falcon Nameplate) is what some might call Australia's leading 'performance' car. The Jag is definitely one of England's leading examples. Hence the comparison. Just because the Aussie name plates are unknown to you foreigners who clearly don't speak English.

    What? Go Australian? I do like the HSV, but the cars are in completely different leagues. The Jaguar competes with Mercedes AMG, BMW M, Audi S and Lexus F. The Holden Caprice/ HSV Grange really don't have competitors. They might compete size-wise but it lacks brand prestige, quality, looks and most of all QUALITY! As the reporter said, it did have a 'no-frills' type interior with horrific plastics. So I am still wondering why Top Gear Aus even bothered comparing the two...

    If it's a matter of "bang for your buck" then the HSV is the hands down winner. If we're comparing them for what they are, which is high performance luxury cars, then the Jag could've blown its gearbox & diff & still be better than the Grange.

  • @MatthewN56736n4
    @MatthewN56736n4 12 лет назад

    I think your comment here has just reinforced the meaning of me saying "I can't be bothered". You think Holden's have more design and character than the biggest and best automakers of Europe. There is no point proving something to an inanimate creature. Anyway, I wouldn't want to see an organism like you in a car like those anyway. It would devalue the brand image.

    They really aren't cars you can compare and the price reflects that.

If i added the GTS auto and Diff and a supercharger it will still be a great car to have and drive, it just depends on who does the work on your car thats all, but keeping it stock is always the go, how many times have you seen any car that has mods done to it from a stock car and you get you $$ back after you have had the car low KM as well, never ever, unless you can prove it 100% that the car is still under factory warranty, after the warrenty is gone, the price of the car goes way down, like the same car on here the XJ supercharged is now going for 110K, yet when it landed in australia it was selling for 3 times that much ?

    The only top gear worth watching is from the UK, with Jeremy Clarkson, this was a one sided attempt to promote a very subpar GM/Assuie product against one of the finest super sedans on the road. It's like trying to justify buying a Nissan GTR vs a Bugatti , they are both quick, both considered legends in their lanes but one more is king and we all know who.

I didn't pay enough attention to car what was said during the start of the video so I missed that.
