    Townsend an idiot. Great club managers rarely make great international managers as it's a completely different job.
    Spain have just blown everyone away in the Euro's having given the job to a guy who worked his way through their youth system and has only been in charge for 18 months. We should learn from that.

      It’s important to look at how the tournament played out though. Spain were very consistent and solid but the big hitters didn’t show up to the levels they usually do. France were struggling, Germany had rough patches in games, Portugal put too much emphasis on Ronaldo who is in a clear decline and so on. No one matched them this Euro and own goals dominated the tournament. With all that Spain really took advantage of the perfect time to be the most dominant side while most others couldn’t match that consistency. It didn’t feel as open as other major tournaments for that reason and Spain were the team to beat early on with no realistic threat.

    The whole point is Spain does not need a high profile. manager because the Spanish "system" and "culture" is so deeply ingrained in all players from all clubs and because the Spanish FA operates like a club and thinks and plans long term. A guy like De la Fuente can take the team and make it champions...twice in 6 months. This is not because he is a genius, this is due to years , decades, of silent hard work

      Spanish footballers have also been better than English footballers for many decades. Even at Euro 96 they were technically superior as was clear for all to see in the quarterfinal that England were very lucky to get a draw out of.

      Cos England produces average players and coaches, few of whom attain the quality wanted by foreign owners. The premier league is a highly competitive entertainment business producing huge profits for the owners and they are looking for what talent is available from around the world. Obviously your comment was stirred by hatred and bigotry and had little to do with sport.

    • @Unpopular_Truth

      @@imwelshjesus Before the Premier League England had plenty of good coaches and used to dominate European club football, but the Premier League has restricted the opportunity of your English coaches, yet we still produce good English players which is probably helped by UEFA home grown player rules. The same thing is now happening in Serie A and the Bundesliga as they have more foreign players and coaches, so less home grown talent and managers are available for their national teams. I would suggest that UEFA bring in a home grown rule for coaches as well as players to address the issue.

    The very first consideration by the FA MUST BE, is what style of football we want to play. Please,high pressing attacking football has to be the way to go because we have players that play that way and have the skills to take us in a positive direction for the World Cup.

    • @musayibghani3986
      @musayibghani3986 Месяц назад +1

      High pressing football is very unrealistic at a summer International tournament. After having a 60 game season for their clubs, players are knackered. To think they'll be pressing the opposition really hard is very unrealistic. I think the key is keeping possession, that's what gives you momentum. Especially under pressure if England could keep the ball they could build attacks they could've beaten Spain. But the gk, cbs and midfield were too scared to get the ball at the back under pressure in case they lost it, so we resorted to long balls. Keeping the ball under pressure around the back is an art form in itself.

    It's a massive and challenging decision. I hope the fa go for the right fit to produce winning football on the pitch not best fit for the fa. It's either got to be Eddie Howe, klopp or pep for me. Anyway, klopp and pep have basically spent the best part of a decade in England, arguably half scouse and manc. They have the proven track recored of winning, attacking football and changing teams, as well as not being afraid to make big decision with big players.
