He's not wrong. I know alot of peope that watch football just watch football they don't cross over to Rugby. i watch both and England Rugby in the past 2 year went through something similar, England Rugby had a coach Eddie Jones who was playing a style of rugby that the fans hated, alot of kick chasing. England were on a downwards path in the rankings and then we got a new Coach in Steve Borthwick and Felix Jones and now we are playing a way better style of rugby with ball in hand and more attacking that fans are loving to see. Gareth had a good run but a new coach can inspire the players and bring fresh new ideas and systems. The timing is really good too with 2 years untli the world cup for the Manager to put his stamp on the team.

He's always been a defensive manager but, to be fair, Southgate's teams in the previous tournaments have played some pretty decent decent football at times. The cliche that we were a "moment's team" during this tournament is true;as a neutral, the Dutch game apart, you'd have turned off every England game after 20 minutes. We were dull, unimaginative and disjointed, and that did surprise me.
My thoughts on England's style of play, which I've had as long as I can remember, is similar to what Souness has been saying. They don't play enough through midfield. I don't know if it's the speed of the game has increased, or that the midfielders can't do what is required (*), or that successive managers refuse to play that style. * What is needed. More possession in big games against the better teams. Midfielders (probably two, but at least one) who can sit, behind play, spray progressive passes around, control the tempo, have the brains to know when to hold the ball and where the space is for that, and basically have the nous and ability to play in the style of Pirlo, Xavi, Modric, Kroos, Veratti and those sort of players who control games. The last genuinely quality one England had was Scholes, I think, and he started out as an attacking midfielder for Hoddle, then moved around a bit. But, remembering his most common role at Man Utd, we don't make many in that style, do we? I say 'we'. I'm Scottish so I'm automatically assumed to be out to put down England down, but I'm not. My own country has a similar background of kick and rush, hit it long to the big guy and play off him, which I expect is where it all springs from. We also regress into stopping playing under pressure except we're worse and about 50 places below, so I'm not having a go. I'm just trying to analyse it from a football point of view. The football would get prettier if England got more of the ball and tried playing a bit with it. That has to be put at the deeper midfielders. Rice strikes me as more of a defender at times. If it's three at the back I'd be tempted to put him there and let him sit 5 yards ahead of the other two. Then have the two players who best suit the sort of player described above in front of that, and they need to be disciplined and prioritise getting and using the ball. And you can worry about what goes in front of that (whether you have a forward who runs behind and whether you have wide players who come in more or ones who go outside) after that. The one thing not to do is pick the biggest names and then try to make them fit. But then, of course, you do think, ''Well, who could actually play there and like that? Who is England's best deep-lying midfielder who could do that?'' and you are left with two very young players (Mainoo and Wharton) or maybe a re-developed Foden (after warning against trying to make players fit! - he does, however, have some of the required attributes, whether he has the discipline or range of passing, I do not know) or various other players around the Premier League who have had the odd cap, or not, and would have a lot to prove trying to control a game too. And Trent doesn't seem right either as long, sweeping passes aren't really what's needed either. It's the wrong style for what is missing. Is it because we British fans demand a quick style of play? Do we need to start applauding more when some guy turns into space or plays a forward, 10 yard, pass and change our focus at all levels? Is it the weather? Is it cultural? Is it historical? My thoughts are that I wish we played a bit more football. Like the Spanish do. And we really don't, at all, even when we (again, applies to England but applies across all the home nations) get good results at our relative levels.

still breaking in them new teeth Danny
When did Dyer become an authority on football
Lets be real Dannys alwaya been a mug, get people who know f*** all about football on sports shows just cos theyve been on some shite feels that only appeal to juveniles
Plastic gangster
Danny Dyer 🤷🏼♂️ who gives a dam what he says , another 4th rate celebrity.
Why do England footballers and fans have to be “working class”? What is working class anyway? We all work. If I don’t work there is no money. I have no inheritance or money in a Swiss bank account. Have to say I dislike this working class nonsense and if you’re not working class you’re not to be trusted. Utter bilge spouted from people who are not that bright.
It's more about social class dictating opportunities. Working class= poor. It's nice to see people overcoming adversity to achieve something. Simple as that. The hero's journey, overcoming adversity etc.
Dyer believes working class people are salt of the earth. Clearly it's been a long time since he lived on a council estate...
No issue with Danny, he seems like a good bloke... But it's wild how he's been dining out on one movie role as a fake football hooligan for 20 years. Nice work if you can get it! Good luck to him...
Hes had a few decent films tbf
The Business is a top film
Danny Dyer clearly out of his depth talking about football
