To address a few of the questions brought up in the video: 1. Lume will be brought up a few notches on production models. 2. I'm going to see if we can up the water resistance, but no promises there. It's a lot harder to waterproof non-round watches. Not impossible, but just raises the cost a good bit. 3. Bracelet! That will be coming later in the year. It's one of those that was super important to me to get it just right. I didn't want to throw a stock feeling bracelet on it just to check the box. People who buy a watch now will get a steep discount on the bracelet when it becomes available. As a side note, all those bits of dust your amazing camera is picking up will be gone for the production models, and we're also fine-tuning the finishing on the rotor to smooth that out a bit. I think for the type of watch, 5 Bar WR is plenty. More lume is always good. I love bracelets, but I am unsure the look of this watch will benefit from a bracelet. But as they say, beautiful is in the eye of the beholder. I love the big crown. Beautiful watch.
Something fresh and unique, bloody love it, think it would look good on a Milanese bracelet or even a white leather strap. Think it would be hard to get that crystal to seal up to 100m with all them angles Great review 👍
I might go for the same... I have a Farer GMT with a lovely blue/green dial, so I think I'll go more in the green direction here. Torn over the movement - I have another Miyota watch and the rotor noise is annoying (for me), but then would miss out on the exhibition back with the quartz...hmmm
Really like this watch! It's a tonneau case design done right, nice and unobtrusive. It combines classic and playful design elements. It just works! In this case (pun unintended) I see no reason why not to pick the mecha quartz movement.
Peter, Great review! Just discovered this brand and late to the party of what I think are the best colors, blue and green, as they ltd production and go with new colors.
The color is neat, the movement is fine the exhibition caseback is a nice extra and well done. I am not personally a fan of square watches so this watch gets a thumbs up from me even if I am not buying it 🙂 It is well done.
Great looking watch! I love the square design which is very different from what I'm used to seeing (I only have G-Shock squares! 😉) As for Nathan's comments re: the improvements he'll be doing to the watch, that is fantastic to see that watch manufacturers are listening! I like square watches, nice to share it with us Pete! Not real crazy about that strap, but there are many other options to choose from. A blue or orange rubber strap would really take it a step above. Thanks for another great video Pete!
I love the way this watch looks, and, just like you, I think it's a very bracelet suited watch. If I had to buy one, I would go with the Mecha-quartz movement as it's cheaper, reliable, silent and precise. I just don't like the Miyota movements sound. As always, excellent video Peter!

I think this is a beautiful piece I'll happily add to my modest collection however I agree with others saying it's overpriced for what it offers. Also I would've been much happier if they'd stuck a small round date between 6 and 'automatic'.
It's a great addition to the gamut. It's one I'd love to try, especially for the almost square shape with nonetheless rather subtle case. I agree that crystal is fantastic. I don't think the reflections would bother me and any other solution would likely detract from the quality. Also agree that having gone with what feels to me like a sporty dial design, the watch deserves better lume and 100WR and this would translate into more time on the wrist. Would be great if Trafford follows through on this. Despite all the positivity, I don't find it as immediately convincingly likable as e.g. Brew designs or that funky purple Vanbanner. I'm not entirely sure, but it may have to do with the typography. I don't mind the fonts, but don't love them and I don't mind the colour way but don't love it (the Vanbanner also was especially superb in that purple to me, and colour equally is important in Brew). I don't own any of these watches, but they somehow seem to relate to me in a similar way. They are accesible and quite fun or quirky while completely avoiding any caricature. That said, while I'm not sure how the prices compare, this feels a little expensive and that may be due to better finishing, but it makes it harder to take the plunge for the more unusual shape. Ultimately I feel I need an extra push to get really excited, which could be colour, font, or price perhaps. Bracelet would be interesting. I don't think just any bracelet would work with the shape.
On closer inspection, I think the Cabernet or the Blueblack mockingbird are the ones to get. Unfortunately no live footage of these in reviews just yet. I think these colour ways make most of the contrast colours and perhaps offer that something extra. Ultimately, I struggle with the price point, especially via KS and pre-taxes. The value may be there, but it's at a point where I feel one must seriously consider if it is worth adding to a collection. Especially when considering the Cabernet, for my collection, there is a case to be made (connotation fully intended). I find it harder to defend the expenditure. Other micro releases seem to sweeten the deal more easily. Speaking of which, a different review mentioned a hardening coating finish, but I find no reference to this. If nothing else it would add to the value proposition and nice to know it will stay in good shape. If so, the future bracelet would need to follow suit. But like others, would a later bracelet addition not further damage the value proposition?

I don't think "3 or 4 things you don't like" are "copious". Seems a bit negative for a watch that you basically like. in fact, the concerns you have don't seem really seem appropriate- I don't see how you can fault the crystal at all given the design decision to curve it, which you actually like. The lume is a toss-up but there are more expensive watches out there with worse lume; this doesn't look awful. The movement "noise" concern at this price point is just nonsense - without an ETA, at $200 more, you're getting the "correct" movement for this price point, IMHO and it is, what it is. This is a rave review, in my view.
Peter I’ve got several tonneau style watches, vintage & retro. This is one of the few that just does nothing for me. Whether it’s the dial colour or strap, I’m not sure? Reminds me of Brew watches, although they’re chronograph, yet I like their range. Go figure!🤪Also I think for the money it’s overpriced even in basic quartz.

Looks very FARER'ish. Nice. Signed up for the Seiko VH31 quartz version with the Agave Dial option.

I would get this with the miyota 9039. That is a great movement, with reduced rotor noise. And best, no date function so no extra crown push.
