Totally. But he’s kind of self-branded himself this sort of shrewd and crewed business man. It’s always about the money. He’s like that art collector that only gets a piece for its investment sake.
Yes thats understandable. I watch kevin a lot and this guy LOVES (making) money. He loves working and being successful, and he measures the fruits of his effort in terms of monetary value. The money represents FREEDOM. This is largely connected to his happiness and sense of self worth. Theres more metrics for his happiness, like family, but in public the thing he talks about most is money and success. And lets be honest, this guy worked most of his hair off and as a result he is very successful and free to do what he wants. Heres the thing about kevin regarding watches. One of the things kevin took on as a principle is to always make money somehow when he does something, if possible. The same goes for watches. Kevin really loves watches, primarily because of the beauty of the dial design, but I also believe this love is partially conflated by his love of making money/freedom. I bet you that kevin will be more compelled and obsessed by a watch if its also a good investment. Who can blame him, investing and making money is what he is good at, its where he derives his self love, meaning and freedom from, something most people can use a lot more of. Of course he wants to communicate the merits of his efforts, insights, decisions and assets to other people. "Look at this amazing investment that I made" is what he is trying to say when he mentions the investment value. We all want to communicate the things we are proud of and we often do when we get the chance. When he does, he logically makes it seem like its just about money and status, but its not. For example, even though his stocks have better returns (presumably) than his watch collection, he really does not love his individual stocks as much as he loves watches. Not even close. The foundation of his love for watches is the appreciation and preservation of art, with the extra benefit of also making money. Personally that doesnt bother me, rather it seems like a valid approach to many things in society, investing and life in general.
I am a dial guy. Disease. Investment. Fantastic. Piece. Red straps. Collecsion. All the time, the same things repeteated one after another, in all videos, without fail

I feel like Journe brothers get annoyed quite a lot by their customers like Kevin. They're so deep into watch craftsmanship and creating stunning mechanism while customers like Kevin are looking at them as pretty things that will make them money or things that will elevate their ego from the exclusivity of those watches. Kinda expected from people who built their fortune by investing and selling and the sad thing is they are the only ones who will buy their watches
It’s the same with most mediums of art. But it has to get funded from somewhere- and those who pay astronomical amounts for something usually want: status, exclusivity, and appreciation of value. Those three things are everything to a guy like Kevin.

Great pieces. I regret not pulling the trigger on a Chronometre Bleu 3 or so years ago for just under USD20k. It was all I could afford at the time and would have delayed plans of leaving my job by a couple years. Still kick myself each time I think of Journe.
Laurent after listening to Kevin buying four FP watches , "Well so what?", his expression did not change one bit. Hilarious. And Teddy is a geek.
this guy is so done with o'leary's monologues

Why would they be annoyed, that's their market. Who else could go and spend 2 million dollars on 5 watches other than collectors and investors?
Damn the first piece Kevin pulled out was fire

"That's a great watch, it starts a conversation" --me, talking about my Scooby-Doo watch from first grade
Great job on Teddy wearing his Zenith Chronomaster Original!
Great interview along with great explanations of the movements.
Wow. This must be my second favourite RUclips watch video after Talking Watches with Mr J. C. Mayer.
this is some premium fuel for my watch obsession

Really love this interview and in depth knowledge. Thanks a lot guys!
The guy on the left looks like he came here directly after he woke up straight from the bed.
Journe (on behalf of Francois Paul) : Miscellaneous Swiss watchy talk.
Teddy (smiling): I'm just happy to be here (but didn't dare wear a God-level Casio)
Kevin (with a look of utter bewilderment): Yeah ... Gold ... Platinum ... Art ... Investment ... Faberge Eggs ... Incredible.
...brand... brand.. brand
The journe dead second tourbillon and the new one with the flipped tourbillon is quite possibly the most incredible single watch ever designed.
Mr. Laurent Journe looks very handsome, elegant bright and have a amazing knowledge from FP Journe Watches !
I am amazed when people talk about watch as a. Investment … it makes it so commercial … a watch is to be cherished , enjoyed and then passed on . It is a testament of times good and bad which we all go thorough in life .. if one has to sell a watch things aren’t going that well in life
Teddy is incredibly knowledgeable about watches. Such great questions he asks. Very insightful.
Stands in contrast doesn’t it?
Amazing watch. Good luck for the future.
I get that Kevin is a money man but these watches are more about the art than the value, I really think that point flies over his head

“It’s art and you don’t wear them to tell time”
And then the other guy lectures about time accuracy on the next watch.

Accuracy is part of the art for watchmaking, it’s like pursuit of perfection. All great artists are pursuing perfection in their mind, but it’s just not accuracy.
Lovin it Mr. Wonderful! Good to see Teddy wearing a journe in his wrist.

Teddy is wearing a Zenith, not FPJ
He is wearing a Zenith.
Wow...what a collection!!! Love these watches!!
You think Mr Wonderful has done an exchange rate in his head a time or 2? Lol 17:06
One of the most sought after watch manufacturers on the planet, making purchasing one at retail basically impossible.... Kevin walks in ... I'll take 4 of them please and thank you lol
You are great my friend! Nice video!
I respect F.P. Journe a lot..last year one of best F.P. Journe friends in Belgium die R.I.P.
I respect the most: F.P. Journe vertical tourbillon and centigraphe Ferrari f1 dial like discontinued black butique dial..
That was special... thank you!
Art is such a hard to explain thing, feeling, you can't grasp or measure, yet the impact is heavy. To those they feel...
Incredible watches. Thanks for this!

I love the fact that every time Kevin mentioned ‘investment’ it was ignored, and deservedly so
Kevin doesnt realize that jacket looks ridiculous on him?
Every time Kevin talks about investment, future value etc, I just cringe.
This!
#ftx
Absolute cringe. Both fellas on either side try not to make faces either.
This! Hes asking the wrong questions too
I thought I was the only one

9:18 this is gold is it not, that shows Kevin dint understand shit what the mechanics of the watch are. But who cares he can afford the watch and also one who can explain ABT his watches. That's life.
Exactly, he doesn't care about the history and beauty of the craft.
@@dannymurzea He's said multiple times that he only cares about dials
his entire life was built around investing… ofc he is gonna focus on investment. he says he likes value appreciation and conversation starters, that’s fun to him. What’s wrong with that?
"The dial would have been imbalanced"
....
Kevin: "This is gold, is it not?"

@@spencerpatterson8815 Everything. Watches are NOT an investment , they are an indulgence. If they happen to increase in value, that is one thing, but get a certain hard to obtain model, and flip it, you will be black-listed by the AD. Journe are about making complication masterpieces in the shape of wristwatches, they are not about creating something to be traded like a bar of bullion. People like O'leary have little grasp of the nuances of watch collecting.
I will own an FP at some point in my life. Thank you for making these videos. I absolutely love them
Good luck to you sir
💥A rare insight👍 Excellent experience 👏
I know 2 people that own these. They say they are very finicky. Anything other than time only are very fragile. They both had to bring them back for service. 🤷🏼♂️ but stunning.
A watch ‘collector’ that say investment in every second sentence
This was awesome, well done
Love F.P.Journe
Hope it doesn't get too popular, I want to buy one before I die...
You're joking right?
I don’t get the hype.
Kevin and Teddy should have a watch show or something, they play off each other really well.

I'm just going through the Kevin O'Leary/Teddy Baldassarre compilations on RUclips and loving them all. Need to see more of this! One day when I am up to a couple million in passive income a year I might dip my toe in the F. P. Journe market. ha ha
