As a Queenslander I was hoping they wouldn't pick him but as a football fan Edwards couldn't be left out again, he demanded selection.
Teddy will go down as one of the great full backs of our generation. But Gus is right it's Edwards time now.
Gus is absolutely spot on. As great as James Tedesco has been for NSW and Australia, it would've been a great disservice to Dylan Edwards if he wasn't given the chance to play Origin for NSW at fullback this year.
Its no disrespect to Teddy. Gus spitting truth chips.

I always thought origin was about picking the best players … it’s hard when there is multiple players of similar talent going around have a look at the talent that wasn’t picked

I’m not entirely convinced on Edwards at origin or Nicho - but jeez man there’s only 1 way to find out. These 2 can’t do much more. Yes Nicho’s Sharks didn’t look good at all the other night against Penrith - but judging a team or a player off of a performance against Penrith right now is mental. They are a juggernaut at club level - we’ve seen a few high class Penrith guys look not as great at origin level where things even up - Cleary & Yeo included. It’s a different thing - and really the time has come for Edwards & Nicho to be given a go.
Yes and Teddy is also getting a bit old, he gets knocked out easily, especially when he slips just before he's tackled for some reason. Still a great player.

I’d like it to out of respect but the reality is it wouldn’t work. Part of the strength of both their games is they are 80-minute workhouses - there are better impact players for 40 minute stints.
That said, the idea does have some merit given Madge has no backs on the bench, which I just cannot understand. Hopefully it all goes well for us but we can’t seriously expect 3 games where none of the backs go off for an HIA
@@khanager2814 well said, we do have a problem with no backs on the bench for sure, your right there will be HIA's to contend with, I do think that with two fullbacks though it would be twice as hard for Qld to get their game plan set in stone, one thing I do think though is we have one half in luie that had a shoulder op and the other in hynes that has a shoulder issue and they are playing in the hardest hitting game there is, I can see Qld outplaying us for some reason
I'd love to see them carry 2 specialist fullbacks too. Go Queensland.

It is time for him to make it his own...... if by any means he is not at his best on Game Day it will get very interesting after that..... I can't stand this hype around Edwards. He plays off the back of Cleary, he's good at club level. If he proves himself now under real pressure,then I'll fully respect him
Really, he has played a number of games especially in the last two years without Cleary and his performances have not varied. I fail to see how he plays off the back of him. If you wanted to say anything like that maybe say it about Luai, even that would be a challenge given the performance against the Sharks.

Tedesco won his only premierships playing off the back of Cooper Cronk..
The only fullbacks I've seen completely dominate without a good team supporting them are 2009 Jarryd Hayne and 2021 Tom Trbojevic.
Unfortunately he stunk it up again breaking down NSW attack all the time with his horrendous passing game

He’s a great player and Australian 🇦🇺 Captain, he has a club team that needs him to get them to the finals this year , he’s not bothered by missing origin, it probably suits him better not to have to play in that contest this year and just concentrate on his club , who have played some amazing football 💯🏆🥇✅🐔BET the next time Australia 🇦🇺 has a test side James is in that team 🏉 Edward’s is good and he will only get better with experience, Cherry 🍒 Evan’s will be kicking the ball away from him all night , making him have to run after the Football 💥🎯
