The harrigan / carrol hit is my most memorable ever. Its timing in the season, and the rivalry was massive. It was such a pivotal shot for so many reasons.
solid list only one i can think missing that deserved to be mentioned was segeyaro (when he was with cowboys) launching himself torpedo style cant remember who he hit but it was awesome.. also honorable mention to Ben Matulino when he folded issac luke sam thaiday scott prince and chris houston (i think)
Great list, although i think you've included the same Jake Friend tackle twice. Great countdown and good to see a few in there from guys who aren't renowned for their defence. Good job!
My favourite tackles are the good mid torso height that come in hard and fast. The tackles that resemble shoulder or chest charges are no good and result in bad concussions. Great compilation.
Video suggestion: Top Tries on 5th and last and/or the top game winners. Hazel el magic side line conversion to keep the doggies 16 game win streak alive against Newcastle, my all time game winner. Keep up the great content👍🏽
5:35 Rabs: Oh, Friend has been hit by the big blue fella. Gosh I miss Rab's commentary LOL. A couple of notable omissions: 2013: Sam Burgess on Sonny-Bill Williams 2008: Tonie Carroll on John Kite
Kidwell on Mason, or Kidwell on anyone, and the reverse Wiki hitup on Solialo, Missing a few Francis Meli, and Vatuvai, and special mention Kevin Locke versus the goal post
Before everyone’s time, I guess, but in 1978 at Leichhardt Oval, The Big ‘O’, Olsen Filipaina (Balmain) cut Terry Fahey (South Sydney) in half with THE best tackle I have ever seen. Have never seen a better tackle, head on, one big man on another. That tackle turned over possession, lead to a try and changed the momentum of the game. Personal opinion but one I hold strongly.
@@Giveme1goodreason I’ve looked but can’t find it. Checked with my brother and pretty sure it was 1978 but we may be wrong. At Leichhardt Oval, southern end near the quarter line near the Grandstand side. Terry Fahey is running the ball out and The Big ‘O’ drives into his stomach with his shoulder, stops him dead and drives him back a couple of yards and puts him on his back. Ball is propelled forward as he is driven back. From that turnover, Tigers scored in the next set and the game swung to them. Pro tip: DON’T run at The Big ‘O’! 40 odd years later and I still remember it.
Olsens coach said to him, I'll put you on twenty minutes before half time then I'll pull you off at half time.Olsen that's great because in NZ we only get oranges at half time.
quality edit...how are the sounds of some of these collisions.....sucks you can't lead with the shoulder..anymore....you can see why though from a concussion perspective...but having to wrap the arms makes it harder now for the tackler...and more likely to lead to head collisions...as they try to wrap their arms high and front on....bring back the biff..
Can’t wait for he kids growing up today who play and watch this as adults when it’s been out the game maybe 10-15yrs and they’ve not experienced it 😂😂😂
My take away is bring back the shoulder charge! Every forward uses their shoulder when taking a hit up so why not allow the defenders as long as there’s no contact with the head. This was peak NRL!
I assume given the video qualities that, like in every other contact sport now, the majority of these hits would be nonsense penalties or whatever rugby equivalent?
I wouldn’t have picked the top 2 any differently. Great video. I feel like an honourable mention should go to Greg Inglis on Chris Sandow. It wasn’t a tackle because HE had the ball, but Sandow tried to put a shot on (and sometimes he would pull it off) and Inglis just absolutely bounced him.
2:56 watching this one, i thought that could be considered shoulder charge, because he didn't even try to put his arm around him it was all for the force. correct me if im wrong but i would consider that a shoulder charge (even if it is a light one)
This is peak NRL content
I agree, NRL is getting too soft. I miss the days of big hits and "biffs"
Steve Matai will always be the best hit man pound for pound that played Rugby League.
☝️ He got both Burgess brothers too. Punching well above his weight ✍️
@@icekartel8665 Hohaia on Metro was better smallest vs biggest on field, Chanel Tavita Harris is also pretty lethal for a little skinny half
"Cmon Jorge ,that man has a family" that's gold😂
legendary
Yooo that’s a crazy line 😹😹
Amen to that. Gold
10:27 what year is this happened
The man learnt well from Matai. Steve for those who don’t know.
went the whole video thinking how’d they miss matai? Then to see him at #1!! absolutely nailed it!
Jorge Taufua making 50 of the top 100 hits 🔥
Steve Matai and George Taufua absolutely are absolute beasts
taking out anything below and above their weight class...their shots are different
It would be scary asf to play them when both of them were still playing and starting for manly
Jorge Taufua, bloody hell !!!
James Segeyaro's shots, wow !!!
The harrigan / carrol hit is my most memorable ever. Its timing in the season, and the rivalry was massive. It was such a pivotal shot for so many reasons.
It’s beyond me how you only have 18k subscribers. This is the best NRL content on RUclips

This is the best big hits compilation I have seen on RUclips . Definitely agree with #1
Only one thats criminal being left out is Crocker snapping Stewart in the GF. But this by far the best compilation on RUclips! Bloody brilliant!
It was a forearm to the head! Not much of a hit there
The commentators energy after a good clean shot is so good
Massive hits are the best thing in the Rugby League. It's why Origin is so good
outside of the singular dipshit saying every tackle was "tackle of the year" like an American would overdo the call
Great list no arguments here 😂😂😂
Steve matai hands down goes down as the greatest timed hit in history 💪💪💪💯💯💯💯
this might be the best and most important video on the internet
This is objectively the best video on RUclips
Great list, although i think you've included the same Jake Friend tackle twice. Great countdown and good to see a few in there from guys who aren't renowned for their defence. Good job!
Can’t wait for future videos !!
Absolutely underrated channel highlighting the greatest moments of our game. Love your work from Melbourne. Ps I live in an AFL state but hate AFL
If this video doesn't prove that the shoulder charge is a legitimate great tackle and should be reintroduced to the game I don't know what is.
It's not allowed in nro
this just proves NRL "fans" should never be allowed to influence the game
Wow! This video is FIRE!!! I must've winced in pain at least a dozen times.
1. Matai on Tyrrell
2. Taufua on Munster
The rest are honourable mentions
Awesome hits thanks for sharing 👍
Just what I needed, thank you
Oh man that was bloody amazing
I don't know what's more impressive, the tackles or the fact that most of these guys held onto the ball. Wow
when NRL was actually fun to watch... will be missed.
He's hit him with everything. Including his birth certificate. This is why Aussie RL commentators are the best in the world.
best big hits video on you tube ..take a bow sir well done !!!
one that’s been underrated was Olakau’atu and Aloiai’s shot on Olam this season
I agree favourite big hits are Olakau’tu and Aloiai shot on Justin Olam
Number 1 will always be the best. That technique was flawless.
Petero Civoniceva! Get that into ya! Peak commentary 🙌
Steve Matai had to be number one. 🎉 You missed at least 10 more of his but loved it
Great list. My faves were 83, 59, 30, 24, 19, 9 + 5.
Def could’ve had a few more from Steve Matai in there as for me some of his hits are unparalleled, but other than that was a very good video.
My favourite tackles are the good mid torso height that come in hard and fast. The tackles that resemble shoulder or chest charges are no good and result in bad concussions. Great compilation.

Love love LOVE this
Awesome reel of hits!!!
Amazing complication - and thanks for not ruining it with some cheesy rap music
Matt Rua’s hit on Trent Barrett definitely needs to be in there. Same with Ruben Wiki on Adrian Lam
There was a hit in the Manly v Melb game a few weeks ago that will go into future lists. It's a brutal game.
Was it Olakau'atu on Olam?
best clips to watch
Some classic commentator one liners in this video

Man the Warriors and Raiders have had some players who can snap people over the years 😂
Hohia"s is my favourite, timing and technique and a win for the smaller guys
Chanel Tavita Harris back next year to serve up some nightmares
And manly
Steve Matai and George Taufua were elite shoulder droppers with good timing. They could chop up anyone
I mean this is incredible 🤤👍
Happy to see Matai is still No.1. The hit by Matai on George Burges should have been kn this list
This is great thx so much for the upload

I love bit hits.
The best utube vid ive eva watched thx for making my churr
These was the days with the hits n should bring em back in to all rugby
These hits would be a send off these days 😔
'Unnecessary aggression' 🙄
none of these would be send offs, don't try to spin a bs narrative
Tahu awesome shot, lined him up from way out.Attacked from perfect line.
Moses leota on latrell mitchell please include on your next video thanks
Expect this to have 1m plus views within the year
Bro you have the best edits I have ever seen. Can you make a state of origin edit with the nsw players pls
Great video 🎆 thankyou 🤝🏼
More compilation videos please!!!
Needed more Steve Matai.....dude broke people in half for fun
Not to mention he got paid to do it.What a job to have.
True blue aussie commentary at its finest
Gonna take something special to take out that #1 hit of Steve ''shoulders' Matai!!
That one announcer sounds like an Australian Diddy. “GET THAT INTO YA!” 😂
Good list and needs to include some more
Over 50% of these would be a send off these days 😂😂😂
Most of them are from the last few years🙄
don't even try to spread this sort of misinformation
The commentators say Get that into you! for a tackle leading with the elbow. Classic. Times have changed.
I played Prop/Second Row as a kid, so I could only imagine 4:22 is every Halfback's fear lol
1:30 been looking for the SBW Flannery hit for awhile. 🥇
no music all commentary ... fucking love it
I'm sitting here thinking, "Please please - the Craig Field hit."
Can’t wait for he kids growing up today who play and watch this as adults when it’s been out the game maybe 10-15yrs and they’ve not experienced it 😂😂😂
I’m new to this game (love it) been watching about 4 months.
Half of these ‘great’ tackles are penalties & 10 in the bin in 2023
Watching this in 2x speed😂😂
Only one that was missing was sam burgess on moi moi off a drop out. That was a shot!!!!
That's gold 🥇
Nice video
Well put together ,. a test match montage next pls ,.,

Some absolutely pure tackling perfection in here...among some ruthless shit!
It was only fit to have rhe hitman himself at number 1😊 plus, that was his one and only entry
I assume given the video qualities that, like in every other contact sport now, the majority of these hits would be nonsense penalties or whatever rugby equivalent?
Yeah shoulder charges are illegal now. Most of the tackles in this are shoulder charges. Can't have that anymore.. someone might get hurt.
@@caledunsmore me when I make shit up:
@@Pool-h5w Shoulder charges aren't illegal?

Sandow went flying but you’re right he put on a lot of good hits for a little bloke
Gotta love it
There was a great hit by Kane Evans on Sam Kasiano which I didn't see here, great hit which was definitely worthy of being in this list....
Hey man, you should do a video about grand final rematches I love to see it 😊
2:56 watching this one, i thought that could be considered shoulder charge, because he didn't even try to put his arm around him it was all for the force. correct me if im wrong but i would consider that a shoulder charge (even if it is a light one)
You sound like another bloody whinging do-gooder.Why don't you join a knitting class.
2:02 what year is that big hit from
Half back moses on the Storm prop on his try line is missing.. 😉
But great video. We'll done..
I do appreciate a good hit job.
GET THAT INTO YA!!
Wow you play a tough game
Beats European Rugby these guys are real hard arses shame you have to go to Australia to watch it live the hits vibrate throughout the stands
Great video, 9.5/10, but umm… Where is Justin Olam getting folded like origami??
“get that intu yuuua” - Andy Raymond 😍
America thinks they’re rough
