- In this video, former U.S. Navy SEAL Marcus Luttrell presents his experiences during a specific combat mission.
If you have never heard of Operation Red Wings, we encourage you to research it and the ultimate outcome. The movie Lone Survivor is based upon this true story.

The REAL story! They were ambushed by 8-10 Taliban and Marcus RAN. On the Taliban video you can clearly hear Lt Murphy screaming for Marcus to "come back" The forces they sent in to rescue/recover anyone from the crashsite found Marcus the very next day in a village not that far away. He had to use crutches but could move around on his own power. Also all his mags were FULL meaning he didn't fire one shot.
When they asked him where his team was he told them they were ALL DEAD so they slow rolled the search. Also couldn't give them an accurate location where the bodies were. (HE WOULD KNOW IF HE WAS FIGHTING) They found Murphy & Dietz the next day but didn't find Axe for 10 days leaning against a tree. Medical examiners said he just died a day before being found. So if they didn't slow roll AXE would still be alive.
This story is all fiction and this guy is a coward.

Yeah when marcus told them axe was dead they figured marcus seen him die so they waited but axe was still alive he was found 3 miles from where marcus last seen him so he was moving for a couple days before he was killed if marcus told the truth axe might have lived because they would have looked for him asap the guys in the search team said they couldnt understand why they couldnt find axe near murphy and danny now we know why its sad
You ran after first shot lied about whole thing and you know it and so do a lot of people who really researched this left your buddies to die.
It is out he fled. The look is not PTSD the guilt from lying. He walked out did not crawl out and had all most full mags... HE walked to the rescue helicopter did not crawl. AXE was found 10 days later Lutrell Team leader near the extraction point the SEALS withheld that information of the extraction point for 8 days to cover up the failed mission. Axe was only dead 2 days from his wounds. may could have been saved. Lutrell lied about them all being dead he fled as they were asking him to help as the fire fight started. This was Lutrell's first mission first fire fight and the coward ran. POS. There was only 10 to 12 enemy they got surprised. ..He says first time I thought about this is the first time he lied... he pauses while telling some of the story to remember his lies. SHAMEFUL. Look around the true Seals are releasing the real story that was covered up.
Yes more to his rescue. 2 helicopters got shot down and were left a lot died it was a fiasco. The SEALS pulled off thier best people from the rescue helicopters because they knew they were heat seeking missle launchers in the area.. And of course the rescue team of Vanilla military the regular military flew into a shit show,.
Yeah the marines and army guys that searched for the bodies couldnt understand why they couldnt find axe near murphy and dannys bodies because marcus told them they are all dead they thought marcus seen them die so they waited to search axe was found 3 miles away from the others thats tells you he moved for a couple of days before he died if they had looked asap axe would have lived its sad they said axe had no ammo left so he fought to live all marcus had to say was i dont know where axe is and that would have changed alot
In his official report to the Navy he wrote that his team faced 35-50 insurgents. In his book he said they fought in excess of 200. The Taliban who saved his life said he found 11 magazines on Marcus, not a single bullet fired. He claimed his thumb was almost blown up, his hand destroyed, most surgeons (including my wife) said there is no come back from the injury he described, yet less than a year later there are photographs of him shooting from that same hand. He describes incredible wounds, a single one of them would mean dismiss from the Armed Forces yet, the Navy accepted him for another tour...
And yet, he wants you to believe that his exploits were such that Chuck Norris himself was proud of him.
Great fiction Mr. Luttrell, that is the only credit I give you. A brilliant, creative mind.
Exactly 💯 💯 There used to be a video here on RUclips that was filmed by one of the Taliban as they were attacking. You can clearly here Murph, Axe, and Dietz calling for Marcus as he runs away from the battle. All three had their voices confirmed from living relatives and other SEAL members.

I'm not sure if it's still on here or not I watched it back in '20. But I remember it being very controversial with hundreds of comments from Veterans who never believed Marcus' story.

There's a picture of Marcus Luttrell in the Newsweek article titled "Marcus Luttrell's Savior, Mohammad Gulab, Claims 'Lone Survivor' Got It Wrong" showing his face without any injuries. The Rangers who found him claim he only had some scratches and a single gunshot wound in his butt. Very far off from the injuries he claimed to have suffered.

@@russpost2557no he was found with no ammo one of the men who rescued him gave him all the magazines he could carry in case he needed to ingage the fight when he was being rescued. That’s my take I wish I could really know what happened that day. I feel like I was born in a different era. Crazy as it sounds I wish I was with them guys on that mountain that day.
Found with all 11 mags full and taliban recorded that actual firefight and although you can't see you can hear Murph yelling for marcus to come back as if he were running away

I read your book Lone Survivor and it was amazing i really couldn't put it down once i started reading it it was very informative Thank you for my freedom and for your service thank god we have guys like you fighting for our Great Country! Man you motivate me every time i listen to your speeches and whenever i think im going through a rough time in life I remember your story and the Hell that you over came your a true Warrior!
And much of what happened during that op is a fabrication by Marcus, and the Navy as well. But, if you like a lot of fiction mixed in with some nonfiction, it's a great story...I guess

Luttrell also publicly supported Chris Kyle's bizarre stories that were also found to be false. I guess liars support liars. How Luttrell has treated Gulab, the man who protected his life with his own, is also shameful and disgusting. @@Jdogflan35 Lone Survivor wasn't even written by Marcus Luttrell. It was written by Patrick Robinson, a British fiction author. The real operation told by the Marines and Army Rangers are much different from Luttrell's story.

Yea there definitely trained very well. But the seals are not necessarily the baddest ever. It's more of the fact they use the element of surprise to there advantage. Either way I'm not dissing them because I respect our fellow members of service. There definitely trained to fight defend etc etc and are way more skilled them the average man.
I'm sitting here with tears in my eyes. I was just talking to a guy a my job about how I should have died in battle instead of working a 9 to 5 for people who only counts dollars and cents. I had my military career stolen from me while I was stationed up at Drum. A girl lied to me and then wrote the husband that I didn't know about a letter saying she cheated on him. I was a tool she used to either get back at him or just break his heart, well it wound up altering the next 23 years of my life. I'm fighting in the gray every day since. I was never given a debriefing on how to reenter the civilian world and I have never quite understood the people around me ever since. Unless they were Vets. I was a Saw gunner and an ice cold killer. Now I have to smile at people when they deserve a beat down. My mind has never rested and I have never sought out help from a civilian shrink because they could be the one who takes that ass whooping. Life can be taken from you in an instant. Thanks Marcus for telling your story. Your brothers died a noble death! A soldier's death. A sword and shield awaits them and they stand guard outside the gates of heaven! God bless

Mr.Luttrel I just wanted to say I can tell that you had a tough time telling what happened to your brothers Murphy, Axe, Danny and your self. It could not be a very easy to talk about or to live with every day. But even though you're brothers have passed away you are helping to keep there memories alive and helping retired veterans. Also would like to thank you for acknowledging that at the end of the day all military forces come together in times of crisis. Thank you for your service and may your Brothers rest in peace. "You ever wanna test someone's loyalty you gotta get em in a pinch" I worked as an engineered demolition expert for almost 5 years. I scaled almost 2 stories of fence to grab and untether one of my closest friends after an unintentional collapse. I saw the same man get hit in the throat with a concrete chainsaw at full rpm from a kick back, I scaled the lift I was in and sprinted untethered across a beam to find him in shock and somehow unharmed. Being nonmilitary I can only assume that is the type of brotherhood they have.
This interview gives me chills. I love how Marcus can go from funny to matter of fact and serious within no time.

The bravest thing Marcus did in his life was chase the guys who stole his puppy. Lone Survivor is a complete fiction!
Marcus ran in the middle of a battle and never fired a single shot. Rangers found him with all 11 ammo magazines that he had packed.
On The Antihero Podcast "Marcus Luttrell: The Truth. Former Seal Eric Deming talks about it. He even mentions that they had surveillance Predator Drone footage of Luttrell running from the fight.
What’s unfortunate is the movie was all a lie. It didn’t happen the way the movie portrayed. It wasn’t an overwhelming force, and he ran away (based on his own words when he was rescued) from his brothers, and when he said they were all dead, they actually weren’t. When they found the bodies, one of them was still alive until 1 day before they found him against the tree. Anyone watching this needs to RUclips the real story and what those that rescued him had to say and how Hollywood changed the story bc it would make that SEAL team look bad.

Ask him why his mags were full when they found him.
Ask him why he said Ax was dead when 10 days later, they found Ax’ body and ge had only been dead MAYBE 2 days.
He could have been saved if it wasn’t for Luttrell.
Even the Afghan who saved him commented publicly, his mags were full.

Tell them about your Twin brother taking your place for 4 days Marcus. You should never have graduated from BUDS. Maybe that's why you ran when you're team made contact. Tell them about how you were rescued with 11 full magazines. Axe was alive for 9 days and you told everybody they were all Dead. A lot of people don't know that. He never completed BUD/S on his own. During Hell Week, he and his twin brother did it in shifts.

I’ll say none of my husbands friends like him, and many of them said they read his book and it motivated them. Husband thinks he was s bag that administratively couldn’t be kicked out, but didn’t have the spirit and never worked out after training.

I dont beleive a word he says , but that's my own opinion. Too many lies and inconsistencies in his book and speeches. I find it amazing that he remembers every single detail of certain incidents in this operation. Claims he spoke to Murphy when he was trying to make the sat phone call, also claims to have carried Dietz on his back aswell as seeing Axelson who was severely injured. That's a lot to do for a guy with a broken back etc. Claims that it's Murphy calling to him for help in the Taliban video and embellishes his tales to suit his own needs.
RIP to the guys on the ground and in the air who died because of careless and little planning for this operation

I have loved listening to this for years but lately there have been all kinds of stuff being said about this operation! We may never know the real truth! But Marcus you have my respect for serving our country! You were definitely in a very bad situation and it didn’t end well for your team!
The true true story is he ran and left his team behind. He put that in the reports and others put that in the reports. The whole operation was a CFk from the get and was based on bad intel. It was only 8-10 guys attacking them…not 50 to 100 like he said. Yes, unfortunately the true story is not the movie.

Being a vet 2x Iraq 1x Afghan and 2x Ukraine( Non Military employed ) and 16 years locking some of the most dangerous and delightful people the UK has to offer ! I've lost brothers right in front of me, at the side of me and behind me real heroes that everyday, every minute, second of everyday I think about. It hurts so much that I could and have gone into such grey areas that cliff edges, razor blades, medication, weapons became my best friends and gave me thoughts and feelings that the pain and horror all invisible apart from the scars that show on my face, arms, bent fingers, my limping etc etc, from the next man, woman or child you see, stand next to in a shop queue, talking too at the rugby or footy on a match day, meet during a morning walk with my pooch or speak to on your kids playground at school, could see, were oblivious to but often crippled me and minute by minute, these small, silly things but often life saving things( medication) are used each day in and out for the purposes they are actually created for and 95% of the person using the item have never thought what other uses people can use them for any of the aforementioned traumatic and horrific ways all for a way out of their, our....MY ...invisible killer !!!
BUT, you know what..... If I did use any or all of the items just said for a quick way out an end..... Then, as I see it..... Every single Brother and Sister that have given the ultimate sacrifice a human being could give and ...Have done, then in my eyes I'm giving in and taking a Weak way out that I might as well have given the "SKINNIES"...the " Terry's(Taliban) and all the other COWARDS that thrive on, rejoice, and love seeing our Country's, Neighbouring country's etc etc decent, hard working, loyal, respectful, caring, loving etc etc Heroes bodies and let them decapitate them, piss down their necks and all over their dead bodies to video it and post it onto social media just for fun, threats and so many more cowardly ways ... Crazy story although I wish it was better organized in the way it was told. Curious if he still gives this speech and if it’s more polished now. Also there are points where it’s clearly exaggerated.. “I crawled with my arms and dragged myself 7 miles”… think of how far it takes to drive 7 miles, let alone “crawl” when paralyzed and shot multiple times. Going to go out on a limb and say that just didn’t happen. The very casual way he tells the story sounds like a bit of an old fishing story

I loved hearing Marcus calling out a phony seal James Hoskins. I couldn’t believe how many phony seals surfaced after this engagement.
This speech and Lieutenant Commander Willink's Ted talk I watch every so often to motivate me and to realize if these guys can get through what they did, there is no reason why I can't deal with my issues in life.
Yeah, look up "navy seal marcus luttrell operation red wings speech 2014" for the full story. There are a ton of contradictions in his story. I get the feeling he deserted his team. He claims he didn't know anyone died, yet during his debriefing; after being saved, he was able to mark the xs of everybody. Seems weird to me. He even says himself he met his breaking point and he put his rifle down in the midst of battle. When you're outmanned and outgunned, it's critical the teams working as a unit. If you're slacking, others are picking up your weight. In this case, it was enemy fire. He tells 80% of the story, but I do question alot of the critical details. Many others do as well if you watch alot of his content.
There used to be a video on RUclips of the actual first contact battle filmed by a Taliban on that day. In it you can hear Murph, Axe, Dietz telling Marcus to come back and fight as he runs away. The voices of all three were confirmed by their relatives and other SEAL members.
Where did you read he was able to mark the position of his teammates? A Ranger involved with the rescue describes in his book that Luttrell was unable to provide any information to where his teammates were and the Rangers had to search the entire mountain to find them.

I've heard about 6 different versions of this story so I don't know what to believe, the rangers that left the downed chopper and rescued him have their story. The airforce reserves that came in at night and picked him up, they have their story, the movie and non of them match up with the movie.. So IDK

Sir, I’m sure that the current situation has you speechless and like you said, you had & have limits as to follow. And as to most cases when textbook is used in place of knowledge or just common sense the odds change. There is another version that claims he may not be truthful.. The guy that found him disputed much of his story. They think he ran and there is a Taliban video where the other seals can be heard yelling his name. Also found with full mags. Not anywhere near the number of Taliban he claims and they knew the seals were there. They heard the chopper
This has been disputed by the us military who have more information than any of us have and they allowed him to reenlist and continue to be a seal. If he was untruthful they might let him lie to bring support for the war but they definitely wouldn’t let him continue to serve. Also several other high ranking military officers and former soldiers have backed him. I tend to trust them. The video of them yelling his name isn’t great evidence because that could be anything and it’s really unclear and can be easily edited. The ammo stuff that was claimed was also actually never proven. The dispute between Marcus and the man who saved him has been claimed to be caused by disagreements in weather America should be in the Middle East.

America destroyed Vietnam in terms of land captured but Vietnam still won because America never beat them. @@TheAFLDraftExpert Here is what has happened on the internet in the years since ORW: random, anonymous people have found various articles, materials, and video clips that they are convinced hold authenticity. They will cite AAR's and everything else. They will say "Gulab disputes this, and that..." Except, not really. There are actually zero disputes with regards to Marcus' story as a whole. Moreover, he never raised his hand to tell it but was instead compelled by the Navy, the government, so on. Sure, people will claim there is even a conspiracy behind that, as well. But, there isn't. There is not one visible former SEAL (either in books, podcasts, or etc) who disputes Luttrell's story or casts doubt upon it. Plus, given the amount of attention his story has received and the number of times he has been forced to tell it, anyone who has come across it more than once has to concede that he has been nothing but 100% consistent.
What they don't like is how he tells it. They don't like that he is an effective communicator who has grown in popularity due to the inspirational nature of his approach, as well as the ease and candor he employs. These people are nothing but jealous non-experts, and would never lift a finger to defend their country. So what you do is ignore them.
I can't help tearing up every time I listen to Marcus tell what happened but what amazes me is what he said at the end & that is all those guys that died that day none of them would want you to feel sorry for them... they all knew the risks & accepted them otherwise none of them would have been there... they died with their boots on & they died doing what they loved which was being Seals... sure their families & friends miss them but they wouldn't want any one of them to feel sorry or have sympathy for what happened... amazing guys...

He ran and let his team die. you can even hear him admit "I heard him yelling my name for help, I dropped my guy, covered my ears and quit right then" He then lied to the rescue team and said his team was dead. on the 11th day when they found the final body, he had just passed away a day to a day and a half ago. They were also only attacked by 8 men and they took out none of them. Not a single one.

I dont want to be critical about the story but he said he put his gun down as he heard his fellow seal get tortured and killed, then later said he didnt think anyone got killed. Yet during the debriefing, after being saved, he was able to mark the x's on a map? Also, how does everyone die when they get captured, but he was just tortured and released? I get weird vibes from this.

Unfortunate that Operation Red Wings didn't happen the way Marcus Lietrell says it did. He tucked tail and ran, abandoning his teammates when they needed him most. There is predator video of him abandoning them BEFORE they were all dead. They pleaded with him to help them over the radio and he still ran. He claims to have crawled his way to that village but turns out he was relatively fine and had full mags when they found him. If you don't believe me, look into it yourself.
Dude I watched those videos the only seal they have on video is Murphy after he died. Those videos doesn’t show the other seals and all you hear is taliban talking

One of the biggest spec ops catastrophes in the history of our nation so they made up a bs story to paint them as hero’s and sell the us military to impressionable people. Marcus had full mags, lied and increased the amount of combatants he fought each time he told the story. Post op report says 15 combatants he started saying 80 then 130 then 150 and then was telling people 200. He was found with all his mags he left with full including the one in his rifle. He’s a liar

This video he says he was saying shampoo hydrate and Marcus wasn’t having it it like wtf shampoo. On Joe Rogan he tells Joe about how good a shampoo would have felt and how he would love one pretty much. I just don’t know if he’s changing it due to the audience or not.
