    The way you use the contrasting waste yarn in the beginning is the best I have seen so far!!! A lot of video's I have seen use a lot more of the waste yarn and even cut it later so it cannot be used again. You only use a little bit and the way you do it it can be used again. It is also much easier and faster to remove in your way. Your way is also different in that you use 2 threads in the beginning, the waste yarn and the regular yarn together. I greatly prefer your way.

    Thank you for your wonderful video! I normally skip videos that involve waste yarn because they're a waste of time, as far as I'm concerned, but this is an excellent use of one row of waste yarn.... By the way, I looked all over for a way to subscribe and there was no button to click, so I pressed the bell and I think I will get Notifications. But there was no subscribe place.

    Thank you for this great video. This hat is so cute I wanted to make it too but unfortunately Michael's doesn't carry the striped one anymore. I also knitted a double layer hat with craftsmart yarn and had lots of problems with dropped and tucked stitches. I used the middle tension so today I'll try your method of leaving the yarn on the side instead of the yarn feeder. Thank you for this tip.

    • @AlinaHeraDesigns
      @AlinaHeraDesigns  Год назад +1

      Sometimes is hard to work with Craftsmart. When I knit with it, I knit slowly and with my left hand I push the loops down before they come to the knitting needle.

    Thank you for all the great tips!! I have a question regarding your cast on if you don't mind. When you finished casting on it looked like you skipped the last needle. Why would we do that?

    • @AlinaHeraDesigns
      @AlinaHeraDesigns  Год назад

      When we cast on we start in front of the 1st needle and finish in back of the last needle; then we place it in the yarn feeder which make it in front of the 1st needle which is part of the next round. When I cast on with waste yarn, like in this situation (I have the main yarn + waste yarn just for the cast on so my loops can be more visible to be picked up), the yarn is in the back of the last needle. I don't bring the waste yarn it in front of the 1st needle because I don't knit with it @ 1:37. However, this make the last loop to be without waste yarn @ 7:10 . I hope that it makes sense.

    I saw in another comment that you used the Sentro 40 needle machine. Can this hat be done on the 48 needle machine if you use less rows?

    • @AlinaHeraDesigns
      @AlinaHeraDesigns  2 года назад +6

      Yes, you can make it with 48 needles, but use tight tension (closest to the machine)! For a newborn hat knit 60 rounds, for 6 Months knit 70 rounds. The hat will be a little wider than the one made with 40 needles.

    Great video. I just ordered my machine today. Why do you need to use waste yarn to cast on ?

    • @AlinaHeraDesigns
      @AlinaHeraDesigns  Год назад +1

      Glad to hear that! If you choose to finish the hat directly on the machine by picking up the loops from the first round with the loops from the last round (in this video you can see this method here 6:31) it's easier to see the loops if you cast on with waste yarn as well. I have another video (minute 30) where I show this method but without the waste yarn ruclips.net/video/i1XQsmuLyN4/видео.html
