    Botanica was actually my favorite dungeon to do ever because I played a priest. You got to Mind control the dude at the start for a crazy buff and then there were a few different mobs you would MC throughout that their abilities would completely annihilate the packs. I also hated the 2nd boss of Auchenai crypts due to that 300% casting time debuff which just made it super tedious.

    • @solarstorm5242
      @solarstorm5242 Год назад

      I completely agree with what you say for the first boss of the Auchenai Crypts, it’s a tedious boss for casters, even if you stand as far away from him as you can, it’s still at least +100% cast time, and it’s annoying.

    • @Roofhack
      @Roofhack Год назад

      Yeah, honestly Mech and Bot should be switched. Mech just has far too many annoying mechanics, pun not intended. Bot with the MCs buffs is cool, and so many badges and loot comparatively. And how do you get lost in Bot? It is literally one alleyway.

      Yeah there was a LOT of busywork in TBC. Maybe one day we'll get a TBC Season of Mastery and they can fix some of the gripes (raid wide buffs being the biggest issue - having to bring 4+ Shaman to realistically complete some of the raids was rather tiresome).

  • @Lizard1582
    @Lizard1582 Год назад +2

    They basically just designed 4 areas, (coilfang reservoir, hf citadel, tk, and auchindoun) and regurgitated them for multiple dungeons and the raids. Auchindoun has like 1 unique area in the entire series of dungeons (the bridge of souls in Auchenei Crypts) and the rest is just halls.

      While you’re not wrong, most dungeons feel at least a but different, due to the layout, props and mobs present. And I don’t think it’s necessarily a bad thing either, it makes those places feel quite large when you realise they’re the same place.

  • @user-zg5ew2bm7l
    @user-zg5ew2bm7l Год назад +3

    I agree, except:
    - Hyjal: Definitely not fun imo, regardless of wc3 or not. Was cool to clear the first few times, but eventually it became even more boring than Molten Core, simply because of how long and repetitive the trash waves were + the fact you couldn't make it end much faster yourself, no matter how good your raid was.
    -SSC: Very memorable. This raid did have a lot of trash which made it a little exhausting, but had some incredibly fun and unique boss fights. Leotheras who switched between human and demonic forms, The Lurker Below that you needed someone with max fishing to fish out and Morogrim, which was a cool dps/healing check. However, Vashj was the gem of this raid being a very difficult fight for the time requiring proper coordination & good dps on P2 while the last phase was chaotic with the MCs and green pools everywhere.
    - Slave Pens: I find this one fun because it was arguably the shortest dungeon in tbc if you did the various skips and overall the easiest heroic, usually the first one fresh dinged chars did. A Breath of fresh air compared to the difficulty of BM, Arcatraz, etc.

  • @robertpugh3143
    @robertpugh3143 Год назад

    I started in Wrath, BUT I only had up to BC so my character was capped at 70. As such, I wound up putting together a lot of BC dungeons and raids for fun once I couldn't lvl anymore. Karazhan was and still is my favorite. I loved everything about it. The backstory, associated characters, putting together the key, learning all the fights, shortcuts, how it just got progressively more surreal the further up you went, until at the peak it was like it was half in a totally different reality as opposed to how it appears from the outside.
    I've done loads of other raids since but nothing ever tops the atmosphere of that place. Multiple expansions later, I'd come back on a way more powerful character just to walk through it again.
    It's just such an... experience.

    • @andromidius
      @andromidius Год назад +2

      Dungeons were much more important during TBC for sure. The fact the same Emblem was used throughout meant no matter your gear you'd still do them constantly (until maybe you were well geared from Sunwell) and they were challenging even when you completely outgeared it because there were some nasty mechanics you couldn't ignore and power scaling wasn't completely busted yet (looking at you, Wrath - we're only in the second tier and we can practically solo heroic dungeons already).

    • @MistahTeeLecksAhFly
      @MistahTeeLecksAhFly Год назад +1

      @@andromidius yup. Heroic plus feels like it needs to scale with your gear after a while or overtime maybe the dungeon itself. I feel already that though it is harder than a regular heroic, it’s still super easy. I have like 4k gearscore and can run a heroic + with people with 3-3.5k with little to no issues as long as they pay attention

    I absolutely adore TBC dungeons and raids. It's the only expansion where I actually like all of the dungeons and love every raid (except hyjal). I love questing in the zones too. TBC is also the only expansion where I leveled one alt after the other and actually geared them up at max level without getting bored. I don't know what it is but the pacing (duration of dungeons/raids, how fast you gear up, etc) in TBC just feels perfect to me (and the aestethic of course). A bit faster than Vanilla and a bit slower than Wrath. I actually really dislike how all the dungeons in Wrath are just an AoE rush fest and how all of the gear looks the same. I never played og Vanilla/TBC/Wrath so I only know Classic but I have to say out of the 3 of them I loved TBC the most. 10/10 would play again some day

However, Akama saw this as a desecration of the Temple of Karabor, which is part of the reason why Akama eventually betrayed him. I mostly agree with the raids part (maybe except that TK: Eye and Hyjal are not that fun, just like SSC, but you agree on that at least).
    However I couldn't disagree more on the dungeons part. In general I strongly dislike the tBC dungeons due to the shortness and lack of peculiarity compared to vanilla dungeons. Most of them are designed in a conveyor belt manner and feels too artificial which destroys the whole fantasy/RPG feeling (especially the ones in the Coilfang Reservoir and Auchindoun).
    So here is my list ([+] means FUN, [-] means NOT FUN, [+/-] means neutral)
    HF Ramparts: [+/-] a very short starter dungeon, nothing memorable, nothing bad.
    Blood Furnace: [-] endless trashing with loud red orcs, only 3 bosses
    Slave Pens: [-] unfriendly atmosphere... I can't really explain, but I really hated this place.
    Underbog: [+] huge amount of boring trash between the first and second boss, but at least there are 4 bosses and for one reason or another I enjoyed this dungeon more than most tBC dungeons.
    Mana Tombs: [+/-] Nothing particularly bad, but I don't like the papermen and the instance is just boring.
    Auchenai Crypts [+/-] Now this is an ambivalent dungeon. Very repetitive tunnels and only 2 bosses but those 2 bosses are kinda unique and the Bridge of Souls is epic.
    Old Hillsbrad Foothills [-] It is fun to do once, definitely not fun to do more than once.
    Sethekk Halls [--] Worst dungeon of whole tBC. Only 2 bosses (unless druid quest), no flavor, no fantasy just boring tunnels and dirty birdmen. Very effortless design.
    Steam Vault [+/-] Nothing special, but somehow I enjoyed it more than most tBC dungeons.
    Shadow Labyrith [+] Same boring tunnels as the other Auchindoun dungeons, but there are more bosses which are actually fun, and Murmur is really epic.
    Shattered Halls [--] Insane amount of trash, very long for only 3 bosses, boring atmosphere. Not fun.
    The Botanica [+] most bosses of all the tBC dungeons, more diverse environment and bosses then other TK dungeons.
    Mechanar [-] disgusting pink Barbie world, nothing memorable.
    Arcatraz [-] same as Mechanar. Millhouse Manastorm brings a little flavor, but that's not enough to redeem this place.
    Black Morass [-] auto pilot mode. Not fun.
    Magister's Terrace: [++] Best tBC dungeon. Though still rather short, not as artificial and superficial as the other tBC dungeons. Very good atmosphere. You feel that you are the part of something.

    • @theoutlander1411
      @theoutlander1411 10 месяцев назад +1

      Not a bad list, I think the problem is comparing TBC dungeons to Vanilla and the fantasy/rpg vibe. TBC and WOTLK both have a military vibe, like you're storming enemy bases. Vanilla's dungeons are more like entering forbidden areas in search of quest items or loot. Your enemies in TBC and more so in WOTLK are enemies of your faction's mission in those areas and you and the people you group with are entering to kick their dick in. In Vanilla, it's more like you and the people with you are kicking in the entrance of an area closed off from the world to enemies that are pretty scary to accomplish goals. The tone is very different and it's not a standard RPG/Fantasy story in the same way.
      Vanilla does have its downsides though, as the trade off for that standard rpg/fantasy story are long dungeon grinds for loot that can be necessary or valuable and a pain to optimize if your goal is gearing up for end game raiding. Especially if its from a dungeon you don't like or where you need an item from the first or second boss. It's about priorities I guess, but due to the linear nature of gear progression, it becomes more tedious depending on which phase is out and the need to keep up or get left behind.

    I liked all of TBC, would have been a better idea to rate them from 1 to 10 imo. And no im not saying that with nostalgia, i genuinely had fun all across TBC, now would i want to play and experience it again? No...life goes on, so do i.

    Don't know is there are stakes at the video being this short, but you could spend more time with each entry, at least highlighting cool bosses or setpieces in the future.

    Hyjal was fun.. the 1st time. After the nostalgia wears off, it's just monotonous waves of trash and easy, forgettable bosses (other than Archimonde).

    I will brave the storm and say it. You're subjective measure of slave pens being not fun is highly offensive.
    I this essay I will argue why Slave Pens deserves fun....

    I'm sorry but you're under appreciation of the slave pens, steamvaults,underbog and SSC makes me furious! You're wrong because these are some of the best because of Naga's, Zangarmarsh and the whole stoner vibe.
    Get on our level bro.

    Lol, this guy likes Ramp & BF which look and play as interesting as abandoned soviet buildings, but hates Slave Pens & Underbog which are colourful and actually last longer than 10 minutes.
