Mr. Rich. This is an untruth. Elderly women in the Church typically have more years…..more knowledge……more wisdom….and more discernment than young ladies ABOUT how to lead Godly lives. So, CLEARLY, it has zero to do with Respect. Look it up in the Book of Titus, Mr. Rich. It is SCRIPTURAL.
Church mother is a standard bearer of holiness and wisdom for the entire church. Even without a title, a church mother has recognized spiritual authority to bring correction. It isn't a position that she takes lightly or abuses but when a church mother is operating with discretion, she can even point out something to her pastor, and he will pause, listen, and consider it because of his high regard for her.
It is strange that titles always consume black people Once a person knows what they are in Christ they should be about the business of fulfilling their obligations plain and simple Amen
I believe it is honorary and shows respect for the elder women in our local churches to call them "Mother." I don't think it should be bestowed upon just one person as though it were a position (unless there is only one in that age range in the congregation), but can be given to any number of women in the household of faith or local assembly that is worthy of the honor to be called such. It can be an honorary title as well as a symbol of wisdom, if befitting for the one(s) being nominated.

She shouldn't turn het back to her congregation and I disagree with oh my goodness I forgot her name. She is not lady elect . She's a mother also. Church mother is not a title. That's almost as bad is calling Mary mother of Jesus our Holy Mother.
