Here's our final adventure in Auckland! From the next video on, we'll show you different parts of New Zealand 😍. Missed anything? All videos are here: ruclips.net/video/75Dx0tHofvY/видео.html. Have a wonderful weekend!
Thank you for this video. So nostalgic for me. I was born and raised in Takapuna about 4-5 km north of Devonport, in the days before the harbour bridge was built. As teenagers we went to movies every Saturday night at the Victoria theatre and on most occasions walked home again afterward. In my day the ferries to Auckland were old steam engined wooden boats with the journey taking at least a half hour. Everything is too fast now. Fantastic memories. Thank you.
Those red and white mushroom things on Mt Victoria are actually air vents for an underground water-pumping station. I love that they made them into mushrooms!
Hello! local here. Great video - you found a lot of great spots! The best place to buy the transport card, the Hop Card, is at the Airport when you first arrive in NZ. Even if you just use if for the trip from the airport + a couple of trains, buses and ferries while your here, you'll save money. There's several private companies at the airport offering buses and shuttles directly into the city, but its about 1/4 of the price and nearly as quick to catch the orange 'Airport Link' bus to Puhinui Interchange, using your new Hop Card, and then catch a train into Britomart, which is in the middle of the City Centre. This bus and the trains run every 10 minutes 7 days a week.
THANK YOU---Amazing to see my hometown, Auckland, being featured. I love watching your travel vlogs. -- FYI Big red mushrooms with white dots. Actually ventilation ducts, the ‘mushrooms’ have been painted multiple times over the decades, and make an interesting site for people visiting Mt Victoria to get a view of the North Shore, town, and Rangitoto
I was born in a house about 3/4 of the way up Mount Victoria. The house is long gone now. My family was evicted from the mountain in 1942 when the army took over for coastal defence and we moved to a house close to Cheltenham beach. Went to high school in the city and served my apprenticeship in the city so I used to catch one of the old steam ferries across the harbour twice every day. I left to see the world in 1960 about a year after the harbour bridge opened and the north shore changed. Devonport was a wonderful place to grow up. Great beaches. Playing on the mountain, and fishing from the wharf. Very fond memories.
I remember that house! It was a pale green (?) Villa when I went to Devonport Primary in the early 70s. My classmate Arnold lived there. (If memory serves)
Welcome to Davonport, Auckland, New Zealand this weekend in great joy & peace to tours this amazing city in May of 2024❤❤❤Safe journeys to you guys in peace 2024❤❤❤
Beautiful country and beautiful people… Make sure you visit Central Otago region in the South Island, the most beautiful place in the World, No exaggeration. thank for sharing
Thanks guys. Beautifully presented. Renata you’re really good at it. And Gordon, you’re hilarious. Next time, don’t say you’re hungry. Say, it’s time to put the noose bag on. My hubby is Australian and he’s like you. He loves his foods. When we’re out and he’s hungry he told me, its time to put the noose bag on. Meaning time to eat. 😀😀
Fort Victoria gun caused me to check the list of visits of Russian warships to NZ in 19th century. BTW the first one was in 1820. Thanks for this video!
You are most welcome. When I think of how big Russia is, land wise, I wonder how they could even explore the Pacific ocean. But then it was probably easier for the eastern Russians to sail than to cross Siberia and the Urals.
Devonport is actually named after the English naval town of Devonport, and Eastern Devonport is called Cheltenham, named after the English town of Cheltenham 😉

Hi Renata and Gordon. I loved watching you walk around Devonport. I go there once in a while for a visit. I'm so glad the weather was good for you. As you saw life for many on the north shore of Auckland is walking along beaches and climbing over rocks. Also as kids we loved going through the tunnels at North Head. The views are spectacular on top of North Head. I'm so happy you came to NZ and enjoyed it! Btw that definitely wasn't a kiwi lol. Kiwis are like mini emus but with a long pointed beak. Very rare but making a comeback. You have to comeback again. There's much more to see.
