A Travel Walking Tour through Interlaken, the beautiful city between two Lakes
This travel walking tour video is part of a series of Switzerland vlogs in 4K Ultra HD (which also are my Switzerland travel diary) will hopefully provide some answers to these and more questions you may have: What do you go see in Switzerland and what is the Switzerland travel experience? Are you planning to travel Switzerland and are curious about what is the best travel experiences in Switzerland and what to do in the Swiss Alps? My travel diary on what to do in Switzerland in Summer will provide some inspiration.
Interlaken is one of the best places to visit in Switzerland. In this travel walking tour video I will talk a bit about my first impressions and provide some background and hopefully useful tips for your Switzerland travel to Interlaken.
Interlaken literally means 'between lakes' and refers to the geographic location of the town between Lake Brienz in the East and Lake Thun in the West. It is part of the Bernese Highlands region of the Swiss Alps and is the main gateway to the mountains and lakes of that region.
Among the main attractions of that region are the surrounding mountains and villages. Make sure you also check out my other videos on my visits to the Jungfraujoch Top of Europe, Grindelwald, Lauterbrunnen, and Gimmelwald.
Also check out my video where I am taking the funicular railway up to the Harder Kulm mountain just above Interlaken which is an amazing experience in itself. The 2-lakes viewing platform up there is spectacular!
At the town's centre, the Hoehematte Park is hard to miss. It’s a big green field just in front of the iconic Victoria-Jungfrau Grand Hotel. Just behind, you will see the beautiful Kursal Interlaken which dates back to the early last century. Today it houses a conference center and casino. The flower beets and the garden around it are just plain beautiful. At the Hoehematte you can book paragliding tandem flights and other recreational activities. Past the park you enter the shopping streets of Interlaken, situated in a nice pedestrian zone.
Also check out the old town of Interlaken with its many beautifully buildings and grand hotels. Make sure you take a stroll along the Aare river to watch the swans and ducks diving for food and cleaning their feathers.
Interlaken is also one of the best places to stay in Switzerland. The Swiss town has a large selection of hotels of various grades, many of which are located along the Höheweg.

I took the railway to Interlaken almost 50 years ago as a U.S. student. It was a beautiful place then and appears to still be so clean and nice. I must return soon !!!!

@@yurigophotography9124 if I had the choice to go again I would try to go in September. Statistically there’s less likelihood of rain and the temperatures are still very nice.

So nice! We were there in 2019. Toured Austria, Switzerland, France and Germany. Then did a river cruise to Amsterdam. Interlaken was one of our favorite cities. So beautiful! You took us back again!

Fortunate to have travelled to this marvel of nature in April 2017 and it was one of the best adventures we have had. Walk up to Thun Lake , Brienz Lake, Schilthorn, Jungfrau were amazing memories as a family. The giant viewing capsules placed in the Park wasn't there then and is a new addition. Thanks for your great video which can be rated as one of the best on Interlaken.

You did a fantastic job documenting the beauty of Interlochen, especially the color of the lakes and river. I was there in 2005 for over a week. This is a perfect place if your a woman traveling alone, extremely safe. Love your video ❤️👏

SO nice - thanks! On my one-and-only trip through Switzerland ~4 years ago, I passed by Interlaken as I went from Spiez to Meiringen where I HAD to go as I am a big Sherlock Holmes fan. I now added a future stop here at Interlaken given how you’ve captured the beauty so well.

@@lilyrosesoul0077 It’s a good question. I am doing this purely as a hobby and I’m not a full time professional traveler. Staying at home has given me more time for editing a huge backlog of videos. Right now, it doesn’t seem like a good idea to travel in the current situation with covid numbers, at least in the US and Europe, being out of control. But I hope things will change for the better and I’ll certainly look forward to traveling again as well. Until then, I’ll be posting many more videos from my previous travels 😊
