- Hey everyone back with more Scrap Mechanic Survival! Today Kosmo and I are going to build a boat to finally start travelling on the water and explore the ocean! After the overwhelming success of the ferry we figured we are expert boat builders now and should have a proper ocean exploration vehicle! @darealkosmo

Dont forget kANs experiment where he tested if pulsing the thrusters with a logic loop saves fuel, which it did, for no real performance loss. Set the thrusters on a loop to conserve fuel. Try it with the Helicopter too! Or maybe it was Scrapman that tested it.

It’s true! The spud gun was going to be mod-able! Or maybe it still is in chapter 2. I don’t remember but I know there was a devblog
I think they mentioned it in the QNA, they might do it but it’s not priority
it would be nice if they start a new scrapmech series where they make there own bases like hermit craft only problem would be lag
why did they not keep the spud-gun customizable and I love sniper rifles.
@@diamondapocalypse5019 also the fact sm doesn't have dedicated servers so someone always has to host meaning everything always has to be done in group sessions which means there's less reason to work on separate bases and everyone's episodes are always recorded at the same time so you've seen one you've seen them all, cause it's kinda weird to join someone's world just to go off and do your own thing...
You guys should make a heli pad attached to the tree house for the helicopter

They could do the same thing as they did with the rocket hammer bug with a hamster ball on the water.

For going over land, maybe add some retractable wheels? It could be a little heavy though. I don’t play too much scrap mechanic
Wheels are also buoyant

Honestly, just reduce the size. There is a lot of unused space. I don't really get scrap mechanic too but it should help reducing the size
a smaller one will really help
I think they need the weight to be distributed instead of clustered together, that's probably why it's so big ( I'm assuming )
@@themilkman3737 they can still cluster things together but need to reduce weight, if they just use 1 fuel tank instead of 3 and maybe 2 or 3 chest, they woul need less bubble blocks, so less wood to hide everything
They need a parachute backpack, and a scuba tank backpack.
how would they craft it tho? And if it’s through the dress bot then that would turn it luck based.
Axolot really should have way more coomunication with the community, and it would benefit everyone if content creators like you did actually ahve some form of contact with them
even if it was just telling you guys about updates afew days early so you guys could actually make videos about the updates to release in a timely manner
That would make kAN a community manager, and those got paid. Dont think Axolot has the resources to do that. The communication is good for an Early acces game, I have seen much worse. I rather wait for a bugfree release instead having a messy update.

And he (or any of the creators in this situation) would in effect get paid by having views and traffic driven to him from the devs
if you build a boat, and below the bubble plastic, you just put a thin layer of mesh block or another low friction block, literally the best vehicle for both sea and land travel. Nothing compared to a flyer though, as usual.
Tier 3 wood is more buoyant so that's some weight saved easily
but its absolutly horrible to look at

@@zackmetzler126 it depend who much you value the look of the build, i prefer 10 times more th look than the efficiency because i can just farm more and build other cool things, but if you don't care, because you think you can't build nice looking things, 1. try anyway you would be more happy of your build 2. if it doesn't work, make something effcient, in both case, you got better at scrap mechanic
@@aytelonne6866 i mean yeah i get that but i can build good looking things but i have a job so i can only play for like 1 hour or 2 a day so i build fast to have more time to enjoy the game
You guys should build logic into your boat to alternate the thrusters. The pulsing engines will save some gas.
Or make a paddle boat.
hey kan you and cosmo should take apart that boat and make to mini boats with small chest and a fuel can with one or two fruster each and itll use less fuel and resores.

Try putting 2/5 thrusters on a different switch for added speed if you need it. But put them on the front of the boat to even out the weight.
Also, thrusters seem to work better at pushing boat when they are out of the water. Might wanna look into that.
Devblog 13 talks about a modable spud gun, and a scrapyard tile that definitely isn’t in the game, I recommend checking it out

I would definitely say to keep the boat. I would imagine that trying to land the heli on all of those small islands would be a major pain in the rear...
I built a helicopter in my creative world and it’s surprisingly easy to fly. I’d definitely recommend it.
Kan and scrap man and kosmo should do a co op survival series all together

Wings would be so cool in survival.. They should just add it into the basegame tbh.
Probably best in using Lvl 3 wood and bubble blocks combine. I’m unfamiliar with how suspension glitches work, especially in survival so the methods I have tried on making boats aren’t precise.
But yeah I say lvl 3 wood is probably best, despite the high cost of constructing it.

10:20 , in those buildings, there is often a gold chest on the outside edge of the stair that goes up to the top of the roof. it is very easy to miss if you don't know about it
Ive been waiting for som fast paced action in this survival series
In my world, I made a catamaran and that worked well. Only had two thrusters (One in each hull) so fuel didn't disappear. Made it out of bubble with wood 3 as exterior to fend off friends bullets!
guys instead of the raft going from point A to point B what about making a cargo train going on top of a wooden train track bridge crosing the lake all the way to the ocean beach holling the vehicles that you want to hall
and there is a cargo station from tree house all the way to the beach station

Hey Kan, want to what would be the BEST IDEA EVER, I think what would be awesome is a big chinook helicopter to carry your trucks or you miners across the map.
Fuel consumption is waaaaaaay too much if you try to haul vehicles with thruster fliers... I tried with a very small metal 3 constructed vehicle.... it was disappointing 😞
@@botzmyth the heli that they have rn is decent with fuel, with the bigger chopper, the can have more fuel tanks and some backup tanks connected to them to incase they are almost to somewhere and they don't just fall out of the sky
Kan could also put floats on the bottom or side so he can land in the water
This isn't very practical because it would take more fuel to bring the vehicles there than to actually just drive them there. And where would the helicopter go once you brought it and the vehicle where you want it to be. It just doesn't seem very useful that's all
@@TheNotOfficialDub they have infinite fuel and they can connect multiple tanks to one truster, they could move many vehicles at once and it would be easier(infinite supply of fuel)
Kan i really like your vids and your survival co op series. I would really like to see you adding the FANT mod in it so you can build more crazy stuff.
Make an airboat try putting in the thrusters on a bearing and non-friction blocks on the bottom or keep the design that you guys have and try it like that
Something I would really like to see the scrap,devs add is a inventory terminal it would/could look something like an ATM/Cash,Machine and connect to your crafting/chest chain and it would show everything in storage and you could search for what your looking for. It would essentially be like the creative inventory.
I've personally found that if you point the thrusters down and at all four corners it gives the boat more lift with less drag.

Boat idea: made an aquascooter with 2 thruster and one chest. One thruster for the propulsion and the other for the turning. I use to play SM and i like yours ideas for cars or machine. Oh almost forget, very COOL timelapse!!!!

The Factorio devs, for example, do it really well, they tend to talk about the status of old things they mentioned, and they don't announce new things until they've been a while into development.
This "announcing ahead of time" stuff ain't bueno.

I think they should make it so you can change your hammer to different things, and each variant does different things. Such as:
Pickaxe: More damage to Rocks, Less damage to Trees.
Axe: More damage to Trees, Less damage to Rocks.
Heavy Hammer: More overall damage, Lower attack speed.
Light Hammer: Less overall damage, Higher attack speed.
Battle Axe or something: More damage to Robots, Less damage to resources

You can do what Scrapman does to get down; he takes a toilet, puts it on his lift, deletes the lift, and jumps in the seat.
Also imagine they made it so you can unlock a spud sniper from doing quests, then buying it at the trader with pineapples and farmers
The regular spud gun is kind of a sniper spud gun already
The normal spud gun is like a tactical rifle / hunting rifle , a spud sniper should be for one shot killing tape bots and hey-bots
The Component kits love you i never get that many from 1 building
Something that I'd like to you guys doing in your co-op survival world are some challenges somewhat similar to stuff done in Multiplayer Monday or Noob v Pro.
The challenges don't have to be complicated. It could be as simple as finding a field near where a caged farmer spawns, then building goal posts at two ends of the field and playing a game of soccer.
Or you race to reach the top of one of the giant trees with a limited number of items to work with (some blocks, maybe some pistons and bearings, etc, though no seats, since that makes climbing too easy).
Or you pick out a section of road for a race, set up a starting point and a finish line. Then you each build cars to race (most likely working with a limited set of parts; keeping limits in place will make it more manageable in survival. Hmm. Maybe you start out with nothing, then you are given one in game day to gather what you can, then you have to build with what you gathered).
Really these are only a couple of suggestions, but the options are whatever you can think up.
Guys instead of refining everything your self. Make a scoutcar with a collector and refine bot buit in (on its side for a lower point of gravity) and drive around with that.
Throw haybots spins/arms out the buildings and drive a round it.
Saves so mutch time
Hey Kan you should bulid a 2 seater fighter jet.
The front should be a gunner and back seat pilot.
I think you should make a bubble block slab (no wood) with seat, fuel storage, and thrusters (Bare minimum) to compare the speed to the 'boat'!
To increase the speed, lower the total weight.
Those chests and all that wood are killin' you guys.
The seats aren't helping either. Because water is so flat, you can replace seat functions with floor mounted sensors. You don't have to be anchored into a seat.
Angle the thrusters slightly up to bring the front end out of the water for less drag

make the boat smaller so that less blocks are in the water. The bubble block pads you added were creating drag, slowing you down.
You could make a light helicopter out of bubble blocks and other light blocks that uses the flickering thrusters that can just be one seat and island hop
They could do a hover boat, best of both worlds.
I actually just wrote a reimplementation for thrusters, which allows you to edit thrusters jn any way, it is called Low Cost Thrusters on the workshop and it reduces fuel Consumption and upgrade cost by default

Fant mod makes this game so much more fun.
You should make a box out of bubble block and hit it like you have done with the flying machine but then in water.
Bubble breaks when you hit it, same with glass and cardboard.

You should replace most of the wood on the boat with either tier 3 wood or just tons of bubble block. Maybe combination of both. Tier 3 wood on the top half and the entire bottom half just bubble block

You should make small boats that only use 1 thruster, but make one for each of you

put wheels and a motor on the boat for driving across land. could use an electric motor so it doesn't consume the fuel for the thrusters.

You guy's should try do a farm on one of the islands and see there the bot respond app...........it be a interesting outcome just to see.
you should try making the boat amphibious so you can go on land and water but have a switch or a bottom to switch it from boat to land so you can use the wheels and drive like a normal vehicle and turn the thruster off so it's not using gas in that mode then when you need to go from land to boat you can move the wheels and make them stop moving and then be able to use the thrusters again while still saving on gas

Ok here is what you do , make a jet ski using a suspension glitch to keep it from tilting and your done
the boat should use small chests since they hold more items for the space they take up
Build a hovercraft that becomes a normal car on land and turns to a hover over water. That way it might be a bit more efficient...
build a boat trailer for you to dock the boat with so you can bring it between the ocean and the base
You should make motorbikes that come out of the boat so when you board land you can go fast

Maybe start a survival mode with the Fant Mod for your next chapter

Is there any videos that show how to get two pistons to work together? I have a vehicle and wanting the blade to go down, then out and reverse. TO basically hide the saw blade until being used.
