@2changotb and it's good. Not as great as the original but it does multiple things the original could not which are worth making and experiencing even if it falls short in other categories.
A general reimagining would just be a new zelda game. And with how the zelda games are, it would be hard to call it a remake. It would probably be more different than OoT than TP even is, which is an entirely separate game. At that point they should just actually make a new zelda game in the older gameplay style. I think in this context it only makes sense to do a faithful remake with only some minor gameplay improvements, or a full new game. I don't think Nintendo is really interested in doing stuff like FF7 remake or Resident Evil 2/3 remakes.
Honestly if there was a plan for an ambitious Ocarina of Time remake in the vein of Final Fantasy VII or Resident Evil 4, I'd rather have that group be dedicated towards making an original Zelda game instead and just do upscaled ports of the 3DS versions like with Luigi's Mansion 2 and DKC Returns. I'd be fine with what's basically a vastly uprezzed OOT + MM 3DS double pack. The 3DS assets are way way better than the 3DS screen can display. Hell, they could even go the Luigi's Mansion 2 route and sell both of them separately and you know people would buy them anyway. I don't particularly want a full on modern OOT remake. The full on remake you're describing is just massive overkill for a game whose scope just can't support it. OOT treated like a 2025 game would be compared to 2025 games and be found lacking in features. OOT and MM upscaled 60 FPS versions of the 3DS games, especially if packaged together as I'd HOPE, would make sense as a lower tier launch to make those games accessible in a way better form than NSO but still low cost to Nintendo to develop. Look up some screenshots of OOT or MM 3D running on Citra in high res. It's way way prettier than you expect. There's a bunch of assets in it that are essentially impossible to see the detail in in the 3DS' 240p. They clearly expected the game to be blown up into HD at some point, so why not do that?
Honestly? With how quiet they've been, Platinum might be putting all their eggs in the Switch 2 basket. I find it hard to believe that the various teams at Platinum would NOT have something ready for Switch 2. Astral Chain 2 probably but making a more action oriented Ocarina game wouldn't be too surprising, especially after how good Bayo Origins.
I’d scream with joy if PlatinumGames had a launch title for the switch 2! Whether it’s Bayonetta 4 reveal or Astral Chain 2, I’ll take it all. Astral Chain 2 has been one of my most dreamt of games since I played the original! I can only hope they saw the potential in it enough to build on it. That’s a day ONE buy for me! I also really hope that if Bayonetta 4 is in development that they really build on the demon summoning mechanics.
KoeiTecmo Omega Force has fascinating ties to Zelda series already. While normally involved with the musous, they have worked with SquareEnix on a non-musou game, too: Dragon Quest Builders 2. Anyone who has played a DQ Builders game and has seen the Echoes of Wisdom preview videos has noticed a strong similarity in a lot of echo functions and building elements. There's some speculation that the Echoes of Wisdom developers may have even used Builders 2 as a playground to test game mechanics like stacking the beds and tables to create staircases, stacking water blocks and then swimming up them, and perhaps even more complex puzzles as seen in dungeons. I'd still find Omega Force as an unlikely partner to create a gritty, 4K accurate Ocarina of Time remake, but if it had somewhat simpler graphics and they wished to copy some gameplay elements from Echoes of Wisdom back into OoT, then they might well be a suitable match. Omega Force typically runs about four projects concurrently, and Dynasty Warriors Origins is the only one currently known (and its been that way for over a year now), leaving quite a bit of room for a Nintendo project, musou or otherwise.
Oot remake sounds insane and there’s also the possibility of Nintendo reusing remake assets to make something new like link’s awakening to EoW. I think there’s something good for Zelda coming in the first year of switch 2
If Nintendo won't do it, hand it to Grezzo. The work they did with the 3ds version was great. I love me some OG N64 version, but 3ds was truly amazing.
An Ocarina of Time remake is a huge dream game that I would love to see. I do agree that either an internal team or Tantalus makes the most since, but feel that most of their internal teams are pretty busy right now. So we shall see. Monolith Soft is interesting, but I'd love to see them do a full on The Legend of Zelda RPG where you get Link, Zelda, and the champions as party members with a crazy Monolith story to go with it. That would be so hype! 😁
Still Suprised we havnt seen a Super Metroid Remake After the Succes /anticipation for Metroid Prime 4 Even just a Simple Graphical Upgrade I would pay crazy for
Have you considered doing a video speculating on 1st party roster additions for a new Smash Bros? A lot of the decisions surrounding the 1st party newcomers are strategic in nature, it's Nintendo itself pushing some titles in the spotlight. Some for the sake of addressing Fan demand, some for promotion, some to celebrate Nintendo's history (retro reps/new franchises from the generation that just went by). I'm curious what a person like you who takes more of a strategical and statistical approach would consider. Of course, assuming the next Smash builds upon Ultimate's base rather than starting anew (which, in itself, could also be a video topic)
If we get an Ocarina remake, I think it needs to be a full recreation, the same way FF7R is handled. The game could use the same locations, but scaled up to a greater degree. Redesigned dungeons, more gameplay and QOL improvements to bring the core game to the modern area. As much as I love the original OoT, another remake deserves more than a fresh coat of paint.
If they do Remake Ocarina of Time I don't want it to be Open World, I want the art style to look similar to Twilight Princess and they should mske the map a little bigger just so it feels new.
Ocarina of Time may not be my favorite Zelda Game but it's very important to all Zelda fans and if Nintendo screws it up they better be prepared for the fan backlash because it will be bad.
Well, they have the Botw engine. If they can use it for HD remakes of Ocarina and Majora, why not? A good way to save development time and money by not creating another new Zelda engine.
I mean, obviously? The only reason the 3DS remakes still used the original N64 framework was because they cheated a bit and used the source code as a basis. In a complete reimagining from the ground up, they are going to use what is current. Style is not a factor because TP also used WW as a basis and those games are basically nothing alike.
I’d want a reimagined version of OOT that expands on all aspects of the game. It’s one of my favourite games ever and I know it so well that just going through the same game with better graphics is not very appealing, especially as the core game is relatively limited by today’s standards
i just hope they get ambitious with it, keep it in-house or get help from the best. a modern ocarina of time deserves visual grandiosity, something bold and refined. and if they expand the story, i hope they involve yoshiaki koizumi. personally i think he would be the best person to direct too, unlikely as it is.
I don't want a simple remake, I want a full scale reimagining. I want a game that builds on BOTW's mechanics in terms of the size of world, ability to climb anywhere, ability to go to dungeons in any order (well, child timeline can be in any order or adult timeline can be in any order). And I'd also like a new dungeon and new item. New towns, enlarged towns, new side quests, new secrets, etc. But yeah, still be at the core identity of OOT. Maybe they could go as far as to do that item rental system found in Link Between Worlds. I dunno, I want something more than a simple remake.
Even thought I’m not a huge anime guy, I think an anime style could really fit a remake of OoT, given that’s what’s in the art book. A remake should always attempt what the original may have wanted to do, but couldn’t as a result of technical limitations.

Even if it was the team making the current open world Zelda's. Like I dont mind waiting for a brand new Zelda if OoT is remade by that team. I'm dead serious. Wow, I’m surprised I wasn’t the only one thinking there could be an OoT remake (I hadn’t known about rumors either). My reasoning was that we likely won’t be getting a new 3D Zelda until someway middle into the Switch 2. My theory is that GREZZO and the Zelda team would collab on this. It would kinda help the core Zelda team knock some programming and visual skills for the next mainline entry, plus GREZZO could provide some manpower.

Grezzo would do it. But they already remade OoT once before. Would be a waste of their talent just to have them remake ANOTHER Zelda game let alone one they already remade in the past
Can I say something? Doesn't it really attest to how good video games were back in the day in comparison to how video games are in that people are more excited for remakes than they are new releases?
I think people are excited for new releases too but by definition it's easier to get excited about a known quantity like OoT than, say, the next Zelda at this point which is just a giant question mark. But new Mario, Zelda, Metroid, AC, Splatoon, Pikmin, Xenoblade, Fire Emblem and for that matter flat out new IP will always excite more than remakes I would think as long as the quality is as high as it has usually been in recent years.
Even though it could be awesome to have someone like Monolith Soft to do a remake of OoT, I hope they don't. They can tell very well written stories and OoTs story is very basic. If they do something in the Zelda universe I hope they do an RPG with a proper story and without Link as the main character. More like a Hyrule RPG. In general I think they should continue creating their own new worlds.
I really am not particularly interested in a Sony style high fidelity focused remake. Still, you never know Nintendo could take an approach to it that would capture my interest.
I don't see a remake happening until 2028 with the next mainline 3d game being announced for 2029 and delayed until 2030. I think it'll be a team made up of some of the main Zelda team, Grezzo members and Monolith Soft members.

@@cherubin7th This. Also, for those who use The Depths as an argument of how much new they created... well, The Depths are as barren as it gets. It's just an inverted copy of the overworld and it doesn't even have different types of terrain or weather as the surface.
Batman's cape in Arkham Asylum was worked on for 2 years.
I agree makes more sense cheaper easier and the move.
Yes Bit I Hope they fix the issues in MM then
@@geschnitztekiste4111They won't...
If they did it with the studio ghibli art style that someone did a massive video demo of with controls revamped obviously, it’d be fantastic
I also really hope that if Bayonetta 4 is in development that they really build on the demon summoning mechanics.
if its real ,it would make sense to port the 3ds remake with new hd textures and a higher resolution and framerate
I love me some OG N64 version, but 3ds was truly amazing.
extrapolating from the data, I'm anticipating good things for the 2038 remake
I’m excited about Goodfeel’s remake of OOT in 2026!!!
Amazing work. Your videos are really something special. Especially the Zelda ones. Looking forward to the next one!
Thank you!
Still Suprised we havnt seen a Super Metroid Remake
After the Succes /anticipation for Metroid Prime 4
Even just a Simple Graphical Upgrade I would pay crazy for
Have you considered doing a video speculating on 1st party roster additions for a new Smash Bros? A lot of the decisions surrounding the 1st party newcomers are strategic in nature, it's Nintendo itself pushing some titles in the spotlight. Some for the sake of addressing Fan demand, some for promotion, some to celebrate Nintendo's history (retro reps/new franchises from the generation that just went by).
I'm curious what a person like you who takes more of a strategical and statistical approach would consider.
Of course, assuming the next Smash builds upon Ultimate's base rather than starting anew (which, in itself, could also be a video topic)
Yeah your last sentence is what I was thinking. What even is the future of smash
If this is happening, they better keep Link left-handed I swear
OoT already has the perfect amount of openness. I've only recently been experimenting with doing the dungeons out of order, and it's pretty fun.
Most games don't use an original engine.
I hope not, the combat in the Switch Zeldas feels so wonky
I’d want a reimagined version of OOT that expands on all aspects of the game. It’s one of my favourite games ever and I know it so well that just going through the same game with better graphics is not very appealing, especially as the core game is relatively limited by today’s standards
Deep Purple's April inspired a lot more than the dungeon theme and I hope its in the film credits.
i just hope they get ambitious with it, keep it in-house or get help from the best. a modern ocarina of time deserves visual grandiosity, something bold and refined. and if they expand the story, i hope they involve yoshiaki koizumi. personally i think he would be the best person to direct too, unlikely as it is.
Harkinian:I wonder whats for DINNUH
NINTENDO:i reheated
I hope your monster work week was bearable.
Yes thank you!
I think a 2d side scrolling open world remake of Zelda 2 as a metroidvania type of game would be awsome.
Me when Nintendo remade OoT and MM for handheld instead of home console: "why would you do that?"
Imho grezzo is doing the remake of "a link to the past".
It's basically Link's awakening.
I really hope this game gets remade, it’s my favorite Zelda and in my top 5 favorite games ever made
I feel nintendo is allocating too much time and resources to game remasters and remakes. Hopefully the outsource it to third party. It’s not just nintendo Sony be doing this crap too “zero Dawn remastered” 🤮 I’m 23 and I feel like an old man with this stuff
It's 100% going to be remade and it makes sense to launch it around movie and Switch 2 time. November or Spring of 26, but knowing Nintendo, it wont be here until 2028.
CCs ftw! 🙌 Thank you 🙏
I’d kill for a OoT remake set in the BoTW and ToTK Hyrule. With an updated map OFC.
Ocarina needs a remake, not a port. Not because the source game is bad, but because they can expand on it so much more since it was conceived. FFVII showed what a reimagining can be, and this would be exciting
If they remake Ocarina, it'll probably adhere very closely to the original game. Nintendo remakes almost always do.
@@PikaPhantomVGI'd be happy with an ΩRAS level upgrade. Same gameplay in the same way but with new gen graphics, additional features and either postgame or added side-stories. They seem happy to do that with the pokemon series (ignoring bdsp), and we've never seen a 3d zelda _remake_ yet, so its posisble.
Regardless, whatever happens will set a precedent.
@@PikaPhantomVG yeah like Star Fox Zero, the same but not the same. I just mean Ocarina is in NSO and the 3DS version is a Port as well, so another Port would be short of what the potential there is to expand on it, not just a reskin with better graphics
@@PikaPhantomVG Eh, it is mixed. There have been some remakes of nintendo IPs that border on reimaginings.
I wouldn't use FFVII as an example since it's a sequel-reboot that relies on people having established knowledge.
Hmm...
If dimensions of proportions would remain the same, it would be possible to do highly detailed 60fps Zelda:OOT.
I know it's very much a pipe dream but more than anything I want a full.blown FF7 style remake. Maybe not THREE games but at least one big one; Cinematic cutscenes, modern 3D engine, reworked orchestral music, GOOD voice acting, the works. Made BY Nintendo EPD. Even if it was the team making the current open world Zelda's. Like I dont mind waiting for a brand new Zelda if OoT is remade by that team. I'm dead serious. OoT is my favorite game of all time and it maybe more than any other Nintendo title deserves a full blown remake made by the the most distinguished team possible where they go all out. Again, a pipe dream but a man can dream can't he? Lol
if this is true, i’d love it if they added extra content and dlc
Its time for Ura Zelda
I've been calling this as a next gen launch title for over two years now, I know its not yet confirmed but I feel like my own forecaster right now.
I’ve felt it too! It just makes sense!
If there is a oot remake happening it would be best to release it on the legend of Zelda’s 40th which is in 2026 with a twilight princess and wind waker like with Mario 3d all stars
I can confidently say that the next major Zelda 3-D game, (probably ocarina remake) will be playable only on the switch 2
I can confidently say that the "Switch 2" is in fact a gaming refrigerator .
I do want this, but I’m very skeptical about it being good. You can’t just take a perfect game and make it better. Your best hope is to stay faithful as possible while making it bigger and prettier. Truly- if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it. It won’t hurt my feelings if they don’t do this because I truly believe it may be an exercise in futility.
Nintendo to solve the problem of keeping Ocarina remake in-house while not diverting resources aaay from the upcoming console by announcing the remake as a launch title!
I’m kidding. But… what if…
Wow, I’m surprised I wasn’t the only one thinking there could be an OoT remake (I hadn’t known about rumors either).
Quite possibly, but it is likely Grezzo is entirely caught up with Echoes of Wisdom and so I don't know how available they would be for this project.
@@PolitiClank I don’t think Grezzo is the only team working on Echoes of Wisdom-the main Zelda team has to be there too. Why else would Tears of the Kingdom be as barebones as it is?
@@Level_ElevenToTK is not barebones even if you were disappointed by it
I wished for them to port the 3DS remakes(the original N64 games are already on NSO in all their high input latency, 50hz for PAL version, buggy japanese MM version-glory.), but I guess that time has more or less passed. If we are going to see a reimagining for OOT, I am honestly on board, not like either the original game or the remake are really going anywhere. I can still play them if I want to.
Grezzo was confirmed as the developer of Echoes of Wisdom....
That being said, give me either an up-resed version of the 3DS OOT & MM, OR give me a remake ala Metroid Prime Remastered, Crash Trilogy, Spyro Trilogy etc.
The 3Ds version has to be a hard pass because it’s too watered down
Every time I listen to an interview about the development of Ocarina of Time they always mention about how much features, characters and places they had to cut to make it to in time to the holidays. I really hope that if there is a remake they'll actually add all this stuff instead of respecting original "a bit too much" like they often do.
That's interesting. Have you seen any specifics of what was cut? I've seen this more discussed about in relation to Wind Waker but my impression is that anything that could have been added to that game was probably cannibalised into Twilight Princess.
@@nintendoforecastKaepora Gaebora having a split personality, ability to visit and explore the overworld after finishing the game, new dungeons, characters and story moments, etc.. We know all this thanks to Did You Know Gaming people translating a lot of old 64Dream magazines as well as different interviews, so you might want to go thru them or just check their videos, tho they have a bad thing where a lot of information is not consolidated so you'll have to watch like 10 different videos for all OoT stuff
Thank you!
They should also not remove the dark atmosphere that give it its edge because the 3Ds versions really watered everything down
I really feel like it might be one of the first launches for the switch 2.

What a week to take a break.
he said he generally doesn’t respond to rumors, as far as i remember

I'm thinking about how to do this. I often avoid rumours as they're often untrue and I think generally it's more interesting to try and think outward from Nintendo's position than try to guess from whatever the current leak is. But there is one aspect that I'm very interested in discussing.
@@nintendoforecast Thank you for replying!! I am excited to see whatever you are cooking up my friend. IMHO, you are one of the best Nintendo RUclipsrs out there.
I want something akin to the re2 remake. But something tells me they won't do that. They'll just up rez the textures but the geometry, dialogue and puzzles will be the same which is highly disappointing imo .
Its the highest rated game ever, it deserves an entire reimagining... Please Nintendo!
We need a ocarina remake but it shouldn’t be realist it should look more like an animated it would look in between the wind waker and twilight princess
NF are we going to get GameCube and Wii and DS and 3ds games on Nintendo switch online for switch 2?
Which rumors? I couldn't find anything. Seems like pure speculation.
Aonuma gave an oblique hint in the same way he hinted at Link's Awakening and Skyward Sword.

I really am not particularly interested in a Sony style high fidelity focused remake. Still, you never know Nintendo could take an approach to it that would capture my interest.

Doubt it.
I don't see a remake happening until 2028 with the next mainline 3d game being announced for 2029 and delayed until 2030. I think it'll be a team made up of some of the main Zelda team, Grezzo members and Monolith Soft members.
Instead of a remake of Ocarina of Time I’d rather Nintendo give us the option to BUY it on the switch instead of locking it behind a monthly subscription service 🙄
Skyrim came out a week after skyward sword - since then we've had two open world zeldass and the Skyrim sequel is still years away -
Zelda teams are far more focused and smaller then skyrims massive dev studio
I bought a Switch only for botw but sold it 'cause the game didn't do it for me. Only thing that'll get me back is OoT

I wouldn’t say Series S level, but close enough.

If this is true, I hope it isn’t botw art style or forced Zelda and Link ship. I liked Link just being a kid.
Imagine if From Software took this on...
Give me this. And then Nintendo can do whatever they want with Zelda after that and I won’t say shit.

Pass the blunt, bro
I'd rather have a Wind Waker Switch port.
Planning to do a video on the PalWorld lawsuit?
I'm open to it but no immediate plans. I try to avoid covering stuff just because it's news since there are other channels doing that; there needs to be some kind of original line of inquiry and I haven't figured out what that is at the present time. Also I haven't had much time to really drill into it but will do.
NF are we going to see Ni no Kuni 3 soon?
I don't know enough about Level-5 to give an informed answer on this.
what are the chances they ever combine OOT and MM in a single game?
They only really do this for very barebones ports (Pikmin 1+2, Super Mario 3D All Stars). It would make sense for the 40th in 2026 I guess but it would feel like a big missed opportunity.
@@nintendoforecast I mean a single game where the lost woods are expanded and take you to terminus. maybe even a new entry way in stone tower takes you to another part of hyrule

So wait, is there any actual substantive reason to think an OoT remake is happening? Like anything at all? Or is this just wishcasting?

Botw was the first 3d Zelda I well and truely played (with a little wind waker) and I've just never thought 3d Zelda was interesting, despite the huge love for ocorina of time
I think it was my aversion to the N64, the complicated controller and chunky muddy graphics, which lead me to feel that way
Kena Bridge of What?? lol
I dont think Nintendo will remake Ocarina of Time.
1)They already made an excellent one for the 3DS
2)They cant remake it for the Switch and not be expected to add a whole bunch of content without endangering the delicate balance of not going overboard versus a genuine updated experience of OoT.
3)If Nintendo does remake a LOZ, it will probably be Twilight Princess. Wind Waker already has one.
Ocarina of time 3D, twilight princess HD and Wind Waker HD are remasters, not remakes
I feel like OOT needs to be accessible again without being stuck on an emulator or the now old 3DS, the game has aged a lot
TP and WW will be back eventually as well for sure
Nintendo will remake oot eventually. It's known as one of the best games of all time
The 3DS remake was good, but not excellent. It ruined all the scariest parts of the game (Dead Hand and Ganon in particular) with its bright-ass cartoony graphics and removed bloodstains in multiple areas. It was, effectively, a censored remake.
Which is why I’m on the fence about another remake, it’s needed but I don’t think they’ll do it justice-it’s gonna look too cel-shaded or something, I’m calling it now.
2d games exist
Fair points although they remade Link's Awakening twice. A longer time between DX and the Switch version, I grant you .

An Ocarina of Time remake sounds like it could be cool, but if it's going to be reworked to use the Breath of the Wild formula then they can throw it directly in the garbage
Lol yeah hopefully they don't do that, I don't think they will
