- This is a video about the dog breed Petit Basset Griffon Vendeen, from the www.naturallyhappydogs.com website.
In this video, we meet the Petit Basset Griffon Vendeen.
Gavin Robertson has been involved with the breed Petit Bassett Griffon Vendeen for 25 years and judges as well as shows the them.
The long name of the breed basically describes it. Petit Bassett Griffon Vendeen literally means a small, low to the ground, rough coated dog from the Vendee region of France. The rough coat was particularly useful for their original purpose of hunting in rugged, rough terrain.
They seem to be an easy going, slightly mischievous, dog that loves to be out walking but like any hound can't always be guaranteed to come back. Животные
"Busy little dogs" -- yup! Although their energy level is much more manageable than a lot of other breeds. I have one, and he is so small that he tires himself out just by zooming around the house when I'm not able to walk him. I live in a small apartment and briefly considered a German Shepherd...that would have been interesting lol.
We have been given one. Didn't have a clue as to his breed. Took him to our groomer and she looked up PBGV AND there was our pup. Love him so very much.
Me too! I got mine in a shelter. These dogs have a definite personality!
Thank you so much for that Gavin, very interesting and informative.
Very helpful... we are pretty confident now this is the breed for us.. thank you :)
Helpful review. Thank you.
Brilliant video, Thank you Gavin, you are the expert in this breed, loved it when Jilly won Crufts best in Show ❤. My PBGV is a wonderful dog, just as you described, great temperament etc, she lives with 2 Shelties and she is the boss lol. Aimees hair gets very tangled, she goes for walks in the woods and other rough areas, so is quite high maintenance, I use a knot buster on her coat. I love the breed and hopefully will have more in the future.
Great breed & nice presentation
thank you for the information. i 've had old english sheepdogs but now i'm older looking for a smaller dog. this one sounds great
Great video, learned alot.
Beautiful
I love petit basett grifon
could you explain to me what made these dogs up and what breed and understand they come from a big breed bred down to Small Breed
I love your videos Gavin and Sarah! I got my PBGV from a shelter as a puppy. It's still a mystery where she came from but she is beautiful, just like these dogs. My dog lives on a farm and leads me to the bramble full of rabbits. She is big for a PBGV so I wonder if that is the reason she was abandoned. In any case this dog has won my heart. Forever PBGV!
Es adorable :3
I love so many dog and cat breeds it's so damn hard to choose. But I'm leaning toward a PBGV and a ragdoll cat.
How much exercise is needed for PBGV and when do the "settle down"?
Thank you for this information. Can you recommend a breeder in the US?
Très beau on dirait le mien
I have just watched this video as suggested after watching other dog ones. I googled the breed and I found out that one of his dog has just won Westminster 23? Possible? If I am right, congratulations! Lovely dogs, they have the look I am after but maybe not the best choice for city flat life.
If you could separate the Petites from the Grands from the same litter up until 1976, then why are they known for having different temperaments, different activity level, different thought process (ex. Bassets think then give chase, Petites jump at something without thinking)?
I have one VERY activ dogs. They love activities.
One of my friends has one of these
Anyone recommend a good PBGV breeder that ships?
Good breeders don't ship
@@kelleyjohnson2637 yes they do lol weirdo
There is a breeder in ontario Canada
Do they shed?
Yes but not a lot.
Ours sheds quite a bit, but we are so happy with him it isn't an issue.
How much?
Kathmandu N
Around $2,000.00 to $2,500.I’ve seen them as low as $1,500.00 to $1,800.00 (2019).
Do they slobber?
No they dont slobber. They are great dogs. I have one called Aimee, she is such a lovely temperament, so chilled and laid back in the house, when she is outside or on walks she is into everything as Gavin describes, typical of the breed. I would definitely reccomend the breed.
No not at all. They are not slobbery like a hound or st Bernard at all
@@robbo6554 is a hyperactive dog inside the house?
😀プチバセット大好き💕日本で滅多に居ません。
I want to se a PBGV, Basset, Corgi and Dachshund be crossbred for a few generations. For science!
We've got a Foxie PBGV mix
