Im having a very hard time deciding between a 2016 mustang gt automatic and a 2014 bugatti veyron super sport , the mustang is 2 years newer so i think im going with the mustang .
+Adrian Lopez You're so wrong. The new Nissan Prius isn't a turbo. It's supercharged with a factory nitrous system. Duh! The Honda Yaris is the turbo you're thinking of.
I think this episode highlights one of the things I like about Matt's style. Well spoken and not afraid to throw in a little swearing when and where appropriate. Made me chuckle.
Nice review. I drove every rear end ratio before I ordered my 2012 mustang GT. The 3.73 ratio rear end transforms the car. It is so much fun to drive and surprisingly so even on the highway where you might think the lower ratio is as problem. I found the other rations too anemic in 5 th and 6 th on the freeway.I still get 18 mpg womping the heck out of the car and it pulls like a freight train and breaks loose at will in 3 gears.
This car is amazing, I have a 2011 GT and here I am reneging and thinking about trading in. Matt says what I've been saying all these years: this is the best do it all car. Back seats, trunk, great looks, good value and can almost flip into the closest thing to a race car from the factory like that. Great Review!
I've watched just about every serious video on this car and I still feel like I learned/gained new insight from your commentary, and got a few laughs, keep up the great work
'If you wanna see the very pretty film of this car it is on drive, sorry, but I hope I explained it to a point where you don't miss out on anything.' Thank you so much Matt, huge respect.
I just picked up a 2015 GT 6MT and you're dead right on on the following points. Clutch is super numb, it's my biggest complaint about the car, although it's so much lighter that I'll still take it over my old 03. Hill start assist is overly grabby combined with the vague clutch makes it an easy car to stall. I turned off hill assist and it's much better. The suspension is a bit floaty, but for an everyday driven GT car, it's pretty damn good. For a track car, yeah going to need some suspension tweaks. It almost feels like a 335. Not as buttoned down as an M3 but still has some of that Germanic solidity about it. Like you said, it's just a really nice car.
I never comment on youtube videos, mainly because its reserved for bridge trolls. However, I really enjoy the influx in content, and the one takes are AWESOME! Keep it up TST
As someone mentioned in your other video, remove the clutch pedal assist spring to get more feel from the clutch. Pops off easily with a screwdriver and improves feel greatly.
Thanks Matt for answering all the questions before we have to ask them. I think the newest body style Stang looks soooo good but as you said they are bigger cars than you want them to be.
15 GT PP owner here. I love mine. I gave up a 500whp 2005 Mustang for this and I used to own a WRX and Focus ST. For the money you cant ask for more. You get so much for the cost. I love the way mine sounds ( on my channel).
2015 GT PP owner here too. For the money it's one of the best car you can get. For some reason people hate on the GT more then if someone had a Ferrari. I think it has something to do with it being a car that they should be able to afford but can't and is a badass car that their in denial about.
IRS is great. Ford messed around with it in the late 80s through the late 90s in the Thunderbird and Cougar. My '90 Cougar handles amazing for how much it weighs.
"If you're one of the people that's been whining about the solid real axle, well, now you have a reason to shut the fuck up" haha this is why I watch your reviews over other channels!
Im not saying you should tailgate, but if you sit back 30 car lengths, how is a guy to know they should move over and let you pass? In the same position as the SUV, I would just as easily assume you simply were content to hang behind.
krodista I'd rather give a flash of the lights or a flick of the blinker to indicate a desire to pass than to ride the guy's bumper. People get annoyed and will sit there out of spite if you tailgate them.
TheSmokingTire He's not saying tailgate him but if you come up fast and then leave about 1-2 car lengths in between you and him then maybe he'd get the hint. Plus if he does decide to be an ass and not move over then you're still in the same position you were in the video where you have to pull over and wait for him to get farther ahead.
people taking leisurely drives down these types of roads cant seriously think sports cars showing up in their rear view mirrors are doing the same. Its a more a matter of someones decision to either be nice and let you pass, or be dumb and pretend the male driver with sunglasses and a sports car isn't trying to get by.
@8:00 the delay before engine brake is a parameter adjustable by tune. The delay is there to keep the ride comfortable and for fuel economy. Adjusting the cam profile you can increase the engine brake. Most keep it that way because zero delay on that can cause an uncomfortable daily driver.
thanks matt , enjoyed that ! it is a shame TST has to play second fiddle to drive thou , still really thank full you do this for us anyways , your reviews are pollished and complete for such a short vids , cheers aye
Great review! Thanks for the info on the 3.55 rear end. That answered a question I had on the axle ratio. I'm close to getting one of these to have as a daily driver so I can keep the mileage off my 2005 F-150.
first manual car...3.73 performance package...i understand that the 3.55 would be longer at the street, but its a sports car, i love pounding on the gears and hearing my engine. Never a track driver, i got the 350r stearing wheel on my GT and its amazing.
I agree with you that the clutch is difficult to modulate. I've owned the car for two months and I'm still trying to master the clutch. My previous car was a Boxster and I could drive it to the point that passengers wouldn't even know when I shifted.
An aftermarket tune will eliminate the weird engine braking delay (maybe the FRPP tune too?). Had one on my 2011 GT and it made a huge difference. It's something to do with fuel efficiency and/or emissions.
Ford warrantied cars that snapped axles at the drag strip? That's some pretty awesome coverage. I've heard that Subaru won't cover my BRZ's issues if I take it out for track days. On another note, really awesome review. I've been waiting for a video like this to really go in depth and give me a sense for driving the car. Keep up the good work!
It's interesting that you mention the engine braking. I was reading about the TracKey option on the 2013 Boss 302 which involves using a different key to enable the option. One of the engine characteristics that gets changed when the track key is used is increased engine braking, which is achieved by the variable valve timing. Does the 2015 do the same thing with just a track mode button? That lag you described on overrun could be programmed intentionally into the variable valve mapping.
Matt, One thing about the GT clutch: us enthusiasts are finding that removing the stock clutch pedal assist spring makes a tremendous difference. I took mine off yesterday and the effort is completely linear and you can now feel the clutch engagement easily. Hopefully you'll get to drive one like that at some point. It only takes about 1 minute to remove.
Lol I remember that series when you were doing that cross country thing, and a cop pulled you over and said he's giving you a ticket for going like 2-3 miles over the limit even after he said he knew you weren't speeding.
TheSmokingTire that's just rude. in russia we have a 20 kph margin, i.e. you don't get punished for doing up to 20 kph over the limit. the reason for that is the cost of sending a happy letter from a speed camera being more than the fine. i like it very much.
The "delayed" engine braking is something inherent to some extent in any fly-by-wire throttle, something about preventing over-rich by feathering the throttle body closed. The good thing is a re-flash fixes the problem. The bad thing is you'll void your warranty.
You and thatdudeinblue are the only auto journalists I can stand to watch on youtube. Has anyone contacted you about driving a Porsche 944. I'm looking in to buying one and I would love to know your opinion.

fair review man and I largely agree with alot of what you said. I also wish the seat was a little lower and the steering could tilt lower.I'm very tall and I have to recline the seat a bit to fit with my helmet on. That said I do like that ford has the raised roof notches for taller people who plan to track the car that was really forward thinking

Me likey! I thought it would be more than 35k. But for that money and everything you get, if I was in line for a new car, this would be on the list. That black and red scheme is sick! Great video and very informative. I'm glad you mentioned that you were in track mode and sport mode as the steering wheel option. I just ordered a GT with performance package and was wondering if you left the traction control on or not during your blast up the canyon? TIA
Matt you mentioned the clutch feel on this car, is it difficult to take off from a red light without having the car shut off? Also, is the 3:55 gearing available with the performance pack?
Great to hear your thoughts on it Matt! I'm excited to hopefully hear your thoughts on the GT350 this year!
I'd rather hear YOUR thoughts and review on it

What a beautiful route.
06 gto and got a 15 GT and i TOTALLY agree with you on the clutch petal not having enough feel.
IRS is great. Ford messed around with it in the late 80s through the late 90s in the Thunderbird and Cougar. My '90 Cougar handles amazing for how much it weighs.
That color combo is amazing.

Great job Matt! I love these videos. They always make me wish I could drive in California instead of Boston. The roads aren't quite the same here...
i completely forgot these have Irs. how exciting haha cant wait to see some of these at the local track. well done Ford, well done.

8:30 "my balls are chillin'" MADE MY DAY LOL MATT
Hands down the best car reviewer on the planet.
@8:00 the delay before engine brake is a parameter adjustable by tune. The delay is there to keep the ride comfortable and for fuel economy. Adjusting the cam profile you can increase the engine brake. Most keep it that way because zero delay on that can cause an uncomfortable daily driver.

Andrew Downey It's important to play nice with the people who write your checks.
As far as the clutch, there's a spring inside the pedal you can remove that gives you great feel.
Great drive Matt! I'll stick to my lightly-modded 2012 though.
Awesome vid. Crazy though. That road is nuts way to many cliffs. Friends friend died in his Mustang a few years back. Flew off one night.
Best reviews on RUclips
Thanks for bringing up the 3.55, Brody.
That is one awesome drive. Love doing those kinds of drives.
I live the fact this new Mustang is available in the UK thank you Ford
Great video. I think a lot of people still have outdated ideas about the Mustang
Even though I hate mustangs I'm still giving it a thumbs up to support mister farah
i have to agree with what you said about the clutch. it was really hard to feel it at first but it doesnt take long the get use to it
Beautiful car
That grunt of satisfaction over the coyote at 6:10 ;)

@@m1abrams1776 damn I wish they went for that cheap in my area, performance pack base models still go in the high 20 - low $30,000 range where I'm at.

never really liked the stang but im a fan now. this car is awesome

Great review, must have been a fun drive ! Love the new Mustang

Stephen Gobbi the throttle response is improved in track mode, but no difference (to me) in the engine braking.
The track key on the Boss greatly improves engine braking, it's night and day difference. Cheers
An aftermarket tune could increase your engine braking if you really wanted it.
Matt,
One thing about the GT clutch: us enthusiasts are finding that removing the stock clutch pedal assist spring makes a tremendous difference. I took mine off yesterday and the effort is completely linear and you can now feel the clutch engagement easily. Hopefully you'll get to drive one like that at some point. That spec is beautiful
For your info: Hes driving between Red Box and Clear Creek on Hwy 2 about 10 miles from the shell gas station at the bottom in La Canada
Man, I am really thinking about the new Mustang. From your endorsement to Chris Harris's it is really on my radar.
Great video as usual, Matt!
Have you been pulled over while making these series?
Anhur Drift never while filming. I get pulled over for stupid stuff like 5-10 mph over the limit on the highway.
Lol I remember that series when you were doing that cross country thing, and a cop pulled you over and said he's giving you a ticket for going like 2-3 miles over the limit even after he said he knew you weren't speeding.

TheSmokingTire Gosh, I live like 5 minutes from the crest, wish I had a car to show off to you... one day
zloychechen5150 See in America that's how the state makes money and pays for the highways is handing out BS 5 and 10 over tickets.
Very excited to see your review of the GT350 Matt! I was happy to hear about the FP Crank. Curious to see how it compares to the GT500s and such.
The "delayed" engine braking is something inherent to some extent in any fly-by-wire throttle, something about preventing over-rich by feathering the throttle body closed.
The good thing is a re-flash fixes the problem. The bad thing is you'll void your warranty.
I am okay with Drive+ when you keep these one takes up. They are nice.
You and thatdudeinblue are the only auto journalists I can stand to watch on youtube. Has anyone contacted you about driving a Porsche 944. I'm looking in to buying one and I would love to know your opinion.
Thank you for the axle ratio recommendation.
I love how in EVERY single one of Matt Farah's videos, regardless of what he's wearing, he ALWAYS pulls back his sleeves to show off his Rolex Submariner.
Great review, Matt. I think that we come at cars the same way and notice the same types of things.
Regarding your comment on the lack of engine braking upon over-run, I'm guessing that this is something coded into the ECU/PCM. Slamming the the butterflies closed is a great way to increase the amount of NOx sent out the tail pipe. If you keep fuelling (and hence not let the engine drag out as quickly) then you avoid the extra pollutants.
That's speculation on my part; I'd expect you could ask around at Ford Corporate for confirmation. :) It'll be interesting to see if the GT350 has this trait or if it is tuned out.
Would be interesting to see the lap time differences let's say on Streets of Willow comparing the GT to an Ecoboost with a tune.
Great talk. I agree with pretty much everything you said on the IRS. Daily driving should be greatly improved with the IRS, especially if you deal with pot holes and bumps often.
Once again, an awesome take, I hope you keep 'em coming! Btw, when do we get to see your Mustang Matt? I'm really curious to see how it turned out!
Man, the Crest is looking VERY sandy. I hope it's not this bad in a few weeks. Was hoping to head up there with my bike.
Matt, that one second delay when you let off is most likely the electronic throttle.

Awesome video, Matt. I think this car with the Recaro's and PP is perfect. Too bad they are upwards of $45k with all options
There is a procedure to using line lock. It took me a while to figure it out in mine.
