    In my humble opinion both cars are winners, cause they're keeping the powerful engine in the front, rear wheel drive and manual gearbox combination alive.

      I can't agree more, but a mustang with a 4 cyl turbo TERRIBLE IDEA!

      justin driscoll A strait 4 twin turboed to make 310 hp doesn't sound too bad.

      justin driscoll There have been four cylinder Mustangs before and besides the only thing it does is increase profits so the real enthusiasts can still have their V8's.

      single turbo not twin. not saying thats a bad engine because the focus st has proven its performance. Its just seems wrong to not put a v8 in it, but hey lets see how aftermarket companies mod this combo, it will be interesting to see at least.

    Impressive! I expected the Mustang's return to be more sparkly. When it comes to the track, Chevy always seems to pick well in regards to tires. Big and sticky.

      @deadeyedickification 10 лет назад +10

      fightfanian That's interesting considering all the GT500 has to offer against the ZL1 is big engine, more power. I'd say Ford engineers are the ones worried how hard a stick will hit something.
      Did you know you can install a blower on a ZL1 that is the same size as the one on the GT500 and match it's boost level and it'll make more power than the GT500? You probably didn't. You're too busy trying to clean up all the butt hurt.

      *****
      ZL1 performance package changes pulley to make 15psi form the stock blower and makes 790hp
      if ZL1 had GT500 blower it would makes over 800hp @15psi boost

    • @justonp1981
      @justonp1981 10 лет назад +1

      Agreed. In person this thing is so tough looking! I feel like this is GM Trend!
      The GM Track Pack is $1,000 more. Which gives wider tires, more dampening, etc... For $1,000 you can get the extra power and wider rubber and dampening to gain 2 seconds on the lap time the sliver of lateral skid pad and figure eight improvement to compare with the more expensive GM Track Pack.
      Regardless we are talking about bolt on parts. The Ford is praised as having the more refined interior, size, and the overall package. The GM is accused of having a cheap interior in comparison and the less desireable size to throw around the track. Ford put their value in things that are harder for the consumer to improve themselves.

    Has anyone noticed that the 1LE Camaro here just beat the time for the new BMW M4 (and also Lexus RCF). And here there are still people that think the M4 is faster than the Corvette.
    Camaro 1LE - 1:22.81
    BMW M4 - 1:23.73
    Lexus RCF - 1:24.05
    Mustang GT Track - 1:24.32

    • @jeffwill4923
      @jeffwill4923 10 лет назад

      Problem with M4 is the instant torque of turbos. BMW didn't hold it back on that issue. Those SS tires can't put the power down in cornering. M4 is a drift machine.C&D where checking Z51 pack tires vs M4 and couldn't believe the difference at VIR.Both have SS but Vette run flats grip far greater. M4 power is very similar to Vette only comes in later in rpm.
      It nudges the Corvette at peak delivery by a few horses and some tq on dyno.
      M4 is more of a strait line car. Would be good race with DCT vs Vette Z51 with new auto.

    • @Dolby109
      @Dolby109 10 лет назад +1

      Jeffrey Williams Randy (or any experienced driver) is good at feeding the throttle. If the M4 is tail happy it is likely due to suspension setup. Maybe it could use wider rear tires as well.

    • @jeffwill4923
      @jeffwill4923 10 лет назад

      Adam S Rear chassis is very stiff. It's bolted in without bushing if I'm not mistaken.Very little flex is in the rear because this. Could be a reason but this drift machine need some R tires or Cup2 for cornering.

    • @Dolby109
      @Dolby109 10 лет назад

      Jeffrey Williams Yes a stiff rear end will make a car prone to oversteer. Despite being FWD the Fiesta ST will oversteer sometimes because they set the rear end so stiff (which is why its so fun).

    Has anyone else ever noticed that all the car comparisons so far this year and late last year between a GM product and other manufacturers, the GM products has won pretty much everything?
    2015 mustang vs camaro 1le= Camaro (GM)
    Nissan GTR vs Camaro Z28 = Camaro (GM)
    2014 Motor Trend Best Driver's Car = Camaro (GM)
    2014 Motor Trend Car of the Year = Caddillac (GM)
    2014 Cadillac CTS Vsport vs 2013 Lexus GS350 F Sport = Cadillac (GM)
    It's either GM has building some really amazing cars, or some people should start considering changing their company name to GM TREND.

    • @MorePreviews

      Lol thats actually true! Even in this video, Randy and Carlos's words sometimes contradicts each other. When they're talking about the GT on the track they mention how it's "too hard" for the road but too soft for the track. But then Randy goes on to say the 1LE has even harder suspension which is why it's better on the track... and... that is what you want for the road.

    As a Ford guy, im disappointed with the '15 GT. However, I also do not take magazine tests as official. Towards the end, Carlos says, "If the Camaro weren't here, then we would be singing the Mustangs praises." Seems like they already made up their mind with a statement like that.
    In a previous head to head when the GT500 beat the ZL1 is most tests, they gave the win to the ZL1, which was odd. But now that actually give the win to the car that won most of the tests. Flip flop, flip flop.
    Either way, im not impressed with the new GT. I will however be patient and wait to see what SVT pulls out of their butt with the GT350. Its either going to be a monster that sucks up GM products and eats them, or it will be a heavy disappointment. Either way, I gotta give it to GM for making a really nice track car like the 1LE, even though im not a GM guy. But then again, the 1LE is just a ZL1 without the blower and MRC, so its no surprise that the 1LE was slightly faster.

      i'm still really pissed off about the gt-500 vs zl1.
      Gt-500 won more tests, was more fun, and in the magazine, appeared to have more positive points than the camaro (in the article) and still lost.
      and then the hellcat one for being a gt-500 with more power -_-

    • @ShepperdOneill
      @ShepperdOneill 10 лет назад +2

      Sanic Thats where I gotta stop you. The ZL1 did not beat the GT500 in every test. If you read the MT article, it lists all the tests, and the GT500 won in 0-60, 60-0, 1/4 mile, top speed, gas mileage, faster around Laguna Seca, and the only thing the ZL1 won, was the handling portion (figure eight). The GT500 had the better results in most of the tests.

Better handling than challenger and mustangs, better feel of the engine as I take control of the streets from my hands on the steering wheel, and that sounds everyone seems to love . Man, as a Camaro guy I was hoping the 2015 Mustang would wreck the Camaro. I like the competition and it's important to drive all automobile manufacturers to improve on their vehicles more and more.
    To be honest though, the only reason the Mustang lost is because it's Performance Package is a rip off... If you bought the stock GT and did your own customization and put some better tires and suspension on it I'm sure it'll be right up there with the 1LE.
    Biggest issue you run into with the Mustang though is that wheelbase. The Camaro is still very low and wide and the Mustang has a lot more body roll.
    Can't wait to see what Shelby does with this thing, hope it blows me away.

      I've wanted to see a mustang built like a z/28 for a while now. The Boss was the one that came the closest. I really wish ford would stop skimping on things like brakes and tires and factory suspensions and just build the car right the first time. I've also been wondering why haven't they built a real corvette killer yet? Here's what bugs me about this comparison, I'm a Ford guy, but Chevy got it right. They delivered a purpose built track car that is relatively affordable. They got it. Straight line performance is too one dimensional for today's market. Ford has this phenomenal engine and they keep missing the mark on the chassis. Make it stick in the turns. The technology is there, but I think Ford doesn't really care at the moment. It's like they gave us the IRS just to keep us quiet. I'm still on the fence about the looks too.

      u said gm delivered purpose built track - ye they did, but that mustang is not its competitor
      last generation GT compeat with ss,1le with boss302,gt500 with zl1 and all was right in the world
      that irs is all all ready over 3 sec faster on this track with same driver than last generation

      For the moment, the car that Ford gave for the test is the closest they can get to the 1LE. Ford has not built, nor have they mentioned building, another Boss 302 (which by the way, was much more expensive than the 1LE). As I said in my original post, Ford doesn't really seem to care at the moment.

      ***** you, sir, have not driven a camaro ss 1le. These cars cost about 40000.00$ but also feel like 40000.00$. Compared to the gt on a track...no comparison. The 1le doesn't really even feel like a camaro on the track! It feels like a smooth roller-coaster ride that you get to control....very track designed but full of forgiveness. .

    Well. I'm definitely disappointed that the Mustang didn't do better against the Camaro. Having said that, I think the disparity in performance isn't necessarily a mark against the Mustang as much as a pat on the back to GM. Track numbers aside, I can think of plenty of reasons I'd much rather have the Mustang in my garage, but that's just a matter of personal preference. Dear MotorTrend: this is hands down one of THE BEST comparisons of two cars I've ever seen, and certainly the best Head 2 Head episode you've done. It was a little bit of everything. Raw track data, driving impressions both on and off the track, and finally an awesome real-time split-screen comparison of one complete lap. Simply awesome. I really came away feeling like I learned something tangible today. Thank you!!!

      Agreed, i'm a chevy guy but I do still like mustangs mainly the 60s gt fastback mustangs. the track data backs up what the presenters have said. the camaro has better brakes than the mustang decelerating faster into corners.The camaro has better suspension resulting in more corner grip allowing it to take corners faster. it has consistently higher corner mph than the mustang, especially in the second to last corner. The camaro's low to mid range torque helps it accelerate out of corners faster but then the mustang counters with more mid to high range HP so as was said their straight line speed is almost identical with the mustang being slightly faster in the quarter mile due to gearing and a higher power band. I would still buy a camaro but I certainly wouldnt say no if some one gave me this mustang. all in all great test and video and go Chevy!

      will snyder Tires are the biggest difference between these two cars. Mustang needs a couple section widths wider front and back, with probably a 305 in the back, judging by the way it gets loose. Camaros front tire width and compound is a huge part of the braking difference as well, six piston brembos on 15 inch rotors, stopping 3800 lbs in 107 feet? That means the Mustang definitely has a ferocious set of brakes already, it just needs more rubber on the ground to take more advantage of them.

      Tech4Dummies Both are probably still coming from the factory with those crappy Pirelli P Zero tires. First thing to do with a stock Mustang or Camaro is replace those worthless things with better tires and sell the Pirellis to somebody's grandma. I swear GM and Ford must be getting those things damn near for free to keep putting that crap on their high performance cars.

      ***** Yeah my rear pzeros were trashed on my '13 5.0 at 10k miles. Wear-marker city. I bought some Falken Fk453's, traction is just as good but they're $100+ cheaper per tire. They're still back there with 25k miles on it now. Bout ready to be replaced, but still, 15k miles of hard street abuse ain't bad for a relatively sticky (and cheap) summer tire that has good grip/traction and a 186 mph speed rating. The Pirellis aren't that bad but definitely not worth anywhere close to $330 a tire for a 255/40-19.

    I'm a mustang guy...for many years, but I don't know how anyone can say the Camaro is "ugly." That car is totally badass looking. It actually comes from the factory with proper wheels/tires that look awesome and have proper offsets, while Ford as usual chose to go with a Wally Wagon setup. The Ford's interior is definitely nicer, and the visibility is obviously much better, but other then that, the Camaro wins this, and at a MUCH lower price. Not only do Mustang buyers pay a higher price up front but then have to pony up (no pun intended) another couple grand for proper wheels/tires & even more aggressive dampers. Bottom line: The Camaro comes turn-key, the mustang you need to invest a lot more into on top of the higher price tag. You'll then have the better car but at a much higher cost + time.

      i like how you put it kevin coming from a camaro guy. the mustang is faster in a straight line but cornering its got nothing really. i feel bad for you ford guys cuz i actually thought they was gonna come out with this track monster with like 450hp and outhandle and outperform our chevy cars. but really they slacked off made it heavier nice interior tho....but only faster by .1 tenth? brakes are a huge concern for me anyways and the suspension needs alot of improving still.......how much time will 1 need lol? a camaro is ready to race right away no excuses or anything. now just imagine a hennesy700 upgraded camaro SS. check out there site and cars you may like them. i think they do mustangs too?

    • @kevinbreese5739
      @kevinbreese5739 10 лет назад +1

      Ok I'm going to have to retract from initial comment a bit. After posting it I did a "build and price" with the Camaro and it's not any less expensive. In fact it's actually more expensive. The only reason the Ford is more expensive in this comparo is because the Mustang is loaded up with all the options including recaro's, while the Camaro is not. Building a GT premium as I would want it came out about $1000 less than the price of the Camaro SS as I would want it. Add in Ford X-pricing and it's quite a bit less expensive than the Camaro to the point of more then offsetting the cost of new wheels/tires (after selling the stock ones). At that point I think they both look equally nice on the exterior. But looking back at the interiors, there really is a HUGE difference in my opinion. I'm not sure I could ever get past that camaro interior, whereas I think the new mustangs interior is superb. Definitely a place I would enjoy being as opposed to sitting in the Camaro which would be a matter of tolerating it. For starters, those generic chevy steering wheels…uggh. The only advantage the Camaro would have then is a slight handling advantage. But that can be remedied without too much difficulty or expense. It would already be partially offset with more aggressive wheels/tires. Plus some people may actually prefer the softer ride quality of the Mustang. After all, not everyone goes to the track. Either way it's not too difficult to change. While on the other hand, the Camaro's interior you can't do much about it. There's also the better visibility of the Ford and I personally like the Mustang heritage and name better too. Plus it's still is lighter and bit quicker as well. All Said and done I have to go back and give the edge to the Mustang. Both however are great sports/muscle cars. To each their own.

But with how Ford has done their 5.0 DOHC 32 valve, it's just hard to say no. If Chevy did a DOHC instead of their OHC, then they would get more power and more people would go looking for one. This is the results on this day with Motortrend . In these mean streets , owner skill and traction may present another outcome. I am not hurt by the results @ all , you win some lose some . Hear me out though ......The SS1LE has many changes that became available due to the ZL-1 suspension work & wheels. The 2015 Mustang is not utilizing the Shelby GT500 pieces and wheels . brakes etc . I am let down by the output as well of the mustang being that the 2012-'13 Boss 302 was under-rated @ 444 hp and 380 lb-ft . The 2016 Camaro will probably use the LT-1 and it has shown to be a BEAST in the Stingray Corvette and Ford will be playing catch-up in my opinion.

    saying engine size isn't fair is a load of crap. HP is HP no matter what! GM is proving once again the engine doesn't hardly matter at all. they build AROUND what they already have. the Ford 5.2 is a decent motor sure. the GT350R beat the Z in the ring by like what... 5 seconds? lol the Z did it in wet pavement and has already been stated that the Z can easily achieve a 7:34 on the ring. so that would make the GT350R with it's special flat crank 5.2 that has 50 more HP only 2 seconds faster around the ring. if I'm not mistaken that 350R hasn't beaten the Z in a race yet! got beat on its debut race by none other than the Z28. AND GM is gonna be making another one with this new platform of camaro? lol yeah... it's about to get real.

The only thing Ford is doing is ensuring that any new model performance track capable camaro is gonna beat it if Ford keeps producing bigger and badder mustangs before GM releases anything to match it. • @ITRIEDEL
      @ITRIEDEL 10 лет назад

      I feel like my 5.0 was quicker in straight line but I think that's because the softer suspension on the 5.0 plus the 1LE has a taller transmission ratio. The handling doesn't even make sense on the 1LE. The car is so big, but it handles like no car I've ever owned. I've had imports like Nissan Spec V's to Corvettes and the 1LE takes the crown for handling. The 1LE also looks so sinister. I always get looks and thumbs up. If you get a Camaro, don't buy it without the 1LE box checked. Totally worth the. 3500. I'm going to lower it an inch in a few weeks.

      I personally prefer the 05-07 mustangs the most. That style pays more tribute to the older 66-69 version which happens to be my favorite.
      The Camaro seems to have parts borrowed from the C7 which is why it is more practical on the track.

    Much bigger, stickier tires, stiffer springs/shocks, no surprise the Camaro 1LE wins on a road course. The Mustang now has a better chance to equal whatever GMs equips the Camaro with, just a matter of Ford electing to put super stiff spring/shocks and expensive, wider and stickier tires. The platforms of each are now on equal footing, just a matter of Ford wanting to "extreme" the regular GT or just making the upcoming GT350 the all around extreme Mustang. Should be interesting to see what both manufacturers have up their sleeves......

      All the deficiencies you're pointing to (tires size/springs) were well known to Ford before the car was released, if it doesn't stack up, its Ford's fault, not some unanticipated advantage for the Camaro.

    • @VoltLover00
      @VoltLover00 10 лет назад +6

      1LE is the performace package for the Camaro SS, and they tested it against the performace package for the Mustang GT. If Ford's performance package doesn't measure up (its inferior), its Ford's fault. The 1LE package isn't new for 2015, its been around, Ford knew what they were up against. Its a valid comparison of the equivalent packages from the manufacturers.

And while I wouldn't pick the Mustang GT over an SS (Because i just like the looks of the Camaro better) I am very impressed with how Ford did with the 2015 redesign. Especially FINALLY getting rid of that solid axle. I mean they did it on the 03/04 Cobra so they knew HOW to use one. I'm just surprised it took them so long to roll it into the main line. Honestly you can't go wrong with either car these days. The 5th Gen SS was an excellent car. The only reason I'm not still driving one is I upgraded to the ZL1.

    I think the main point in this video that most people are missing is that the GT performance package is just that a PERFORMANCE PACKAGE not a "track package" as he listed the upgrades from it it just seemed really drag strip oriented which, in my personal opinion is what you buy a muscle car for. The 1LE package, lets be honest it's for track type racing. In fact the entire car is oriented towards the track due to things like "flying car mode" even as rediculous as it sounds it's very good for bumpy tracks whereas the GT has line-lock, this feature to me screams "IM A DRAG CAR".

  • @Honest_Elk

  • @Trades46
    @Trades46 10 лет назад +14

    It feels like a different engineering philosophy; the SS 1LE is obviously derived from the GT3-esque Z28. Chevrolet spent a big budget developing that car and the results are very good.
    The Mustang Performance pack feels like a standard 5.0 GT with a hint of extras. It wasn't derived from a GT500 or the Boss 302, which probably gives it a more street oriented character than that of the Camaro 1LE.
    Apples to Oranges; should have compared the SS & GT in base model form, or waited for a new Boss Mustang.

      I have a sneaking suspicion Ford 'tweaked' a "time attack car" vs. the Boss 302 or just marketing stepped in and softened up the "Performance Pack" because they believe people will buy it because they are trying to compensate for 'something' then later b**** about the ride & harshness to afterwards.

It does in every other auto journalists book.

    • @notasolution
      @notasolution 10 лет назад +4

      ***** fair enough. But I agree, alright the camaro performance pack is a better track car but chevys completely missing the point. First of all, the mustang and camaro are only supposed to be good in a straight line, thats theyre heritage. Its great if they can do both straight line performance (which the mustang wins at) and still be a track car but it also needs to be a daily driver which the camaro would be quite difficult and uncomfortable to have as. People dont think of camaros and mustangs when they want a track car, lmao. Chevy is just in the wrong ballpark. The Mustang on the other hand covers all the bases with styling, performance and actual practicality that you could easily use a daily driver and yet have some fun and use it as a toy (that will out perform the camaro) whenever you want which is why the Mustang is the better car. The Mustang is better, Ford actually made a predecessor that goes back to the original mustangs heritage and yet can do everything right. The camaros chevys attempt at a scion frs with an engine swap, its not what the cars supposed to be lmao. in my book and im sure in numbers quite soon, Ford won.

      Ron LHeureux being the best track car and being the best drivers car are two completely different things Ron. Chances are if youre strictly a track car, you cant be the best drivers car, strictly track cars are unpracticle, uncomfortable and pretty much undesirable. You might think its the best drivers car but you cant drive it for more than 15 minutes.

    • @ronlheureux7623
      @ronlheureux7623 10 лет назад +4

      If you ever watch one of the many heads up reviews on a variety of internet automotive sites, the you would know that the Camaro SS is the better street driving car. Things like flat cornering without under or oversteer matter even on the street. Stability and predictability are desirable in either circumstance. I think you should find Randy Probts driving impressions while behind the wheel of a Z/28 on the Laguna Seca raceway. Your opinion will be changed. Camaros are much more predictable than any Mustang. That includes the Shelby 500. That car took much, much more effort to handle turn. It was faster in the straight, though the brakes began fading in no time. The Camaro has zero brake fading issues. In the end, the track time for both was nearly the same. Bottom line: The Camaro required far less effort, particularly in turns. The 500's HP advantage helped it overall.

      When the bankers crashed the economy, they bought ford's name and refused to loan money to GM or chrysler, why cause they had ford's name, so they wanted to put ALL OTHER AMERICAN MANUFACTURERS OUT OF BUSINESS and make tons of money from ford's name

    • @Digiphex
      @Digiphex 10 лет назад

      ihatecrackhead Well, first of all, bankers do not print money. Secondly, there were no bankers that crashed any economy, it was the socialist policies which forced banks to give loans to people who couldn't make payments and had no business in a house. Then government ratholes like Fannie Mae sold those bad loans and "securitized" them. Accompanied by the Fed holding interest rates artificially low, this crashed the economy.
      Getting back to the subject of cars, Ford did not take the bailout money and GM did. It was my money that I worked hard for, 50 billion all told. Any company that makes the Pontiac Aztec SHOULD go bankrupt.

    Lets do some basic math for the base models plus the track packs.
    Mustang GT Camaro SS
    Base price: 32,925 38,000
    track pack +2,500 +3,500
    Total 35,425 41,500
    That' a difference of $5,075 and that's a lot if you consider how much better the Camaro performs against the Mustang. Look at the times. It's only a second and a half faster around the track(1.51s). If you put some stickier tires on the stang it will close that gap and possible overtake the Camaro. The Mustang has major points over the Camaro and yet they give the Camaro the win based on 1.51s. Yes, I am a Mustang fan, but I still feel that it is the better car. It is cheaper, less displacement more power, better interior, better visibility, more comfort. It just seems like the better car to me. The only thing else that I can say is that it depends on what you prefer because if you prefer performance then you can go either way, but if you prefer a better driver's car then you obviously have to go with the Mustang.

      Umm, if you did careful research the actual base price for the 2015 Camaro SS is $33,505+$3,500 for the track pack to make the TOTAL PRICE $38,000. And now to the tired tire issue again. Again, more research will show that the Mustang wears Pirelli Pzeros (Max performance Summer tires) against the Camaro's Goodyear Supereagle G2s. They are in the same class of tire performance. Where the Mustang falters is the suspension setup and the (yet again) annual weak brakes, not the tires. So now you see the price difference is around $2,500. It's fine be a fan of either car, but . . . facts not feelings. And just my opinion here. . . if you prefer a better RIDER's car then yes go the mustang, but if you prefer a better DRIVER's car, the 1LE all the way. It's kinda why a Camaro won the best Driver's Car for 2014.

    As someone who ordered a 2015 Mustang GT with track pack and red interior, this review is disappointing. I was expecting it to handle great, not understeer and bounce around. My expectations were to high it seems, however Ford marketing did really "hype" this car up with a ton of claims including that it would beat a boss on the track; and there is nothing comparable when it comes down to performance for the price. I may still get the Mustang, but the nostalgia of it all has suddenly disappeared. I don't like the Camaro for some reason, it is an unusual feeling of dislike and disgust I have towards that car for some reason. Right now I was wishing I had enough money to be able to afford cars slightly pricier than these two like :
    -Base V6 f-type coupe.
    -BMW M3/4
    -Mercedes C63 AMG coupe
    - Mercedes CLA45 AMG (maybe)

      Look you really have to understand how these reviews go and pay attention to what they really say, I don't think this comparison was really fair they took basically a 1LE SS on steroids with all these loaded up track options and ran it against a Mustang GT with the track pak option which is not much to write home about, when compared to the options on the Camaro with a thousand dollars more in parts add on mind you , not to mention all the loaded up heavy options they added to the mustang this is not truly a track worthy contender to even compete with the Boss 302 which mind you was scaled down and didn't have as nearly as many options as one of these so called GT's come with, be glad you're purchasing a 2015 Mustang GT... Just wait for a real comparison between the 2 cars I'm talking base GT and base SS trust me the out come will be different... And this is coming from a happy 2012 mustang 5.0 owner Cheers...

      Price as tested: the mustang was more expensive by 5k....the biggest disappointment about the new mustang is the increase in weight. How is the mustang going to compete with Camaro when it was been completely remodeled and can't beat the Camaro in its current form? Realistically, the mustang with its redesign should have easily beat the Camaro in nearly every category. The Camaro is about to get a new, supposedly lighter chassis. I'm sure ford will have to hit the drawing board sooner than they think

      OFF2theGYM No the performance pack for the mustang is cheaper. The overall cost of the mustang that they tested was 5k more because they had all the stuff like premium interior, and probably all the other options. I customized a 2015 mustang on the ford website and did it with just the track pack and a few other options and it was under 40k

      Alex Connor it would beat it in every category if it wasnt for GM suddenly putting race tires on everything to get a slight edge on the stang. those tires cost a lot and need constant replacing due to being soft youll spend thousands more over the life of the car just to slightly edge out a stang.

      Todd Oliver I professionally detail cars for a living. When door panels pop off doors in the new Malibu's and glove boxes fall off when they open on new Chevy Cruze's it starts to speak for itself. That's just my opinion.

      ihatecrackhead Um the only supercars that makes over 1000hp are the Bugatti Veyron Super Sport and the Koenigsegg Agera and Koenigsegg One:1. If you think those use an LS engine you are terribly mistaken. Also, if you are thinking in layman's terms, the NHRA dragsters use a modified Chrysler elephant engine and make over 4000hp. Again not an LS engine. But please do give me some examples as I seriously have no idea what supercars make over 1000hp and use and LS engine. And how is something engineered by Germans necessarily a bad thing? Any American car these days isn't really American anymore. Ford is mostly European now, GM is mostly Canadian and Mexican, and Chrysler is just confused.

    Europeans always ridicule Americans for driving mainly automatics but they fail to realize that OUR sports cars still have manuals, unlike a lot of theirs.
    Also, while you would think these cars would mash up, technically they don't. Yeah sure they are both performance packs, but as Randy said, "This 1LE is basically a z/28 that's not as fast". A better comparison would be a Boss 302 if they ever make another one.. I'm what most of you muscle car guys would call a ricer(I drive a pretty fucking low FRS), and if someone told me to pick one of these, I couldn't. The mustang seems like the way better option for a daily car, but if you're a track junkie I would go with the camaro. Aesthetically the mustang look much better from the back and from the side. Kind of iffy about those headlights. Lol maybe the after market will fix that eye sore. But from the front the camaro is so much more pissed off looking, so mean specially with the white body and the black/cf? Hood. Don't know much about mustangs or camaros, but I always hear about 5.0 guys making some serious power gains with just basic bolt ons. Idk, I'm leaning more towards the mustang on this one.

    Everyone complaining the the Camaro's tires from the ZL1 gave it an unfair advantage, yada yada yada, no, not at all.
    Motor Trend was comparing two cars that were spec'd equally from the manufacturer. If Ford does not give the GT adequate tires, that is Ford's fault and problem, not Motor Trend's. Motor Trend is testing the cars as they came from the manufacturer. If Ford drops the ball, then that is why they lost.
    In testing two performance cars, the Camaro wins based on the advantage given to it by Chevrolet.

    • @AmateurProf
      @AmateurProf 10 лет назад

      Although your English is terrible, I will still correct your errors.
      The SS and the GT are the equivalent cars, the Camaro had its 1LE package and the Mustang had its equivalent, therefore, the cars were matched as evenly as possible by their manufactures. You say "normal ss lost to even last mustang model," I say, prove it kid, you talk a lot.
      Even if themustang have different targets, you saw the tests in this video, overall the Camaro was better everywhere. The fact that you say the Mustang is a "roud" car is irrelevant, because they tested the cars on a ROAD COURSE. Therefore, as you say, the mustang is set up as a road car, and the camaro as a track car, the camaro still one on the road course. The Boss 302 is Ford's attemp to compete with the ZL1, so there is no room for that argument here.
      Class dismissed.

Of course, it puts a smile every time someone does that but most of the times people would be driving in the city, to work, for shopping etc and then, you would want to be in car with better interiors and decent equipment. I really don't understand why Camaro sticks to that cheap claustrophobic interiors and hope they change it soon. But for now for all practical purposes, I think Mustang is the best bet. This years Camaro and Mustang is all about personal preference. If you really think stock times matter then you aren't a real sports car person. If your mustang or camaro stays stock for longer than a month your doing it wrong. I could buy that stang buy some nicer tires, and 1 bolt on and be faster than the camaro in every category, that is how close it is. Hell i may not even need the bolt on, the tested tired on the stang are not as good as the camaros.
      To me the Mustang wins mostly because the interior. It is so much nicer inside and you can actually see out of it! The Camaro feels cheap. You cant see shit out of the small windshield and the A pillars are massive! Not a good combo for a car your doing 100+ on the track in.
      Seriously though, the people who get all mad and verbally assault others over track time are just sad. It is all about having fun with what you choose and respecting others choices.

    Wow, a little surprised and disappointed that the fully loaded Mustang weighed almost as much as the Camaro and was almost 5K more expensive. I think a smart buyer should probably wait a year or two and/or buy a stripped down 5.0 and head to the aftermarket for suspension. I believe Ford engineers said their benchmark was the Boss 302 and they exceeded it. Doesn't appear so based on the review, at least regarding driving dynamics. Also, I hear wheel-hop is an issue with the new IRS at the strip. It is the first year of the design, however, and, if I recall, Motor Trend had similar complaints with the Camaro when it was first re-released. GM has been refining year by year and now we have the 1LE and Z/28 as a result. It will be interesting to see what Ford does with the upcoming GT350. Maybe they'll actually release the Nurburgring lap times this time.

      Chevy made the Camaro, just to compete with the Mustang, as lewd as it sounds, a pony car competing with a muscle car. Don't get me wrong, I like both cars as much, but I did find something about news reporters asking what a "Camaro" is when it was 1st announced, they replied (idk, GM or Chevy) something along the lines "A Camaro is an insect, that eats Mustangs". They were competing back then, but it wasn't as obsurd as it is today.

      The sad thing is that FORD when benchmarking and tuning their new Mustang made a specific choice to not compare and test it against the Camaro. Why? Either they have their head in the sand or are trying to down play the performance advantage of Chevy, in both case they are losing face and the battle. Sad. Let me ask Ford, did you really think because you've decided that the New Mustang was in another league then the Camaro that 50 years of Magazine comparisons would stop? nice dream, welcome to the reality.

Drifting applications here we come! I can't wait to see Von Gittin Jr put one of these babies out in the drift course! If you're a camaro fan or a mustang fan and some of you are cheering and others whining because these guys picked the camaro... it's all about perspective people. If this video had been done on a drift course, guess which car would have won lol. Stop being so butt-hurt.
    Also, last I checked, most of these cars will not be bought by professional racers, but everyday average Joes that will race from light to light and both cars perform basically the same in the straight line 0-60; 1/4 mile.

    Gm hasnt stepped up there game. They just come out with alot of cars at once. Thats why there beating most cars. The gt350 and the new shelby hasnt come out. Thats whats going to change america perspective about ford. The gt could of definitely done better but i think it was just the tires that it had in this video that needed a change. Most of what i can say is that if you buy a gm vehicle you wont be as happy as if you were to buy a ford. Gm has more expensive vehicles that aren't worth the money such as gmc vehicles. Just go to ford and buy a luxurious vehicle for thousands less. The mustang always dominates the camaro. Gm is just scared that ford will come up with something better. Thats why there always making cars left and right. The camaro just came out this year. Now there making another for 2016. That proves that they cant hold their game.

I've never driven one but I've always been a chevy fan and loved the Camaro especially. however, my girlfriend drives a 2014 mustang and although it's a v6 I have to admit I really like it. it's really glued down, doesn't roll around corners and it just feels stable and planted. I love the ride for sure but there are some interior nitpicks I have but it's overall really nice. I still love camaros mucb more, but I have come to admit, mustangs ain't bad

    • @JohnnyWrong
      @JohnnyWrong 10 лет назад +1

      fabulousprofound Sure, it's possible. Plenty of massive cars on the roads in the UK. Insurance wouldn't be cheap, and neither would fuel costs. I'm mainly concerned about the LHD, though, as having the wheel on the correct side is pretty important with a performance car.
