Long overdue on this video honestly. Time for me to spread the love of T.Hawk to everyone! I am known as a T.Hawk supporter and consider this a stealth way for me to cast a vote for T.Hawk for Street Fighter 6. He's big, he slams people around, for a lot of people that's enough to love a guy but i will also go into some of his cool bits of tech that make him super unique and unlike anyone else in Street Fighter. The tech shown for SF2 and SF4 is just a drip in a raging river but it should give you an idea on why I think T.Hawk is so cool! T.HAWK FOR STREET FIGHTER 6!!! *edit* also give a like on the vid for T.hawk, he deserves it :)
Back in the day, me and my friend would have constant T.Hawk vs Zangief match-ups and I would usually have T.Hawk. So yeah he is great, although I don't think he was so good in Alpha 3, my mate would usually come out on top in those games.
My little sister was a T Hawk main. She would always get so excited seeing me play and ask to join, especially when my fiends were over. She absolutely destroyed my buddy who went to locals with her “button smashing” technique. I’ll never forget that. Rest In Peace Katie. Every time I win in street fighter I dedicate it to you.

T.Hawk's U2 in SFIV is still one of my favorite super animations. It's a shame it was tied to such an obnoxious input while Hugo had a similar Ultra with not only an easier input but better hitbox too.
Yeah the input was jacked. When a move is designed to be reactionary, giving it one of the most hated inputs of all time in double half circle isn't exactly a smart play.
They're both rainbow trajectories, Hugo's is lower. He can miss obvious jump ins if they're at the apex of the jump, can be annoying. He can however snatch that ass from full screen if you decide to jump back for whatever reason.

I think big guys are cool when they're not just a walking lard of muscle/fat, they should have something more going for them, some other aesthetic, like crusader, he's big and hes a priest, those two combined i think make for a dope ass character design
I think snk does this really well, shermie, yashiro, Ramon, vice, just to name a few are really cool grapplers. Kof's core game mechanics make grappler more fun I think because of the universal mobility options
Of course Rooflemonger loves the big grappler that makes opponents go speen with cool moves. But the tech backstory he's had is of course excellently articulated and easy to grasp, as always.
I mained Hawk in 4, and got in the top 100 Hawk players on Steam. There are so many tricks people just aren't ready for. The face grab animation never got old.

However speaking as someone with Native American ancestry(and Ukrainian too! I am an odd mix) I think its fine. Not all stereotypes are harmful and SF2 specifically the majority of the cast are stereotypes cause that's just how the 90s was and there was never any malice intended. I do hope if T.Hawk ever comes back though they do something more with his Mexican heritage and give him a look more appropriate of Mexican indigenous peoples though. Play up his Mexican background! And also still have him be huge and slam around people smaller and weaker than him.

Its an attempt to be diverse(which is good!) as a lot of fighters in the early 90s had north american indigenous representation, just they were all stereotypical cause they didn't know any better.
A specific group of people complain about stereotypes and that same group also complains about representation in media. If you are going to try and represent a whole population with 1 character, you will inevitably hit upon some stereotypes. If you don't, then you are likely not representing the people as well as you think you are. I am Puerto Rican 100%. My ancestry is Taino and Corsican. I live in Texas and play with a lot of Mexicans of native ancestry (native american, aztec, inca, and others) and pretty much all of them have a pocket T Hawk because they enjoy his design.
Same, I'm black and have NA ancestry as well, and never thought of him as that bad. Hell I'd say Dee Jay is worse and HE'S not even that bad either lol. The weird thing is his design because he's supposed to be Mexican but the lore indicates that he was in America and got driven to Mexico.
I need to say thank you for giving me a lecture on this character, I always thought he was bland but I never knew he was a grapler, I never knew he was such an interesting character, but dude looking at all the stuff he represents, his options and origin man, he’s sooooo cool
I always liked T. Hawk and thought it was laughable that people just wrote him off as an offensive Native American stereotype (speaking as someone who has Native ancestry himself and was proud to see a halfway decent character from that culture) when his only stereotypical trait is a couple aspects of how he looks. These people better steer clear of Nightwolf then. Anyway.....he was my favorite character in SSFIV, I got a lot of BP just using him and tick throwing endlessly. People didn't know how to react to him. I was hoping maybe he'd be in SFV but he might not have worked so well with the way the game worked. I didn't use him too much in the SSF2 games, but I feared when my friend would pick him. I always liked his story too, especially in A3 and his relationship with Juli. He wasn't so good to play in that game (seriously, wtf is with that stupid Canyon Splitter super), but I still used him sometimes. If SF6 goes back to a more even style of play, I hope Hawk comes back.
You might have just convinced me to join the T. Hawk army. This tech sounds straight up evil, especially the negative edge in ST and the jump down medium punch in SF4. I need to try and learn some of this crazy tech.
T Hawk was my SFIV main, I got that he wasnt exactly strong but I enjoyed playing him, it was usually really intense trying to get up close and create your openings. So much fun to be had with the light spd! And his U2 was easily the most satisfying ultra to land in the entire game.
I'm mostly Mexican so I always thought it was cool to see some Mexican representation in Street Fighter, as it's my favorite game. I do hope if he's brought back they play up some more of his Mexican side and maybe balance it out with his Native side. Either way he's awesome and videos like this are long overdue!

It is a mixed country and also a country of immigrants. Many people in Northern Mexico could look like T Hawk many could be black, white, indigenous. We come in all colors shapes and sizes

Always loved T.Hawk simply because of the way he slams you on the ground with all his power...but those gimmicks he has surely seem fun,first time hearing about it.
I had SSF2 (non-Turbo) on the Genesis as my first fighting game. I was at the age where I didn't know any tech about anything and the most advanced thing I could do were QCF motions (hence I gravitated towards the charge characters). 360 motions for T. Hawk were never going to happen, but I do remember spamming the dive all the time. The computer opponent would almost always fall for it and T. Hawk was the first character I was able to clear arcade mode with.
I always had a place in my heart for T Hawk for being the first """""Mexican""""" videogame character that I knew of. He may not look the part but he is cool enough for me to not care that much.

He's definitely one of the most underrated fighting game characters ever. I loved everything about him in USFIV. And SFV was HIS game, but Capcom missed the chance.

FUCK YES ABSOLUTELY Preach your gospel!! Love this dude he's my favorite example of airial adjacent complimentary character!! Cammy ~ T.Hawk Morrigan ~ Jedah SonSon ~ Strider Stuff like that!! Characters both with aerial tech design focus but in similar but not exactly identical senses! Hawk in general is very lovely I love his theme , design , personality. Severely underappreciated and under utilized.
I loved in T.Hawk in street fighter 4. When I was playing I used to despise Sagat as Zangief. At first I used Abel but then I didn't like him and his kit was constantly being changed around to the point I didn't like him anymore. I switched to T.Hawk and it was amazing to have a grappler that could crush Sagat's zoning game and get around it with dives and punish his whiffs just by landing near him and doing the super or ultra combo 1 after LOL.
If there's one reason I love coming back to your channel again and again, its your genuine love and passion for all the cool stuff in fighting games. More people need to be make videos that essentially boil down to, "Dude isn't this cool?" I mean thats why most people started playing games in the first place, it was cool, fun, and interesting! Learning all the tech and practicing your combos to win EVO next year, don't get me wrong that's fun too. Learning about things on a technical level is a huge part of what a lot of people enjoy about fighting games, but I just think there's room too for simply adoring the cool and fantastical side of these games as well. Between this and your last couple of videos on speculating Guilty Gear's future story, and giving a history and synopsis of some of the wackier fighting game characters ever, I just love the passion man and I look forward to more. Bring on the fanboying people!
T.Hawk was my main throughout SF4's variants and I was always surprised more people didn't learn him. He has some great tech and the back-jump EX Condor Dive can scare the crap out of people. Nothing's a better feeling than your opponent being one block-tick away from defeat and you have two or more bars on your meter. I hop back and forth until they're forced to eat it.
Fun fact, in Ultra 4 you can connect his Ultra 2 if you successfully manage to read a BD near your opponent and if you land the focus attack and they are on your knees
For the longest time I thought T-Hawk was ultra lame (full disclosure: I thought all of the New Challengers of Super Street Fighter II, with the exception maybe of Cammy, were lame). Over time however, I came to appreciate how dorkily cool T. Hawk actually is. I've even come to like Dee Jay and even though Fei Long is so obviously a Bruce Lee ripoff, there's no denying that his Rekkas are one of the most important innovations in fighting game history and has been sorely missed in SFV. I would have loved to see what the SFV design team would have done with T. Hawk and Dee Jay in SFV. Many of the team's redesigns of staple characters have been home runs - not just the visual redesigns, but the move updates as well - and I'm almost certain they would have given those two characters a proper re-imagining as well. It's fascinating to think what T. Hawk and Dee Jay's V-system would have been like - especially if they were later season additions, when the game became a lot more interesting.
the thing i like the most about T. Hawk is representation. Not only is he Mexican but he's Native American. Capcom thought, "Lets put someone in how is actually Native to the North American Continent in" And that to me is awesome. Later we'd Get El Fuerte Showcasing more Cultural Diversity of the Country. Street Fighter is a Game about the world and to see this representation of cultures all in one game is my number 1 reason why I love Street Fighter!

USFIV T Hawk > SSFIV T Hawk any day lmaooo!!! The only ridiculous crime T Hawk had was having by far the easiest Combo Trials in SFIV! But Yes I Also play T Hawk!! More Thunder for the Hawk clan please!
The new SF6 Chars are made to modernize the classic Chars Luke is a mix of Guile and Ryu, Marisa = Zangief and Gill, Manon is a better Able with Mixed style and Kimberly is Guy with more Moves! Guy was not really completed Char ( i still love him! ) but Kimberly is more round. Street Fighter goes on higher Level and this is good. What you think of Lily who is obvious a Thunder Hawk successor. I beat the arcade just 1s before with T.-Hawk SSF2T theme on and i just imaginate she is T.Hawk and it worked well. Same way i hope we get the Protector of the Thunderfood Tribe in SF6 and the Story goes on with Juli. Hope we see her with a incrased move set and thunder food clothes also far from the Shadow Law look. ( as 2nd costume she could have his Doll Outfit ) and rofflemonger what do you think T-Hawk should wear as an outfit in SF6? Here are two ideas from my side: T.Hawk with a poncho or AN military outfit (omage an SFM) .
T Hawk's "uppercut" was projectile invincible in SSF2, and had massive forward range. Between that and the dive, he was a shoto killer. Which is probably why he lost that invincibility in SSF2T. Can't have a character that destroys shoto-scrubs.
Thoughts on KI 2013 Thunder? Been maining the character for a year and a half now and he's definitely heavily inspired by T. Hawk in a number of ways besides design.
To be honest 99% of my thunder experience is with the old KI, I never played too much of the modern incarnation. That said I did like how they changed him up and turned him into a grappler with a sick fighting style.

So Alpha 3 has a cool little minigame for a device called the Pocketstation that you can get through certain means You can collect the characters level them up and make them fight like the original digimon games right? And T.Hawk is just objectively *the best one* The game gave him to me at the start and he's consistently been my MVP _for some reason_ He has a lot of health and also hits really hard I unlocked S.Akuma, a bunch of other grapplers and heavy hitters and this guy is STILL better, overall just gaining levelups faster *AND I DO NOT KNOW WHY* So although i don't really play him in any game, he just waltzed into my life and made me like him, now i have a Xatu called like him in Pokémon. _(when t.hawk sleeps he's in a little teepee i just needed to point that out)_
Mained T-Hawk in the SFIV days. Made it into the top 500 on X-Box. I’ve hung up my controller, but T. Hawk made for one of my greatest gameplay experiences ever.
It's such a shame, T Hawk is fun in sf4 but the way the universal mechanics like fadc work just didn't benefit him nearly as much as it did other characters. He could have really stood out and been a very special grappler if he made it into SFV, I can imagine cool v trigger stuff he could have
T.Hawk in sf4 always been a great example of why universal mechanics are not universally good for everyone. He got so little out of focus attacks and fadc in general.

It's so weird, I never really paid much attention to T. hawk before, even when Super Street Fighter 2 first came out, but this video showed me some sincere appreciation for him. I think I really overlooked T. Hawk. I always loved playing Dee Jay (awesome normals!!) and Cammy, but left T Hawk to the wayside. It's a shame, too, because Hawk's got tools. He is quite fast, too, especially for a grappler!!

I wish big fighters had some form of forced mobility. The only chars I seen this done kinda right with was pokey from gg. he has a special that just flings him forward.
@@bgonza2 from my knowledge, storywise, he's native to a tribe in what is the US, but was relocated to what is Mexico due to Bison killing off his village. So technically during the series, his nationality is Mexican but his ethnicity is Indigenous to the region that the village he's from is in

I always liked T. Hawk and thought it was laughable that people just wrote him off as an offensive Native American stereotype (speaking as someone who has Native ancestry himself and was proud to see a halfway decent character from that culture) when his only stereotypical trait is a couple aspects of how he looks. These people better steer clear of Nightwolf then.
Anyway.....he was my favorite character in SSFIV, I got a lot of BP just using him and tick throwing endlessly. People didn't know how to react to him. I was hoping maybe he'd be in SFV but he might not have worked so well with the way the game worked. I didn't use him too much in the SSF2 games, but I feared when my friend would pick him.
I always liked his story too, especially in A3 and his relationship with Juli. He wasn't so good to play in that game (seriously, wtf is with that stupid Canyon Splitter super), but I still used him sometimes.
If SF6 goes back to a more even style of play, I hope Hawk comes back.

T Hawk was my SFIV main, I got that he wasnt exactly strong but I enjoyed playing him, it was usually really intense trying to get up close and create your openings. So much fun to be had with the light spd! And his U2 was easily the most satisfying ultra to land in the entire game.

I'm mostly Mexican so I always thought it was cool to see some Mexican representation in Street Fighter, as it's my favorite game. I do hope if he's brought back they play up some more of his Mexican side and maybe balance it out with his Native side. Either way he's awesome and videos like this are long overdue!
I do think if he were to ever come back, he should play up the Mexican heritage a lot more for sure.

T Hawk had the grappling intense of Zangief and the aerial style of Vega. A great combination for sure!
I had SSF2 (non-Turbo) on the Genesis as my first fighting game. I was at the age where I didn't know any tech about anything and the most advanced thing I could do were QCF motions (hence I gravitated towards the charge characters). 360 motions for T. Hawk were never going to happen, but I do remember spamming the dive all the time. The computer opponent would almost always fall for it and T. Hawk was the first character I was able to clear arcade mode with.
I always had a place in my heart for T Hawk for being the first """""Mexican""""" videogame character that I knew of. He may not look the part but he is cool enough for me to not care that much.

Back when I was a little kid, me and my friends thought it was super cool that he was from Mexico (his stage). Yeah, but after reading his bio in EGM and Game Pro magazines, it was a bit of a let down he wasn't truly Mexican, but we still had love for T Hawk. He's definitely one of the most underrated fighting game characters ever. I loved everything about him in USFIV. And SFV was HIS game, but Capcom missed the chance.

He has always been my favorite Street Fighter. When he first came out the command grab was called the Storm Hammer, not Mexican Typhoon.That name solidified him as my favorite grappler in the series. As much as I'm not that good when it comes to playing him, he is my main whenever he's available.

I loved in T.Hawk in street fighter 4. When I was playing I used to despise Sagat as Zangief. At first I used Abel but then I didn't like him and his kit was constantly being changed around to the point I didn't like him anymore. I switched to T.Hawk and it was amazing to have a grappler that could crush Sagat's zoning game and get around it with dives and punish his whiffs just by landing near him and doing the super or ultra combo 1 after LOL.
If there's one reason I love coming back to your channel again and again, its your genuine love and passion for all the cool stuff in fighting games. More people need to be make videos that essentially boil down to, "Dude isn't this cool?" I mean thats why most people started playing games in the first place, it was cool, fun, and interesting! Learning all the tech and practicing your combos to win EVO next year, don't get me wrong that's fun too. Learning about things on a technical level is a huge part of what a lot of people enjoy about fighting games, but I just think there's room too for simply adoring the cool and fantastical side of these games as well. Between this and your last couple of videos on speculating Guilty Gear's future story, and giving a history and synopsis of some of the wackier fighting game characters ever, I just love the passion man and I look forward to more. Bring on the fanboying people!
I don't even play SF and I really like T.Hawk
T.Hawk was my main throughout SF4's variants and I was always surprised more people didn't learn him. He has some great tech and the back-jump EX Condor Dive can scare the crap out of people. Nothing's a better feeling than your opponent being one block-tick away from defeat and you have two or more bars on your meter. I hop back and forth until they're forced to eat it.

T. Hawk is my favorite character. He can surprise a lot of players with his mobillity and strength.
Fun fact, in Ultra 4 you can connect his Ultra 2 if you successfully manage to read a BD near your opponent and if you land the focus attack and they are on your knees
And his Omega version is the main inspiration for Necalli s moveset

For the longest time I thought T-Hawk was ultra lame (full disclosure: I thought all of the New Challengers of Super Street Fighter II, with the exception maybe of Cammy, were lame). Over time however, I came to appreciate how dorkily cool T. Hawk actually is. I've even come to like Dee Jay and even though Fei Long is so obviously a Bruce Lee ripoff, there's no denying that his Rekkas are one of the most important innovations in fighting game history and has been sorely missed in SFV. I would have loved to see what the SFV design team would have done with T. Hawk and Dee Jay in SFV. Many of the team's redesigns of staple characters have been home runs - not just the visual redesigns, but the move updates as well - and I'm almost certain they would have given those two characters a proper re-imagining as well. It's fascinating to think what T. Hawk and Dee Jay's V-system would have been like - especially if they were later season additions, when the game became a lot more interesting.

the thing i like the most about T. Hawk is representation. Not only is he Mexican but he's Native American. Capcom thought, "Lets put someone in how is actually Native to the North American Continent in" And that to me is awesome. Later we'd Get El Fuerte Showcasing more Cultural Diversity of the Country. Street Fighter is a Game about the world and to see this representation of cultures all in one game is my number 1 reason why I love Street Fighter!

Been playing the FUCK out of T-Hawk since I read Sirlin's article about balancing him for HD Remix back in 2009.
T. Hawk improved grappling and air mobility in ways never seen before;
Fei Long introduced rekka, creating an entirely new character trait;
Dee Jay expanded upon the charge move concept, making way for future charge characters to come;
Cammy expanded the way kicks work and can be used, improving combat mechanics and becoming one of the most recognisable Street Fighter characters to this day;
To the New Challengers, everyone!🥂 And to all they did to the franchise, as well and the entire FGC.

The new SF6 Chars are made to modernize the classic Chars Luke is a mix of Guile and Ryu, Marisa = Zangief and Gill, Manon is a better Able with Mixed style and Kimberly is Guy with more Moves! Guy was not really completed Char ( i still love him! ) but Kimberly is more round. Street Fighter goes on higher Level and this is good. What you think of Lily who is obvious a Thunder Hawk successor. I beat the arcade just 1s before with T.-Hawk SSF2T theme on and i just imaginate she is T.Hawk and it worked well. Same way i hope we get the Protector of the Thunderfood Tribe in SF6 and the Story goes on with Juli. Hope we see her with a incrased move set and thunder food clothes also far from the Shadow Law look. ( as 2nd costume she could have his Doll Outfit ) and rofflemonger what do you think T-Hawk should wear as an outfit in SF6? Here are two ideas from my side: T.Hawk with a poncho or AN military outfit (omage an SFM) .

T Hawk's "uppercut" was projectile invincible in SSF2, and had massive forward range. Between that and the dive, he was a shoto killer. Which is probably why he lost that invincibility in SSF2T. Can't have a character that destroys shoto-scrubs.
Although any serious T. Hawk player is just going to use the cheat code to play as his old version.

Thoughts on KI 2013 Thunder? Been maining the character for a year and a half now and he's definitely heavily inspired by T. Hawk in a number of ways besides design.
To be honest 99% of my thunder experience is with the old KI, I never played too much of the modern incarnation. That said I did like how they changed him up and turned him into a grappler with a sick fighting style.
My SF4 main I remember terrorizing my friends with him online and winning my very first local with him among a sea of Sagat's and Ken's.

He has a lot of health and also hits really hard

Mained T-Hawk in the SFIV days. Made it into the top 500 on X-Box. I’ve hung up my controller, but T. Hawk made for one of my greatest gameplay experiences ever.

It's such a shame, T Hawk is fun in sf4 but the way the universal mechanics like fadc work just didn't benefit him nearly as much as it did other characters. He could have really stood out and been a very special grappler if he made it into SFV, I can imagine cool v trigger stuff he could have
T.Hawk in sf4 always been a great example of why universal mechanics are not universally good for everyone. He got so little out of focus attacks and fadc in general.

It's so weird, I never really paid much attention to T. hawk before, even when Super Street Fighter 2 first came out, but this video showed me some sincere appreciation for him. I think I really overlooked T. Hawk. I always loved playing Dee Jay (awesome normals!!) and Cammy, but left T Hawk to the wayside. It's a shame, too, because Hawk's got tools. He is quite fast, too, especially for a grappler!!

I know his grappler options were super nerfed in SF4O, but honestly he's so fun there, maybe more than Ultra.
I wish big fighters had some form of forced mobility. The only chars I seen this done kinda right with was pokey from gg. he has a special that just flings him forward.

@@bgonza2 from my knowledge, storywise, he's native to a tribe in what is the US, but was relocated to what is Mexico due to Bison killing off his village. So technically during the series, his nationality is Mexican but his ethnicity is Indigenous to the region that the village he's from is in
