Hey its been a while since we had a top 10 list on the channel so lets make it a fun one! Fighting games moreso than perhaps any other genre of gaming are full of weird characters and oddballs for sure, but some are pretty next level. So here is my pick of a top 10 of the weirdest fighting game characters ever! Naturally everyone will have their own picks so feel free to post them in the comments as well! If you found this video fun or educational maybe leave a like!
Hey Roofle if possible can you do a video on the possible ways Capcom can continue their VS franchise. Should they fight themselves lol or fight another brand like Sega, Tezuka (makers of astro boy), DC or Shonen Jump. Oh in that vid you also talk about why Capcom has left its VS series in limbo for so long. Thanks
Amazing top. On the other hand, In a fighting game, a tank is more normal than a car. A car is weirder because it's a everyday vehicle and It uses its wheels as hand and foot.
One important fact about Blitztank: It is powered by dying soldiers used as living batteries. In its story mode after killing Akatsuki and taking the McGuffin the Blitz Motor, it regains its sentience. But not just one person's sentience, but _every person used as a battery, all scared and panicked._ The big bad Murakumo actually wants to mercy kill Blitztank, but loses and dies before saying death will come for it. While the events don't seem to be canon at all (Because of good old classic arcade FG story telling of "some stuff in the character stories are canon and others aren't), it does explain what Blitztank actually is, which also is just a finished prototype and there are *more* ready to be unleashed out on the world...
If akatsuki is like Captain Japan (a la Captain America, being a frozen super soldier representing the values of his home country) does that make Blitztank his winter soldier
Fun fact: Apparently Keiji Inafune (considered the "father" of Mega Man) specifically chose the Bad Boxart version for the game, as there was another canceled Mario Maker-esque Mega Man title that would've featured BBA Mega Man as well.
The story I heard was that the SFxT team came to Inafune for permission to use Mega Man, and he wanted to see them do something new with it, because we'd already seen Mega Man in a fighting game. They came back with Bad Box Art Mega Man, and he loved it.
While I think they portrayed him perfectly, Phoenix Wright in Marvel 3. His whole move set screams “This is a man who has never thrown a punch in his life and managed to fight superheroes by mistake.” His launcher is a *sneeze*, for god’s sake. Then Turnabout Mode happens and he becomes an absolute force of destruction because… he collected enough evidence? He has confidence now that he can win the case? Apparently there was a court case going on while this fight was happening? And then, finally, his level 3, where he exposes your crimes and makes a dramatic callout post on your ass, and you then die of emotional trauma. Which also happens to be the strongest level 3 by damage in the game.
Would love to see a part 2 of this because there are plenty other beautifully strange fighting game characters, and also it feels like a crime to exclude Voldo from a list like this!
Voldo being weird is sort of odd since that's sorta the point of him to the point where it's overly easy to point to him as The Weirdo arguably Angol Fear is weirder due to her nature as a crossover character who doesn't even exist in the media she's supposed to be from (she's the cousin of a main character in Sgt. Frog who's a race of heavily destructive aliens), and also just looking way different than everyone else
Hey we are back in business properly now! So here's a silly top 10 list for you and while we wait for Baiken and KoF 15 to launch, expect some more off kilter videos like this, some silly, maybe some a bit more serious. Big things on the channel are coming for 2022 so hop along for the ride!
Honorable mention to jagi from hnk who gets gaurd broken if he blocks low too much, can pour gasoline on the ground and light it, has a super move where you he asks you to say his name and you have to pick from a few different options and is the worst character in the game with bad matchups against everyone and two 1:9 matchups
Elphelt is definitely a Man hunter. Although Elphelt is kinda pervy with her nosebleeds when she is fantasizing about marrying her groom, I find it oddly more wholesome than when other anime characters do it. I find her ending quotes against the male characters very funny, because they are just her marriage delusions. Her ending quotes against female characters are also funny to, because it basically just revolves around her womanhood and how she is competing against the rest of the female cast.
"Elphelt is kinda pervy with her nosebleeds"... Is she? I mean anime characters do that a LOT and I never seen anyone call them pervy so idk what you mean. But I do agree that it's hilarious her vision of the cast xD
Just cause you weird don't mean you ain't cool. As for Arakune I think he's dull, and Faust is more of a slapstick character than anything else. Neco Arc is a champion, there isn't a single weird thing about her.
Ehhh Leopaldon looks weird and I love him for it, but that's really all he has. If I did like a "top 10 characters history has forgot" he would make that list cause he got disowned REAL quick
Funny thing about Hinako from KOF is that despite looking Russian, she's mostly Japanese. Also, she's constantly trying to get other high school girls to join her Sumo club, but to no avail for obvious reasons. It's nice that she happens to be friends with Hotaru from Garou, if the endings in 13 and 14 are anything to go by.
Obviously everybody has their own, but one of the more memorable ones to me is Ushi the Cow from Fighter's Destiny. Not just because it's an upright cow that fights you but...generally the game isn't full of fantasy elements, you can't shoot hadukens or anything and the game runs on a confusing points system like a irl martial arts tournament. It's relatively grounded even compared to like Tekken and VF. And that really makes the part where you fight an upright cow stand out.
Yep! Didn't cover that for this video but Q-Bee was the first ever subject of the ridiculous history series on this channel and she has that and many more strange facts about her.
@@sansclone1874 bees have more than one set of eyes. They could be extra eyes, or they could be just false eyes. She probably has a cute feminine face for the same reason she has boobs 😅
If a fighter mega mix 2 eve happens, that’s how Hornet should appear in your arcade run as a mid level boss. You think is a car bonus stage and then he gets up after a couple of punches
When I think of weird fighting game characters my mind always goes to Kusaregedo from Samurai Showdown V. Huge cannibal demon, what else needs to be said.
I love weird characters, they are just fun to use. Theres a lot u could have presented like Double and (Headless) Ms Fortune from Skullgirls, Arakune from Blazblue, Teddie and Sha. Labrys, even Dr Bosconovitch counts
Thank you for making this video, I was looking forward to watch a video about weirdest characters In fighting games and it actually popped up on RUclips search, great video so far
Neco-Arc (Melty Blood): A gag rendition of Arcuied with cat ears from Tsukihime's joke cutscenes after a bad ending metanarratively evolving into a separate character who became something for Type-Moon like how Jack Frost is for Atlas, functioning as both a mascot for the company, and an absolute meme and hype factory that continues to spread the word of their properties. Also, she has eye lasers and can cough out fire and other Neco-Arcs. Rasputin (World Heroes): A peace loving and somewhat dopey parody of the famous "religious figure" who actually has magical powers... one of his supers is straight up sexual assault. Otane Goketsuji (Power Instinct): An lady who devoted to mastering martial arts so she can get revenge on her sister, who locked her in a box and threw her in the ocean as a child. She was so devoted to the training, she's already in her 70s by the first game. Norimaro (Marvel Superheroes vs Street Fighter): A parody version of a famous Japanese comedian made to make the game appealing to the Japanese scene. He's kinda like a shitty shoto who can also quadruple jump. Lucky Glauber (King of Fighters): A shoto who's ballin'.
Don't forget Kusaregedo from Samurai Shodown! An ugly, fat, creepy, old man youkai big enough to give Gold Lightan a run for his money. He also vomits poison for one his moves, and has a fatality-like finishing move where he straight-up eats his opponent. Kinda hard to beat that. Steve from Smash is kinda weird, too. Literally a Minecraft character in a fighting game. His gimmick lets him mine for materials in the stage and use those to build new level geometry. You know, to wall bounce you against. Weird stuff.
Maybe we’re all just used to him because he’s a series mainstay, but I think Faust from Guilty Gear deserves to be in the conversation. He’s a 9 foot tall surgeon with a paper bag over his head, his idle stance is a ridiculous crouch, he swims through the air, uses a giant scalpel like a pogo stick, uses a magic doorframe to teleport, gives his opponent unsolicited plastic surgery, and always plays smash bros with items turned on.
I thought I was going to be surprised to not see any characters from Clayfighters appear on this list, but I gotta say the competition was too strong and the right call was made. Side note: no love for Q-Bee's electrocuted skeleton (or lack thereof)?
I'm surprised Zappa from GGXXAC isn't on here, but I think it makes sense; it seems like "weirdness" in this context is when your reaction is "how the fuck did anyone think of this?" whereas IMO Zappa is "ok no this is brilliant, loser who is possessed by ghosts"
Yeah but in the video you said to post the characters we think are weird as hell in the comments so that is what i did i like your list a lot tho a lot of character i have never heard of in my life
Bedman, the car and tank are like the only weird characters on this list. The rest are literally just people using slightly unfitting fighting styles or wearing a silly outfit. Less weird than shooting fireballs from your hands. Less weird than Ryu.
honestly... hinako is my favorite sumo character, only because shes not typical for the archetype ( I mean as typical as sumo wrestlers are suppose to be). And has a kickass sumo moveset, nice slap sounds, great lookin shorthop and hope she comes back.
I would recommend taking a look at Holeman from Slap Happy Rhythm Busters. Also, most to the characters from the Goketsuji Clan/Power Instinct series. Oh, also Mauru & Migi from Waku Waku 7; also Fernandez; and Bonus-kun form Galaxy Fight and Waku 7. *snaps* Mondu from Tongue of the Fatman Kira Daidouji and Eko form the Arcana Heart series. You should also look into Arm Joe. There was that one character that was a Japanese comedian in one of the Marvel vs. Capcom games that I think was replaced by Vega (matador) in the West.
Just a general list of weird characters, not necessarily any more or less weird than the ones on the list: Es, Ivan Ooze, Honey in Sonic the Fighters (just the weirdness of making Honey from Fighting Vipers a Sonic character), pretty much any Tattoo Assassin character.
My favorite thing about Kuma (aside from the fact that he’s a bear trained in karate) is that he’s possibly the only person other than Kazumi who Heihachi actually loves, or really even likes.
I wish for Hinako to return in KOF XV, that'd be a dream come true. KOF '00 is in my top 3 King of Fighters games namely because of the introduction of Hinako, Seth, & Lin. Also,, Hakan needs to return in Street Fighter VI - he was one of the best new characters from SF IV(along with Decapre).
Haha, I remember Hornet as a kid... It was a car... fighting... It was so fun and sick !!! Blitztank, such fun in 2007 with Akatsuki ! What a concept ! As for the list, I agree with you. I'd add Zappa instead of Elphelt, I guess... Still terrified to this day by... You know, Sadako ! 🤭🤣
There is a robot themed arcade fighter way back that i no longer remember the name, but it has a character named Dali Dali that fights permanently upside down, as in he's doing a handstand forever There's also a fighter in IGS's Killing Blade who got his legs amputated and uses two swords as a crutch
You need to do second list of weird fighting game characters. Hyena from KOF Maximum Impact series would have been hilarious to talk on about. He's a joke character himself, but has a decent moveset. His strongest Super is him pretending to die and lose all his health to psyche out the opponent, and then he gets an evil glint in his eyes, revives, and kicks the snot out of his opponent. Truly a weird yet fearsome fighting game character.
I’m surprised that we did not get one little girl riding a large plushie creature character. Like Marurun (Waka Waka 7) or Eko (Arcana Hearts 3). What’s up with those characters?
I was kinda expecting tekken7 yoshimitsu or soul calibur voldo, but I cannot disagree with this list! Awesome characters. And I got reminded that no matter the hotness Im scared of wasps and bees.
I've been playing darkstalkers 3 since it came out, a lot of it as q bee and I'm still today years old when I put together that the bees due when the sting you. God I love darkstalkers.
Two glaring omissions: Zappa from Guilty Gear and Hauser from Red Earth (although I believe he was only playable in Capcom Fighting Jam). But glad Bedman made the cut!
Aww you forgot to mention that Q-Bee doesn't look at the fighter. Her eyes on her face are not the eyes she sees with, it's the eyes on top of her head and that's why she "Looks" Down. Super interesting
Were you excluding characters from your "Ridiculous Characters in Fighting Game History"-series or why are we seeing Elphelt over my boy Bridget? Oh and thanks for reminding me of Blitztank. Man Blitztank 1v1s with friends are some of the dumbest, yet most, fun I've had with FGs
@@rooflemonger Nhaaaa dude, champaign bottles, bouquets and pink guns are all fine and dandy but being mauled by a buzzsaw-teddybear that can alternatively ride a bicycle and roadkill you? That's the good stuff, but I don't make the rules either haha good list though, I was NOT ready for Hornet
My favorite weird fighting game character is Koishi, as she appears in AoCF and the other later Touhou fighters. She has a gimmick where you 'queue up' attacks, and Koishi just release them... whenever she feels like it. It's kinda neat. Shootouts to Mech Hisui too. BaBaBa
Voldo from Soul Calibur feels like a requirement for this list. His stance is literally him moon walking in place with air humping. His gimpy attire and the way he fights is also nothing short of weird.
Fun fact: Q-Bee´s true eyes are the large discs on her heads. What seem to be eyes on their face are actually an imitation used to deceive other creatures.
Xanadu's a strange one, as he's like some kinda shaman who tells you about how he looks into your future. Sylvie on the other hand is quite the goofball. She kinda reminds me of Denki from MHA.
Sylvie is just a cheap ripoff of the pamyu pamyu girl and Xanadu is odd sure, but Hinako is very memorable in how weird she is juxtaposing her look versus how she fights.

I just noticed how G's tattoo match exactly the same position as the globe in character select screen and the is insane
You can't have a fighting game without a resident weirdo. So this is a great idea

*snaps* Mondu from Tongue of the Fatman
Kira Daidouji and Eko form the Arcana Heart series.
You should also look into Arm Joe.
There was that one character that was a Japanese comedian in one of the Marvel vs. Capcom games that I think was replaced by Vega (matador) in the West.
Needs Neco-Arc, Bears in Tekken, and Phoenix Wright in umvc3
0:30 just got a hit of nostalgia when I saw that Dino from Tekken
Just a general list of weird characters, not necessarily any more or less weird than the ones on the list:
Es, Ivan Ooze, Honey in Sonic the Fighters (just the weirdness of making Honey from Fighting Vipers a Sonic character), pretty much any Tattoo Assassin character.
The lack of Leopaldon is very disturbing, as he's by far the oddest character ever made.
This could be at least a ten part series, if not simply an ongoing one👍
Kuma/Panda from Tekken is probably my favorite "weird" character
My favorite thing about Kuma (aside from the fact that he’s a bear trained in karate) is that he’s possibly the only person other than Kazumi who Heihachi actually loves, or really even likes.
We not gonna talk about that fighting game that has a fighter who's fatality is to sexually assault the opponent?
Im the only person who think yoshimitsu is super weird? Dont see him neither in an honerable mention feels strange.
Great vid man
yo pepsiman though
I'm surprised the dog creature from guilty gear isn't on the list
A bee and hornet on the same list.
Seeing Q-Bee, now I understand why there hasn't been another Darkstalkers game in a while XD
There is a robot themed arcade fighter way back that i no longer remember the name, but it has a character named Dali Dali that fights permanently upside down, as in he's doing a handstand forever
There's also a fighter in IGS's Killing Blade who got his legs amputated and uses two swords as a crutch
You are the best roofie!
A very cool video, but I am genuinely surprised leopaldon wasn't on this list... unless boss characters are disqualified.
I like how the music stops when the bees die.
Ocha-Maro Karakuri from Samurai Shodown VI, Arakune from Blazblue
Two glaring omissions: Zappa from Guilty Gear and Hauser from Red Earth (although I believe he was only playable in Capcom Fighting Jam). But glad Bedman made the cut!
Aww you forgot to mention that Q-Bee doesn't look at the fighter. Her eyes on her face are not the eyes she sees with, it's the eyes on top of her head and that's why she "Looks" Down.
Super interesting
Haha yep! I didn't go in super depth with each character but thats covered in her ridiculous history video
I'm actually surprised Capriccio from Fighting Layer didn't make this list, but outside of maybe one character, I wouldn't change this list.
This was a fun video, thank you
BlitzTank is the truest form of Fighting Games. He was so amazing, ArcSys decided to put Rollback in BBTag, just so people can play BlitzTank Online
Elphelt is just a weirder character than bridget, I don't make the rules
@@rooflemonger Nhaaaa dude, champaign bottles, bouquets and pink guns are all fine and dandy but being mauled by a buzzsaw-teddybear that can alternatively ride a bicycle and roadkill you? That's the good stuff, but I don't make the rules either haha
good list though, I was NOT ready for Hornet
My favorite weird fighting game character is Koishi, as she appears in AoCF and the other later Touhou fighters. She has a gimmick where you 'queue up' attacks, and Koishi just release them... whenever she feels like it. It's kinda neat.
Shootouts to Mech Hisui too. BaBaBa
I feel like Q is just a stranger version of G.
Voldo from Soul Calibur feels like a requirement for this list. His stance is literally him moon walking in place with air humping. His gimpy attire and the way he fights is also nothing short of weird.
He also tends to spend a large amount of the match facing the wrong way.
Fun fact: Q-Bee´s true eyes are the large discs on her heads. What seem to be eyes on their face are actually an imitation used to deceive other creatures.
Thinking Hinako is weirder than Xanadu or Sylvie is.... interesting
I guarantee the Voldo stans are going to come out of the woodwork for this one
