I've never heard anyone else mention it, but Danny Carey loves the toms more than any other drummer I swear. The most 'tool' thing for me is snareless drum passages, mostly just toms, or kicks and toms.

When I first heard Tool I thought that drummer sure likes his crashes. He still overplays them a bit for my taste. Still an amazing drummer.

No no no.. the aliens have him. You see, Danny was born when Blorkogon of the Cephalonoid Galaxy accidentally got a woman pregnant during a bachelor party visit to Earth, 65 years ago. Danny took all of his mother's looks in the genetics department, but inherited the physical abilities of his 4 arm 4 leg father. Blorkogon had no idea, until the aliens were performing a scan to locate the rest of their kind, and there was a ping from Earth. Then he had a flashback and realized he must be a father after that crazy bachelor night with too many tequila shots. Blorkogon just wanted to meet his son, so they took Danny aboard their ship and he is showing off for his father in this video.

Master drummer on an average electric drum kit, nice! 🤘🏻
It's not an average e-drum kit though, it's a mandala. Each pad has 128 different sensing zones, the pads can tell how far from the center you are hitting and you can program individual sounds according to the stick position on the radius. Normal electric drums only have 1 or 2 zones, maybe 3 if you are lucky.
Wow. Never hoped for electronic drums to have this natural-like sound.
