This is just a little tip from somebody who did this mod: *if you break one of the little clips on a switch that hold it to the PCB **_DON'T PANIC_* Simply use that switch on a key like shift that has stabilizers, the added points of contact with the keycap will give you a straight, stable key.

Just picked this up and have played a few days on it and I love it! I find it way more quiet than his ‘before’ sound test..... still going to do these mods though 🤓 if you’re reading this and on the fence to buy one just do it. It’s pretty reasonably priced compared to others and the red optical switches are really really nice.
I lubed up the board, and added foam, on top of that I threw in some POM Jelly keycaps and oh my god, this keyboard looks and sounds beautiful, especially from razer.
I just finished my mod and it sounds and feels way better. Skipped wd 40 part though, couldn't find dry one close to me. Honestly, don't think it would've made it noticeably better though. Used your video with a little help from Techne in lubing stuff) Btw, my first full keyboard mod. Thnx)
I just did these modifications to my new Huntsman! While it does come with a very thin foam pad by default now, the 2mm thick EVA form I bought is still miles better. One thing to be VERY mindful of when doing the dry lube step: I used a piece of tape aswell, but realized halfway through that the lube was dissolving the tape glue and depositing it in some of the switches, causing them to get a slightly "sticky" feel as opposed to the very smooth feel. I would recommend to NOT use the tape and just be extra careful with the amount of lube applied.

I just did this! When you pop the switches out you can squeeze the side pegs together (if you have nails) and they push out easily. Great tips - the mini sounds a lot better.

I just added a dampener to mine, and that is easily a must for anyone who owns a mini! I didnt feel to trusty of my.... uhh... "skeet skeet" methods, so I decided to just do the dampener and it sounds fantastico.
As someone who actually has done this with their Huntsman Mini I have a few tips for you guys. 1.) Use a little bit more lube than you think you have to, I didn't use enough and now some of my switches have more spring ping and aren't as smooth as others. 2.) Maybe this was just a fail on my part but when I put the keyboard back together I put a few keycaps on before I noticed that my stabilizers were actually sticking to the band aids underneath them
@@greedaye regular WD-40 isnt actually a lubricant, its a de-greaser. You have to use the PTFE WD-40, because it is a lubricant, and its non-conductive, meaning it wont short anything out.
hey i used the regular bc im a moron. I read that it eventually dries out. Is my board fucked or should i just wait to let it dry out. The only problem is my switches are super inconsistent.

Thanks a lot for the tip with the foam and the tape! I've got my Huntsman Mini v2 for 2years now and I always hated the sound of the spacebar soooo much but after the mods I can't stop to do those weird button-soundtests. :D only thing which I can't recommend is to put the medicaltape directely on the spacers... for me the only thing which this did was that the button was stuck because of the glue of the tape.
Just a heads up on the HyperX pudding keys. I swapped mine and the issue with the space bar is that it has those clips on the edges. So if you do the swap, the space bar key cap from HyperX is gonna wobble way too much. I recommend leaving the stock space bar.
Since they are kind of the same, I have two questions about the Huntsman Mini and Huntsman TE. It would be really helpful if you could answer! 1. Can you do all of these the same way for the TE or make a tutorial on how if not? 2. Could I theoretically buy the new linear switches, pop out the old ones on my TE, and replace them? If you could also make a video like this one on the TE and answer those questions (because it would help a lot of people) that would be great! Awesome video, thanks! :D
All I did to mine was add doubleshot pbt pudding keycaps and use cotton balls for sound dampener, I put them around the holes and ports and it works surprisingly well.
Use some mass loaded vinyl. It can provide some more rigidity and absorb more shocks. They also come laminated in the form of dynamat or similar products with different names.
@@citricalxx5227 Since there is no reply. I'll reply from my own experience. Yes it works, there is no hollow sound or echo when you use the keyboard. Another good mod you can use is using O rings on the keycaps. It will also dampen it dowm
apsndd jwhdhd the gk61 is actually quieter because it’s stabilizers aren’t complete garbage like the huntsman mini. I’m not saying the gk61 stabs are some otherworldly being but compared to the huntsman mini they are a godsend. On top of that for less than the huntsman mini you can buy lube and make the switches feel and sound much nicer
But the huntsman mini for me I would want white keycaps or hyperx pudding keycaps cause black keycaps are getting ti boring for me now hyperx pudding black version sure

He has a video on top mice mods, but other than replacing the feet, the only other thing you can do it add some grips to it. Razer added some nice PTFE feet to their new mouse lineups and honestly there pretty good. But yeah not much you can do with a wireless mouse.
I haven't tried it yet, but you should probably be able to. If you want to confirm, go onto r/mechanical keyboards in Reddit and ask your question there.

Razer has already listened. If you bought the Huntsman Mini in the last couple of months or weeks, not too sure when the newest revision came out, they already added the dampening foam and the bandaid mod. Only disassemble it if you want to lube the switches, otherwise it's already all done.

Yeah the band aid mod just gave me a sticky feel, and I took them out.

these mod do add a nice premium feel to the keys and such, they keys are feel super smoother I am sure with the lub it will feel even better.

I think its important to note that you SHOULDN'T use regular WD40. Either use the same PTFE spray he used or use Super Lube aerosol with PTFE.
Apperently the exact WD40 he is using isn't available in my country, and l know f*** all about it. It just need to be a PTFE dry lube, correct?
