  • Today's video is all about the holistic health practice called journaling -- it's life changing!

    My journaling story started long ago.
    I was 12 years old, and I read a story in the American Girl magazine about a fictional girl named Amelia who had a journal. In this journal, she drew pictures, doodled, chronicled her life, and wrote down her thoughts and frustrations.
    I wanted to be Amelia.
    (You don’t have to want to be Amelia, though you may want to hear me out about the benefits of reflective writing.)
    And like that, I was a journaler- and ever since, journaling has been a somewhat constant companion. This practice of journaling has gotten me through life’s struggles and successes, breakups, breakdowns, and important pivotal moments. Do I neglect this “companion” from time to time? Sure. But when I’m routinely faithful to my pen and book, my life goes a whole lot more smoothly.
    And it turns out it’s not just my own hunch or speculation, there’s a whole host of scientific data touting journaling as a truly health-promoting practice.

    I used to journal everyday until my dog died. I think my heart is so broken I can't pick up a pen anymore

      Oh Bree... I am SO sorry. It is so traumatic to lose a family member -- be it human or canine or feline. I am so sorry for you. :( Though writing about your loss and sadness might indeed help you. You could write a letter to your dog in heaven, perhaps. Though maybe you just need some time -- which is so understandable. Take all the time you need. Sending lots of love and strength.

    Hi Ann, journaling is a great practice. I used to journal when I was teen and stopped and restart at my 20s, 30s and had to stop because I ran out of time probably because I wanted to write so many things 😊. But I aim to start again. I need to find a good notebook. Thank you for this video.

      Yes! A good notebook is a good motivator. Why not start for just 5 minutes every morning until you get in the habit? I was great about journaling when I was a teen, too, and then on and off during my 20s. I find that when I make the time to do it, I feel so much better! Hope you can pick it back up! 💛
