Revlon Air Straight vs Dyson Airstrait

  • Revlon One-Step Air Straight versus Dyson Airstrait Straightener! Could this new one-step hair styler be a dupe for the newest Dyson hair tool? Let’s test it out. So what are these new hair stylers? They’re essentially a hair dryer and hair straightener in one. You start with towel dried hair and the hot air will dry and style your hair in one step. Dyson has really stepped up the hair tool game with their revolutionary designs. It’s exciting to see other beauty brands come out with comparable or similar hair tools at a much lower cost.

I typically dry my very wet hair until it's slightly damp and then use these one-step products. I can't stomach paying the price of the Dyson, so I'm happy that Revlon added the air straight to their line-up. Thanks for demonstrating them.

So here is my update: I LOVE the Dyson! I used it today for the first time and did a rush job so I’m looking forward to spending more time with it and using more features. I have medium-long blonde 2c hair, with a kinky S wave to it, not wavy, not curls. If I air dry it it takes HOURS to dry and frizzes. If I set it on curlers and sit under hood dryer it takes 1 hour and comes out smooth and then I straighten with straight iron. I used the Wet Hair High temp (285 i think) and it took about 20-30 minutes for my entire head. I didn’t section very well since that’s new to me, so next time I’ll be more structured and use clips etc. I used larger sections of hair since it was just a test, next time I’ll use smaller sections. I can’t even blow dry my hair to straight so this dryer is amazing! Very straight, not frizzy but I think next time if I do smaller sections and take more time it will be even smoother and shinier. I wish I had this dryer for the last 30 years! We are going to Santa Barbara next week and I’m definitely taking this with me, no more crazy hair while traveling! Also, hair dryers are SO much hotter, this was a dream. 👍

The instructions say to close and lock the clamps when using the cold shot (so use it in hairdryer mode, rather than clamping your hair). Maybe that will help with the static somehow?

The Revlon works for only straight or wavy hair. If you have curlymor textured hair, it will literally rip it out. The Dyson works on all types of hair. I literally bought it (came yesterday) after seeing someone with textured hair use it, and it dried their hair very quickly with three passes. I thought with my curly fine hair, it should only need two. So, it truly depends on your hair type and what you can afford. ❤ What's funny is I never heard of this until I saw the 20% off owners coupon from Dyson in my email.

I received a Revelon airstraight free to review maybe a month ago. Save your money. It is absolutely garbage. Doesn’t dry worth a damn. The air coming out is so hot that it will burn your ears and scalp so you can’t dry your roots. And the biggest issue is that it doesn’t actually straighten while it dries. The plates are not to be used until the hair is fully dry. So you’re essentially blow drying your hair first with an enormously ineffective tool then flat ironing it with the same tool immediately afterward. As I said in my review, this is nothing more than an expensive gimmick. I’d skip this one and stick to a blow dryer and flat iron.

Thanks, but I’ll stick to my $20 hair dryer and $15 flat iron. My hair looks just as good as what Dyson does and for A LOT less $$$$$. Dyson price is ridiculous.

For the price of $400 US you’d hope the Dyson would be better!

They both sound fairly noisey to have beside one’s ears for a good few min!

What is more imp is how long is this straightening going to last for. If it doesnt even stay for an hour,it doesnt matter what company it is, its a total waste!

    I don’t think it’s a fair comparison. It’s a $400 difference you cannot compare those two items.

That's literally the point to comparing them, lol!
