She really represented the country well because she took it to a whole different level...a cut above the rest, the logistics were so carefully planned from the concept behind her OOTD to the execution of her gestures, turns, and facial expressions that were meant to catch the viewers' undivided attention... not to mention her interview responses which were candid but had depth...bottomline is she just didn't wing it, she invested the needed time and effort to get the crown.

I can't believe that Catriona's reign is about to end. She did a wonderful job as a miss universe.
I always come back to 2018 Miss Universe videos even after the coronation for succeeding pageants. Catriona, for me, is just the best Miss Universe to ever be crowned. Miss Universe needed her and she came to claim the crown.
She may be the "best" winner but sadly she didn't have the best reign as Miss Universe, and we don't need to elaborate it obviously.

Why do people always use the same argument about Catriona not looking like a Filipina? Of course, it’s expected that she will not look like a “typical Filipino” since she’s a product of two (or more) different races. I bet she’s not the only candidate who’s biracial/multiracial. So what’s the big deal if she’s not 100% full Filipino? Being a half-blooded Filipino, or even less than a half, does not make a person less of a Filipino. She has every right to call and identify herself as a Filipino. And what does a “TYPICAL FILIPINO” even look like anymore? Race is constantly changing and evolving. We get super prideful and such when someone succeeds yet the jealousy etc kicks in and we try to find something worth arguing about. I’m a KoreaPino and seriously one of the things I hated. Super glad my dad chose to move us to the states, he said it was crazy when people were telling him to get married (he married late) yet once he did everyone found something negative to say when he married my Korean mother. The crown was ment for Catriona since the beginning when she arrived at the airport and a mob of fans met her and screamed her name in the same breath as their new Miss Universe queen..every competitior who saw this arrival..was definitely initmated and knew..the queen has arrived to be crowned..the weeks followed showed us how dominating Catriona was..the home crowd loved her so much..they did not call her country but her name..they are rooting for her to win!..In the Prelims it was so overwhelmingly obvious that Catriona slayed the competition in both SS and EG..now at this point the world knew who will be the next MU queen..Catriona was on a league of her own and the others are way below her..In the Finals it was a celebration not only for Catriona but for all..it was the best ever edition of MU pageant..Thailand thank you for such a great show and a great host country!! ..we could see how Catriona not only show her regalness, fierce poise and beauty but her intelligence..and even a memorable twirl which will stay in our minds for ages to come..she is not a girl who wants to become or do new things in her reign..she is already an accomplished girl who knows what she wants and knows how to represent the brand of MU..all of these make her the best prepared and genuinely deserving winner..I cannot wait to see more of her reign!..by the way it would be difficult for next year`s winner to top these..the dominance is yet unseen and seems unbeatable!..

I knew from the getgo when she was crowned in the Philippines, that she was going to be the next miss universe. She is the prettiest miss Philippines woman ever came across any of the beauty pageants in the world. Well deserved that crown, and I have to vote I would vote again for her. She is GORGEOUS, that sometimes it makes me doubt if she is really Philippine? Congrats to the new miss universe. I’m so happy for her!

She resembles her mom, who is Filipino, a lot too. :) Stripped from all the glamour, she really looks Filo to me (face wise). But makeup does her really good too and enhances her features!
Alexa Aguipo Agree to disagree, but I’ve been in the Philippines and I I’ve seen all the pageants around the world and I’ve never seen that type of Philippine beauty, the majority I’ve seen such as actresses and you name it, has been similars to Pía, despite Pía is half German and half Philippine. That beauty of catriona it’s unique and she was born to be a QUEEN!
PrincessAlexaLaboy Sorry, I wasn’t able to emphasize the last part. Most “half-caste” in our country do look a certain way but if your premise is about the lineup of candidates we had over the years, I’d say her and Pia are at a different category. I would add Shamcey Supsup though and she is PURE FILIPINA. Filo features are very mixed to begin with even before colonialism took place in the country. The earlier candidates def have the traditional Filipina look: brown-skinned, slim, average in height for the most part, with smaller eyes, so I’d agree with you on that. But this new generation has bred a lot of bright-eyed, tall-as-a-tower beauties that are quite commonplace now in the Philippine pageantry, even with MANY OF THEM BEING PURE FILIPINOS. Hence, I said in the first place she looks typically Pinoy stripped from all the glitz. But when compared to previous PH beauty candidates, say Janine Tugonon or Miriam Quiambao, then there is a disparity to be pointed out. :) All love for this diverse beauties though.

Everything's perfect, her slow mo walk damn the best walk i've ever seen so far it has the effect on me really, plus her perfect earcuffs, her red fiery gown, and her answers. Everything's creative. It all made her stand out especially at the top 5 😂😂 She's wearing red and it made her look like the winner already. and yes, she got the crown. Hands down to Catriona 🙌🙌💗👑 Absolutely stunning.

She won because she was the best candidate to represent the Miss Universe Organization and its advocacy to the whole world. The moment I saw South Africa on the opening intro I knew she was it. She has what it takes, just that Catriona places complete strategy and 10 levels more prepared than the rest, with a huge experience of defeat as 1st runner up in Miss World 2016. Miss South Africa had very tough competition, Catriona's tough not only to her but also to any other year's Miss Universe, guess it wasn't Miss South Africa's luck otherwise she's the Miss Universe we'd want to see. Catriona had it all to win, but outsmart bold girls just aren't my type I guess. I like it calmer, those what accentuates poised and elegance, something like first lady vibe while Catriona is more of I'm the next president vibe. Congrats to both ladies anyway.
With every winner, doesnt matter if its a beauty pageant, or sports, politics, etc, there'll always be someone to say they never should have been the winner. Thats human nature, i guess.
