Miss Nigeria was actually right. After getting crowned, the winner is supposed to talk a first walk as Ms Universe, come back and then the girls will hug her. They rehearse this kind of thing. But the girls got too excited and came to Zozi as soon as she got crowned, hence was not able to walk.

As diverse as South Africa is, majority of women look like her so her victory showed that no matter your color or poor background you can achieve great things. Before 2019 alot women who looked like her wouldn't dare enter such competitions because of racial bias.

Zozibini Tunzi made a great history in Miss Universe for two reasons:
-She is the first Miss South Africa of pure African ancestry to win the Miss Universe title.
-She is the first Miss Universe winner to win with a short hair in the millennium after Janelle Commissiong of Trinidad and Tobago in 1977.

As a Puerto Rican, I am always dissapointed that my country insists to showcase only the European-looking beauties...the country has a Mixed population, and lots of beautiful women of African and Taíno ancestry...it's time that Puerto Rico began showcasing the variety of the beautiful Puerto Rican women...I'm glad that SA won...she is gorgeous!!!❤

As an African woman, I am so proud of Miss. South Africa. I cried when she was crowned. She silently said to one of the black contestants" I won" I could tell that she has been through a lot but yet still rose to the top. I am still crying. She is an inspiration.

Miss Puerto Rico I found to be firm and neutral. South Africa is lovely and with great intentions, but she was doing "Identity Politics". One of the things the world is burdened and being held back by is identity politics.
