      So team does not matter ?
      Intrepreting and using stats how you see fit such bull.
      So the guy in the western conference with NONE all star othen than himself, without their teams being even comparable in talent and having almost same record with better stats is not mvp?
      How crazy can you be seriously.
      Harden gonna break TO record but he also leading a team with no all star other than him and bunch of no names(maybe other than gordon)....maybe if he had people in his team that could help the workload he would actually have less T.O
      Honest how biased can you be ....using stats without context at all?How come another time Colin had a show about stats do not matter for lebron?lol

    Literally after Dirk so many European players got drafted in hopes of the next Dirk example Darko Milicec or whatever. Porzingis is one of the most recent examples.

    • @mattpease6898
      @mattpease6898 7 лет назад +2

      bigfatpanda99 I understand what you mean but that's more of a comparison by association rather than play style. Those bigs are compared to Dirk because they are European, not because he is the bar for a shooting big man. Kevin Durant is the prototypical lengthy wing player. Then again I think Dirk is top 20.

    • @josh0766
      @josh0766 7 лет назад +5

      Matt Pease bigfatpanda99 people like Darko and Andrea Bargani were drafted so high because of the success of Dirk. Let's be honest Dirk was way ahead of his time. He pretty much made the stretch 4 position that's so coveted today. Kevin Durant has consistently played the 3 his entire career. Only until recently with golden state has he started playing more 4. When you look at his game KD is a wing with the way he handles the ball and shoots at 7 feet .

    Dirk is the one franchise player who never had a sidekick for his entire career. In 2011 he had Jason Terry, Tyson Chandler, Brendan Haywood, an older Shawn Marion and whatever was left of Jason Kidd, and took that team to a title. Dirk is absolutely top 20 all time.

    • @pjs7136
      @pjs7136 7 лет назад

      No offense Ken D, I do adhere with the eye ball test as well but you do have to acknowledge that the test is subjective because we don't view a certain player or certain players the same way. Plus, these awards that you speak of have some scientific basis upon them with a little application of the eye ball test from time to time. So, if you're saying that people who use analytics are stupid, then you're ignorant. Whenever people can't back up what their eyes see with data and facts, they usually say the same thing like what you're doing. Sorry, but Kawhi was the best defender over the past two years. Just not this year anymore because people get tired too man, whether you like it or not, his effect on defense isn't as good as it was before. That's because of taking more of an offensive load. If you don't like it, then you're free to acknowledge whatever you want. Peace

    Dirk really deserves to be a top of all time. Top 20 for sure maybe even top 15. If you dont agree its because you have not seen enough of him. He is one of the if not the most unguardable players when hot. One of the clutchest players of all time. 6th on scoring. Elite streak of winning seasons and taking the mavs to the playoffs almost by himself. Just watch his 2011 playoff run to catch a glimpse of Dirks greatness. That '11 playoff run has to be one of the greatest playoff runs of all time from any player in history.

    The main reason kawhi makes the spurs defense "worse"when he is on the court is because, if you watch any game this year, essentially most teams put the guy he's guarding in the corner, avoiding kawhi entirely. Because he is a dominant defender. So what your left with are some aging players and young guys. Like seriously Nick is sounding like the spurs would be better without kawhi, what a joke.

    • @csd7663

      Dirk won with a bunch of over the hill veterans on their last ride, and role players.

    • @Xzei
      @Xzei 4 года назад

      @@funeralopolis1 That's exactly what Wade and Bosh were. Wade (always injured veteran) and Bosh (soft as tissue role player. Sorry, but putting up double doubles on trash teams when you have a high usage rate doesn't make you good) and the Miami heat team in general were trash without LeBron.
      When LeBron didn't play the Heat were below .500
      When LeBron DID play and went to the bench, the Heat had a negative plus/minus
      The Heat were ONLY GOOD when LeBron was on the court. Take LeBron off and they are in the bottom 3 of the East with that bench and roleplayers.

    • @funeralopolis1
      @funeralopolis1 4 года назад

      Xzei so then find me the teammate that dirk has you would take before wade and bosh. Terry was Dallas 2nd best player. Marion was the 3rd. They were not even comparable to Bosh or Wade.
      Not a debate to be had on any level. The talent disparity was clear.

    • @Xzei
      @Xzei 4 года назад

      @@funeralopolis1 So you want to name players and compare them based on the entirety of their careers and use that as evidence when discussing production in 1 playoff series?
      Chris Bosh shot 41% that series and could do NOTHING against Dirk. MIKE BIBBY was the starting PG for Miami. Only LeBron, Wade, and Haslem shot over like 45% I think. The 3-PT shooting was 41% to 34%, and the point differential for the series was less than 3 points per game. And statistically (offensively and defensively) both Tyson Chandler and Jason Terry outplayed Chris Bosh. OFF/DEF rating, PER, GS, whatever you like. That enough or do you still believe Dirk had no help because of "name on back of jersey is bad grrrr"

    People keep saying Lebron has a superteam, but what makes it so super? The starting 5 includes J.R. Smith and Tristan Thompson. They are solid starters, but not stars. Kevin Love is an all-star but can't get his own shot and struggles defensively. Kyrie is an all-star PG who is a scoring wizard, but struggles as a facilitator and is not a good defender. The rotation includes a couple of 36-yr-olds (RJ, Korver), 34-yr-old Channing Frye, 32-yr-old Deron Williams, Iman Shumpert & Derrick Williams. Lebron somehow makes it all work at a championship level. But it all falls apart when he's not on the floor. That doesn't spell "superteam" to me.

    Wade should not be above Dirk. Dirk has an MVP and a Finals MVP. Dirk has been the best player of his team for 20 years. Wade was not the best player in Miami when Shaq was there or when LeBron was there, and he's not the best player now in Chicago. Dirk is 6th is scoring and Wade is 34th. Dirk is miles ahead of Wade.

      @Luckymag-if4dw 7 лет назад

      so 28/8/5 on 56% from the field and 50% from 3 is similar to 16/6/2??? like seriously?? And in the last 4 games of the 2013 finals lebron averaged 32/10/7/3/1 on 48% from the field and 43% from 3 in 45 mpg. Also didn't kawhi failed to even score in double digits in games 1 and 2 of the 14 finals?? Dude I actually love Kawhi's game and think he's becoming a top 4 player, but just stop it now, you are completely distorting the facts to make it fit your argument. ''Kawhi came back and swept the king'' ... really dude?? First of all it was 4-1, second HE didn't sweep nobody, the Spurs (who actually would still be a pretty solid team evfen without him) played fantastic basketball and beat the Miami Heat.

  • @percybedford6266
    @percybedford6266 7 лет назад +12

    One thing Nick Wright fails to mention is the supporting casts. LeBron by far has the best supporting cast out of all the candidates. Khawi is the MVP this year and I am not even a Spurs fan. Once again Wright can't help himself when it comes to LeBron. I wonder what his excuse will be if he loses the Finals this year? He'll probably say LeBron ran out gas, I can hear it now.

    • @csd7663
      @csd7663 7 лет назад +2

      Percy Bedford Leonard has an extremely good supporting cast as well, along with maybe the best coach and GM ever. A big reason why Lebron has good players around him is because players take a pay cut because they want to play with him. No one is better at making players around him better then Lebron. Korver was shooting 42% from 3 in Atlanta. He is shooting over 52% from 3 in Cleveland.

      Percy Bedford Their teams' win/loss records say you're wrong. LeBron has Kyrie and other nice guys. harden has the same and so does Kawhi. Westbrook doesn't have any shooters around him or they don't get enough oppurtunities to show it.

    • @percybedford6266
      @percybedford6266 7 лет назад

      jaxsonlee10 wow so you judge win loss record by the talent on the team? LeBron is playing with 2 all stars in the East. Kawhi doesn't have an all star, he is out West and his team is fighting for 1st place. The Spurs have over achieved where as the Cavs have overwhelming under achieved.

  • @edisonenriquez67
    @edisonenriquez67 5 лет назад +1

    While Dirk only won 1 ring, he did it without any other superstar in his team. Jason Terry was his only true side-kick when he won the chip. Also, he won it against Kobe, Bynum, Gasol in the semis. Harden, Ibaka, Westbrook, KD in WCF and Lebron, Wade, Bosh in the Finals. Think about that! He did this in a super tough WCF and even beat the Spurs team with Timmy, Manu and TParker. You rank Wade and KG higher? Well, let's change the narrative then, Dirk has Lebron and Bosh or Dirk with Ray Allen and Paul Pierce. Damn, 5 rings atleast IMHO.

  • @JonnyLin7
    @JonnyLin7 7 лет назад

    Nick Wright is absolutely on point with DIrk. I think it's personally a toss up between Dirk and KG. Both very impressive resumes. I think Dirk's 2011 season gives him a slight edge. Dirk beat a Miami super team without another true super team. Now that Dallas team was really good, Jason Terry, Shaun Marion and Tyson Chandler plus Rick Carlisle as coach, but Dirk was the superstar. KG had some fantastic seasons like 2004 though with Minnesota, where I thought he might have been the best player in the world that year. I tend not to judge too much on rings because that's a team achievement, but when you lead your team to a ring that's different. E.g. Why Kobe shouldn't even be mentioned with Jordan even though it's 5 versus 6 rings cause Jordan won finals MVP and was the best players for all those rings, while Kobe had someone who won all 3 finals MVPs who was, when at his best, the most unstoppable player of all time.

    Whats colin talking about, people compare every euro big man who can shoot to dirk. Porzingis' upside was "the next dirk, but can also protect the rim" when he was getting drafted. You very rarely hear anyone called the next dwyane wade

    If scoring 30k points doesn't warrant a player to top 20 to everyone then was the point of keeping track of the stats. I'll tell you this much all the respect Dirk gets from the greats out and in the league, to the people who actually played against him they know his greatness
