He was very kind in person, I met him in NYC once, before a show when he was a member of Tin Machine, and gave him some inscribed paint brushes...he spent like 10 min. talking to me and thanking me for them. He was beautiful in every way.
Indeed he was. He lived down the block from my job and was a supporter of so many local businesses- one belonging to a friend of mine. He was also a voracious reader.
My husband was on this tour with him. His catalogue is massive!!!! Enjoy! I love Lazarus on his final album and his song Life in Mars is playing in space on Elon Musks Tesla Roadster headed towards Mars!
It's part of his last album, ★, that he recorded while receiving his cancer treatments. He ended up stopping treatments during the recording sessions. The whole album is his "swan song" of sorts. It released on his birthday, January 8th, 2016. He died two days later. It was his first album ever to debut at number one in the United States. When you listen to that album, know that he was in the studio LITERALLY DYING while recording it, all while putting together his very first musical based upon the character he portrayed in his first full-length feature film, The Man Who Fell to Earth, just so he could leave us with a final message of love and devotion directly from his heart. He also recorded 3 songs that were intended for release after his death. The man truly forced us to redefine the word "genius" as it pertained to him. I miss him every day. 😢😢😢
He wrote this when he lived 3 years in Berlin (where I live). The city was seperated by the Wall (and half of germany). It's about 2 lovers from east and west who love each other on the Wall, when the bullets fly at them
I remember hearing this song everywhere when the wall came down. We watched on tv and sang, laughed and cried right along with the people there. This song always takes me back to that time.
Yeah alot people out of europe don't even know alot about it maybe which is sad cos it was an unbelievable thing to even build that thing after ww2 and also to tear it down without violence even though it were hundret thousands of protesters who did protest for months in a russian-controlled-kinda regime before it fell
It had actually had a more personal meaning to the song. It was about a love affair between one his producers and a girl while the guy was still married. I think he ended up marrying the girl he was having an affair with. Someone fact check me, I’m too lazy to look up all the details rn.
@@IanBrains Right, Bowie later said that he looked out of the window at the Hansa Studios, directly at the wall. A couple of lovers stood there and kissed. This experience inspired him to the line "And we kissed, as though nothing could fall"
I have been listening to Bowie, Queen, Pink Floyd and many others for 40 years and they still surprise and lift my heart. You are going to have such fun, I would love to be listening for the first time and a reliving it all thanks to you. So thank you and keep enjoying 😁
This was a pure pleasure seeing your reaction to this, one of my top favorite songs. I KNEW you would love David Bowie. Dive in to his world and get to know him. Such an icon ! He was a beautiful person who touched many a soul. Somewhere in there, please watch Bowie and Mick Jagger of The Rolling Stones , “Dancing in the Streets “. You will then want to explore the stones. I’m so loving witnessing your musical awakening. Rock on dude !!
Love that..."connect from the past to the future." The late great David Bowie was a great artist and entertainer. The Man Who Sold the World, China Girl, and Absolute Beginners are just a sample of some of my faves. Now that you have gotten bit by the Bowie bug, I suggest you explore on your own when you have time. Bowie was against social injustice and racism. Some of his songs have that message in them.
Yeah, it was also shy of the movie "Christiane F., Wir Kinder vom Bahnhof Zoo". One of the most iconic movies ever made ... and then there's the Music ...
Legend David Bowie is British and one great friend of Legend Freddie Mercury, also British. They composed "Under Pressure" together in just one session in studio. Because geniouses are like this. Bowie was called "The Chameleon" because not only he'd change his visuals but traded through all kinds of styles: hard rock, pop, dance, rock, jazz, progressive, techno, romantic.
Yeah he changed so much because he refused to repeat the same style of music twice no matter how succesfull. His attude towards the record companies when they were asking for more of the same was i have already created that record so why would i be intrested in making anoher one? So cool. I have seen him perform the "The Glass-spider tour" concert and i still consider this one of the best concerts i have ever been too. This was actually the very first concert of the world tour. The guy is legend.
David Bowie was British, yes. Later in his life he married Somali model Iman and they had a daughter. We really miss him! This song is about two lovers on two sides of the Berlin Wall. He lived in Berlin for awhile.
Dude, this is a perfect example of how David loved performing in front of a live audience. This is where he really came alive. God rest his dear soul, we really miss him.
You’ve got to listen to that one soon. Little Drummer Boy. Bowie has always been one of my early favs. I loved how different he was! So glad you appreciate and enjoy him. I truly love watching your journey.
This was actually two songs fused together. "The Little Drummer Boy" and "Peace on Earth", with Crosby singing the former and Bowie the latter (plus a little bit of crossover). Some people, when they hear that someone is doing a solo rendition of Drummer Boy say, "How are you going to do the Peace on Earth bit?", unaware that that bit is not present in Drummer boy and vice versa.
Love your face while watching. That's just the joy Bowie has brought to so many millions! And the joy on Bowie's face is priceless. He was on fire and having fun and it really shows!
Bowie used to reinvent himself as character from album to album. He, Brian Eno and American composer Philip Glass did a whole album based on this single. Well worth checking out.
When it comes to David, "Let's Dance" is the one track that I really can go back to and be back to being around 7 or 8 years old hearing it over and over again from my brothers or sisters rooms. So do check that one out. And Heroes is one of my favourites that I discovered at a later stage in my life, actually from his performance at the Freddie Tribute.
If you've never watched it, I highly suggest watching a movie called Labyrinth, from the '80's. Bowie was one of the main characters, and plays the Goblin King. It's a great movie, and it is what got my daughter into liking Bowie, when she was around 11.
God no. I made that mistake 2 years ago. I remembered it a child as this great adventure. Put it on for my 10 and 14year old. It's aged terribly and it's so pervy and pedo'esk. He is about 30 and chasing a 14 year old around in a love story in his very exposing tights. That film is best left in the early 80s.
You got that 100% right - connecting from the past to the future. Bowie was and is my hero, straddling decades, genres, art, music, theatre, fashion and people of all races and sexuality. There are few entertainment related people in my eyes that deserve the status of legend, but Bowie was that in spades, a spirit of individuality who encouraged and emboldened that trait in everyone who listened, a magnet for the disillusioned, different and lost. His music is his legacy but only tells part of the story - his very presence was almost an experience in itself, I was lucky enough to see him live on several occasions and his connection with the crowd was unbelievable, it felt cathartic. This world is a poorer place without him, but I feel blessed for being alive in his time. Shine on Starman.
Over the years I have seen many, many great artists play live, but this gorgeous, talented, intelligent and soulful man is the only one with so much charisma he made your knees go weak when he walked on stage and when he smiled..omfg! Those of us who were privileged to have been growing up during the 70's were truly blessed...btw, just like Freddy/Queen, The Beatles, Rolling Stones, Pink Floyd, TRex, The Who, Elvis Costello, Elton John, Billy Idol, Dusty Springfield, George Michael, The Cure, The Kinks, Black Sabbath, Joy Division, Deacon Blue, Bauhaus, The Human League, Souxsie and the Banshees, Soft Cell ...and a thousand more...Bowie was British and made us proud, so although he will always be ours, we happily shared him with the world..you're welcome.. lol :D
I love David Bowie so so much and I couldn’t ever chose my favourite of his songs, but Heroes never fails to bring a tear to my eye. It’s something about the emotion in his voice as he sings. It makes you feel like life has stopped for a moment - like you’re on top of the world.
I saw you wipe that tear from your eye towards the end! I did the same thing the first time I heard him do this song live. It is very moving and touches something inside you.
great reaction....great live version of a fantastic song. Bowie was one of the greatest artists in history and discovering him (and mick ronson) as a teen changed my life. In his later years (as this concert shows) he really seemed very happy with his life...very personable. he came a long way in his years and covered a LOT of territory musically. I hope you will take the time to delve into his music....there is a whole lot there. peace man,....
In addition to being a long time fan and following this man's career, I happily watched his interaction with the audience and his bandmates in this video. There is 1 thought I can't escape from and what I firmly believe. And that is, when David Bowie was alive, he was simply the "coolest" human being walking this planet.
Being a Queen can like you are, Bowie was in that Freddie Mercury class. None can replace him. When Christmas comes check out his duet with Bing Crosby.
hahatoldyouso You are not having all the credit his Dad was from Doncaster so he did a mean Yorkshire accent. Check out his interview with Michael Parkinson. It’s hilarious when he tells how he got his big hairy Yorkshire bandmates to dress in glam rock clothes and make up
there is a German version by him of the song, because this song is about Germany and especially about the Berlin wall that separated west and east germany for about 30 years.
I adore this version. David really shows off his humour and personality, but if you want to get the full effect, search for the original official version, it is so atmospheric and it explains why it was so iconic.
if you want to connect Bowie with Freddie, i recommend the live version of "Under Pressure" he did at the Freddie Mercury Tribute Concert with Annie Lennox
Heroes is Bowie at his most reachable. This song is so touching. He is usually so cerebral and mystical, in Heroes he taps into something very gut level, very unifying and inspiring.
Watch Queen and Bowie (who was one of writers) singing "Under Pressure". John Deacon of Queen came up with the bass riff and the rest is history as they say.
Your face! I loved your reaction! This song always reminds me of the movie Christiane F, we had to watch it in high school. A very, very long time ago. Thank you for this, Bowie was beautiful x
Love him sooo much . First heard him in London at Earls Court, during his Ziggy Stardust era. I was 12 years old. I never looked back. I moved to the USA to go to college in 1979, back then Americans were just beginning to get to know him, and many were critical of him. They didn’t get “it”. I remember he showed up on Saturday Night Live wearing a skirt! I am so happy that Americans have embraced him so throughly now. RIP.
This song can reduce me to tears in an instant - David puts so much passion into the story of lovers divided by the Wall and it hits me in the feels. You can also spin this to missing any loved one, living or dead, and it's heartbreaking.
His Dancing in the Streets with Mick jagger is awesome...and so much dang fun. Hope you do it someday. Also best live performance for me was Paul McCartney"s Live and Let Die....The production was fantastic.
Saw his Glass Spider tour in Boston! Amazing...another show my brother's band, The Neighborhoods, opened for. He actually played bass with Bowie and almost couldn't hold it together...playing with one of his idols!
I have a really good time watching people like you watch these Rock videos because you have very honest reviews I heard you say where is this guy from the UK and I realized OMG he really doesn't know who he is I thought everybody on this planet knew who David Bowie was it's just how I was brought up. Keep it going love you reviews
Thanks Bro 👍. First time checking you out. I saw that you were checking out Bowie and Heroes happens to be a favorite of mine. Glad you liked it. How could you not .
Ah, David Bowie. Such an absolutely beautiful man with an incredibly distinctive voice. Think about watching the movie Labyrinth, I think it's the more accessible of his movies.
You have awesome taste my friend love this channel you’re the best love David Bowie rest in peace ,my husband saw him right up front in Boston many years ago
David Bowie was amazing, he transcended sexual lines, musical genres and time. He was on par with Freddie Mercury, while he didn't have the bravado of Freddie, he too was a god among mortals.
He was known to go online at his authenticated David Bowie site and randomly talk to people without them knowing. At times he would reveal himself. Awesome. The actor John Malkovich does the same thing. I think I might have talked to Malkovich in that way once, a long time ago, but I'm not positive.
You need to do a chronological listen to him, start with Ziggy Stardust and go from there. Golden Years, Star Man, Diamond Dogs, Ashes to Ashes, Fame, so much amazing music, you will not be disappointed.
I really think you would like "Space Oddity". When Bowie started out, he experimented with different genres and identities. He pretty much started the "Glam Rock" music and was considered a breakout artist. He looked very androgynous back then. I'll post a link to it for you.
Yeeeeeesssssss I love how your queen experience has opened so many doors and worlds man. I had this journey too but was helped by my dad playing this shit in the house every day of my youth. Bowie is incredible dude, a true one off and up there with the greats. Enjoy the trip bud.
Getting toward the time of year when a good reaction video would be David Bowie and Bing Crosby doing Little Drummer Boy/Peace on Earth. Love the reaction to Heroes. Great song and great reaction video :)
He was very kind in person, I met him in NYC once, before a show when he was a member of Tin Machine, and gave him some inscribed paint brushes...he spent like 10 min. talking to me and thanking me for them. He was beautiful in every way.
That is soo freakin cool. I felt like I just lived that...
He was from Brixton south London and we’re very proud of him.
He sang this after 9/11 at the Concert for New York. Chills. Bowie is life altering. Welcome to the club, my dear.
Well said! His artistry gets to me all the time. I got choked up watching this. Miss Bowie so much.
Yep, welcome to Bowie World........
Is this the german stop in reality tour? Coz low is very meaningful to germans.
Life-altering. Exactly. Still gives me chills after 30 years of being a Bowie Geek. A++
R.I.P. David Such a gentle man with an amazing voice
Lazarus is the song he recorded before he died. It's powerful and moving. Bowie like Mercury was an artist
I agree! Very foreshadowing - he knew that he didn't have long and that song shows it.
It's part of his last album, ★, that he recorded while receiving his cancer treatments. He ended up stopping treatments during the recording sessions. The whole album is his "swan song" of sorts. The song was recorded at Hansa Studios which overlooked the wall

He is a great singer . He sung with Bing Crosby “The Little Drummer Boy “ Christmas song duet . Beautiful song highly recommended 👍
That should be a Christmas time reaction!
You’ve got to listen to that one soon. Little Drummer Boy. Bowie has always been one of my early favs. I loved how different he was! So glad you appreciate and enjoy him. I truly love watching your journey.
That is a must listen. Gorgeous song with the best falsetto i've heard in my life as done by Bowie.

One of my all-time favorites. I'm grateful that I got to see him perform live. RIP David.
This was the song played as the British Olympic team for London 2012 came into the stadium.
Di Naylor WOW I didn’t know that!
He was British. Married to beautiful Somalian model Iman. Miss him so much.
Music really brings people together. Thanks so much for showing yourself to us. It's just as good for us as it is for you! Love from Australia :)
He completely owned the moment. He and his band were in complete sync with the universe at that moment. What a performance !
I'M THRILLED THAT YOURE GETTING INTO BOWIE! You'll love him!! LEGEND! He is my blue print!
Love your face while watching. That's just the joy Bowie has brought to so many millions!
And the joy on Bowie's face is priceless. He was on fire and having fun and it really shows!

That film is best left in the early 80s.
Are you kidding, this film is dreadful. He was perfect as The Man Who Fell to Earth, and was pretty good in Merry Christmas Mr Lawrence.
So glad you’re discovering David Bowie.
You got that 100% right - connecting from the past to the future.

Bowie!!! Nice. I love watching your reactions. Moonage Daydream by David Bowie is great. 💙💙💙
Over the years I have seen many, many great artists play live, but this gorgeous, talented, intelligent and soulful man is the only one with so much charisma he made your knees go weak when he walked on stage and when he smiled..omfg! I think you've hit the nail on the head- absolutely couldn't agree more.
Be carefull you will get addicted.... Bowie is my hero since 40 years
Since 30 years!
Mom InJungle mine as well But for 50 years
We "oldies" have *taste* 👍 😁
50 years here too. I saw him three times and he was fantastic every time. I miss not having him on the earth.
@ShariSez1 Same. I was 15. Will always be hooked.
I saw you wipe that tear from your eye towards the end! I did the same thing the first time I heard him do this song live. It is very moving and touches something inside you.
Aaaah Mr. Bowie - such an ICON!! Thank you for sharing...you selected a GREAT one, once again! 😎❣️
great reaction....great live version of a fantastic song. Bowie was one of the greatest artists in history and discovering him (and mick ronson) as a teen changed my life. Bowie led others followed
Robert Smith 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Great choice. Love Bowie. Goes back a long way. His music was always evolving. A fine human being and one hell of an artist.
So glad you're learning more about the incomparable David Bowie! He was one of the greatest!
Watching your reactions to great music I've grown up with is like hearing them for the first time through you. Great job.
When Christmas comes check out his duet with Bing Crosby.
yup! from London. Such a legend
Always thought Bowie was a Yorkshireman
hahatoldyouso You are not having all the credit his Dad was from Doncaster so he did a mean Yorkshire accent. Check out his interview with Michael Parkinson. It’s hilarious when he tells how he got his big hairy Yorkshire bandmates to dress in glam rock clothes and make up
Another great reaction. Mr Bowie was clearly enjoying himself during this gig.
He was a good actor too! Love his music,
there is a German version by him of the song, because this song is about Germany and especially about the Berlin wall that separated west and east germany for about 30 years.
So cool watching Bowie thru your eyes! 😎
ABSOLUTELY MY FAVORITE BOWIE SONG. THANKS FOR YOUR REACTION
He's already reacted to Under Pressure 👍
I love this live rendition of this great song. I've enjoyed all of your reaction vids, man.
Your face! I loved your reaction! This song always reminds me of the movie Christiane F, we had to watch it in high school. A very, very long time ago.
Thank you for this, Bowie was beautiful x
Also "Life on Mars" from David Bowie.
**For any fans of Bowie, check out Aurora - Life on Mars cover, too. It's incredible.
We lost a lot when he died. I saw im in concert several times and he had a lot of creativity left in him to share with the world.
RIP.
Yes! I am so glad you're reacting to Bowie! I was going to rec Five Years by Bowie. Its a beautiful song, and my favourite.
Such wise and considered words for this creative comet that flshed across our universe. Thank you, sir.
The greatest musician of all time - r i p david jones
This song can reduce me to tears in an instant - David puts so much passion into the story of lovers divided by the Wall and it hits me in the feels. You can also spin this to missing any loved one, living or dead, and it's heartbreaking.
David Bowie and Sting have always been two of the most gorgeous men in my opinion.😛😛😛I STILL need a drool bib when I watch their videos!😂😂😂
New you would love Bowie!. Another English genius 🔥👏👏... check out his live aid performance. Came on after queen !
BTW, the bassist is Gail Ann Dorsey. She is awesome!
His Dancing in the Streets with Mick jagger is awesome...and so much dang fun. Hope you do it someday. Also best live performance for me was Paul McCartney"s Live and Let Die....The production was fantastic.
Great Artist...other songs Changes..Fame...Let's Dance...Young Americans...just a few of his great music catalog.
Yes soooo many great Bowie songs definitely listen to Young Americans!!!
Ziggy Stardust...
Saw his Glass Spider tour in Boston! Amazing...another show my brother's band, The Neighborhoods, opened for. He actually played bass with Bowie and almost couldn't hold it together...playing with one of his idols!
There will never be another. We love you ❤️
I have a really good time watching people like you watch these Rock videos because you have very honest reviews I heard you say where is this guy from the UK and I realized OMG he really doesn't know who he is I thought everybody on this planet knew who David Bowie was it's just how I was brought up.
Oh! My heart! He was great! I was privileged to see him in concert once about 17 years ago! Amazing!😍
He is still so badly missed 😞
At least we have the music 🎶
This is a wonderful song, one of my favorites. I like the live version but I recommend the studio version also to really hear the melody.
You should do the recorded versions of Golden Years and Young Americans!!!!!!
And Modern Love
You have awesome taste my friend love this channel you’re the best love David Bowie rest in peace ,my husband saw him right up front in Boston many years ago
So beside Freddie Mercury, Bowie is my other favorite all time singer. Dive head first into his catalogue. You won’t be disappointed.
"Likes he's from The UK or something" 😂 His accent is the most distinct of English accents.
The studio version features Robert Fripp of King Crimson on guitar.
If Fripp isn't on the song it wouldn't be as good.
It’s so satisfying to see a young guy like you getting into this great music! Music is timeless. It doesn’t matter how old it is, if it’s good!
David Bowie Was Awesome RIP David
Diggin' on Queen and Bowie. You could have been a hippie with us back in the day kid. Love ya' keep the reactions coming.
You need to get you some headphones though, it all sounds better.
David Bowie was amazing, he transcended sexual lines, musical genres and time. He was on par with Freddie Mercury, while he didn't have the bravado of Freddie, he too was a god among mortals.
You need to react to station to station and absolutely your reaction is real. You do a great job my friend.
My first thought for his next Bowie reaction video. That monster intro and bassline...
I bawled my eyes out when he died. I was a rebel rebel in 1970's, Bowie was everything.
You would love Bowie song Wild is the Wind at a BBC concert 😁💖💖💖💖💖
Bowie was VERY English. Complete genius. Very, very, very bad that he's no longer here.
He was married to the model Iman for I think 30 years until his death
I think it was 25... They were truly soul mates, and I think about his wife all the time... having to live without the man she loved so much.
He was known to go online at his authenticated David Bowie site and randomly talk to people without them knowing. At times he would reveal himself. Awesome. The actor John Malkovich does the same thing. I think I might have talked to Malkovich in that way once, a long time ago, but I'm not positive.
Watch he and David Gilmore doing their version of Comfortably Numb. Very good friends and a deep respect for each other’s talent.
He was from Brixton in London.
The Immortal Incomparable Genius that is The Thin White Duke!
I love this SONG! RIP David
I Love your reactions! If your on Bowie I recommend "I have not been to Oxford Town" personal favorite of mine
Loving watching you grow! Queen/Bowie combo is true. ROCK ON!!
Bowie was the coolest cat around.
You should listen to the Peter Gabriel version of this song, it is very nice
You so young ....David Bowie is a legend
Getting toward the time of year when a good reaction video would be David Bowie and Bing Crosby doing Little Drummer Boy/Peace on Earth. Love the reaction to Heroes. Great song and great reaction video :)
One of my fav tunes! Thanks!
