As a seventeen year old boy, I was at this concert and to this day I still regard it as one of the best experiences of my life!
Saw this show in June '74/Toronto and Yup Yup Yup, to this day one of my
All Time Top Five Best Concerts . . . Bless You Forever David.
You were lucky. This is surely the best rock concert ever!
I was also 17 and at this show. Still Magic!
Jealous... David Live is one of my all time favourite albums.
I was twelve and convinced my mom to take me. She was horrified, but we stayed for the whole show, haha!
it is a wonder he survived this period.
Indeed. Fascinating period nevertheless
+russell davis He could have easy of been one of the "27" club, during this year.1947-1974.
+goldsaj Well yes, but look at his actual date of death. The numbers add up to 27. Spooky.
I did not realise that. Probably fate or God or whatever, was probably going to take him in 1974, when he was 27, but thought he has so much more to do on earth. And decided to take him on that date 10/01/16 instead.
I can feel his exhaustion from the uppers just watching this ugh poor guy
This was his druggy days but he sure could SING!! Love That Voice....
@bassmanjoe we all did,,,
@@rduquet not true, 4 u maybe but definitely not all,..
@@mahalkita7351 heroin???
Never did it,,,
Good Luck with that,,,
Amazing!!
Later on in the tour about November his voice had become very hoarse. However he seems to be in better voice here than on the July '74 concert released as David Live.
And yes he was heavily into cocaine at the time, but honestly Bowie had been on one drug or another from the mid 60s until the late 80s. And he always had " an adiction" to cigarettes ( 60 to 80 per day) and drank tons of strong coffee. I'm not sure about alcohol.
Sweet thing/Candidate/Sweet thing reprise live is the greatest musical accomplishment ever.
Yep.
I demand the BBC release the complete show they video taped of this performance! They are the only ones that have a complete show during this tour! Us Bowie fans have been denied this by the BBC! Release it and make us all happy! 50 years is a long enough wait!
How can this only have 197,000 views after being up this long and Ed Sheeran has a billion views, people's taste has really gone down the sewer these days
Sheeran is promoted to teens by the corporate music monopolies. He’s their cash cow, similar to the likes of Justin Bieber, Katy Perry and Nicki Menaje
I was at this 1974-L.A. Bowie concert. It was at the Universal Amphitheater in Universal City (North Hollywood area.) I was 18, recently graduated from John Marshall High School. That was (48 yrs. ago.) That old cliché that: "Time Flies" is a serious Understatement! 😎
THE 20th century's most talented & prolific musician, song writer, lyricist , choregrapher , actor , painter , sculpter , visionary avant garde of his time !! one in a billion...
And the 21st's!
despite his bad health here, this was such a pleasure to watch. the creativity and energy radiating from this is overall just brilliant. we miss you bowie, and thank you for never holding back.
this moonage daydream live is so impressive
So true ! it's my favorite part with Sweet Thing
Absolutely the best!!!!
I know this is the druggy period but my God...how excellent is this!rest in peace beautiful David...thank you for everything..
It was a drug filled (Coke, ludes, weed) time for many 70s/80s
Not sure there were that many periods that weren't ' druggy' to some extent . He never got into the opiate scene and for that we should be thankful😊
Comment to markfrance782 Bowie was using heroin in his space oddity possibly spiders from Mars era
Just another reason among so many why is missed. He had style, talent, and was ahead of the game. Of course he was heavily coked out during this, but managed to perform and give you a SHOW. Dramatic and brilliant. I miss him so much..
DAVID BOWIE STATED IN AN INTERVIEW THAT HE WAS GLAD HE REALIZED HE NEEDED TO CLEAN UP AND LEAD A DECENT LIFE. I DONT THINK HE KNEW WHAT WAS GOING ON WHILE HE WAS HIGH..HE DIDA GREAT JOB IN THEAN WHO FELL TO EARTH. I MISS HIM.
@TheMaidofMiddleEarth 7
@themaidofmiddleearthcould be an accident. My uncle used to not realize that he had the caps lock on.
@@superschmolzDon't leave us hanging. What happened to your uncle when he left the caps lock on?
He gave everything for his audience
It always amazes me how Bowie could take the same song, rearrange it and make it new and years ahead of its time again.
It was never captured properly, but this tour with this stage setup, and theatrics was lightyears ahead of its time. I wish there was more video of this tour. The musicians were superb and he used every inch of the stage. Just incredible.
It can be heard on "David Live", which for some reason, musician's rights I believe, is virtually unavailable these days.
Good news You Can see the Whole thing From the Designers that built the Staging for David Bowie many others.!@BBC DANCING IN THE STs..Forgot which ep' but it covers this peroid of RnR biz.."You had To Provide a Real big Show.to be in biz.!"
HIs voice is metallic velvet perfection.
That is bar none the best description of the sound of his voice.
David Sanborn was the sax player on this tour. He just shines !!!
"Time". An underrated Bowie classic. AladdinSane is an almost perfect album start to finish... But Station to Station is still his masterpiece in my opinion.
Bowie himself always regarded Hunky Dory as his best .
Station to station la pinche regla
@@ThefightingCelt Hunky Dory was incredible!
Aladdin Sane is Perfect
With you all the way! STATION TO STATION 👌👌👌👌👌
My favorite live performance so brilliant even though he was so unhappy and stoned he sang soooo beautiful...glad he found happiness later in life
He was happy
I'm sure the whole show sits in a vault somewhere.....release it!!!!!!
the skull knows something I'm sure
morkygorky AMEN!
@@TheSusieTom HAHAHAHA indeed the skull
Yes 🙌, please do it
As of 2022, Bowie was the best-selling vinyl artist of the 21st century.
This is a fantastic testimony to what an extraordinarily versatile and uniquely talented artist David Bowie was.
Hard to believe this is 5 years after Woodstock. Incredible how fast things moved forward at that time. Especially when living in a time when things seem to move backwards.
Music moved at the speed of human thought until computers came on the scene, and then the music died.
Beautiful at every age; I miss him so much!
We were all fortunate to have Him on earth and Enjoy His Awesome Talent
Whoever posted this footage, absolute legend!.
This is fucking superb
1974, when I was born. Must have been a great tour. Bowie was already a myth. Oh my, this guy was so cool. Gosh, I am badly missing him
Oh My, this is sooo amazing.
Specially Sweet Thing is great
Can you believe it? when Bowie performed this, Elvis was still alive. It's beyond crazy
burning as bright as a fucking comet here on the Diamond Dogs tour. this is the only quality footage of that amazing tour in 1974.
His coke an milk diet times...thank the heavens the stars mars an the universe that he gave us an extra 4 decades of himself to us ... truly our greatest artist to ever grace us..rip Bowie
David's coke and milk diet period began when he moved to LA, some time after these shows.
And beer and cigarettes he stared drinking in rehearsals on tour snd coke it up
i'd like to see the full version of "Sweet Thing" recorded at this concert... It's amazing
The Man Who Fell To Earth 🌎🌍
👍
Very well put together from the documentery 'Cracked Actor', if only there was some more footage from this era. Miss David and his music so much!
Paul S same here ......miss everything of him very much........
Get Peter Jackson onto it after The Beatles documentary is done. This is a fabulous documentary that deserves a full restoration and expanded edit.
You may just get it now my friend
@@gddiggy3828 I would be so happy if it included more footage from this… hopefully it does, with so much unseen stuff from the stage and behind the scenes.
I agree, but in the "Cracked Actor" unofficial video ( which I assume this is from) there is also some interviews he did in the back of a limo, etc . Filmed and directed by someone named Alan Yentob.
Cocaine and Milk diet......He was on a downhill spiral.....But he pulled out of it....What a Showman he was
The picture of health.
ha ha
***** ha ha!
@@geeback1231 exactly!!
Such a dark period, yet so brilliant. This guy was so extraordinary. It is amazing he died at 69 years of age while being so self destructive.
My favourite Bowie album "David live " i nearly wore it out !!!
We used to thrash it in 1975 as well. Along with all the early Bowie albums. I almost took their brilliance for granted, there was so much quality material released by great artists between 1967 and 1980.
I do love Sweet Thing, listen it over and over
The Diamond Dogs Tour was the first concert I saw. I was fourteen. It was the Thursday , September 5th show. I still have the ticket stub. In 2017 the live CD "Cracked Actor" was released, recorded on Sept. 5, 1974. The actual show I saw so long ago! I went on to see David Bowie live eighteen more times until 2004 when he stopped touring. Some great memories there. He was brilliant.
1:16 THAT performance of the Sweet thing is the best thing i have ever seen...i love ot on the inner level...so live and amazing !!!!❤
I saw the concert in New York with my big sister I was thirteen I was never the same after it was incredible couldn’t take my eyes off
Him I was up front screaming lol
I think he saw my expression totally struck hahaha
This was one of his best albums David live
There's only one & only David Bowie, no one can be compared to his great genius. During his own life he did exactly what he wishes to do, to create, no any care to change of style anytime and no afraid his fans. We liked to be surprised all the time with him, until his last Blackstar, we discovered just before he died. His own death was also a surprise and so sad news. Many of us were so amazed and deeply sad, stunned
DAvid Bowie was the greatest (not only rock musician) but pop artist ever
David Bowie, was a sailor from England, Here is this sailer doing his thing on stage, Hes the oltra cool Dude in1974 ALL THE YOUNG DUDES and his miming was futureristic for those times not forgotten by me...✍️. Your Blest Bowie 74, these were the best of times. So it said he fell to earth...🥂
His voice is incredible!!!
Candidate/Sweet thing. What a fabulous song!
This concert sounded magical, the voice, the style, the energy, the musicians, the versions of songs, the live release is on top of mine for sure. thank you, mister Bowie, thank you,the visionaries, the musicians, friends and colleagues for creating this. eternal.
his voice just does something to me. I just love him as an artist , acter, a lover a father. he's perfect in my life. love u david, I miss u so so much
I love this period
El verdadero genio del siglo XX. No habrá otro igual. Cómo te extraño, David!
Legend, one of the all time greats.....
probably the coolest video on the web.
The most brilliant rock musician (and more) of all time. His theatrics give me shivers. Thank you so very much for this. Best wishes.
Not the greatest composer - that would be McCartney, nor technically the greatest musician, but certainly the most brilliant artist.
I was lucky enough to see this tour in July of 74. I was only 15 years old, what an eye opener.
I love this era and am obsessed with the Diamond Dogs album! Thanks so much for this!
Me too!!! 70's LA.
This bloke has let you live but 5 years 9days he went. I will never live without him
David live album recorded in 74 philly is same tour one of best live lps ever! Bowie the one off artist! Never be another!
your clip is beyond brilliant..THANK YOU FOR THE POST! Thought I had come to terms of David's passing, but seeing your clip, I realize I will NEVER be over his passing. But he is part of my very own DNA so as long as I exist so does David. Again, thank you.
Thanks Elliot, this is a truly amazing video with The Main Man, the skinny, cocaineridden Bowie, who performs a great act at the Diamond Dogs tour, didn't see that, saw Bowie first in 1976 and 1978 in Copenhagen, but here he has an amazing voice, Moonage Daydream, Sweet Thing, Cracked Actor, Diamond Dogs, Time, Rock 'n' Roll Suicide plus John, I'm only Dancing. Great stuff, great performance. Thanks for the upload.
i love glam. never used to understand what it meant but its totally dramatic but also totally proto punk rock
Dressed up Rick n’ Roll with accentuated with edgy theatrics
@@cgtaurus John Lennon once called it "Rock & Roll with lipstick on"
This is davids best period i think my favourite bowie era.
The biggest influence of my life ..i remember seeing cracked actor on BBC 2.amazing
Amazing musician, one of my favourite ❤
DAVID BOWIE ROCKS
Very lucky people who touched his hands at the end 🤩 Bowie, we miss you 😢
amazing ,remember watching this on TV and hadn't long seen him as thin white Duke ,15 shows later ,he is the best

only him can make my mind Go places never before visited.. miss u dear..
Candidate sweet thing is the best live performance ever
WOW!Great performance.
like a van gough painting its a moment in time that cant be recreated
Wow, I just came upon this video, I was at this show at the (outdoor) Universal Amphitheater before they enclosed it, I was a senior in High School and went with several friends to the show, I've been to many concerts in the 48 years since then and this one is still in the top 3 for sure, he was a master of the stage ... "David Live" (recorded just a few months later in Philly) is the best Live album EVER !!!
David is very lucky to survive this period. Awesome viewing.
Brilliant.Added to 2015 channel.
Just amazing - genius and his voice is just????........😘
What I would have given to be at this concert! SUPERB 👌👌👌👌👌
Every time I listen to Bowie 74 - 76 I can't stop wanting to take speed or coce. And if I have it and turn on this... Damn I'm in heaven
Sweet thing! Wat a tune ❤
Awesome, Miss you!
Like his music from the very beginning; glad he lived so long and made beautifull music till the very end. And found happiness too.
This is amazing! I’ve never seen any footage from the Diamond Dogs tour posted before. Thank you!
Genius ❤️
I love how his writing style in his own writing is shown in this video...just imagine him sitting in a room cutting up magazines to make phrases? Waaayyy before he had software to do it for him.
Not to mention he lived on "milk and bell peppers" lol
Rock God. I miss My Starman☆☆☆☆☆☆☆
"We should be on by now"...
The incredible Mick Ronson was a big part of Bowie‘s sound at that time .
Mick had already gone solo by this time. It’s unfortunate, as he was the best guitarist Bowie ever had.
my favourite bowie song ... sweet thing live.. thanks for posting..... amazing
never seen that before: gorgeous...🤩
Bellissimo video..love Bowie forever
amazing performance. I love him so much!! nice piece of great times...
The absolutly best Bow-74-film i hawe ewer seen ! 74&75 was the best hyears. I wish somebody hawe filmed whole 74-consert. It was the best recording. If somebody know, let me hear from you.
Portrait of flesh bowie bootleg check it out
Favorites of mine were his classic performances of Time and Rock n Roll Suicide, which featured his singing voice and lyrics. Sweet Thing was also a great song written in the cut-up style. Great lyrics and music. So creative.
i wish there was complete concert video of this, david live is the best live album ever
Superb.
Zenkiou David...❤❤❤❤❤
Whole shit!!! I dreamed of seeing this !! Thank you !! Especially Time live !!!
I will always love him.
Bowies voice never sounded better than during this period .....
To think just a year or so earlier he and his band were doing the Ziggy thing ???
What an incredible contrast 😮
Man!! I had lost this video few years ago, so fucking happy to found it again! Thanks for that masterpiece 🥰 best regards from Paris.
