12 cabbage leaves (the large the cabbage the better)

1 Large jar Salsa
Chicken sausage links or smoked sauage links or sauasage or your choice
1 tablespoon garlic powder
1 tablespoon onion powder
salt and black pepper to taste
1 medium onion sliced thin
1 medium potato sliced then

Can I make it without sausage
@CookingAtPamsPlace, do you think sliced onions on top of the sliced potatoes would add extra texture and flavor? Adding a little water to the salsa jar “to clean out the last bit” then adding the water/salsa, would it make the potatoes too mushy?

The recipes i grew up with for “cabbage rolls” is cooked rice mixed with diced onion, shredded carrot, par-cooked hamburger meat and ground pork.
Are you suggesting No Meat at all? Like a vegan/vegetarian spin on the recipe bcuz rice, diced cauliflower, onions, diced carrots, diced lion’s mane or cremini mushrooms - all sound like a delicious “meaty” combination for a non-meat cabbage roll filling… 😊Thank you for commenting as you did bcuz it truly got my “Recipe Mind” whirling!!! I remember when my father used to make cabbage rolls when I was a child. He stuffed them with white rice, meat and peppers & onions 🤤🤤

My mother in law used to freeze the head of cabbage beforehand so the leaves would be soft and pliable and she could skip the blanching step. Then stuff, roll, and bake 😉
I never heard to do that before,do you just freeze it over night,then let it thaw ?
@@moladhdodhia164 Yes, when you freeze it and thaw it the cabbage gets soft and easy to roll. It saves having to boil it first which can be more of a hassle.

Cabbage is probably the best veg for us that there is. Its crazy healthy. Heals ulcers & our gut. Im trying to use it more ways.

I have severe insomnia, and listening to you on repeat calms down my busy brain and allows me to sleep. I've tried all those sleep videos, but their voices irritate me because they try too hard. I sleep and wake up, wanting to cook. 😂
Looks so delicious .. I cant hardly wait to get some cabbage.. I might even substitute collard greens for a cabbage and blanch and use those leaves. I have some big leaves in my garden.🥰
Sounds great! I’d use the collards for sure. Put them in a crockpot and you can probably skip the balancing. Low and slow

Beef hamburger,row
Rice,row,
Fresh dill
Fresh parsley
Salt,pepper
2 grind garlic
Mix, roll them
Put in pot with a plate on top so they don't open
Add oil,water,4 grind
Tomatoes 🍅
Pepper and chicken
Buillion.
That's how I make them
Hi Ms. Pam. I have a recipe for you... I hope you don't mind. Its easy and you don't have to keep to much of an eye on it.
You will need a 9x13 dish.
Cut a cabbage in small wedges and place them around your dish. Cut up a couple or 3 potatoes in chunks and scatter around the pan. Cut up some of your favorite sausage and scatter around the pan. Cut up an onion and scatter around the pan. Salt and pepper or any seasonings you like to taste.
Put a dab of butter on your cabbage wedges. Then put a can or maybe half a box of chicken broth in the pan...cover it tightly and put in the oven at 350 until the potatoes and cabbage are tender.
This has saved me a few times since you just bake it for about and 1.5 hours or so and it frees you up for other things.

Cabbage rolls are almost a cultural universal in the filling ideas.
Its important after blanching, to run under cold water to keep the colour and texture.
Such a wonderful way to use vegetable leaves in delicious ways.

Reminds me of a Ukrainian dish my mom would make, golubtsi. Instead of sausage she would wrap ground beef with the cabbage - into a roll. So delicious, I recommend it.

Just tried this recipe. In Ms. Pam’s voice: “Delicious”. I used Field Roast plant based Smoked Apple &Sage sausages. And I did remove the casings.

I rarely peel potatoes. I use the skin. Well scrubbed. The skin has vitamins. Even in mash. My Mom would brown onion and use it in mash.😋

This is very helpful. Common ingredients, that is easy to put together. It looks good. I never made cabbage rolls.
My dad was a good cook and he made the best cabbage rolls and he would just soak the cabbage in the hot water we pull it apart and he mix up the burger and we'd help him wrap it and put the toothpicks in and put it in the pressure cooker for a long time I ain't never tried to make them because it's just me and my dog and that's no point I don't think and trying to make that but I love cabbage my dad would make coleslaw with apples that is very good just some mayonnaise with the Apple that you like I like Fugees make your slow up you know slice it how you like it and I like to put bettas complete seasoning in there and that's just perfect if anybody wants to try that it's really good coleslaw with apples in it and I'll leave my skins on❤❤❤
